Chrisean Rock Attack Left James Wright Chanel Traumatized & Sleepless, He Reveals

Back in November, Chrisean Rock was invited to join Tamar Braxton onstage at her show in Baltimore, but things quickly took a turn for the worse. The Baddies star reportedly grew frustrated after being ushered off the stage by venue staff, as she was under the impression she’d be allowed to perform. As a result, she allegedly took her anger out on background singer James Wright Chanel by punching him in the face.

Chanel, who describes himself as an “innocent bystander,” has since confirmed that the alleged attack caused serious damage to his teeth. He’s also pressed charges against Chrisean. During a recent appearance on The Jst Us Podcast, Chanel reflected on the debacle, revealing that it continues to have a negative impact on his mental health.

James Wright Chanel Recalls Chrisean Rock Punching Him

“I be getting emotional when I talk about this,” he began. “I’m still trying to figure out why this happened. Why did this happen to me? I wasn’t in an argument with anyone, I wasn’t going back and forth or arguing with anyone, none of that… What I walked in on was that with other people, not me.” Chanel went on, describing how he feels the effects of the punch to this day. “I would wake up out of my sleep crying and not knowing why,” he explained. “So when I contacted the therapist she said it’s trauma, trauma will wake you up out of your sleep… The thing is I could have lost my life. You know, the right hit, you could be out of here… When I go to sleep I still see the moment.”

Keke Palmer & Baby Leodis Keep It Real In New TikTok: “My Life Is Truly Unravelling At The Seams”

As Keke Palmer reflects on all the changes in her life throughout 2023, it’s likely the new mother is feeling emotional at this time. Thankfully, a long career in the spotlight has made her a pro at moving through hard feelings with grace, while still sharing her most vulnerable feelings in the public eye to hopefully help others who might be moving through similar seasons of life. The birth of her baby boy, Leodis, was a huge blessing for Keke, and initially, it seemed to be strengthening her romantic relationship with Darius Jackson. Of course, that’s since taken a turn for the worse, leaving the Hustlers actress with no choice but to file a restraining order against her ex.

The co-parents were going to appear in court earlier this month. However, that’s now taking place in the new year as Jackson’s attorney was unavailable on the 5th. In the meantime, little Leodis will spend his first holiday season with Palmer’s side of the family while she continues to heal from the physical and mental abuse that occurred behind closed doors this year. Thankfully, the black-haired beauty’s candid sense of humour always helps her move through situations with ease. On Saturday (December 9), she channelled her emotions into a TikTok, recruiting her adorable son to star alongside her.

At Least Keke Palmer Will Always Have Her Sense of Humour

“When reality TV makes everyone believe all celebrities are just one big marketing strategy and scheme, but my life is truly unravelling at the seams and I just wear trauma like a Dolce & Gabbana coat because Sharon didn’t raise no b**ch,” Palmer wrote over a clip of her and Leo dramatically posing to Nicki Minaj’s verse on “Seeing Green.” In case she had any doubt, the former child star’s supporters flocked to the comments to remind her how loved she is, surely bringing a smile to her face during these tough times.

Like Keke Palmer said, she manages to wear even the heaviest of trauma like a luxurious Dolce & Gabbana coat, which is precisely why the 30-year-old was among those featured on our annual best dressed list his holiday season. Since becoming a mother, we’ve seen Palmer stepping into her confidence like never before, and we hope that trend continues into 2024. See who else’s outfits caught our eye this year at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Lance “Un” Rivera Says Cam’ron Was Traumatized By Biggie Comparisons

Lance “Un” Rivera says that Cam’ron was traumatized by getting comparisons to the legendary New York rapper, The Notorious B.I.G. Rivera discussed Cam’s career and reuniting with him for the film Percentage, during a new interview with VladTV.

“I enjoy [Cam]’s creativity, we clashed a lot creatively,” he said. “‘Cause I had this thing with Cam — and I heard that he kinda traumatized Juelz with the same process … I always challenged Cam on when he thought he was better, I challenged him [and said,] ‘You hadn’t gotten better. This is sub par to me.’ And I wasn’t taking anything away from him. Cam [would say,] ‘Biggie woulda did it this way.” Rivera also described him as a “gold artist” rather than a “platinum” one.

“He’s a legitimate gold artist like Redman and Method Man and all of these other guys, so Cam didn’t wanna put in the work or listen to what it took,” Rivera continued. “Puff had to tell Big, ”Machine Gun Funk’ is not gonna get you to an album.’ Nas had to do Lauryn Hill ‘If I Ruled The World’ to get to that level. Jay didn’t really start making big records until Pharrell. Everything else was still this underground rapping choruses. Nah, if you wanna sell millions of records, here is what we learned and this is how we do it. That’s why Puff was so successful.”

Cam’ron had begun his career with Rivera and his Untertainment imprint. Under that label, he released his debut album, Confessions of Fire in 1998. However, Untertainment lost a distribution deal with Epic in 2000, causing the company to absorb Cam’ron’s contract. By the end of the legal dispute, Cam ended up signing with Roc-A-Fella Records.

Elsewhere in the interview, Rivera theorized that Dame Dash being from Harlem played a role in Cam’ron’s decision to sign with him.

Julia Fox Addresses Brother’s Arrest, Says She’s “Embarrassed” & He Has “A Lot Of Trauma”

Julia Fox is no stranger to creating controversy in the online world. Surprisingly, the most recent backlash she’s facing has more to do with a relative than her. Earlier this month, the actresses’ brother, Christopher Fox, was arrested along with their father Thomas, during an NYPD raid. At the time, authorities reportedly uncovered ghost guns and evidence of narcotics manufacturing inside their shared apartment. According to Page Six, items found include fentanyl, chloroform, heroin, crack, cocaine, pressure cookers, and other drug paraphernalia.

The mother of one was reportedly out of town when the raid took place at her family member’s house. She was apparently unaware of Christopher’s alleged crimes. Still, she gave support to him by co-signing a $450K bond with Thomas (who was previously let go from jail) to get her brother out of Rikers Island on Monday. As the news made rounds online, some users began criticizing Fox for standing by her sibling. She markedly addressed this in a TikTok on Thursday (March 16).

“I know my brother. I’ve always known him to be like — I’m not kidding, you guys — the sweetest, most gentle, kind, soft-spoken. Loves animals, loves to plant flowers, has a green thumb, loves nature,” the Italian starlet explained to viewers yesterday. However, she did note that Christopher and her “have a lot of trauma.” Julia describes herself as “scrappy” and “a fighter” who was able to throw her aggression and “release that rage.” On the other hand, she says her brother had a tendency to “internalize” his own anger.

While it’s certainly been a scary experience, Fox is grateful she’ll be able to get Christopher “the help [she’s] been trying to get him for so long.” The Uncut Gems star added, “I wish I could say more but I don’t want to damage his case or anything like that but I will say that I’m just embarrassed.” Thankfully, she’s got other, more positive things to help occupy her mind through this troubling time, such as the highly anticipated return of her Forbidden Fruits podcast.

Julia Fox co-hosts the Spotify Original series with her friend Niki Takesh, and they’ve had some interesting guests in the past, to say the least. To kick off their latest season, the girls shared not one, but two episodes – the first a catch-up between the Forbidden Fruits creators, and the second an interview with Fyre Festival scammer Billy MacFarland. Marsha Ambrosius Says She & Dr. Dre Trauma Bonded With New Album, “Casablanco”

Marsha Ambrosius says that she and Dr. Dre trauma bonded with her new album, Casablanco. Ambrosius discussed working with the legendary producer on the project at a listening session in Los Angeles, earlier this week.

“End of 2020, Dre and myself were going back and forth, shooting each other ideas,” the singer began. “And January 2021 happens and I’m pretty sure everyone got the text alert. Sorry to bring up your personal but we all saw it. It was Dr. Dre’s brain aneurysm and I remember my heart stopped and I’m calling everyone.”

She continued: “I’m like, ‘Yo fool, what happened?’ [They’re like] ‘Everything is okay. Relax, calm down. Dre is okay.’ I get a call from Dre and by February 2021, I was out working with him. So his rehab, his rehabilitation and resurgence back into wanting to make music to make people feel good was what I needed. Ultimately, what he needed. And this album was kind of our trauma bond in some way.”

Dr. Dre, who was also at the event, further explained that the album was born out of studio sessions originally meant for his own work. The pair first announced the project on social media back in December 2021.

“And the way it started out was she actually flew down to work on some songs for me,” Dre said. “And all of a sudden I’m like okay let’s work on some songs for you. Let’s work on three or four songs and all of a sudden that turned into an entire album over a two-week period.”

Marsha Ambrosius and Dr. Dre have yet to confirm an official release date for Casablanco. The two previously teamed up together for Dre’s 2015 album, Compton. Ambrosius is credited on the songs “Genocide,” “All in a Day’s Work,” “Darkside/Gone” and “Satisfaction.” They also worked on “Stronger” off of Ambrosius’ 2014 album, Friends & Lovers. Check out Dr. Dre’s initial announcement for Casablanco below.
