Diamond-certified global superstar The Weeknd has announced an exclusive one-night-only stadium show in São Paulo, Brazil, on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Estádio MorumBIS. This highly anticipated performance will feature never-before-seen production elements, promising an unforgettable experience for fans.

Produced by Live Nation, this show follows The Weeknd’s record-breaking 2022/2023 After Hours Til Dawn Tour, which achieved phenomenal success across North America, Europe, the UK, and Latin America. With over 60 sold-out stadium dates and over 3 million attendees, the tour included two performances in São Paulo at Allianz Parque last October.

To build excitement, The Weeknd released a trailer on Instagram titled “There Are Three Chapters In This Tale,” directed by Evan Larsen. The enigmatic teaser has fans eagerly awaiting the details of any possible additional events.

Tickets for the São Paulo show will be available starting with an artist presale on Monday, July 22, at 10 a.m. BRT. Additional presales will run throughout the week, with general on sale beginning Thursday, July 25, at 10 a.m. BRT. Fans can purchase tickets at TheWeeknd.com/SaoPaulo.

The Weeknd’s New Teaser Video Has Fans Convinced An Anticipated Album Is On The Way

The Weeknd delivered major news for the people of Brazil yesterday, July 17: He’s playing a big one-off concert in São Paulo on September 7. Today, though, he followed that up with a dispatch that’s more applicable to his fans from all over the world.

The two-minute CGI video posted on social media starts with imagery of The Weeknd during the After Hours era, throwing dice in a casino. Then, we get a glimpse of the older, gray-haired version of The Weeknd from Dawn FM. Finally, we see what appears to be a child version of The Weeknd. A spotlight illuminates the kid and expands to reveal verdant-looking grass around him, and on-screen text reads, “There are three chapters to this tale.”

So, it seems The Weeknd is suggesting a third album in the After Hours/Dawn FM trilogy is on the way, and this isn’t exactly a surprising development: Way back in 2022, The Weeknd teased on Twitter (now X), “i wonder… did you know you’re experiencing a new trilogy?”

A number of fan theories at the time speculated that the third album would be about the afterlife, and that appears to still be in play in light of the new teaser: Perhaps the kid version of The Weeknd is some sort of reincarnation.

Check out some reactions to the new teaser below.

The Weeknd Teases The Conclusion To His “After Hours” Trilogy With New Trailer

It’s fittingly poetic that one of the most monumental music careers of the past 15 years will seemingly begin with a trilogy and also end with a trilogy. Of course, we’re talking about The Weeknd’s highly anticipated follow-up to Dawn FM and After Hours, which will conclude not just this era of his journey, but also possibly his stage name. Moreover, the hype for this project just caught a fresh new wind thanks to his most recent social media post, which is a cinematic trailer showcasing the aesthetics and a sonic mashup of the aforementioned 2020s albums. The final part of the clip shows what seems to be a young version of Abel Tesfaye amid grass, with the message: “There are three chapters to this tale.”

Furthermore, fans think that The Weeknd will kick off his next album’s rollout into full gear now, especially thanks to a one-off show in São Paulo, Brazil on September 7. This also follows previous teases, such as a possible Apple collab, that have given vague but exciting hints about what’s to come. From what this new trailer indicates, perhaps this new version of the Canadian superstar will be his rebirth or reincarnation following the death (or purgatory) narrated on After Hours and Dawn FM. That’s just speculative, though, so we’ll have to see what the LP actually indicates.

The Weeknd Is Ready To Close His 2020s Trilogy

Elsewhere, though, The Weeknd has had a pretty notable 2024 without having to do much, as he’s a player in the Kendrick Lamar and Drake beef. His features on Future and Metro Boomin’s We (Still) Don’t Trust You album series this year seemingly contained a couple of 6ix God shots, and his appearance at Kendrick’s “Pop Out” also furthered this narrative. Still, Abel didn’t really become part of the whole narrative. It’s just wild that he was still a huge name this year despite not doing much to warrant this, but then again, that’s his massive artistry at work.

Meanwhile, speaking of Metro Boomin, we know that he will at least provide some production to The Weeknd’s next project. Given the conceptual and musical directions of After Hours and Dawn FM, this will likely be another highly ambitious affair. We don’t know whether it will be a sonic evolution or more of the same in this trilogy, but either way, we should be in for a treat. Let’s hope that he follows up this trailer with some more concrete news.

The Weeknd Makes History with Seven Diamond-Certified Singles

The Weeknd Releases "Sacrifices" Video from New Album 'Dawn FM'

The Weeknd has achieved a historic milestone, becoming the first Canadian artist to earn seven diamond-certified singles. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) recently certified “Save Your Tears” and “Die For You,” pushing the four-time Grammy winner into this elite category.

With this achievement, The Weeknd joins Post Malone, who holds nine diamond singles, and Rihanna, who also has seven. Diamond certification denotes that an artist has sold at least 10 million equivalent units of a single, a testament to The Weeknd’s widespread appeal and enduring popularity.

Known for his distinctive voice and innovative sound, The Weeknd has consistently pushed the boundaries of contemporary music. His hits, such as “Blinding Lights,” “Starboy,” and “Can’t Feel My Face,” have dominated charts and become anthems for a generation.

The Weeknd Pops Out At Kendrick Lamar’s Juneteenth Show In Los Angeles

Kendrick Lamar sure popped out last night on Juneteenth at Inglewood, California, and both the crowd and the stage held some very special guests for the occasion. Moreover, a new video emerged on social media of The Weeknd partying with Big Hit during the show, particularly at the moment in which ScHoolboy Q came out to perform “Collard Greens” and complete the long-awaited reunion of Black Hippy alongside K.Dot, Ab-Soul, and Jay Rock. It seems like the two were having a great time, and we can only wonder what other celebrities and musicians were also in attendance for the concert.

Furthermore, The Weeknd’s appearance is particularly interesting, since he most likely has more than one reason to show his support. Not only is Kendrick Lamar a former collaborator (see Starboy‘s “Sidewalks”), but Abel Tesfaye also dissed Drake during the WE (STILL) DON’T TRUST YOU collaborative album series from Future and Metro Boomin. OVO and XO’s beef took center stage after years of speculation and rumored tension, and The Boy clapped back with some bars for his Canadian rivals on his “Push Ups” and “Family Matters” disses. For what it’s worth, the “Gasoline” superstar didn’t really respond much to any of this drama besides his subliminal shots on “All To Myself.”

The Weeknd At Kendrick Lamar’s “Pop Out”

Elsewhere in the crowd, other notable names that popped out at Kendrick Lamar’s show included NBA superstars like James Harden and LeBron James. In fact, DeMar DeRozan (who caught a lyrical nod from Kendrick on “Not Like Us” for leaving the Toronto Raptors) and Russell Westbrook went onstage to dance to this diss track and rep their Los Angeles roots. Some of these guests and invitees were expected; others were complete surprises. All in all, it made for a pretty grand moment to witness.

Meanwhile, a lot of folks are now wondering what Drake must think of all these folks who went to Kendrick Lamar’s show. Maybe he’s not that surprised at The Weeknd’s appearance, or doesn’t really care altogether that much. Either way, there are probably still some more names that we’ll see attached to this event that will emerge in the coming days. Fans of these artists can only hope that The Idol creative’s attendance means that there’s another Ken collab in the cards.

The Weeknd Interviews Himself… His 10-Year-Old Self… An AI Version Of His 10-Year Old Self

Traditionally, music interviews are between a journalist and an artist. The medium can sometimes break free of that format, though. Sometimes, artists interview each other. Then there’s the latest one from The Weeknd. In it, he interviews himself, except it’s himself at 10 years old, except it’s himself at 10 years old as portrayed via AI.

This was arranged by SSENSE, who used ChatGPT to create a “realistic” chatbot version of young Abel Tesfaye, with which present-day Tesfaye had an era-spanning conversation.

The chat starts with talk about TV shows. The Weeknd notes he’s been watching King Of The Hill and AI Tesfaye responds, “King of the Hill sounds like a big adventure! I imagine sitting on a hill being the king of everything I see!” It then asks real The Weeknd if they can make a cartoon of their own together someday.

From there, the two talk about God, imagination, their mother, and more. Depending on your views on AI, the whole thing is either sweet or perhaps a little bit unsettling and strange. At the very least, it’s an interesting exercise in creative use of technology, more of a creative writing endeavor than a journalistic interview.

Check it out here.

The Weeknd Shares Ominous Message Possibly Alluding To His Final Album

The Weeknd’s final album under that moniker, and the final installment in his After Hours and Dawn FM trilogy, is one of the most anticipated releases of… 2023? 2024? 2025? We’ve known about it for a pretty long time, and in between heavy touring and his HBO show The Idol, he’s had a lot of boxes to check off before entering a new era. However, Abel Tesfaye may be close to this conclusion, as he recently shared a pretty cryptic message on his Instagram Story. It’s a repost of what seems like a tweet about a performance of “Save Your Tears” as cars zoom past him, and is followed up with an ominous premonition: “the end is near.”

“There was a lot of trust with those cars,” the post about The Weeknd’s “Save Your Tears” performance read. “He didn’t seem nervous at all, which really weirded us out, because these cars were just barreling by him and he was calm, kept his composure, walked slow and just didn’t look back. It was kind of amazing.” Whether or not he’ll have similar stunts or another approach entirely for his next LP, we’re sure it’ll be something special.

The Weeknd’s Mysterious Tease

Of course, The Weeknd’s magnitude and artistry in the industry means that he connected with some of the best in the game for collaborations. Metro Boomin is one particularly close partner who recently confirmed that more work from them will appear on this upcoming album. Also, it’s entirely possible that the Toronto superstar referred to something else with this social media post that doesn’t have anything to do with the next project. But that seems unlikely, and there are few other places where XO fans’ minds will go when they hear that phrase.

Meanwhile, we haven’t heard much about Cash XO’s bodyguard’s shooting since it happened back in April. Hopefully things slowed down significantly and are in a much more safe, protected, and calm space now. Whether this hampered The Weeknd’s process is a question we may never get the answer too, but whatever he’s bringing us next, it’s arriving soon. Given his stellar career and influence up until this point, most of us expect fireworks at the end of it all… at least, for this stage name.

Metro Boomin Reveals That He Is “Cooking Up” With The Weeknd On Singer’s Next Album

It is almost impossible to find a steadier duo than Metro Boomin and The Weeknd. Of course, when you think of the St. Louis producer’s top collaborators, your brain automatically goes to names like Future and 21 Savage. But we would like to argue to that even though they have more experience together, Metro and Abel have never missed. Ever since 2015’s “Low Life” off of Future’s EVOL tape, they have gone on to forge some amazing chemistry. Metro Boomin and The Weeknd really hit their stride when they worked on the R&B icon’s 2020 album, After Hours.

Together they created dark, melodic, dreamy, and intoxicating cuts like “Heartless,” “Until I Bleed Out,” “Faith,” and more. Additionally, Metro also did some work on Starboy, as well as several cuts from The Weeknd’s HBO show The Idol. During that time, they collaborated on “Double Fantasy,” “Popular,” “Take Me Back,” among others. After Abel went full synth pop on his last full-length Dawn FM, the hitmaking duo separated for about year. However, they came back to flip Mario’s classic “I Don’t Wanna Know” with “Creepin’” on HEROES & VILLAINS.

Metro Says He’s Got More Heat In The Vault With The Weeknd

Finally, they kept the hot streak going on Metro and Future’s sister records WE DON’T TRUST YOU and WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU. While the acclaimed beat maker has come through on his end by dropping records, The Weeknd has taken some time off. But his next endeavor could be coming soon, as evidenced from the interview clip above with Metro. In a chat in front of what appears to be the Kundalini Pyramids, he revealed that he was “cooking up” some beats for Abel. He mentioned to Rap Caviar how far they have come and how they are “family,” so we can only expect that some serious home cooking is in store down the line.

What are your thoughts on Metro Boomin saying he is working on the upcoming record from The Weeknd? What is there best song together and why? How should The Weeknd should approach his next LP sonically? Is this Metro’s most consistent collaborator, why or why not? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Metro Boomin and The Weeknd. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on in the music world.

Who Did Drake Diss On ‘Family Matters?’

Spring is in full bloom across the US, but not the weather isn’t the only thing heating up. But nothing quite as hot as Drake’s feud with nearly the entirety of rap.

Over the last few weeks, the “First Person Shooter” rapper’s has had to endure shot after shot from his former collaborators. On Drake’s latest response record, “Family Matters,” he ended the figurative clip on them all. But given the list of folks gunning for Drake it has become a tedious task keeping up with them all. So, below we’ve compiled a quick reference breakdown.

Who Did Drake Diss On “Family Matters?”

The easiest answer is everyone. But you came for a list. So on “Family Matters” Drake took aim at Kendrick Lamar, Asap Rocky, The Weeknd, Rick Ross, and of course Metro Boomin.

The Weeknd Pledges $2 Million to Provide 18 Million Loaves of Bread for Gaza Humanitarian Support

Weeknd Dawn FM

Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye, through his XO Humanitarian Fund, just pledged to donate $2 million to humanitarian support in Gaza. His donation aims to supply 18 million loaves of bread to support families under threat of starvation in the war-ravaged enclave.

Teaming up with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), The Weeknd’s pledge will facilitate the distribution of 1,500 metric tons of fortified wheat flour, benefiting over 157,000 Palestinians. This donation follows his philanthropic gesture in December 2023, where he contributed $2.5 million, providing food parcels to feed 173,000 Palestinians for two weeks. Additionally, The Weeknd encouraged his fans to contribute to the cause and support those in need in Gaza.

This philanthropic move adds to The Weeknd’s growing list of charitable endeavors. Earlier this year, he donated to the Los Angeles-based organization School on Wheels, aiding over 1,000 students experiencing homelessness. Over recent years, he has contributed millions of dollars to various charitable causes, including support for Ethiopia, Lebanon, and Covid relief efforts.

Corinne Fleischer, WFP’s Director for the Middle East, North Africa, and Eastern Europe Region, expressed sincere gratitude for The Weeknd’s compassionate support, highlighting its crucial role in relieving thousands of Palestinian families facing daily hunger. Barron Segar, president and CEO of World Food Program USA, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the solvability of hunger with adequate funding and access, made possible by The Weeknd’s commitment.
