YNW Melly: Alleged Victim’s Father Blasts Witness Tampering, Home Raid Notes Revealed

The YNW Melly case is the cause of much discussion and speculation online, especially now ahead of its retrial. Moreover, the father of one of his alleged victims (YNW Juvy), Christopher Thomas Sr., recently joined Law & Crime‘s Sidebar podcast. Specifically, he blasted the Florida rapper’s new witness tampering charges, as he stands accused of persuading his ex-girlfriend Mariah Hamilton and her mom Felicia Holmes to conceal information about the alleged double murder. Not only that, but some alleged footage came out of what police discovered during a raid on codefendant YNW Bortlen’s house. All in all, things are getting complicated very fast.

“They going through extreme measures to try to cover up or convince people not to testify like Mariah and Mariah’s mom,” Thomas alleged regarding the YNW Melly case. “They was using code words like Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s baby mom. To me, when I looked at the text messages, I mean Instagram messages, with Bortlen and she said like, ‘You will never- good will never come to somebody because you snake somebody that never did anything to you,’ my mind instantly went to Chris. Like she talking about Juvy ‘cause he didn’t in that situation. I ain’t saying he was an angel, but he didn’t snake Melly. Melly took Chris out.

“And for them to even go through this process, I’m thinking they don’t care nothing about my son,” the father’s accusations about these YNW Melly charges went on. “They don’t care nothing about Chris. I’m like dang, man. Felicia Holmes and Mariah Hamilton, to sit there and be on your own channel and talking about Juvy and Sak were like brothers to her and then do that to them, that’s an insult. It’s just cr*zy.

“There’s a lot of evidence that’s not going to be allowed in,” he concluded. “But everybody in the world know who it points to. But the people that’s lying and covering up, they need to do something about them people too. In my book, they just as guilty.” For more news and the latest updates on the YNW Melly double murder case, come back to HNHH.

Several news reports have confirmed that a Broward County judge has removed the lead prosecutor in the retrial of YNW Melly’s double homicide case.

Circuit Judge John J. Murphy ruled that ssistant State Attorney Kristine Bradley could not continue to serve as the llead prosecutor in the case because he felt there was a chance that she might testify for the defense. Bradley has been named as one of the defense’s witnesses who can further lessen the credibility of one of Jamell “YNW Melly” Demons’ main accusers in his murder trial.

The retrial is set to be underway, with jury selection starting as soon as next week.

TheSource.com will update this story and cover the retrial.

YNW Melly Jurors May Remain Anonymous In Retrial

There have been plenty of crossovers between crime and hip-hop so far in 2023. Unfortunately for the rappers involved, most of the proceedings have been slow-moving. Of course, Young Thug is still waiting for jury selection in the YSL RICO trial to wrap up. Elsewhere, YNW Melly was shockingly granted a mistrial in the summer. He and his defense team are now busy preparing for the prosecution’s retrial regarding the double murder of YNW Juvy and YNW Sakchaser.

The first time around, the jury’s identity wasn’t concealed. After Melly’s co-defendant, YNW Bortlen, was arrested on witness tampering charges earlier this month, however, a motion has been filed to keep the next round of jurors anonymous in order to protect them. As the Sun Sentinel reports, authorities uncovered “a notebook containing names and physical descriptions of the jury from [Melly’s] first trial.” In their request, prosecutors also noted that “There is evidence that suggests potential or seated jurors in the upcoming jury trial will be subjected to improper outside influences or harassment.”

YNW Melly Anxiously Awaits His Next Trial

As AllHipHop notes, selection for the Florida artist’s retrial was expected to begin on Monday (October 9). Ultimately, though, Judge John Murphy pushed things back to take a closer look at a request from the defense. Previously, they alleged that the prosecution withheld evidence in Melly’s first trial. They’re now asking for the case to be dismissed entirely, or for the Broward State Attorney’s Office to be removed. On Tuesday, a pre-trial hearing was postponed due to one of the “Murder On My Mind” hitmaker’s attorneys falling ill.

Even with the odds stacked against him, YNW Melly seems confident that he’ll once again be a free man when all is said and done. Earlier this month, the embattled artist wrote an open letter to his father, declaring that he sees himself winning his double murder trial in the end. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

YNW Melly’s Prosecutors Call His Defense Team “Flawed”

YNW Melly’s retrial for double murder is coming up, but not before each side can levy accusations at each other about its previous mistrial. Moreover, his defense team claimed that prosecutors tried to cheat their way to a conviction, according to court documents obtained by HipHopDX. The specific allegations are that lead detective Mark Moretti told a Broward Country Sheriff’s deputy to falsely state their presence as he- with excessive force- executed a search warrant on the rapper’s mother. Not only that, but Assistant State Attorney Michelle Boutros accused Moretti of unethical behavior. However, an internal affairs investigation in the Miramar Police Department concluded that this contradicts her previous testimony about the detective, plus other accounts that he did nothing wrong.

Furthermore, YNW Melly’s attorneys motioned for the court to block the state attorney’s office from the case. The prosecution responded by telling Judge John H. Murphy that this move is misguided. “Defendant’s flawed reasoning and rank speculation provides no grounds to disqualify the Office of the State Attorney […] and accordingly his motion must be DENIED,” they filed. “A court should hesitate to impose the drastic measure of disqualification of Government counsel. Recusal should be granted only when necessary.”

With all this considered, Judge Murphy is expected to conclude on these and other motions in about a week. Regardless, though, there are other factors at hand that could continue to push the retrial back. For example, YNW Melly and YNW Bortlen faced accusations of witness tampering recently. These claims came straight from the state’s attorney’s office. While the Florida MC’s legal team called this a “distraction” from the prosecution’s improper behavior, this could prove crucial.

Meanwhile, the “223s” MC’s retrial was supposed to commence tomorrow (Monday, October 9). Due to these controversies and other motions, it will instead take at least one more week for it to begin. Given how chaotic and contentious the last trial was, this should be a similarly difficult case to pin down. On that note, log back into HNHH for more news and updates on YNW Melly.

YNW Melly Insists That The State Attorney’s Office Concealed Evidence To Protect Lead Detective

The lead detective on the double murder case is being accused once again. The ever-so-dense timeline of YNW Melly’s court battles adds another layer. The Florida rapper put in another motion for the murder of YNW Sakchaser and Juvy to be dismissed. He feels that Mark Moretti, who was already called out for “excessive force,” is up against it once more. Melly and his defense attorneys are saying prosecutors withheld evidence. This surrounds Moretti’s alleged misconduct that protected him as a witness in YNW Melly’s first trial.

In documents obtained from AllHipHop, Melly’s team feels strongly that there has been a lot of wrongdoing during this battle. “Rather than presenting this to the defense so that [they] could have used it during the first trial, the State withheld this information. In fact, it is believed the highest levels of the State Attorney’s Office made determinations to not provide it to the defense, and secondly, not to pursue the internal affairs investigation.”

YNW Melly’s Team Feels There Is More Dirt On Moretti

Furthermore, they believe this would impeach Moretti, but instead, Melly has not been granted fair Process Rights. Additionally, Melly’s team also thinks they have even more evidence. “In essence, the State has intentionally done whatever it could to sanitize Detective Moretti’s actions. Although the defense has only uncovered the tip of the iceberg in this matter, this tip is sufficient for this Court to determine the Defendant’s Due Process Rights.” Melly’s retrial appears to be starting on October 9, but it was pushed back once already, so who knows if this will be a set date.

What are your initial thoughts on YNW Melly accusing the Broward County State Attorney’s Office of prosecutorial misconduct? Do you think this will help him or hurt him? YNW Melly Update: Alleged Victim’s Mom Asks Judge To Deny Rapper’s Bond

Even after spending four long years of his life behind bars, YNW Melly remains persistent in his quest for freedom. The Florida-born rapper was granted a mistrial while facing accusations of double murder earlier this summer. He’s currently remaining behind bars while awaiting his impending retrial. This week, Melly returned to the courthouse to make his case for bond. Understandably, the embattled entertainer wants to be in the company of friends and family until he’s potentially found guilty. Of course, not everyone wants to see the “Murder on My Mind” artist walk free – particularly not the loved ones of his alleged victims.

As AllHipHop reports, Melly had a hearing on Friday (September 15) during which Judge John Murphy overheard his legal team’s request for bail. Seeing as the 24-year-old has been accused of killing his two affiliates, YNW Juvy and YNW Sakchhaser, in 2018, it’s reasonable that there’s a reluctance to put a bond in place. Still, Melly has spent all of his 20s so far behind bars, and it’s unclear exactly when he’ll find out his fate. After the alleged murderer and his lawyers made their case, Murphy also heard from one of the victim’s mothers.

YNW Melly’s Court Proceedings Continue After Mistrial

“I don’t think he should be granted a bond at all,” Leondra Phillips, Juvy’s mom, shared in court earlier today. If he doesn’t receive bail, Melly will likely spend the remainder of 2023 in jail. Jury selection is scheduled to begin on October 9. Following that, prosecutors are hoping to have all 12 members seated by November 2.

It’s been a quiet few weeks on YNW Melly’s front. However, earlier this month one of the members of his original jury shared some interesting insight with the media. According to them, the accusations against the rapper aren’t as gruesome as they seem, they’re simply “a really bad situation of being framed.” Read everything they had to say at the link below and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.
