Dee-1 Reflects On Having Suicidal Thoughts After BET Cypher

Dee-1 says he dealt with suicidal thoughts after his performance in the BET Cypher back in 2014. He explained on The Breakfast Club, Friday, that he was unsure he’d ever get another opportunity to showcase his skills.

“Right after that BET Cypher I started going to therapy, bro,” he shared. “I was signed to RCA at the time. You on the BET Cypher and you think your life about to change after this night…Nothing changed after that night. After that, I felt like I blew my shot. It started messing with me mentally to where I was like, ‘Damn, I kinda don’t even wanna be here no more. Not in the industry, but on this Earth…When I started realizing I was having suicidal thoughts behind feeling like I’m professionally a failure, I realized I couldn’t separate David from Dee-1 at that point. And that was unhealthy.”

Dee-1 Attends Essence Festival Of Culture

He continued: “And for the first time in my life, I went to therapy. Because I was like, talking to my friends, that ain’t getting it at this point. Talking to my grandma, rest in peace, that ain’t cutting it at this point. So therapy really did help me, but ultimately even more than therapy was understanding my God given purpose. I know who my creator is, I know why I was put here, and I was put here to glorify him. So who am I to think that my whole life is a failure because one moment didn’t elevate me professionally?” Check out his full conversation on The Breakfast Club below.

Charlamagne Tha God Denies DJ Akademiks Diss Allegations: Watch

Charlamagne Tha God has been a force in radio far longer than many realize, which is precisely why he’s so confident sharing his opinions on others and demanding his flowers. Earlier this week, a resurfaced snippet from an episode of Brilliant Idiots caused some debate online as the media personality referred to others occupying the same spaces in the years after his come-up as his “sons.” Specifically, the internet believes Tha God is referring to DJ Akademiks, host of the Off the Record podcast and known for beefing with femcees publicly.

“How did y’all come to the conclusion I was talking about Akademiks, though?” the South Carolina native asked co-hosts Jess Hilarious and DJ Envy on The Breakfast Club yesterday (February 27). “Well, last year [he] publicly called out you, Wallo, and Gillie and said that y’all are avoiding his podcast, acting brand new or whatever,” the show’s newest addition argued. “That was a year ago,” Charlamagne shot back, clearly not holding onto the past. “Let’s just face it, and say what it is,” Hilarious replied before dissing Ak and his “smell a** basement.”

Rather than feed into the pettiness, the father of four told his pregnant co-host to “cut it out.” Defending himself, Tha God added, “I was just talking. Like, when Nicki Minaj says, ‘All these b**ches is my sons,’ do we say she’s talking to one person?” He might not have satisfied Hilarious and Envy with his answer, but Charlamagne sure did have listeners laughing.

Elsewhere in the news, DJ Akademiks has once again found himself at war with Yung Miami online. According to the controversial podcaster, the City Girl is to blame for Diddy’s bombshell lawsuit from Cassie, not to mention all the chaos that’s ensued in the time since. French Montana On Nipsey Hussle’s Murder: “One Of The Most Disgusting Things I’ve Ever Seen”

French Montana reflected on the killing of Nipsey Hussle during his latest appearance on The Breakfast Club, Friday. He says that watching the rapper get murdered while trying to help his community and launching a clothing store scared him away from doing the same.

“I feel like watching that video with Nip was one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever seen in my life,” he said. “All he was trying to do was just try to change his neighborhood and just bring some great things back and try to buy his block. I feel like watching that scared me away from trying to do the same thing.”

From there, he discussed the late Coke Boys rapper, Chinx. Montana continued: “Look what happened to Chinx. Chinx got shot in Queens. Look what happened to a lot of people that don’t have a name, a lot of fallen soldiers. So why come back and do that?” Hussle died in the parking lot of his store, Marathon Clothing, in 2019 at the age of 33. He was shot 10 times and kicked in the head. The Los Angeles Police Department arrested then-29-year-old Eric Ronald Holder Jr. for the attack. He was later sentenced to 60 years in prison. The interview comes after Montana dropped his new album, Mac & Cheese 5. The 21-song project features collaborations with Kanye West, Lil Baby, Rick Ross, JID, and many more artists. Gillie Da Kid Trades Shots With Jess Hilarious, Proves He Can Cook Breezy On The Court

Gillie Da Kid called out Jess Hilarious after The Breakfast Club host said Chris Brown was a better basketball player than him.“sumbody tell @jesshilarious_official stop hatin,” Gillie captioned an Instagram post of him cooking Brown in a shooting contest. Hilarious is yet to respond back to Gillie.

The debate comes out of the news that Gillie was also uninvited from the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game. “The celebrity game would get more views than the All-Star Game but they won’t put me in there. Our assistant was talking to people from the league. I was told that I was playing in the game and I was going to be mic’d up. The m-thafucking list came out with the players and I wasn’t on it,” Gillie told the All The Smoke podcast.

Million Dollaz Worth Of Game A Media Outlet And Not “Just A Podcast,” Gillie Da Kid Argues

However, Gillie is no stranger to speaking on disrespect. He recently hit back at Million Dollaz Worth Of Game being put on lists of Best Black Podcasts. “I never seen the top white podcasts of 2023. I never seen that pop up, because they could just live in they own space. They ain’t in no competition with each other,” Gillie Da Kid said. However, he was also irked by the fact that it was even being called a podcast at all. “[W]e not no f-cking podcast, let’s get that right. We one of the biggest media outlets in the f-cking world,” Gillie added.

He also rankled at even having the podcast compared to others. “Can you tell me another podcast that do Gillie and Wallo K.O. parties where you sit 3,000 n-ggas in a arena and do 37,000 pay-per-view buys to see some n-ggas from the streets fight? Do another podcast out there got the fastest-growing fucking energy drink in the world — not in the United States, in the world? So we not no mothaf-ckin’ podcast,” Gillie added.

Fivio Foreign Recalls Mistaking Nicki Minaj Song For A Shoutout

Fivio Foreign recently discussed his viral video from last year in which he mistakenly thought the hook of Nicki Minaj’s song, “Everybody,” was a shoutout to him. He reflected on the mishap during an interview with The Breakfast Club on Thursday. Fivio and Minaj previously collaborated on the track, “We Go Up,” in 2022.

“It sound like she said ‘Fivi’ right?” he laughed, referencing a point in the song where Minaj says “body.”. “Nah, somebody told me that. [They were like], ‘Look, she says Fivi!’ But you know what it is? I ain’t really listen to the whole song. I was just hearing that part. They was like, ‘The sample is going viral on TikTok.’ I’m like, oh sh*t. [But then] I listened to the song and I saw the title and I’m like, ‘Oh sh*t. Aight.’ But I knew it before I posted it, but I was like, I’m still gonna post it.”

Jess Hilarious Addresses Trick Daddy’s “Ugly” Baby Comments

Earlier this week, Jess Hilarious shared some exciting news with fans of The Breakfast Club, only weeks after confirming her role as a permanent host. Her boyfriend Chris had called in to wish her a happy 32nd second birthday when he made the announcement. “Hey, baby. It’s your man. I wanted to call and say, ‘Happy birthday,’” he began. “I can’t wait to see you. I’m so proud of you. I love that you’re staying divine all the time, and you’re such an amazing woman. I can’t wait to see you later, and I’m so excited for our little bundle of joy, babe.”

For obvious reasons, fans have been bombarding the personality with congratulations and praise. Unfortunately, however, not everybody has been so supportive. Recently, Trick Daddy took to social media to weigh in on the news, revealing that he’s personally not happy about it at all.

N**ga, you done f**ked up,” he says in a clip. He didn’t stop there, however. Trick Daddy went on to say that the child “better come out looking like [Jess] and nothing like [Chris].” Evidently, Jess didn’t appreciate his comments and later addressed them on The Breakfast Club.

“Trick Daddy had hit my phone yesterday and was like, ‘You better hope that baby ain’t ugly when it come out.’ Like, excuse me? So, I said, ‘Well, it’s not yours, so I think we’re good over here.’ Don’t ever play with me,” she explained. “Don’t ever play with me like that. Fivio Foreign Opens Up on Guidance He Received From The Hip-Hop Police

Last week, Fivio Foreign dropped his new album Pain & Love 2. The project is his first since 2022’s B.I.B.L.E and once again sports some impressive features. Vory, Lil Tjay, Swae Lee, Meek Mill, 41, Sheff G, Popcaan, and Rowdy Rebel all appear in the tracklist of the album. Singles from the project like “Get Deady” and “Same 24” are already racking up millions of streams and the sales numbers from the album’s first week will drop over the weekend.

As a result of the new album dropping Fivio has been making the rounds on various interview shows. During an appearance on The Breakfast Club, Fivio made some interesting revelations about his interactions with the NYPD’s “hip-hop police.” He cited a specific officer whom the hosts of the show were already familiar with. He explains that the officer in question gave him some advice that made him change his approach. The officer specifically warns him to make the most of the opportunity he’s been given to succeed in rap and not waste it like others have. Surprisingly, Fivio seemed to take the advice to heart and implement it in his life and career. Check out the full interview clip below.

Fivio Foreign’s Hip-Hop Police Story

Earlier this month Fivio Foreign did an interview that was much more directly controversial. Mainly because he spoke on the Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion shooting incident. While on the show he spread some misinformation about the case that has long been debunked. Unsurprisingly, fans in the comments called him out, though it’s unclear if anything about his position on the case actually changed.

During that same interview, he discussed the moves he made after signing his first rap deal. He dug into some of the mistakes he made after getting a large sum of money for the very first time. What do you think of Fivio Foreign’s story about advice one of NYPD’s Hip-Hop Police team members gave him? Let us know in the comment section below.

Killer Mike Wasn’t Surprised By Kai Cenat’s Reaction To His Grammy Wins: ‘I Didn’t Know Who The F*ck You Was, Neither!’

The Killer Mike Grammy drama continues. For some background, there’ve been a few outspoken folks with very large platforms who were disappointed to learn that Mike swept the rap category (more or less) at this year’s Grammys, beating out some… shall we say, “more popular” candidates like Drake and Travis Scott.

Their opinions prompted very cranky reactions from their elders (does Joe Budden have any other kind?) but during his media victory tour, Mike seemed undaunted by the less-than-friendly reception to his win from younger rap fans, even joking on the Breakfast Club that he was really familiar with their game, either.

During his appearance on The Breakfast Club, Mike joked that he made a lot of money selling brooms online to celebrate his sweep, crediting their popularity to the kids’ complaints. “Shout out to the streamers and the youth,” he said. “Y’all done taught me a lot. I know my man Kai [Cenat] was upset… Hey, man, I didn’t know who the f*ck you was, neither!”

The jovial Mike then amiably requested an appearance on the 22-year-old’s stream, pointing out that Cenat has had Offset, another Atlanta rapper and a common ally between them, on in the past. “I ain’t hatin’ on none of y’all,” Mike said. “I ain’t on no n****s. I wanna see you win. I wanna see you happy.” He showed appreciation for Travis Scott, but showed the competitive spirit that has driven hip-hop for the past 50 years. “I will rap a motha*fcka under the table.”

You can watch Killer Mike’s full interview up top.
