Wendy Williams’ court-appointed legal guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, is reportedly in a legal battle with the production companies behind the Where Is Wendy Williams? documentary, according to a Tuesday (November 26) report from The Sun. For those unaware, the TV host was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia in May of 2023, about a year after a guardianship started to manage her health and finances. While the February 2024 documentary – which Lifetime, A&E, and others produced – intended to portray a comeback through a podcast, it revealed a lot of controversies around her mental state and who was really looking out for her.

Furthermore, Sabrina Morrissey sued Lifetime, A&E Television Networks, Entertainment One, and Creature Films for this “blatant exploitation” of Wendy Williams’ struggles, per court documents reportedly obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. Morrissey’s legal team alleged that Williams’ “permanent incapacitation” means that she could not consent to the series. In addition, they accused producers of tricking her into thinking this would be a celebratory and flattering depiction. “She thought we were focusing on the comeback of her career,” Williams’ longtime publicist Shawn Zanotti told NBC News. “Wendy would be mortified if she saw how she was portrayed.”

Per The U.S. Sun‘s report, the networks claim Sabrina Morrissey attempts to eliminate critical views of her “controversial and failed administration.” As for why, they alleged that Morrissey feels embarrassed by what the documentary says about her guardianship. In addition, the networks defended their “honest and unfiltered window” into her life and said that they paid her team much more than what Morrissey claimed.

Not only that, but the networks also pointed to Wendy Williams’ family, indicating that they approved the documentary and also participated in promo interviews for it. An appellate judge denied Sabrina Morrissey the chance to block the doc’s release, and the defendants accused her of focusing on her own reputation. Both sides seek damages and attorney’s fees. At the moment, no one knows how this legal dispute could resolve, or what it would cost Wendy.

Wendy Williams’ guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, has provided an update on the former broadcaster’s health in a new court filing obtained by the New York Post. Morrissey and her legal team further argue that the defendants “intentionally manipulated and goaded” Williams “to trigger strong emotional reactions and acquire embarrassing footage.” She wants the court to redact aspects of Williams’ “health, familial relationships, and finances” to protect her privacy. On the other side, attorneys for the defense have agreed that Williams gave her “consent, input, and participation” prior to being diagnosed with dementia. Both sides have requested a trial, which is expected to last between two to four weeks.

While Williams’ health began to decline in recent years, a court placed her in a legal guardianship in 2022. The guardianship oversees her health and finances. Her bank, Wells Fargo, had claimed she was “incapacitated” at the time. Williams was first diagnosed with primary aggressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia back in 2023. In May, on a recent episode of comedian Andrew Schulz’s Flagrant podcast, Charlamagne Tha God alleges that Diddy got troubled talk show host Wendy Williams fired from Hot 97 over claims that the Bad Boy founder was homosexual.

Charlamagne delves into the almost thirty-year history between his mentor, Williams, and Diddy.

“Wendy’s whole thing was Diddy was gay,” Charlamagne said. “That’s why Wendy got fired from Hot 97. Wendy got fired from Hot 97 by Diddy ’cause that’s when Bad Boy was smoking hot. She got fired for putting that out there.”

The former Wendy Williams Show host supposedly had a photo of Diddy in an intimate situation with another man, suggesting that Diddy was gay, which ultimately got her fired from the radio station in 1998.

While announcing forthcoming lawsuits of over 100 people who claim to be victims of Sean “Diddy” Combs, attorney Tony Buzbee stated there will be additional enablers to go down with the mogul.

“We will expose the enablers who enabled this conduct behind closed doors. We will pursue this matter no matter who the evidence implicates,” Buzbee said. “The day will come when we will name names other than Sean Combs, and there’s a lot of names. It’s a long list already, but because of the nature of this case, we are going to make damn sure — damn sure – that we’re right before we do that.”

He added, “The names will shock you.”

The lawsuits are expected to roll out across various states within the next 30 days and highlight those who were bystanders or encouraged the behavior. “I would imagine that as we speak here, there are a myriad of people who are very nervous. You can’t hide skeletons in the closet forever. I would expect there are many people out there right now who are desperately searching their memories as they delete their texts and data.”

Victims are allegedly as young as minors, including someone who was 9 years old.

We used to see Wendy Williams on a daily basis. She was the host of The Wendy Williams Show from 2008 to 2021. In the years since the show ended, however, the celebrity has been increasing harder to spot. She has removed herself from the spotlight. So much so, in fact, that a sighting of her is now big enough news to make headlines. The sighting occurred on August 19. Wendy Williams visited a store in New Jersey and posed for a photo with the owner, Victor Bowman. Page Six reported that the former TV host was “sharp, upbeat and aware,” in addition to being “very bubbly.”

An employee told the outlet that Wendy Williams was looking for various holistic products. “She talked about circulation improvement,” they recalled. “But didn’t want to get into too much detail on their first meeting and plans to come back in the near future.” The employee also said Williams’ son, Kevin Hunter, Jr., was explaining some of the products to her. “[She] was engaging but wasn’t as familiar with what we do her,” they added.
