Charlamagne Tha God Asks Cordae If His Latest Album Was A “Flop”

Charlamagne Tha God asked Cordae if he feels his latest album, The Crossroads, was a “flop,” during the latest episode of The Breakfast Club. Cordae dropped the project on November 15 and it peaked at No. 143 on the US Billboard 200. In addressing the album, Charlamagne noted that he saw a YouTube video in which someone posited that Cordae is at a crossroads himself after his album flopped “horrendously.”

“No,” he said when asked if he felt similarly. “… It’s like some white boy in Indiana– not that it’s a race thing, but it’s like the truth of the people that run those. If you look at channels like that, their whole channel subscribes to a bunch of negativity. That’s what they’re about so you can nitpick every artist in music. You can find something negative and nitpick at where they lack in some department. But, no, because I had other albums that didn’t have a strong first week, but again, my tour ended up doing super well and then later on it grows and becomes a larger thing. Why spend all this time focusing on one week? We gonna spend all this time focusing on one week when there is 52 weeks out of the year. You wanna just give up on an album because it didn’t have a super strong first-week?”

Cordae Performs During Laneway Festival

From there, he argued that he’s being compared to artists who are at another level than him. “I think I get compared to mega-stars,” he explained. “If you compare a Cordae first-week sales to Kendrick Lamar’s first-week sales, of course, there’s a discrepancy. But when it comes to my actual peers that do the type of music that I do, It’s all a balance. It’s there. We’re all doing to same comparative numbers. Even though comparison is the thief of joy. I have no worry about what some white man says about my career.”

Cordae Addresses His Low Album Sales

It’s not the first time Cordae has spoken about the lack of popularity of his latest effort. He also stated he didn’t care about sales numbers in a rant on social media at the time of its release. Check out Cordae’s full thoughts on the success of The Crossroads below.

Doechii Has Interesting Response To Question About Joining Kendrick Lamar & SZA On Tour

It’s no secret that Kendrick Lamar has had a massive year. The Compton rapper went head-to-head with Drake, hosted his LA “Pop Out” show alongside several of his peers, and more. Late last month, he even dropped his new album GNX with zero notice, which has since been a huge success. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart with several songs from the album also climbing the ranks.

He went on to announce his upcoming “Grand National” co-headlining tour with SZA earlier this week. The duo is set to kick things off in April 2025 with a performance in Minneapolis before performing at 18 other stadiums across North America. They even recently announced a second date at Toronto’s Rogers Centre, unsurprisingly resulting in some serious clowning for Drake. It looks like they may not be the only artists that lucky fans get to see on the tour, however, based on a new clip of Doechii.

Doechii Can’t Help But Smile When Asked About Kendrick Lamar & SZA Tour

During her recent appearance on The Breakfast Club, DJ Envy asked her about potentially joining Kendrick and SZA on the tour. She didn’t exactly give a straight answer, but her immediate grin suggested it may not be completely off the table. “I have not met Kendrick, I don’t know what Kendrick has up his sleeve,” she explained. “I don’t know what’s to come, but I know that I am prepared to receive any opportunity that comes my way… But truly, I have no idea.”

It appears as though it might be a minute before fans get any concrete answers. Regardless, this clip has gotten their hopes up. Doechii and Kendrick may not have met yet, according to her, but in October of this year, he broke his usual social media silence to praise her. He shared the cover of her Alligator Bites Never Heal mixtape, dubbing her “the hardest out.”

Drake Hit With Charlamagne Tha God’s “Donkey Of The Day” Label Over His UMG Lawsuit

Charlamagne Tha God went off on a heated rant about Drake and labeled the Toronto rapper the “donkey of the day” during the latest episode of The Breakfast Club. He discussed Drake’s decision to take legal action against Universal Music Group, arguing that his complaints in the filing are hypocritical. Drake has accused the label of allegedly artificially boosting the streams of Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.”

“Whatever the label UMG was doing to promote ‘Not Like Us,’ they were doing the same thing for you your whole career. If one of those diss records you put out would’ve taken off and been a cultural phenomenon like ‘Not Like Us,’ the record label would’ve pushed that too,” Charlamagne argued.

Charlamagne then turned his attention to Drake’s defenders. “Anybody acting like this is anything more than Drake’s feelings being hurt, you a hoe too,” he remarked. “An O-V-Hoe to be exact. ‘He’s fighting the same war that Michael Jackson fought. Drake is taking a stand for the art and the artist.’ People who are running with that narrative would hold Drake’s penis while he pees and shake it for him when he’s finished.” Before wrapping up, Charlamagne joked that Lamar told Drake to “squabble up” not “lawyer up.”

Charlamagne Tha God Goes Off On Drake

Charlamagne also recommended Drake take a page out of J Cole’s playbook and focus on nostalgia and take fans back to the good old days. Cole is currently adding his mixtapes to streaming services and releasing an audio series documenting the making of them. Shyne Alleges He Spat In Diddy’s Face And Almost Sued Him Over Club Shooting

While Diddy waits for more updates in his federal case for alleged sex trafficking, Shyne continues to launch a lot of allegations against him. His more recent appearance was on The Breakfast Club, where he told folks that he once almost spat in Sean Combs’ face when he went to visit him in prison and almost sued him, as well. Moreover, for those unaware, the Belizean artist and politician claims that his Bad Boy boss turned him into the “fall guy” for a 1999 club shooting that resulted in the former serving almost nine years in jail. In addition, he’s promoting his new Honorable Hulu documentary, talking about the Puff Daddy situation and explaining how he feels betrayed.

But some don’t believe Shyne’s allegations about Diddy, including Funk Flex. “Now, Shyne, I see you being careful with your words, too,” the DJ remarked on-air during his Saturday night (November 16) program on Hot 97. “You’re tippy-toeing ’cause you don’t want me full blast on your face. […] Listen. You should get a bag of money for a bag of lies. I’m okay with that, bro. I’ma tell you, Shyne – punk. That’s what you are. You’re a punk.”

Meanwhile, here’s what Diddy had to say about these allegations from Shyne via a statement from his representative. “Mr. Combs categorically denies Mr. Barrow’s [Shyne’s] allegations, including any suggestion that he orchestrated Mr. Barrow to ‘take the fall‘ or ‘sacrificed’ him by directing witnesses to testify against him,” the statement read. “These claims are unequivocally false. Mr. Combs was acquitted of all charges related to the 1999 Club New York incident and has consistently maintained his innocence. He cannot accept or condone any characterization of his actions as ‘demonic’ or ‘malicious.’

“Mr. Combs appreciates the path Mr. Barrow has pursued and wishes him continued success,” Diddy’s statement about the Shyne allegations continued. “It is unfortunate that Mr. Barrow has chosen to revisit these allegations. Mr. Combs trusts that responsible journalism will weigh both the established legal outcomes and Mr. Combs’ positive, longstanding support for those he has worked with.” It looks like neither side will budge on their assessment of the tale, so we can expect this feud to continue.

Ferg Passionately Dismisses Diddy’s Shocking Allegations

Over the weekend, FERG put out his first studio album in four years with DAROLD. It’s one of his most personal records to date as he recently detailed the idea behind it. “Creating my first album “Trap lord” was an outlet for me being a young black man in the hood facing daily adversities. At one point I even felt like a “lord that was trapped,” he wrote on Instagram. “Reflection led me to becoming more “Hood pope” the enlightened one but I found balance in just being “Darold.” So far, the project has had some good reception online from fans and critics alike. It’s leading to some interviews already too, with FERG popping into The Breakfast Club recently to talk about it.

However, the New York native isn’t necessarily making headlines for his insight on the project. Instead, his comments about Diddy are becoming the story from this sit-down. According to AllHipHop, the music mogul came up in the conversation and it’s ruffling some fans’ feathers. It’s worth noting that Ferg and Diddy have a close relationship dating back to the former’s childhood. They crossed paths thanks to FERG’s late father designing the Bad Boy Records logo.

Ferg Talks Diddy & His New Album Darold With The Breakfast Club

With that in mind, maybe take his subsequent comments with a grain of salt. He was quick to passionately downplay the numerous allegations against the disgraced music figure, saying, “Diddy is my family and I love his family. I don’t know all of what’s going on with this case and everything like that and it’s a bunch of hearsay,” he stated.

“Really it’s like, 1000 bottles of baby oil? What’s that have to do anything with him being a bad man? He’s just a rich man with bunch of baby oil.” As we said, this took some aback, with one YouTube commenter saying, “I don’t think the celebrities realize when they say things like ‘he’s being arrested for being freaky/having baby oils’ it instantly makes people question your character. Yes he’s innocent until proven guilty but there’s a million better ways to say that rather than minimizing the heinous accusations…” At the time of writing, Diddy recently received a court hearing date for his latest bail package. It will happen on November 22 at 2 p.m. in Manhattan.

50 Cent Has Hilarious Response When Asked About Ghostwriting For Diddy With JAY-Z

50 Cent recently recalled ghostwriting for Diddy during an appearance on The Breakfast Club, earlier this week. At one point in the show, Charlamagne played a portion of Diddy’s verse on the track, “Let’s Get It,” on which he raps, “Send the cops, the D.A., and the feds to come get me.” 50 Cent joked in response: “I ain’t tell him to say that.”

As Charlamagne played another song, 50, laughingly remarked, “Jay helped me with that. Jay did that part right there.” Of JAY-Z, he added Diddy would tell him different ideas to add in: “His mind is formatted like that. You know how artists are freestyling, freestyling, and freestyling? JAY remembers the idea so he can just say it without writing it down. He just has it in his head.”

He previously announced that the project would be available on Netflix. Diddy is currently behind bars in Brooklyn while awaiting trial for his charges of alleged sex trafficking and racketeering. He’s already pleaded not guilty and denied the allegations.

Young Dro Gets Heated When His Friend Laughs At His Addiction Struggles On “The Breakfast Club”

Young Dro and T.I., plus a couple of their friends, recently stopped by The Breakfast Club for a compelling and almost confrontational interview. Why did things almost become heated? Well, it started when one of Dro and Tip’s friends started to laugh when the former discussed his struggles with addiction. The duo and the radio show crew laughed this off at first, but by the third time it happened, Dro turned around and threatened to slap his friend if he kept going. This led T.I. to intervene and cool things down before celebrating that Dro is almost four years sober.

You can see the whole thing go down in the Instagram post below, and you might be as surprised as we were when things started to get intense. Despite Young Dro’s past struggles with addiction, it’s clear that he’s in a much better place now and is grateful for the journey that led him to this healed state. Elsewhere, he’s dropping freestyles like his treatment of GloRilla’s “Yeah Glo!” and enjoying himself as both a figure in hip-hop culture and as a regular human being like the rest of us. In the comments of the post down below, you can see folks react to this tense moment.

Young Dro’s Tense Moment On The Breakfast Club

As for Young Dro’s co-interviewee, T.I. recently retired from performing in order to focus on his film and comedy careers. “I appreciate y’all for offering me my last working gig because I do not need the money anymore and I will not be performing,” he remarked on 96.1 The Beat. “I don’t want to do it anymore…I don’t want people to pay me to hop around and sweat for their entertainment anymore.”

Meanwhile, Young Dro and T.I. go way back, so it’s no surprise that the latter defended the former when their friend laughed about his addiction struggles. Whether it’s their 2000s work or recent link-ups like on Dro’s I Am Legend 2 project, they always have each other’s backs. Overall, this situation opened up conversations around how friends should support each other through tough times and whether or not making light of them is appropriate under certain contexts.

Charlamagne Tha God Believes Drake Is “Hurting” After Hearing His Speech On Betrayal

Charlamagne Tha God says he believes that Drake is seriously “hurting” after hearing his speech on betrayal and fake friends from a nightclub in Toronto on Saturday night. He discussed how the For All the Dogs rapper is holding up in the wake of his feud with Kendrick Lamar during the latest episode of The Breakfast Club.

“I thought that Kendrick’s execution of this battle was flawless, the strategy, the songs, everything, but I didn’t think that it had that much of an impact on Drake. Drake hurts. Oh my God. He is hurt,” Charlamagne said. While discussing Drake’s alleged decision to unfollow LeBron James, Demar Derozan, and more who were in attendance at Kendrick Lamar’s The Pop Up concert, he added: “You can’t go on an unfollow spree then go on a stage and cry about not having no real friends or whatever that was about.”

Drake had been attending Tyrone Edwards’ Nostalgia Party when he went off on friends who have stabbed him in the back. “My real friends are definitely in the building,” he said. “But let me tell you that you’re going to come to a point in life where people you thought were friends, people you thought were close to you switch up.”They might try to move funny with you. They might stab you in the back. They might do a lot of things to you. You’ll come to that realization, wherever you’re at in life. You’ve probably been there and you’ll be there again. That’s how life is. Sometimes it’s you and you alone by yourself.”

DaBaby Recounts When He Shot An Alleged Trespasser In The Leg

DaBaby recently joined The Breakfast Club for a wide-ranging conversation, where he once again showed off his storytelling skills. Even thought the tale this time around isn’t a particularly fun one to hear, he engagingly recounted a 2022 incident in which he shot an alleged trespasser in the leg at his North Carolina home. The NC MC did not face any charges for this situation due to authorities determining that this was a case of justifiable self-defense. Even though we are plenty of months removed from the situation at this point, it seems like he still remembers a lot of details from that day, and understandably so.

“I chose not to take a n****a life the other day & it felt great. Buddy ain’t deserve to go, I step righteously. Heal up & live my boy! Just don’t bring ya a** back,” DaBaby had expressed about the incident back in April of 2022. As you can see and hear in the clip below, there were a lot of moving parts in this situation, and a lot of different ways in which it could’ve gone differently.

DaBaby Recalls 2022 Alleged Trespassing Incident

Elsewhere, DaBaby is also cleaning up some other violent situations that he’s been in over the past couple of years, although this one isn’t nearly as scary as a shooting. He finally reached a settlement in a battery lawsuit against him from a man who claimed the rapper physically assaulted him while shooting a music video at his home. This debacle began all the way back in 2020, so to hear it’s finally over is actually a bizarre occurrence for die-hard fans. After all, plenty of folks thought that the case stretched out way too far, although that might be why a settlement was the move.

Meanwhile, DaBaby recently released his new mixtape, aptly titled HOW TF IS THIS A MIXTAPE? It’s his first project in two years, and it’s not hard to hear why this classification is appropriate. It’s just an expected albeit solid collection of bangers and jams to feed fans after a while. Hopefully Baby sees more mixtapes in the future and not trespassers.

Toosii Discusses Shaq Infamously Entering His Girlfriend’s DMs

Earlier this year, North Carolina rapper Toosii had a brief one-sided beef with NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal. Shaq, who’s been living the bachelor life since getting divorced in 2011, is infamous for his willingness to approach women. He sent Toosii’s girlfriend Samaria Davis a message that read “can I have that baby.” As there was no punctuation in Shaq’s message, Toosii interpreted it as Shaq asking for his son. Toosii blasted Shaq for the message, calling him a “weird ass oldhead.” He later walked it back when he realized what Shaq actually meant, but still criticized him for sliding into his girlfriend’s DMs.

In a new interview with The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne asked Toosii about the spat, and he explained his thought process. “When I read that, I thought he was talking about my son. If I had known he was talking about my BM, on God, I never would’ve said that,” Toosii said. When DJ Envy asked if they spoke after, Toosii confirmed they had not had a conversation. He pointed to Shaq’s net worth and social status as reasons why the two have never been able to speak.

Toosii also explained that his girlfriend Samaria Davis, who is a model with over a million Instagram followers and recently launched a YouTube channel, always shows him who tries to slide into her DMs. He never felt threatened by Shaq or concerned that she would accept his offer, but he was more offended that Shaq even asked the question at all, if his words on the Breakfast Club interview are to be believed.

Toosii released his latest album, Jaded, on October 4. The 36-minute album features appearances from Kehlani, Muni Long, and Gunna, the latter of whom delivered a smooth feature on the track “Champs Elysses.” He made the rounds on New York hip-hop stations to promote it, including an appearance on Hot 97 that came shortly after his interview with Charlamagne, Envy, and Jess Hilarious. The full half-hour interview is available to listen to on The Breakfast Club‘s YouTube channel.
