Who Is Yeat? Everything About The Rapper
If you have been on TikTok lately, you have probably heard of a rapper named Yeat. Noah Olivier Smith, or Yeat, is a rapper, singer-songwriter, and record producer.
Born on February 26, 2000, Yeat has gained popularity in such a short time. Born from a Romanian descent mom and a Mexican dad, Yeat has been making music since 2016.
Yeat’s Inspiration
Yeat’s dad was also a musician; when he was, it was said that there were guitars and pianos all around the house. However, he didn’t take a passion for playing instruments but later developed a love for making his own music.
As he grew up, Yeat started to gain some musical influence, which included some huge artists. Those artists were Young Thug and Future, but there was one more that Yeat’s mother actually put him on. His most significant influence was T-Pain.
In an interview with Our Generation Music, Yeat said, “I feel like that’s why I be singing and shit. I don’t be singing, but I feel like that’s where I got that inspiration from.” “He’s really the GOAT of Auto-Tune.”
The Beginning Of His Music
Since the late 2016s and early 2017s, it was revealed that Yeat has been putting out music since those times. However, most of them consisted of singles and a few Eps.
He has attributed that his early drug use was the reason that helped him get into music. It was also the factor that made him think of his stage name. But then, he did LSD, which stimulated his mind to think differently, and he made up his name while he was high.
“I really think it helped open my mind and think about shit differently. It didn’t make me rap, but it kind of gave me the idea, like, I could just do whatever I put my mind to.”
“I’m not going to lie, it was really like some high shit,” he said during an interview with Our Generation Music. “I just wanted to do something like one word, and just make it simple and kind of relatable. People hear my name, they feel like they already heard of me.” For a while, he was known as Lil Yeat, but he eventually dropped the “Lil.”
His Style
As Yeat progressed in his music career, he wanted to find something that was unique to him. That’s why he started to make up his own language in his raps. He briefly explains its origins, saying, “It started when I was out in New York.”
In his songs, you can hear many different words that no one can recognize, but they all have a meaning that Yeat has created. Some of these words are “Twizzy,” “luh geeky,” “SHMUNKIT,” etc. Afterward, he explains how he took this after his dad said, “I think I got it from my dad because he be making up words for shit all the time,” he said. “So I just do that.”
Furthermore, he explained how he doesn’t think his style fits into a class or box. Instead, it is all about adaptability, and that’s why Young Thug and Future inspired him because of them experimenting with different sounds.
“I feel like my style isn’t really set on one thing,” he explains. “I be having mad different vibes, mad different styles. The way I even my voice on different songs, I feel like I got that from listening to a lot of Thug shit.”

As stated earlier, a lot of people discovered Yeat through TikTok. A couple of his songs became huge on the platform and were the sound everyone used in their video. Another significant aspect of his music is the famous bell that can be heard in the instrumental.
His song “Sorry Bout That” and “Talk” were Yeat’s two most used sounds. In addition, “Sorry Bout That” was his breakout song for him. The 2021 single was from his “4L” project and is currently his most viral song to date.
This is what he had to say about that single “spur-of-the-moment.” “I really just be living my raps, and be talking about whatever I’m going through at the moment. All my music is like that. It’s just about whatever is on my mind. I don’t be writing or none of that.”

Julia Fox is no stranger to creating controversy in the online world. Surprisingly, the most recent backlash she’s facing has more to do with a relative than her. Earlier this month, the actresses’ brother, Christopher Fox, was arrested along with their father Thomas, during an NYPD raid. At the time, authorities reportedly uncovered ghost guns and evidence of narcotics manufacturing inside their shared apartment. According to Page Six, items found include fentanyl, chloroform, heroin, crack, cocaine, pressure cookers, and other drug paraphernalia.
The mother of one was reportedly out of town when the raid took place at her family member’s house. She was apparently unaware of Christopher’s alleged crimes. Still, she gave support to him by co-signing a $450K bond with Thomas (who was previously let go from jail) to get her brother out of Rikers Island on Monday. As the news made rounds online, some users began criticizing Fox for standing by her sibling. She markedly addressed this in a TikTok on Thursday (March 16).

Eminem’s “Mockingbird” Hits 1 Billion Spotify Streams Thanks To TikTok
However you feel about Eminem, odds are that you at least appreciate “Mockingbird,” which many people on TikTok clearly do. The Detroit rapper’s 2004 cut from his album Encore just gained over 1 billion streams on Spotify. For context, the track had half as many streams less than a year ago. Of course, this newfound appreciation for the song can be traced back to one social media giant: TikTok. The platform’s already revived past hits on the charts and shown them to a new audience, whether it’s their original version or a remixed rendition.
In this specific example, some videos with the hashtag #mockingbird received over 1.5 billion plays on the platform. Also, other videos with #mockingbirdeminem gained over 375 million plays. Moreover, the song appears in many ways: a sped-up version (used in over 150,000 videos), covers, the base track, one of the verses, the chorus, and the list goes on. Not only that, but this week (March 17), “Mockingbird” is No. 42 on Spotify’s Global Top Songs chart. It’s four spots ahead of Drake and 21 Savage’s “Rich Flex” and 200,000 streams behind Lil Uzi Vert’s “Just Wanna Rock.” While this track was already a hit, peaking at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100, this rediscovery certainly brings a new weight to the song dedicated to Em’s daughter Hailie and niece Alaina.
Eminem’s “Mockingbird” Is A TikTok Favorite
However, Encore as a whole album did not receive the kind of praise that “Mockingbird” got from fans and critics alike. Granted, it still sold very well, going five times platinum in the U.S. alone. Still, “Mockingbird” was a standout track regardless of how its album turned out for many. It’s the seventh song in Eminem’s discography to reach over a billion streams on the platform, along with hits like “Without Me” and “The Real Slim Shady.” Last year, during his XXL 25th Anniversary cover story, Marshall Mathers remarked that Encore‘s reception left him frustrated with himself for some time.
“It became a misstep and I struggled to get over the fact that I didn’t do my best,” the 50-year-old expressed. “My best would’ve been good enough if the leaks hadn’t happened. But I released what I had at that point in time, and I feel that put a kind of a mark on my catalog. Encore did some decent numbers, but I was never that concerned with numbers. I was more so worried about what people think about the album. Critics and fans were important to me, and they were always at me about that project.” Despite that disappointment, “Mockingbird” stands as one of his best songs, and it’s great to see TikTok show some love to an almost nineteen-year-old album. Biden Administration to TikTok: Remove Chinese Ownership or Face U.S. Ban
TikTok is on the clock. The Biden administration has warned the tech giant that it is facing a ban in the United States if its Chinese owners do not sell their stakes in the social media platforms.
The order was given by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), highlighting China and the social media app having nearly 100 million users in the United States.
CNN notes TikTok confirmed receiving the request but denied the possibility of providing details.
“If protecting national security is the objective, divestment doesn’t solve the problem,” TikTok spokesperson Maureen Shanahan said in a statement. “A change in ownership would not impose any new restrictions on data flows or access. The best way to address concerns about national security is with the transparent, US-based protection of US user data and systems, with robust third-party monitoring, vetting, and verification, which we are already implementing.”
China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Wang Wenbin stated America has “failed to produce evidence that TikTok threatens US national security.”
In 2022, Congress and Joe Biden passed legislation blocking TikTok from US Government devices, which the European Union and Canada followed.

Logic the rapper is gaining a lot of attention on social media after offering to pay a fan’s rent. The viral moment happened on TikTok, where a fan messaged the rapper to ask for free tickets to his show. In the message, the fan explains that they are struggling to pay rent and could definitely not afford to buy tickets. But Logic’s response was not what the fan expected. Instead, the musician chooses to extend a helping hand. On March 13th, Logic uploaded a video of him wearing a headband and earbuds.
The rapper is more than happy to send the fan free tickets. However, he also appears to be more concerned for the fan’s well-being. In his video response to the fan, Logic assures him that he and his team will take good care of the individual. Although it may seem silly for the fan to ask for tickets in a dire situation, Logic is kind and gentle with him. “F*** the tickets, can I help you with your rent? My people are going to hit you up, let me help you out a little bit.” The musician even seems excited to help out his fan.

Logic Addresses Backlash To Ice Cube Cover: “Who Gives A F*ck”
Logic has addressed the recent backlash to his viral cover of Ice Cube’s 1992 hit single “It Was A Good Day.” The rapper spoke about the negative reaction in response to a fan on TikTok, who asked him to make an entire album featuring covers of songs from the 1990s. In the TikTok, Logic revealed that he got support from Ice Cube himself afterward.
“You know it’s funny you should say that,” Logic said in the post. “Um, it’s funny you should say that because I thought about doing that. Wouldn’t that be cool? In 2011, R&B crooner Miguel released his hit song “Sure Thing.” 12 years later, it remains a hit-thanks largely to TikTok. Amid finishing up his new album, Miguel just recently found out about the song’s performance on TikTok. It is performing so well that “Sure Thing” has landed in the Top 10 on the UK charts! Also, New Zealand and other European countries have seen the song climb their charts too.
TikTok creators have been using the sped-up version of “Sure Thing” to dance to, calling it the “Sure Thing” challenge. Miguel feels it is “fascinating” how a song so old is still relevant today.
“Getting the information that something of mine from so long ago is picking up, and exponentially picking up, week by week, is just fascinating.”
The Los Angeles singer is no stranger to seeing success on the Billboard charts, as when “Sure Thing” first debuted in 2011, it was highly ranked. It was number one on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, number seven on their Adult R&B Songs chart, and came in at number 14 on Billboard’s Rhythmic chart.
Now, in 2023, the hit song has reached #28 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, surpassing the previous position. In 2011, “Sure Thing” debuted at number 36.
