Kendrick Lamar Uses New Song To Score Chanel Short Film

Kendrick Lamar and his creative agency with Dave Free, pgLang, are credited with servicing Chanel’s new short film in promotion of the brand’s Spring-Summer 2024 Haute Couture. While Lamar soundtracked the piece with a new song, Free wrote and directed the video. The full film of the Chanel Spring-Summer 2024 Haute Couture show will release on Tuesday, January 23.

Sharing the promotional clip on Instagram, Saturday, Free wrote: “At the invitation of Virginie Viard, Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free meet the world of CHANEL Haute Couture for the first time, bringing to life a story about time and transmission. Actress and House ambassador Margaret Qualley plunges us into the tale ‘The Button’ alongside actress and House ambassador Anna Mouglalis, as well as friend of the House Naomi Campbell.” Kenny Beats, Karrueche, and more shared praise in the comments section.

The new song is Lamar’s first solo work since his 2022 album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. In the time since, he’s focused on collaborative efforts with Baby Keem, including “The Hillbillies.” He’s also worked with Taylor Swift for the rerecorded version of her song, “Bad Blood,” as well as Beyonce for her single, “America Has a Problem.” He and Free launched pgLang in 2020 following Lamar’s departure from Top Dawg Entertainment. In a mission statement from the time, the company said: “PGLang is focused on using our experiences, and nurturing our many collaborators, to build stories that are equally accessible and engaging then fitting them within the best media.” Check out their work on Chanel’s latest project below.

Yesterday, Pharrell got to host his Louis Vuitton fashion show for the Fall/Winter 2024 season. It was a pretty cool show that even featured the likes of Pusha T. Furthermore, a ton of big celebrities were there, including those from the hip-hop world. The new collection is Cowboy-themed and explores the America Old West. It is a really cool concept, and as you can imagine, it was accompanied by some Pharrell music. For instance, below, you can hear a song with none other than Miley Cyrus.

This is definitely a collab no one saw coming, but alas. Pharrell has always been eager to try new things, and that trend will continue for years to come.

Elsewhere, Balenciaga convinced the 31-year-old to make her runway debut this past weekend, and unfortunately, it’s not being entirely positively received. Critics online are comparing Cardi’s unique makeup look from yesterday’s big event to the face of Lil Kim, who’s long faced criticism from outsiders for her past attempts to radically alter her appearance with plastic surgery. “Cardi going out sad… The Lil Kim way 🙄🤢 ,” one Twitter user wrote while comparing images of the two lyricists.

On Saturday (December 2), an abundance of our favourite stars were in Los Angeles for the Fall 24 runway presentation, including Sexyy Red, Kim Kardashian, Teyana Taylor, Salma Hayek, and Tracee Ellis Ross. Holding things down for the gentleman in the vicinity were the “Bandz A Make Her Dance” collaborators, who had the opportunity to sit in the front row.

From their prestigious spot, Chainz and Weezy were able to cheer on Cardi B as she made her runway debut. While seeing new fashion is always exciting, many social media users were shocked to see Balenciaga getting so much public support after being cancelled for endangering children just months ago. The brand released a campaign photographing underage people holding BDSM-clad teddy bears, much to the public’s shock and disgust. In the time afterward, it seemed as though the foreign company was done for good, but obviously, the opposite is true. As per usual, people have plenty to say about this, and they’re not holding back.

Usher Catches Heat For Ridiculous Balenciaga Fashion Show Outfit

Usher is having a great moment right now. Overall, he has his Las Vegas residency which has proven to be a massive success. Moreover, he is going to be performing at the Super Bowl in February, which is going to be a whole lot of fun. At this point in his career, he is getting his flowers, and it is truly nice to see. With the excitement for his Super Bowl performance mounting, it feels like we have seen a bit more of him recently. For instance, he was at a Balenciaga Fashion show this past weekend.

Unfortunately, Usher was utterly roasted for his choice of attire for the show. As you can see in the Instagram post below, the singer was wearing a face mask that had randomly cut holes all the way throughout. He also had on some wild boots, some crazy pants, a blazer, and what appeared to be a turtleneck. It was an absolutely ridiculous get-up, and he was promptly destroyed for it on social media. @fitaintnothing on IG showed no mercy, as can be seen in the caption below.

Saweetie performed at Philipp Plein’s show during Milan Fashion Week on Saturday, taking over the stage to perform her 2021 hit with Doja Cat, “Best Friend.” For the event, Saweetie rocked a black bikini and a floor-length black coat accented by bright green nails.

“Fashion is a serious business, but the clothes have to be fun,” Philipp Plein said as noted by WWD, before taking a bow on stage with Saweetie. She wasn’t the only artist to perform during the show. Quavo also kicked the night off while rocking a silver jacket and leather flares.

Kanye West’s travels around Europe unlocked something in him, for better or worse considering his recent controversies. Regardless, fans went wild when they heard new reports that Yeezy is working on a new album, which seems to be manifesting. Moreover, he recently previewed new music at the Mowalola SS 2024 Fashion Show in London, and it sounds a tad different to what you might expect. Of course, this isn’t the first time that he worked with trap aesthetics- very far from it, in fact. Still, given suggestions that the 46-year-old is working with older sounds, it struck some fans as an interesting misdirection.

Whether that’s actually the case or we’re getting more of the same Donda 2 filler remains to be seen. Either way, fans split up into two different camps: those who want to hear what Ye does and those who are more interested in what Ye says. As revered as Kanye West’s production is, it’s no surprise that many fans will more closely scrutinize the lyrical content given his antisemitic rhetoric. With lines like “P***y like a Steph three, straight water / Baby, what’s the killer price? Kevin Costner,” it seems like we’ll only find out where he’s going when (or rather, if) the project drops.
