Offset Recalls Drake Collaboration Leading To Women Visiting Him In Jail

Offset says that his life behind bars changed after Drake provided a feature to Migos’ breakthrough single, “Versace,” back in 2013. At the time, Offset was locked up for violating his probation stemming from prior felony convictions for burglary and theft. Offset recalled the time in his life during a recent appearance on the Call Her Daddy Podcast.

“I had a visitation thing,” he began. “I’m married now ya’ll, so this is nothing cr*zy. This is before my wife. You could have six visits in one day. They 30 minutes a piece. I had my mom on there, and I had like, six girls I was dealing with, but they wasn’t coming! My momma was coming every week, but the girls wasn’t coming!”

Offset continued: “Then all of a sudden, downstairs, they like, ‘You got six visits.’ I’m like, I got six visits? I’m tryna think like… bro, they sit in the lobby. It’s like a screen, and it pops up the face, and they put they name and my name, and they’re going up and coming down, saying something to each other. Back to back. And I’m like, oh shit. I’m kinda like, what the fuck goin’ on. And my momma like son, it’s a lot of girls. I’m like mom, I don’t know. I just put them on the list. There is no doubt that Migos’ “Versace” single was the smash hit tht pushed them into the category of A-list celebrities, but Offset wasn’t able to fully enjoy the success of the trio’s first single because he was incarcerated at the time of its release. In an exclusive interview on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Offset shared the experience of the moment he realized that Migos had become household names.

“At the time, I was in jail when my song [‘Versace’] blew up, and then Drake hopped on the remix,” Offset explained. “One day, I was in my jail cell, it was like 6 in the morning during count, and the guard was singing my song as he was doing the count.” He added, “I was in there, not really telling people what’s happening because I didn’t really know. I just knew something was happening, but my mind was all over the place. The guard was doing the count, singing, ‘Versace, Versace, Versace.’ He walked off, still singing the song, and I was like, ‘What the heck?’”

Even though Offset was behind bars, he says that people began treating him like a celebrity after Versace. “I had to sit down for another few months, but I had this visitation thing… I could have six visits in one day, 30 minutes each. At first, it was just my mom visiting me every week, but suddenly, everything changed. I got six visits, back-to-back. That’s when I realized, ‘Oh, wow, this is crazy.’ That was my first taste of it.”

As one fan on Reddit posited, it’s hard for many to ignore the dissonance between her background and her abilities. “It’s so funny how she eschews her nepotism and connection to the Klan bc look at this s**t. And it’s extra funny that she will never improve bc she is a narcissist/egomaniac,” one user brutally stated. Regardless of whether you agree or not, it’s also tough to solely single out Kendall Jenner for doing something that plenty of celebrities have the luxury to do.

What’s more is that last year, the entrepreneur and model also faced backlash for suggesting her path was rougher than it was. Moreover, the 20-year-old might be enrolled at the University of Southern California, but it’s clear she’s got plenty of ambition to walk across both worlds. Sure, she still faced accusations of nepotism and criticism of her walk itself, but the young have to start somewhere and take advantage of their opportunities to really make it. In a social media post commemorating the occasion, Kobe’s daughter expressed a lot of gratitude for the people that made it happen.

Thank you to @piergiorgio @dmcasting @patmcgrathreal @guidopalau @imgmodels.” What’s more is that this isn’t the only big-name entertainment route that she’s pursing. She’s also worked a lot with Beyoncé for her Ivy Park campaigns, and most recently as an intern for her RENAISSANCE World Tour. Beyonce didn’t disappoint delivering one of the biggest shows on the tour so far. She also gave fans a special treat when she brought out Kendrick Lamar for a performance of the pair’s “AMERICA WE HAVE A PROBLEM” remix. NAACP Image Awards Red Carpet: Zendaya Slays In Vintage Versace

Some of the biggest award ceremonies of the year have already gone down, including the Grammys and the BRITs. Thankfully, there are still plenty of red carpet looks coming our way with the Oscars quickly approaching and tonight’s SAG Awards. On Saturday (February 25), Hollywood was a busy place as well, thanks to the annual NAACP Image Awards.

Hosted by Queen Latifah, this year’s ceremony paid tribute to some of the greatest Black talents in the industry. Athlete Serena Williams was honoured with the Jackie Robinson Sports Award. Elsewhere, Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union gave a heartfelt speech after receiving the President’s Award. The show itself was undeniably heartwarming, but what really had viewers talking was the red carpet.

Each and every attendee stepped out in their best-dressed, but one rose above them all to steal the show – Zendaya. For her first carpet of the season, the Euphoria actress broke necks in her stunning vintage Versace gown. Bright electric green strips of fabric draw in the eye on her chest and throughout the skirt, reminding fans how refined her style truly is.

Of course, she couldn’t spend the evening sporting just one dress. When it was time for her to take the stage inside, Zendaya had changed into another throwback piece – a decades-old Prada look that found her channelling supermodel Yasmeen Ghauri. Both looks, styled by Law Roach, clearly have social media in a chokehold today.
