Timbaland Calls Rick Ross & Meek Mill’s New Album A “Masterpiece”

Meek Mill and Rick Ross’ collab album Too Good To Be True is due on November 10, and fans are very excited for it. Moreover, the frequent collaborators will bring us their first full-length joint project as solo artists. They recently dropped off the single “Lyrical Eazy” to keep amping their listeners up for it, and one person who’s fully on board is legendary producer Timbaland. He recently popped by the 99JAMZ radio station in Miami and shared his excited thoughts on it while discussing the state of rap today. Not only that, but the beatmaker called the LP a “masterpiece” that is “what we been missing” in the game, which is a pretty promising assessment from a legend within it.

“Ross giving you that Big Meech Ross,” Timbaland expressed. “And that’s all we want. We don’t want Ross to sound like Uzi Vert. That album says a lot to me because Meek is being Meek, whether you like it or not. It’s not dated, it sounds current, it sounds fresh, and it sounds like a classic. And you could tell the space they in. I don’t even need to talk to him and ask what space he in, you can hear it through the music.”

Before “Lyrical Eazy,” Rick Ross and Meek Mill shared the single “SHAQ & KOBE” to lead fans into Too Good To Be True. Amid positive reception to these singles, a trailer for the album shows how excited the artists themselves are to deliver something special. “N***as ain’t seen me or Ross around each other for a long time,” Meek stated. “We got back to the business, straight back to the family, love, and jumped right back in the studio immediately. So, y’all about to get that live and direct and what happens. Tune in.”

However, over the years, fans have been waiting for a collaborative project. Now, that seems to be on the horizon with Too Good To Be True. The album is going to be coming out next month, and supporters of these two could not be any more excited. They dropped “Shaq & Kobe” a few weeks ago, and it proved to be a huge success.

Subsequently, they are looking to tease fans with some more singles. This week, Rick Ross & Meek Mill revealed that they would be dropping “Lyrical Eazy.” Of course, this led to a lot of hype across their respective fanbases. Meek Mill And Rick Ross Locked In A Release Date For Their Joint Album ‘Too Good To Be True’

Meek Mill and Rick Ross’ upcoming joint album Too Good To Be True officially has a release date: November 10. In a new pair of videos depicting the album’s recording process, the longtime collaborators appear to be locked into the studio, where they receive visits from DJ Khaled and Diddy, who hype up the release before title cards reveal the album’s release date.

Meek and Ross first promoted the project’s impending release with their single “Shaq & Kobe,” later announcing its title and tell Apple Music’s Ebro Darden about its creation.

The project will be released by Ross’ Maybach Music Group imprint in a new partnership with Gamma, a music startup founded by veteran music execs Larry Jackson and Ike Youssef with funding from Apple and A24. The album will see Meek and Ross join forces again for the first time since 2019’s Port Of Miami 2, where Meek appeared on “Bogus Charms.”

Since then, some fans thought that a rift had formed between the two rappers when rumors surfaced that Rick Ross had trouble getting into Meek Mill’s birthday party in 2021. Meek later expressed discontent with his record deal, but Ross downplayed his comments, saying he believed they were directed at Atlantic and not MMG.

However, those rumors appeared to be unfounded; late last year, Ross joined Meek onstage to help celebrate the 10th anniversary of his debut album Dreams & Nightmares.

Meek Mill and Rick Ross are ready to take you into the world of Too Good To Be True. The album is set to be released on Nov. 10, as revealed in a trailer featuring Diddy, DJ Khaled, and more.

Meek Mill and Rick Ross recently graced Ebro Darden’s Rap Life Radio with their presence for a special edition, marking the release of their latest single, “Shaq & Kobe.” But the excitement didn’t stop there – the dynamic duo had a major announcement up their sleeves. They revealed plans for an eagerly anticipated collaboration album, Too Good To Be True.

“I changed my lifestyle. Well I thought I changed, try to change over to the liquor every day. I’m being on tour afterparty. That kind of ruined up my stomach. So I had to sit down for a minute, let my shit build up. That was another human trial that we go through on the inside and they’re like, yo, when you dropping I’m telling my own family, yo, my stomach fucked up. Y’all, I weigh 170, bro. It’s on hit right now.”

Meek Mill & Rick Ross Open Up About Battles With Substance Abuse

Meek Mill and Rick Ross both discussed their struggles with substance abuse and how they’ve helped each other over the years during a recent sit-down with Apple Music’s Ebro Darden. The interview comes ahead of the release of their upcoming collaborative album, Too Good to Be True.

While discussing their drug and alcohol consumption, Meek admitted that his “stomach was bent over for like a year and a half.” At the time, he ended up dropping down to just 170 pounds. “People wasn’t seeing it though,” he explained. “People would see it or might make a joke about it, and in real life my shit fucked up.” From there, Ross noted that the two “definitely had conversations” about what he had been going through, to which Meek confirmed: “For sure. On both ends.”

Meek then explained how he wouldn’t try to hide his struggles with substance abuse from his friends. “Like how Rozay said, when you walk in the studio, I’m going to have my lean on the table,” he added. “I’m a man of integrity. If I’m doing something I want to do it in front of my friends so my friends can stop me. So I can have somebody pull me to the side. I ain’t going to be doing a drug or doing nothing that I got to hide from my brothers or nothing like that cuz nobody might not be able to pull you to the side and help you.”

Elsewhere, Ross admitted that has to take medication twice a day to combat the damage lean has done to his body. “So me drinking lean at a time and now I’m taking medication two times a day because of this,” Ross said. “And then you walk into a session, you see your little bro. Hey little bro, man we got to take…we got to tighten up on this shit, you know what I’m saying? So it’s a lot of different ways we could have issues back and forth, but you know, we always got the money. You know what I’m saying? It ain’t never been no shit that we ain’t never choke up.”

Rick Ross And Meek Mill’s Newly-Announced Joint Album Might Be ‘Too Good To Be True,’ But It’s Coming ‘ASAP’

Rick Ross and Meek Mill are teaming up for a joint album, Too Good To Be True, and it’s coming “ASAP” they told Apple Music’s Ebro Darden. According to Pitchfork, Ross said, “This just was a quick vibe. Maybe two and a half months, you know what I’m saying?” They’ve already released the first single, “Shaq & Kobe,” which you can check out above.

Meanwhile, Rick Ross has brought his Maybach Music Group imprint to a new home, according to Billboard. MMG is now partnered with Gamma, which bills itself as an artist-friendly alternative to the major label system. Founded by former Apple Music Global Creative Director Larry Jackson and veteran music executive Ike Youssef, Gamma is backed by Apple and A24, among others, and offers a suite of resources for the creation, distribution, and marketing of music and related media.

Jackson said of the partnership, “Rick Ross epitomizes the multimedia and multi-faceted content pioneer that Gamma was created to amplify. We couldn’t be happier to formalize our relationship, welcome him to the Gamma family, and propel the trajectory of an already well-established empire. We’re beyond excited for the world to experience his surprise, highly anticipated collab reunion album with Meek.”

Calling the collab album “anticipated” might be a stretch; if anything, it comes as a surprise after relations between the mentor and protege seemed strained in recent years. After Meek complained about his record contract on Twitter, some fans thought he might have friction with Rick Ross, to whose Maybach Music Group he’s been signed almost since the beginning of his career. The duo reunited on stage late last year, but hadn’t even hinted at the possibility of a joint project until earlier this week.
