Former daytime talk show queen Wendy Williams finds herself entangled in legal drama once again, this time with her ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, at the center of the storm. Hunter is currently suing Williams for two years’ worth of back alimony payments after allegedly being abruptly cut off when Williams resumed drinking and abandoned her talk show following their divorce. However, the plot thickens as Williams’ court-appointed financial guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, has filed papers demanding that Hunter return $112,500 in alimony payments that she claims he was mistakenly overpaid.
The U.S. Sun reports Morrissey contends that according to the couple’s Marital Settlement Agreement, Hunter was entitled to severance payments from Williams if her yearly earned income exceeded a certain threshold. However, with Williams’ absence from hosting “The Wendy Williams Show” for her entire last season and the subsequent cessation of her full salary payments in October 2021, Morrissey argues that Hunter continued to receive payments despite no longer meeting the criteria outlined in the agreement.
The court filing alleges that Hunter’s receipt of $112,500 in overpaid alimony constitutes unjust enrichment at Williams’ expense. Morrissey is now seeking a court order to compel Hunter to repay the sum, along with any accrued interest.
In addition to the financial dispute, Morrissey is also seeking to impose a gag order on Hunter, preventing him from speaking about the case. This move underscores the escalating tensions between Williams and Hunter, as their legal battle spills into the public eye.
In February, Lifetime put some of Wendy Williams’ most vulnerable moments on display in their controversial documentary, Where Is Wendy Williams? Almost immediately, the doc sparked a debate among fans. Many accused producers of exploiting the personality, and the reveal of her dementia and aphasia diagnoses only compounded these concerns. Despite legal pushback from her guardian, however, the doc was still released.
One of Williams’ friends to appear in the doc was Angela White, formerly known as Blac Chyna. She had an emotional conversation with Williams about her current state, offering her some words of support. During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, White reflected on her appearance and addressed the backlash the doc received.
According to White, she’s yet to watch the full doc, but feels as though she’s seen what she needed to. “I’ve seen certain clips and things like that,” she told the outlet. “I’m the type of person if I see more than what I need to see, I’m gonna have to dig and get to the bottom of certain things. And I’m just like, ‘Whatever for me is supposed to be for me.’” White then went on to reveal that she can relate to Williams’ struggle with substance abuse. According to her, the doc has the potential to help others.
“I definitely think that for me, to be honest, I think it was definitely necessary to be made… I feel like… People actually do need to see it ’cause it is happening, and it can really, honestly happen to anybody… Maybe this is gonna help other people to see,” she explained. “To see Wendy, you know, struggling obviously with the alcohol and her substances over the years, you know, it hurts, and it’s like the alcohol part with me, so it’s like I can relate to that.” What do you think of Blac Chyna’s take on Where Is Wendy Williams? Wendy Williams and Diddy haven’t always seen eye to eye. In fact, they publicly acknowledged their contempt for one another. Williams gained a reputation for often stirring the pot, garnering more than a few celebrity adversaries along the way. As far as Diddy goes, Wendy had more than a lot to say about his life and career.
In 2009, on her radio show, The Wendy Williams Experience, Williams recounted an incident where she allegedly nearly faced a confrontation with the girl group Total, who was signed to Diddy’s Bad Boy Records label. She alleged that Diddy had sent the girl group to beat her up while she was still working at Hot 97. “I got off the air one day, them Total b*tches were downstairs, and everybody upstairs at the radio station was looking down, egging it on… Waiting for something to go down,” she said. Williams later explained that her then-boyfriend had prevented the situation from escalating.
Wendy Williams Alleged That Diddy Got Her Fired From Hot 97
During her tenure at Hot 97, Wendy Williams developed a hypothesis regarding Diddy’s potential involvement in sexual encounters with other men. Allegedly, she obtained a photograph depicting a man purportedly pulling down Combs’s shorts while he vacationed in Cancun. In a 2013 interview with Vlad TV, Wendy Williams delicately addressed her departure from Hot 97. Specifically, she hinted that it was linked to her speculation concerning Diddy’s sexuality.
“There was a radio personality once upon a time and her name was Wendy Williams,” she began. “And she was practically burned at the stake for talking about such and now it’s all come full circle. There were many situations back in the day in my career and it’s all coming full circle.” Several years later, her allegation was corroborated by Diddy’s former bodyguard, Gene Deal.
In a 2022 interview with Art of Dialogue, he said: “Diddy got one of the hottest DJs off Hot 97 because she wanted to put up a picture of him getting his pants pulled down. Diddy told Hot 97 if they didn’t get rid of her before he got back in New York, that they was not going to get any music from any of his friends… Before we landed back in New York, Wendy Williams was on the radio station in Philly. It was over for her. She was fired.”
Williams Claims Diddy Put Her Through Hell
Us Weekly reported that in her 2004 book titled The Wendy Williams Experience, the talk show host expressed that she held a level of disdain towards Diddy. She also alleged that he had “single-handedly attempted to sabotage” her career. She wrote: “The hell he put me through, I will never forget. But I don’t hate him.”
Wendy Williams Insisted That Diddy Controlled Cassie
Following a brief breakup between Diddy and Cassie Ventura in 2015, Wendy Williams made some heavy claims. She speculated about a potential power dynamic imbalance between the record producer and the singer. On her televised talk show in 2015, Williams suggested that Combs might have exhibited controlling behavior. “My thing about when you date a mogul, it’s a really difficult thing to avoid them because if you use your head, you never know when they’ll pop up on the scene,” she said. Evidently, Williams’s words held significance. Cassie famously filed a lawsuit against Diddy in 2024, alleging rape, as well as physical and emotional abuse. Barely a day after the lawsuit’s filing, Diddy and his legal representatives reached an undisclosed settlement with Cassie.
Diddy’s Infamous Playboy & Party Lifestyle
During a 2015 episode of her show, Williams humorously remarked that she doubted Diddy would consider settling down, given his penchant for the party lifestyle. She quipped: “He’ll pick [a woman] and settle down but right now I don’t think he will,” Williams claimed. “I think he’s leading this playboy lifestyle where he’s got these women in his life… where he’s got them hypnotized.” Once again, this has been alleged to be leaning toward the truth. According to Lil Rod’s recent lawsuit against the mogul, Diddy has quite several women under his thumb.
Diddy “Ain’t Going Nowhere”
Wendy Williams and Diddy ultimately seemed to make up in 2017. The artist and producer made a highly anticipated guest appearance on The Wendy Williams Show. Williams expressed to Combs, revealing to the audience that it had been 15 years since they last saw each other. “I know I pissed a lot of people off, including you. But this is a full circle moment.” In 2019, the talk show host reflected on Diddy’s appearance on her show. Speaking to Sway’s Universe, she quipped: “He showed up, he smelled great, his stomach was flat. Heather, he was handsome and he ain’t going nowhere. Can’t be stopped now. Bad Boy for life.” It’s uncertain whether she alluded to his influence and power, but Williams’s sudden admiration for Diddy raised eyebrows.
Wendy Calls Diddy Out For Manipulation
In 2018, amidst one of Diddy and Cassie’s tumultuous break-ups, Wendy Williams didn’t shy away from addressing their breakup on her show. She openly expressed her views, suggesting Cassie might have invested her time in a man considerably older than her, given Diddy’s 17-year seniority. Following the announcement of their split, Diddy made a public attempt at reconciliation through social media about a week later. Initially supportive of their reunion, especially after Diddy’s heartfelt declaration of love for Cassie on her talk show, Wendy Williams later criticized his actions as manipulative. She commented: “I suggest don’t use social media, though, to reach out. This was a grand overture from Puffy. I don’t believe he really wants her or wants her back. I believe he probably treated her at some particular point like a possession… If you really care, then you’d reach out privately, not publicly.”
Two years ago, the public eye turned to Kevin Hunter Jr., the son of former daytime talk show host Wendy Williams, when he faced eviction from his Miami apartment. This eviction came amidst his mother’s financial guardianship by Wells Fargo Bank, leading to a cutoff in financial support for Kevin due to his decision to drop out of college. Now, recent reports from The Sun shed light on Kevin’s ongoing financial challenges, revealing a near-eviction scare just last month.
According to The Sun’s exclusive report, Kevin Hunter Jr. found himself on the brink of eviction once again in February. The timing was particularly striking, as it coincided with the airing of a Lifetime docuseries in which Kevin shared his experience of being cut off from his mother’s finances after her placement in guardianship. This docuseries, on which Kevin served as an executive producer, brought attention to his personal struggles, including financial instability.
The details of Kevin’s recent eviction notice paint a picture of mounting financial pressure. On February 26, his apartment building served him with an eviction notice, citing non-payment of rent. Allegedly, Kevin had failed to pay February’s rent, amounting to $4,317.08, despite his monthly rent being $3,731 as per the lease agreement. This situation followed a three-day notice of non-payment issued to Kevin on February 6, indicating a pattern of financial strain.
Fortunately, by March 5, it seems Kevin managed to resolve the matter, as the building’s attorney filed a notice to dismiss the eviction case. However, this incident adds to a series of financial setbacks Kevin has faced, including a previous eviction from a luxury apartment in Miami back in 2022.
Per RadarOnline, the amount of money in Wendy Williams’ frozen Wells Fargo account is reportedly “unknown” after figures relating to her guardianship have been paid out from the account. “You have now five attorneys who Wendy did not select and who Wendy has nothing to do with that are all getting paid out of Wendy’s finances,” an inside source told the outlet.
However, the news comes amid major restructuring for the TV icon’s team. Publicist Shawn Zanotti has reportedly been out of her role with Williams since May 2023. Meanwhile, manager Will Selby, who featured heavily in Where Is Wendy Williams?, reportedly no longer works for Williams in an official capacity. The news about Selby especially comes as a shock as recently as last month he was confirmed to still be working for her. Williams reportedly remains in a cognitive treatment facility in Florida. She recently went public with a diagnosis of dementia and aphasia.
Meanwhile, Lifetime’s Where Is Wendy Williams? aired despite a legal challenge to block the program. Just days before its late February premiere, Williams’ filed a lawsuit to block Lifetime from airing the show. Sabrina Morrissey petitioned a judge for a restraining order. However, the move was unsuccessful. Despite this, fans agreed after watching the show that it should not have been aired.
Despite this, fans were confused as to why a white attorney is Williams’ guardian, as opposed to a member of Williams’ family. “Wendy has a son, a brother, a father and a sister that is an attorney. How is this happening, why can’t one of them be her guardian? Who’s advising the son, he’s her next of kin, there has to be some rights he has! Smh, I hate seeing this happen to her. Smh,” one person noted. “Her son needs to fight to be made her guardian. How is this woman I’ll and her guardian is letting her drink entire bottles in her bedroom,” added another.
Even prior to its release, Lifetime’s new docuseries Where Is Wendy Williams? has been a hot topic of debate. The project documents the beloved personality’s battle with addiction, financial struggles, and more. Early previews sparked concern among fans, who began to grow suspicious that she was being exploited by producers. This speculation was only compounded when days before the release, it was revealed that Williams was diagnosed with dementia and aphasia. Producers have since denied knowing of Williams’ diagnosis during filming.
Now, Williams’ earnings from the docuseries have been revealed, even further fueling outrage. Reportedly, she was paid $400K. While that’s certainly no small chunk of change, some fans think she deserved far more for the project, which put some of her most vulnerable moments on display. Allegedly, the 18-page contract she signed in 2023 with Lifetime’s parent company outlines a payment plan, which would see her earn $100K per episode of the docuseries. She was also reportedly given a daily stipend of $1K to cover hair, makeup, and other grooming costs.
Producers of the doc continue to face scrutiny for their participation in the project, particularly considering some recent revelations about Williams’ financial situation. Earlier this month, for example, it was reported that there was a federal tax lien imposed on her NYC condo. Reports suggest that the icon owes the government $558,451.57 in unpaid taxes. Her ex-husband Kevin Hunter also recently accused Williams’ own sister of taking advantage of her financially.
Allegedly, her sister took roughly $15 million from her while she was undergoing treatment in Florida. What do you think of Where Is Wendy Williams? Fans have been up in arms about Lifetime’s new docuseries Where Is Wendy Williams? since before it was even released. Early previews gave viewers an intimate look at some of the personality’s most vulnerable moments. She opened up about her financial struggles, clashed with her staff, and more. It didn’t help that only days before the first episode of the doc came out, it was revealed that Williams was diagnosed with dementia and aphasia in 2023. Of course, this prompted even more suspicion that the icon was exploited by producers, though they deny knowing of her diagnosis before filming.
Last month, Williams’ temporary guardian Sabrina Morrissey filed a lawsuit against Lifetime’s parent company in an attempt to prevent the doc from coming out. Ultimately, her attempt was unsuccessful. Now, however, previously sealed documents from the suit have been unveiled. The docs reveal details of Williams’ current condition, as well as Morrissey’s argument.
Sabrina Morrissey Claims Wendy Williams Needs Daily Supervision
In her suit, Morrissey claimed that Williams wasn’t capable of handling her own business affairs when she signed the contract. She also said Williams couldn’t handle her executive producer role to ensure she was portrayed in a dignified light. According to her, Williams needs constant supervision to “ensure her safety, well-being, and comfort, and to preserve her dignity.”
Morrissey maintains that the docuseries was pitched to her as an uplifting comeback story. She also claims that she believed she’d have an opportunity to watch the final cut before it aired. Obviously, that didn’t happen, and countless fans and peers think producers did the beloved talk show host dirty. What do you think of Where Is Wendy Williams? It goes without saying that it’s been a tough few months for Wendy Williams. The personality’s Lifetime docuseries came out last month and has since resulted in a great deal of controversy. Just ahead of the doc’s release, it was also revealed that Williams has been diagnosed with dementia and aphasia. For these reasons, supporters suspect foul play on the part of producers and accuse them of exploiting Williams by putting her most vulnerable moments on display for the world to see.
In the doc, for example, Williams opens up about her financial struggles, revealing that she’s not bringing in the kind of money that she used to. There have also been various reports that people in her life, including her own family members, have stolen money from her. Now, the icon is facing yet another serious consequence of her fortune running dry.
According to TMZ, the federal government recently hit Williams with a tax lien on her New York City condo. This means that if she doesn’t pay up soon, they can start foreclosure proceedings, and take ownership of the property themselves. According to legal docs filed in January, she currently owes them $558,451.57 in unpaid taxes. Records show that she purchased the condo back in 2021 for roughly $4.5 million. This latest development has only increased fans’ concerns surrounding Williams’ team.
The outlet reports that her financial guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, was appointed in the spring of 2022. It’s unclear at the time of writing whether or not she, or Williams, is handling the violations. What do you think of reports that Wendy Williams owes over $500K in unpaid taxes? Are you surprised? A report from Radar Online has revealed that neither the longtime manager nor publicist of Wendy Williams currently working for the TV legend despite their heavy presence in her recent documentary.
The reason behind both departures has not been made public at this time. However, many fans are reportedly glad to see both exits, believing that both individuals were taking advantage of Williams. Despite the departures, Williams reportedly remains in a cognitive treatment facility in Florida.
However, fans were confused as to why a white attorney is Williams’ guardian, as opposed to a member of Williams’ family. “Wendy has a son, a brother, a father and a sister that is an attorney. Wendy Williams’ ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, says he hasn’t received payments from his divorce settlement since the talk show host was placed under court-order guardianship. In turn, he is requesting two years of back pay, according to court documents obtained by Radar Online.
“I have not received my severance payments since January of 2022, which Plaintiff is required to make pursuant to the Matrimonial Settlement Agreement,” he said. “This is an emergent matter because I rely on the severance pay for my living expenses and having been without this income for twenty-three months has affected me greatly.” He added: “Therefore, I respectfully request that the Court require [Wendy] to immediately pay all severance payments which may be due and owing at the time of this Court’s Order.”

Hunter also says he’s been trying to resolve the matter for years at this point. “Since October 2021 I have tried to resolve this issue in multiple ways including previous motion and mediation, with no cooperation from the Plaintiff,” he said. “As a result, I had no choice but to file this motion in this matter. I would not have had to file this motion if the Plaintiff did not stop my severance payments and if the Plaintiff would have signed the Qualified Domestic Relations Order for the SAG-AFTRA Retirement Plan.”
Williams and Hunter were married from 1999 through 2020. They share one child together. Be on the lookout for further updates on Kevin Hunter and Wendy Williams on HotNewHipHop.
