Madonna & Jimmy Fallon: A Brief, Wild Run-down Of Her Recent Appearance On ‘The Tonight Show’

By now, you’ve probably heard about Madonna‘s bizarre recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. It was strange for many reasons. “This interview is going to be all about flirtation and seduction,” she awkwardly said early on, with a noticeable lisp because of her grills, which were the topic of most of the conversations. At one point, she said out of nowhere, “People have a problem with my grills. I don’t know why.” She seemed much more interested in talking about them rather than her new album.

At another point, Madonna was discussing her Madame X tour documentary. “I’m really inspired by James Baldwin. The writer. Have you heard of him?” When he said, “Of course,” she replied, “Don’t lie.” That led up to her talking about how she wants to use her art to disturb the peace, and Fallon commented, “Oh yeah, you get in good trouble.” This phrasing somehow inspired her to then slide onto his desk, pushing his mugs aside, sprawling her body out while Fallon yelled at her to stop while trying to cover her butt with his suit jacket because her skirt was very short. It didn’t work. As soon as she got up to sit back down, she flashed the camera.

But of course that was not the weirdest part. At the end, Fallon got up and laid his body down on the floor. Madonna found this as a perfect opportunity to then straddle him. Check it out below at your own risk.

Megan Thee Stallion Was A Delight Co-Hosting ‘The Tonight Show’ Alongside Jimmy Fallon

It is currently Megan Thee Stallion season: She’s just hours removed from releasing her new album Traumazine and shortly before that, she took over The Tonight Show by co-hosting alongside Jimmy Fallon.

She first popped up mid-way through the monologue and had a bunch of fun from the get-go, breaking even more than the famously break-heavy Fallon during some monologue jokes. Later on, she joined Fallon in writing some thank you notes, closing with, “Thank you Earth, for taking ‘hot girl summer’ way too literally.”

They also did some-hip-hop mad libs, starting by coming up with some words based on random prompts, then inserting them into hip-hop songs. Naturally, they had Meg do “Savage,” which ended up being about beans and farting.

Elsewhere in the show, she got interviewed by Fallon and spoke some about Traumazine, saying she’s looking to take control of her own narrative with the personal album. Her dog 4oe also had a few show-stealing moments. Megan and Fallon also teamed up to interview Stranger Things star Natalia Dyer, during which Meg declared her character Nancy is a “hot girl” and had fun interrogating her about Nancy’s romantic history.

Chance The Rapper Performs With Joey Badass, Plays A Game, And Chats With Jimmy Fallon On ‘The Tonight Show’

Last night, Jimmy Fallon hosted The Tonight Show, as he does every night. Chance The Rapper borderline outpaced him in terms of screen time on yesterday’s episode, though, as he was all over the program.

First, he sat down for a chat with Fallon. During the interview, he reminisced about the 10-year anniversary of his 10 Day mixtape, noting how he was opening for Childish Gambino before its released and noticed an increase of fans showing up to see him perform once the tape dropped. He also discussed his and Vic Mensa’s upcoming music festival in Ghana and collaborating with artists from around the world.

Then, the two played a round of “Hey Robot,” where they have to get Amazon Echo to say a certain word without using the actual word themselves. Chance absolutely nailed it, not failing even a single word.

Later in the program, he and Joey Badass performed their recent collaboration “The Highs And The Lows.” Chance had a simple but effective stage design and did something pretty neat on a broadcast level, too, having the lyrics display word-by-word via an on-screen overlay that updated throughout the performance.

Giveon’s Soulful Voice Soars Performing ‘Lie Again’ On ‘The Tonight Show’

Long Beach singer Giveon may have taken some flack online over an inopportune microphone issue during his BET Awards performance on Sunday, but that didn’t stop him from giving his all when he returned to America’s televisions last night on The Tonight Show to perform his song “Lie Again” while promoting his new album, Give Or Take. Taking the stage in a bedazzled sweater and slacks, the deep-voiced crooner showed off his range, sprinkling his soaring performance with subtle hints of falsetto, making it very hard to find something to complain about this time around.]

Aside from his BET Awards hiccup, Giveon has enjoyed the increased attention on his music ever since featuring on Justin Bieber’s “Peaches” with Daniel Caesar, delivering a string of television performances for Ellen,
The Tonight Show, and the 2021 American Music Awards. He even received a coveted co-sign from Drake himself during a show in Toronto. With his debut album out now via Epic Records, fans can look forward to his tour supporting it beginning in August. You can see the full dates below.

Doechii Dazzles In A Disorienting Performance Of ‘Persuasive’ And ‘Crazy’ On ‘Fallon’

Top Dawg Entertainment’s newest rapper, Doechii, is already making a big impression. After featuring on “Wat U Sed” from labelmate Isaiah Rashad’s album last year, Doechii officially announced her signing to TDE this March, following up with videos for her first two singles, “Persuasive” and “Crazy,” before announcing TDE’s joint deal with Capitol Records to distribute her upcoming album. Last night, she took her next big step into the limelight, performing both singles as a dazzling medley on The Tonight Show.

Doechii’s penchant for going big circled every aspect of her performance, from the elaborate styling (a gigantic gown and attention-grabbing space buns in her hair) to the band’s full-tilt renditions of her uptempo, house-influenced singles. Doechii performed with her whole body, letting her gyrations emphasize the rebellious crazy, even with the restrictions caused by her dress. The crowd obviously loved it, too, cheering her on as she flailed and twerked her way through the disorienting back half of her set.

Doechii hasn’t announced her album yet, but it’s clear from her eye-popping rollout so far that she puts a lot of work into the presentation — so when she does drop her album, you can bet it’ll be worth checking out for both the music and the visuals attached.

Lucky Daye Brings The Lovelorn ‘Over’ To ‘The Tonight Show’ For A Stirring Performance

Lucky Daye is just a few days removed from completing his tour in support of his sophomore album Candypaint. The New Orleans singer set out on the road for a string of shows that kicked off in mid-March. West Coast singer Joyce Wrice also accompanied him on the tour. Daye’s final stop on the Candypaint Tour was in New York City and it appears that he used that opportunity to also give a performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. There, Daye delivered a stirring performance of highlight record “Over,” one that accounts for his struggles with moving on from an inconsistent partner.

This year has been a pretty big one for Daye so far. He earned his first entry on the Billboard 200 with Candypaint which peaked at No. 69. Daye also earned his first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Over,” a record that peaked at No. 77 earlier this month. However, Daye’s most exciting moment in 2022 came when he earned his first Grammy award for a win in the Best Progressive R&B album category thanks to his Table For Two EP.

You can watch Daye’s performance of “Over” in the video above.

Candypaint is out now via RCA and Keep Cool. You can stream it here.

Leikeli47 Gives A Fiery Performance Of Her ‘Shape Up’ Single ‘Chitty Bang’ On ‘Fallon’

Leikeli47’s upcoming album Shape Up is one of Uproxx’s most anticipated hip-hop albums of spring 2022, and the masked MC dropped by The Tonight Show studio to show why. Wearing a pink Celine sweatshirt with her customary Nike Air Maxes and bandana balaclava, she performed a fiery rendition of the album’s lead single “Chitty Bang” in a stripped-down set backed by her DJ/hype man, who you may know as former annual “Rap Up” rapper Skillz(!).

The Virginia rapper — Leikeli, not Skillz — took a long and well-deserved break after her last album, 2018’s Acrylic. She reappeared in the summer of 2020 with “Zoom,” ostensibly the first single from her comeback album. However, it seemed she wanted to perfect the album in question, heading back to the studio for another year and a half before returning with “Chitty Bang” in January this year. Shortly afterward, she announced the release date for Shape Up (May 13) with the single “BITM.” The most recently released single, “LL Cool J,” continued Leikeli’s tradition of mystery. Now, with the album right around the corner, it’s time to see whether Shape Up is worth the wait — and judging from the output so far, it should be.
