Grammy-winning Hip-Hop legend Diamond D‘s sixth studio album The Rear View serves as an ode to his own legacy and resilience. The official music video for the album’s opener “Life Is What You Make It” is a reflection of the rapper/producer’s ability to enjoy the fruit of his labor over the course of an influential and storied career. Shot over the course of 72 hours between Atlanta, Portugal, and Dubai, the RemoFilm-directed video plays out over scenes of Diamond D’s travels, and just released via YouTube.

‘Life is what you make it’ symbolizes living the best life you can live knowing that you control your own destiny. The more you grind, the more you’ll be able to do the things you enjoy and travel to the places you want to see so I wrote a song that celebrates that. Tomorrow is never promised, we have a choice…you can sit around and be content with what you have or strive for more for the betterment of yourself and your family.. Either way, life is what you make it.” – Diamond D

Westside Gunn Revealed He Lost $50,000 After Things ‘Weren’t Handled Right’ For His European Tour

For Westside Gunn‘s swan song year, the “Shootouts In Soho” rapper wanted to meet his fans from various parts of the world. Unfortunately, he was forced to cancel the European tour he was set to embark on, noting that logistics for the concert “weren’t handled right.”

Gunn took to Instagram to share the unfortunate news, per HipHopDX.

“It was nothing more I wanted to do than to start seeing my supporters around the world,” he said in the caption of the since-deleted post. “It’s def still a dream and I’m gonna work on it to still make it happen but unfortunately this time things weren’t handled right and that’s too far for me to be gone and something isn’t right and I’m somewhere I’ve never been and sh*t already not right now.

Gunn also revealed that because of the cancellation, he lost a huge chunk of money.

“I haven’t even been giving deposits so don’t even think I took y’all money,” he continued. “[People] out of $40 I’m out 50,000 I spent just on plane tickets!!!”

He ended his post expressing gratitude and remaining hopeful that he will get to perform for his international fans. He also promised he is working to get the dates rescheduled and that he would “make it up to” disappointed fans.

Westside Gunn And Benny The Butcher Call Out B.Dot For Being Left Off Of Best Rappers Of 2022 List

As always, Brian “B.Dot” Miller was once again able to ruffle the feathers of members of the hip-hop community with his Best Rappers of 2022 list. The list included Pusha T, Gucci Mane, and J.Cole taking the top 3 spots, and Kendrick Lamar, JID, 21 Savage, Kodak Black, Drake, Ransom, and Lil Wayne occupying the rest of the spots. B.Dot says that the list is based on skill, performance, and presence.

However, the list caught the attention of Griselda Records front-men, Westside Gunn and Benny The Butcher, who were not happy about their exclusion from the list despite having dropped projects this year.

Westside Gunn and a few other members of Griselda, including Stove God Cooks and Rome Streetz had sat down with B.Dot and Elliot Wilson for an episode of Rap Radar prior to the list coming out. However, after the list came out, Westside Gunn came out and called the interview a waste of time.

“This was a great interview but that was some weeks ago, now it’s F*CK @bdotTM bc he just don’t get it & I wasted 2hrs of my time[.]” Westside Gunn wrote. “its @GriseldaRecords ALL YEAR[.] S/O to my guy @ElliottWilson he still good he rode thru the hood w/me in the Bach.”

Benny The Butcher was also critical of being left off the list. A Twitter user asked the Tana Talk 4 artist if he thought the whole Griselda roster being left off the list was because of a bar Conway The Machine rapped about B.Dot. The user said that it’s corny if that’s the reason they were left off. Benny then confirmed that it was due to the bar and he had a run-in with one of B.Dot’s “rap friends.”

“Def tht and I had a brush in with 1 of his rap friends lol,” Benny responded.

In another response to a fan on Twitter, Benny said that B.Dot has to be eating crack to not add him or anybody from the Griselda roster to the list. “F*ck smokin crack he gotta be Eatin it,” he said.

Westside Gunn Announced Plan To Retire From Music At The End Of The Year: ‘2023 Will Be My Last Year’

Hip-hop is a culture, but thanks to decades of promotion, it has become a viable career path for many. Rapper Westside Gunn can attest to this. From the release of his music to producing for other acts and even entry into acting, the co-founder of the independent record label Griselda Records has seen his share of success. According to the producer, he is ready to hang it all up.

In a series of tweets, the musician shared, “2023 [will] definitely be my last year doing this sh*t.” His reasoning was, “I don’t have nothing else to prove.”

As a proud Buffalo, New York native, he wrote, “I put my team on. I put my city on. I worked with everybody I ever wanted to work with. Plus, m*therf*ckers still don’t even understand 1-10, FLYGOD, Awesome GOD, or Pray for Paris.”

As fans of the genre know, not many rappers genuinely retire from the music industry. But Gunn assures he is serious about his upcoming plans, writing, “I know I say I’m a retire all the time, so people might be like ‘he always says this.’ Seriously, I’ve been through so much with this sh*t behind closed doors that y’all would never know. It’s brought more pain than joy. I’m just so G that I make it look super easy, but I fight these devils every day.” One of those battles included health complications. The other is lack of support.

After listing out his rather extensive professional resume, Gunn stands on his claims of being the greatest rapper of all time, writing, “I only brought y’all the best art. I elevated the Hip-hop culture. I bridged the gap. I showed people how you could make money. I showed people to never change and do it your way. I’ve literally showed you all […] at an elite level, no compromising!”

Gunn closed out the series of tweets by thanking musicians who have supported him, including Roc Marci, Action Bronson, Alchemist, Skyzoo, Danny Brown, and more.

Westside Gunn & Benny The Butcher Throw Shots At B.Dot After Exclusion From Best Rappers Of 2022 List

Now that 2022 has officially come to a close, many have finalized their lists containing their favorite things of the year. Most popularly in the music industry, fans and media figures alike tend to share their lists of their favorite songs, albums and artists over the past 365 days.

Of course, hip-hop is one of, if not the most competitive genre. Everyone’s year-end lists surrounding rappers and hip-hop albums usually stir up some heated discussion online.

2022 is no different. One media figure who has become notorious for sharing his year-end lists is hip-hop journalist, B.Dot Miller. On December 23, the Rap Radar co-host took to his Twitter account to share his list of the best rappers of the year.

As per usual, he bases his list on skill, performance and presence. For 2022, he has Pusha T, Gucci Mane and J. Cole as the top three, in that order. Kendrick follows in the fourth spot, JID is fifth, then 21 Savage at sixth. The seventh to tenth spots belong to Kodak Black, Drake, Ransom and Lil Wayne, in that order.

The Griselda camp had an incredibly busy year yet again, collectively dropping several projects. Regardless, none of them are present on B.Dot’s list. Westside Gunn evidently isn’t happy about it.

He and some of the other Griselda crew members, including Stove God Cooks and Rome Streetz, recently sat down for an interview with B.Dot and Elliott Wilson for an episode of their Rap Radar podcast. However, this was clearly before Miller released his list.

“This was a great interview but that was some weeks ago, now it’s F*CK @bdotTM bc he just don’t get it & I wasted 2hrs of my time[.] its @GriseldaRecords ALL YEAR[.] S/O to my guy @ElliottWilson he still good he rode thru the hood w/me in the Bach,” writes the “327” rapper.

“This THURSDAY let’s start my Finale yr with a @RapRadar interview with @ElliottWilson and a few good men @BoldyJames @Stovegodcooks & @Rome_Streetz the ALMIGHTY GXFR @GriseldaRecords,” the Buffalo native writes in another tweet afterwards. In the promo picture of the group, Gunn scratches out B.Dot’s face and writes “Chump” above him.

Furthermore, Benny The Butcher is also taking exception to being left off the list. A fan replied to the Rap Radar co-host’s list asking Benny if they were left off because of a bar from Conway the Machine that mentioned B.Dot. “If so, that’s mad corny. I thought it was harmless,” the fan writes.

The bar in question is seemingly from Benny and Conway’s collaborative track from earlier this year, “Tyson vs. Ali.” The 40-year-old raps, “Tell B.Dot I said, f his list.”

The “Johnny P’s Caddy” rapper replies, insisting that this is the case. “Def tht and I had a brush in with 2 of his rap friends lol,” he says.

Additionally, Benny replied to another comment about the group’s absence when the list was originally posted in December. “F*ck smokin crack he gotta be Eatin it,” he says.

The full Griselda interview with Rap Radar is set to release this Thursday (January 5).
