Gunna And Pete Davidson Put Their Talents To Good Use In A Rap About ‘Short-Ass Movies’ On ‘SNL’

Gunna put forth another highlight moment in his stellar 2022 year through a recent appearance on Saturday Night Live. His debut appearance on the show came after he kicked off the year with his third album DS4EVER. It’s highlighted by “Pushin P” with Future and Young Thug as well as other records with the likes of 21 Savage, Drake, Chloe Bailey, Lil Baby, G Herbo, and more. DS4EVER went on to be Gunna’s second No. 1 album following 2020’s Wunna. During his SNL appearance, he celebrated the album with performances of “Pushin P” and “Banking On Me,” but he also made sure to have some fun with some of the show’s cast members.

During last night’s episode of SNL, Gunna teamed up with Pete Davidson, Simon Rex, and Chris Redd for a rap about “short-ass movies.” The group gave quick reactions to short films like The Lion King and Austin Powers while joking about longer ones like Amadeus, Once Upon A Time In America and Heat. Elsewhere in the sketch, Davidson goes to see the new three-hour Batman movie and ends up pissing his pants. The group even slips in a joke about Judd Apatow’s The King Of Staten Island, which stars Davidson and clocks in at 137 minutes

Nicki Minaj Will Be The First Guest To Join James Corden For The Return Of ‘Carpool Karaoke’

Say what you want to about James Corden, but he’s got a winner in Carpool Karaoke. The late-night segment is an absolute delight, one of the few completely wholesome things to look forward to in our modern-day hellscape of the internet. Sure, it’s basically easy PR for celebrities, but watching the Stranger Things kids belt out Biggie Smalls or Cardi B struggle to parallel park are fun little ways of both bringing these people down to earth and commiserating in our common faults.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 safety protocols, the bit has been off the air for the past two years, as social distancing complicated the filming too much to make it a regular occurrence. Well, social distancing guidelines have relaxed — for better or worse — and it’s pretty obvious the world could use more joy, so Corden and the gang are bringing the beloved segment back. Beginning on April 6, Carpool Karaoke returns to The Late Late Show with first guest Nicki Minaj, according to the show’s Twitter:

Nicki’s appearance will be followed on April 18 with another segment featuring Camila Cabello. The announcement lends fuel to the rumors that Nicki Minaj is planning to release an album this year after sharing a slew of singles and feature verses including her own “Do We Have A Problem?” and Coi Leray’s “Blick Blick.” Cabello’s also got a new album coming, Familia, which will feature Ed Sheeran and Willow. “I am not pregnant, fuckyouverymuch,” she tweets. “LET A BITCH EAT DRINK AND BE MERRY.”

Rae, 37, has always been private with her personal life. She married her husband, Louis Diame, last year in a private ceremony in the South of France. In September 2021, she opened up about her marriage in a cover story for Self Magazine.

“I’m extremely happy [being married],” Rae said. “[But] I like my life, I like this selfishness, and I know that I have a window. I’ve always felt that way, that women, Black women especially—unless you’re Viola Davis or Angela Bassett—you have a window when people are going to want to continue to see you and see what you can do. Then there are so many limitations placed upon you, and that does keep me up.”

Chris Rock’s Brother Tony Rock Doesn’t Accept Will Smith’s Apology

Screen Shot 2022 03 30 at 9.03.53 PM

Diddy said that Chris Rock and Will Smith were still good following the slap heard around the world, but his brother comedian Tony Rock said don’t break out the olive branches just yet.

Chris Rock’s younger sibling Tony Rock held a Q&A on Twitter yesterday, where he answered questions about his brother Chris getting slapped on stage at the Oscars on live television. When one of the participants asked Tony whether he accepted the apology, Tony replied matter of factly with a resounding, “No.” Asked by another if he and his brother were going to “fight fire with fire” or take “the professional route,” Rock responded, “It’s on bro.”

Rock himself finally addressed the ordeal during a stand-up set at The Wilbur in Boston and told the audience, “I’m still trying to process what happened.”

Diddy Lied About Will Smith And Chris Rock Reconciling After The Oscars Slap, Rock’s Brother Claims

A couple days ago, Diddy insisted that Will Smith and Chris Rock settled their differences after the former infamously slapped the latter during the 2022 Oscars. He said at the time, “That’s not a problem. That’s over. I can confirm that. […] It’s all love. They’re brothers.”

Since then, though, there have been reports that what Diddy said isn’t entirely accurate, as a TMZ report indicated Smith and Rock have not spoken since the slap. That report was later updated to note, “A source in Diddy’s camp tells us he never claimed Chris and Will met up — he spoke with them individually — and then reiterated what he said on stage, the two are brothers and ‘it’s all love.’”

Now, somebody close to Rock — his brother, actor and comedian Tony Rock — has weighed in, reiterating that Rock and Smith have not made up. Somebody asked Tony Rock on Twitter, “so Diddy was lying when he said Chris and Will made up that night and are good now?” He responded simply, “Yup.”

It would appear, then, the closest thing to contact the two have had since the incident was Smith’s public apology, which reads in part, “I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”

image002 4

FOX SOUL, the Black community’s top free streaming platform serving Black content 365 days a year, has announced that platinum-selling recording artist Maino’s Kitchen Talk series would be available for streaming.

Kitchen Talk is not a culinary show or a love show; it’s a show that delivers a vibe with in-depth chats about life, co-hosted by Platinum-selling recording artist Maino, Georgie, and Hala. The stories are sometimes funny, sometimes encouraging, but they are stories for the culture at the end of the day.

“FOX SOUL partnering with Kitchen Talk gives us the ability to reach a broader audience,” says Greg J. Gavin, executive producer. “When the show first started, the vision was to be able to create an impact on the culture and reflect growth. FOX SOUL is the platform that will assist in us becoming a staple in the media business. The most important thing about this partnership is we now have a partner to help spread the VIBE.”

From a tough past to a male influence, Maino’s tale demonstrates that it’s not how you start that matters but the work you put in to change the story. Georgie, a single mother of two boys, exemplifies strength and can relate to and inspire many women of color not to let anyone or anything stand in the way of being powerful and influential. Hala is also a young woman whose faith and determination will inspire and motivate others in the future. Kitchen Talk is unscripted culture.

Kitchen Talk is a video podcast that aims to bridge the gap between cultural and transformational discussions. Kitchen Talk seeks to motivate the future generation to work hard and never quit, no matter what is thrown their way, through motivational anecdotes and celebrations of our rhythms and blues.

Kitchen Talk will feature Angie Martinez, Fat Joe, Remy Ma, and DJ Envy. Kitchen Talk is executive produced by Maino and Greg J. Gavin. You can see the official trailer below.

Is This The Year Of Olivia Rodrigo? ‘Obsessed’ Previews The 2022 Grammys

The 2022 Grammys are right around the corner and this year sees a number of major changes to the ceremony. Along with being postponed and moved from LA to Las Vegas, the Recording Academy expanded the number of nominees to ten in all four of their major categories; Album Of The Year, Best New Artist, Song Of The Year, and Record Of The Year.

More nominees mean more great music to choose from, and that’s why the latest episode of Obsessed has hosts Taylour Chanel and Hollis Wong-Wear walking us through each major category and sharing who they think should win. The pair kick things off by talking about how this year’s Grammys will most likely be dominated by Olivia Rodrigo, who is expected win big.

Though Rodrigo could sweep the major categories, there are still a number of very deserving artists nominated this year. Taylour and Hollis shout out their personal favorites this year, like Silk Sonic’s groovy “Leave The Door Open” and Doja Cat’s undeniable bop “Kiss Me More.”

The Grammys may have nominated more artists this year, but there are still some glaring omissions from the list. Something we explore while noting the lack of talented international artists like BTS and Bad Bunny. This before diving into a conversation about the Grammys’ current cultural impact and what the future of the awards ceremony might look like.
