Quavo And Takeoff Team Up With Birdman For Their Latest Single, ‘Big Stunna’

Amid rumors of a split, all of the members of Migos are dropping music tonight, whether it be together, or with a bandmate, in some way, shape or form. Tonight, Offset has dropped a new single called “Code,” while Quavo and Takeoff were featured on a song called “Party All The Time” from DJ Khaled’s new album, God Did. Earlier today, Quavo and Takeoff caught fans by surprise when they announced they would drop another single tonight called “Big Stunna.”

On “Big Stunna,” Quavo and Takeoff maintain their momentum as a duo, driving fast cars and rocking expensive jewelry. Though neither of the Migos directly address the rumored split, Quavo says, “I can’t hang / Ain’t no snakes / In none of my campaign,” which might just be a subtle reference. Birdman, the number one stunna himself, lists several famous duos, including, “Bird and Wayne, Stef and Klay, Take and Quay,” the latter referring to Migos members. This may imply that Birdman considers the Migos more iconic as a duo, in a similar vein to the other aforementioned pairs.

The song’s accompanying video sees the rappers drag racing and doing donuts in luxury vehicles.

Talk about stunting!

Is Offset Still Signed To Quality Control?

This Wednesday (August 24), TMZ reported that Offset filed a lawsuit against his label Quality Control over his solo career. Tensions boiled over to the Twitter timeline when he and QC CEO Pierre “P” Thomas went back and forth. With all of this, it remained unclear whether ‘Set was still signed to the label, especially after a summer full of rumors regarding Migos breaking up.

In an update to their original report, TMZ spoke with a representative from Quality Control who said “Not only are the accusations in this lawsuit false, they are totally detached from reality. Offset remains a part of QC. Back to business.” Offset has not said anything else on the matter as he gears up to release his next single “Code” featuring Moneybagg Yo.

About a month before the summer solstice, a conflict heated up in the long-running successful trio Migos when Quavo and Takeoff formed their own duo called Unc & Phew, and Offset subsequently unfollowed the two on social media. In the months following, Unc & Phew released two singles, Offset released his own music, but none of the three addressed the group’s status directly besides Quavo telling GQ that they are working on growing stronger because it only helps the group.

The situation is murky, and while none of the group members have addressed one another, things seem far from peaceful.

Did Offset Leave Migos?

It has been a summer of surprise albums and surprise group drama, though it’s likely no one ever predicted Migos would be the source of conflict. Soon after Quavo and Takeoff announced their new duo Unc & Phew back in May, Offset surprisingly unfollowed their social media accounts. Unc & Phew went on to release two singles in “Hotel Lobby” and “Us Vs. Them” featuring Gucci Mane all while Offset teased his own music, ultimately releasing “54321” last week. Now, as ‘Set is immersed in a public verbal joust with Quality Control CEO Pierre “P” Thomas over his contract, it seems certain that Migos has reached its end.

TMZ reported Wednesday (August 24) that Offset filed a lawsuit against QC after allegedly renegotiating his solo contract and securing his artist rights only for his label to not honor the deal. Soon after, P posted a now-deleted Tweet saying “The last lawsuit was filed publicly and dismissed quietly. Let’s see how this one go. Been to real for all this lame sh*t. Everyone know the real problem.”

Offset quoted him and fired back with “N****s act like im the problem I paid millions to get my rights back N**** you black balled me I ain’t said sh*t one time homie I ain’t spoke to you in 2 years now I drop and you want ya name on my credit?”

TMZ later updated their post with a report from a Quality Control rep stating Offset is still part of QC and the accusations in the lawsuit are “false” and “totally detached from reality.”

No member of Migos addressed their status as a group until Quavo was interviewed by GQ, saying the group has operated as a group for a long time and each “member has to establish themselves.” It appears that is happening now, or again rather after their solo album barrage in 2018 and 2019. However, things appear far from peaceful.

Migos Finally Explain Why Takeoff Wasn’t On ‘Bad And Boujee’

The hosts of the Rap Radar podcast are still plugging their upcoming episode with Quavo and Takeoff of Migos. While discussing topics like the duo’s recording processes, it seems that they also got to the bottom of a longstanding Migos mystery that has plagued fans since 2017: Why Takeoff doesn’t appear on the group’s No. 1 hit “Bad And Boujee.” While the question has been asked before, Elliott Wilson and Brian “B. Dot” Miller are just higher caliber journalists than Joe Budden and Akademiks, so they were able to get a much more positive response.

In fact, in sharing the clip on Twitter, Wilson seemed to reference the past incident, writing, “Did it look I was too shook to ask the question? Ha.” In the clip, he asks (respectfully), “Was it something about ‘Bad And Boujee’ why you didn’t wanna rap on that beat? Why wasn’t you on that song when it came out?”

This time, rather than popping up to intimidate the questioner, Takeoff left much of the talking to his uncle. “I just think it was just timing,” Quavo replies. “We was just trying to get something out. We was actually pissed off because we ain’t have no music out. I think like a couple months before the whole little wave and we was going through the litigation with 300 [Entertainment, their former label], so we ended up leaking ‘Bad N Boujee’ on SoundCloud first. Sh*t, I wasn’t even gonna be on it. I had to do my verse on some quick fast in a rush sh*t. So it was just like everybody running to the song and trying to get it done.”

So, there you have it. It seems it was all a matter of bad timing and rushing to get the song to market. Sometimes, things just work out, though… “Bad And Boujee” was Migos’ first No. 1 single, making them a household name outside of hip-hop and setting off their pop culture dominance for the next three years. As for whether or not their current duo configuration is temporary or permanent, I suppose we’ll have to wait for the full episode, which drops on August 18.

Migos Appear To Be A Duo Now As Offset Continues To Tease A Solo Project

Lawrenceville, Georgia rap trio Migos has been the subject of speculation among fans for the past several weeks, as fans wonder whether the band has split up thanks to group member Offset unfollowing his compatriots Quavo and Takeoff on Instagram. Just days after the unfollowing incident, Quavo and Takeoff released their own single “Hotel Lobby,” followed by the news they’d been replaced as Governors Ball headliners by Lil Wayne. At the same time, Offset began previewing his own new music, lending more momentum to the rumors.

Those rumors were accelerated today when a preview clip from an upcoming episode of the Rap Radar podcast featured Quavo and Takeoff appearing as a duo. While the full episode is due on August 18, fans couldn’t wait to speculate on why Offset wasn’t featured in the clip. Considering they’re also billed to perform at the 2022 Pepsi National Battle Of The Bands without reference to Offset, fans are rightfully anxious to know whether the trio has become a duo.

For what it’s worth, this isn’t the first time that the two Migos have performed without their compatriot. In 2013, shortly after their breakout with “Versace,” Offset was forced to serve a stint in DeKalb County Jail for violating his probation. Meanwhile, all three members of the group dropped solo albums between October 2018 and February 2019, and both Quavo and Offset released collaborative albums with artists outside the group in 2017 (Quavo, Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho with Travis Scott and Offset, Without Warning with 21 Savage and Metro Boomin).

So, the trio might well be a duo for now, but that doesn’t mean they won’t be back together again before we know it — after all, they are blood relatives (Quavo and Offset are cousins, while Quavo is Takeoff’s uncle). Some bonds are tighter than the rap business, and history shows they’ve yet to be separated even by the law. But the attention is definitely good for promotion, and fans will probably stay tuned in as long as there is the promise of drama to come.

Quavo x Takeoff Release New Single And Video “Us vs. Them” Featuring Gucci Mane

Delivering the kind of Atlanta anthem that moves the whole culture, multiplatinum GRAMMY® Award-nominated superstars Quavo and Takeoff unleash a blockbuster new single and music video entitled “Us Vs Them” featuring Gucci Mane—available today via Quality Control Music Group/Motown Records.

The track pairs a skittering trap bounce with unforgettable sirens. It sets the stage for Quavo and Takeoff to lock into an unbreakable and unbeatable lyrical volley highlighted by hilarious observations such as “Came from nothing, now my Lambo look like dolphin fins. It all builds towards the victorious chant, “Fuck that other shit, I’m going for the win. Meanwhile, Atlanta hip-hop legend Gucci Mane pulls up with a powerhouse verse of his own. The accompanying visual alternates between scenes in a parking garage and on a basketball court as fireworks rain from the ceiling, popping off with uncontainable energy.

It arrives on the heels of “Hotel Lobby. The latter has already generated 22.8 million YouTube views on the Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas-inspired music video and 39.6 million Spotify streams and counting. Earning critical acclaim right out of the gate, Billboard proclaimed, ‘Hotel Lobby’ impresses with a natural camaraderie that the members demonstrated on their early mixtapes, as Takeoff handles the denser flow and Quavo gleefully punctuating every fifth word with another ad-lib.” Not to mention, the duo performed it as part of A COLORS SHOW, posting up 1.3 million Spotify streams and 3.3 million YouTube views on the video as the first in a series celebrating Black Music Month created in collaboration with Motown Records.

However, this is just the beginning for Quavo and Takeoff
