Now, we have some rumors based on alleged collaborators that said day is soon to come. Moreover, Rooga recently appeared on the No Jumper podcast and claimed that Ye is putting together a new album in Japan, where his wife Bianca Censori is also staying with him. While the host, Adam 22, tried to get more details out of the Chicago rhymer, all he said was that “he’s working on an album.”

Of course, given the Yeezy mogul’s track record when it comes to released music, any news of a Kanye West record on the way is bound to make huge waves. Still, the most interesting thing that a new project will demonstrate, maybe, is how much his controversies bleed into it. After all, following his 2009 disruption at the MTV VMAs, reflections on fame, narrative, and being “the bad guy” fueled My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. With rampant antisemitism and his messy divorce from Kim Kardashian in mind, this could make for either a retribution or a disappointing double-down for the 46-year-old.

Ahead of his upcoming album AUSTIN, Post Malone just dropped another single from the project titled “Overdrive.” Despite what the song’s title might have you believe, this is actually a softer cut that functions more like a ballad with its instrumentation, tempo, and vocal style. Sure, this is far from the first time that the Texas artist worked with more indie-rock, alt-rock, or even singer-songwriter sounds in his discography. That being said, this is still definitely one of the most overt and well-crafted examples of that in his hit-filled repertoire. On “Overdrive,” Post champions simplicity as his way forward, keeping things short, sweet, and structurally swelling.

Furthermore, on that last point, the track’s melodic and harmonic elements come from some simple piano chords, guitar strumming, and a string arrangement that pops out here and there. As such, the strings are what really elevate “Overdrive” and give it some forward momentum, coming in and out of the mix at various points. Elsewhere, Post Malone’s vocal melody is fitting for this type of track, as is the slinky bassline and melancholy guitar riff. Considering his career trajectory, this hints at a very compelling direction for the 28-year-old’s next full-length, as he fits this ballad mold quite well. His vocals soar without excessive tampering, the chord progression changes are tasteful, and he presented some interesting lyrical themes.

Benny The Butcher are cooking up something good for the former’s upcoming August collaborative project with Hit-Boy, Everybody Can’t Go. Moreover, the Griselda affiliate recently took to Instagram Live to give fans a taste of what’s to come, and included a brief tease of a potential Weezy collab that might appear on the album. While it’s a (very) short snippet, just the Young Money legend’s voice got fans pumped.

Benny The Butcher Teases Lil Wayne Feature

Hopefully this collab drops, as the Tana Talk 4 rhymer had bad luck with them in the past. “They hit me and was like, ‘Hov got an idea of a song he wanted you to do,” Benny The Butcher told Joe Budden of a potential Jay-Z team-up. “And then the day that I linked up with him, I’m just kicking it with him.We having drinks and s**t, and he didn’t mention the song. And as soon as he said that, somebody was like, ‘Yo, we need you,’ and they called him over. He left and it never got brought up again. This like, two, three years ago.”

As one Lil Uzi Vert album releases and a hype cycle ends, another rises from the ashes to take its place. Moreover, after the success and buzz around their latest and highly anticipated album Pink Tape, they are once again in project mode, teasing the release of Luv Is Rage 3. For those unfamiliar with his work, it’s characterized by sharp lines and wordplay, an emphasis on grimy production, and a confident delivery as he spits out street bars. If this newest single is anything to go by, this may well be one of the New York rapper’s best projects in a while. Moreover, “OG” is a dark and menacing soundscape layered with tales of Ortiz’s age, life experiences, and injustice.

King Von & Tee Grizzley Grew Up “Heartless” On New Single

King Von’s upcoming posthumous album Grandson (arriving July 14) will be an important moment in the late rapper’s career. Moreover, it will be his second body of work after his passing, and many wonder whether it will stick the landing considering that many releases in this vein can feel exploitative. That being said, if this new track “Heartless” with Tee Grizzley is anything to go by, fans should expect to be satisfied. This is the kind of track that Von perfected during his career, with the right balance of aggression, darkness, but also sorrow. While the bars here may paint a harsh picture of the streets, the instrumental gives it a somber tone that puts it all into context.

Furthermore, high-pitched keys and atmospheric pads lead the melody and harmony on “Heartless.” It almost sounds nostalgic, but the hard trap drums ground the track in its violent subject matter. In addition, there are some buried choir vocals that make the beat feel more eerie, despite the fact that they’re quite subtle in the mix. Like much of King Von’s catalog, this track has a haunting feel that contrasts well with his bars. Mr. Travis Scott has been in the news a decent amount recently, despite not putting out much new music. A grand jury just cleared the Houston native days ago for the Astroworld Festival tragedy that happened at one of his concerts in 2021, in which multiple fans in the crowd were crushed to death. Since he’s avoided criminal and civil charges, the rapper is back to making content for the world. He was on Lil Uzi Vert’s new album, Pink Tape, with the mosh pit banger “Aye.” This marks the first collaboration between the two since 2018’s “Watch.”

Now, Travis Scott is setting his sights on a brand-new album, complete with hijinks media stunts. From the verified Twitter account TRAVIS SCOTT FAN PAGE (@RodeoTheAlbum), Scott is getting ready to unleash UTOPIA, his first full-length album since 2018’s Astroworld. And he’s already pulling off some publicity for the announced project. He’s dropping an album trailer soon, with Scott “‘looking for UTOPIA’ in different countries across the world,” according to the Tweet. There’s also a video of Travis Scott spray-painting the word “UTOPIA” in Tarragona, Spain. This gives credit to the international feel of the album trailer.

King Von’s Upcoming Posthumous Album “Grandson” Divides Fans

Grandson will be King Von’s next posthumous release, as his estate recently announced via social media. Moreover, the project is scheduled to release on July 14, and the cover art features a black and white picture of the rapper’s son wearing a fitted hat and OTF and O’Block chains. While this is obviously very exciting news for fans, it’s also something that made them cautious and skeptical. After all, other posthumous releases are bloated, disrespectful, or poorly put together in fans’ eyes. As such, the comments section under the announcement split fans into optimistic excitement and wary assessment.

Of course, plenty of comments just feature fire and heart emojis, indicating a simple but powerful support of the album and King Von’s musical legacy. “Finally! This gonna slap. With her second album COI arriving on June 23, Coi Leray is in heavy promo mode for her next moves. As such, she’s probably very busy shooting visuals, taking press deals, and apparently debuting new looks like the one she just teased. Moreover, the rapper posted an Instagram Reel of her getting ready for what seems like a shoot, whether for a music video or something else entirely. Foregoing her usual long locks, she apparently rocked a short haircut with curls as her team put some hairspray on. Looking sultrily at the camera as her single “Bops” played in the background, she said that there are “good things coming” very soon.

Of course, this is far from the first time that she teased some sort of visual for that song in particular. Just last weekend, Coi Leray and a couple of her friends put on a twerk show for the camera while “Bops” played, yet it’s unclear if it’ll be a part of the music video or if she just built some hype. Regardless, the 26-year-old keeps leveling up and making waves that set the stage for her next moves. We’re only a month away from COI‘s release, but we’re sure that there will be much more to cover from her in that meantime.

However, a lot of fans were left a little confused with the album’s tracklist, which the Boston native revealed on Monday (May 22). Furthermore, a lot of that confusion stems from the features, which don’t include the array of U.S. rappers and hitmakers that appeared on Coi Leray’s debut album Trendsetter. Rather, COI will bring on David Guetta, Saucy Santana, Giggs, Lola Brooke, Skillibeng, and none other than James Brown, somehow. All this points to more genre diversity, but singles like “Players” and the teased “Make My Day” (with Guetta) hint towards heavy sample use, plus a more electronic and dance-inspired direction.

Conway The Machine Cashes Out More Than “Quarters” On New Single

Ahead of a host of new albums dropping soon, whether it’s his solo effort Won’t He Do It or his collaborative project with 38 Spesh, Conway The Machine is letting fans know early that he’s bound to meet his high quality standards. Moreover, he just released the single “Quarters,” which actually takes a slightly different approach to his usual production. The Khrysis-produced beat involves some trademarks: engaging and crisp boom-bap drums, ghostly tones, occasional chimes, and a funky lead melody. However, the buzzy staccato bass hits actually give this track a pretty unorthodox sonic pallet for Conway’s typical fare.

Lyrically, the amicably departed Griselda alum delivers a quick but impressive verse. His coke rap subject matter (however common, tried, or true) is still brought to life by lines like “Water-whipped the ounces, it’s residue in that coffee pot.” Of course, staying in that lane for the whole verse doesn’t leave much room for dynamics or a change in pace. Instead, where this track succeeds is in keeping you engaged in his layered, multi-syllabic, and expertly flowed rhymes from beginning to end. As a surprise, the track’s music video also includes the non-streaming track “Brucifix” with Westside Gunn.

Conway The Machine’s “Quarters”

Switching to Conway The Machine’s next moves, he just released a short collab tape with Drumwork signee Jae Skeese. Furthermore, as far as his upcoming team-up with 38 Spesh, it should make for a concise and gripping encounter. “Me and Conway got an album,” Spesh revealed to Bootleg Kev. “The people gotta get ready for that. It’s done, I’m gonna follow up after Gunsmoke [his recently released album] with that. The name of that album is called Special Machinery. Something serious, Special Machinery, we on there getting busy and shit, you know what I’m saying. I produced the whole joint, me and my guy Jimmy Dukes.
