Quavo Shines Bright On New Single “Greatness”

Quavo’s slowly returned to the fold since the unfortunate events that transpired in November 2022. Following the death of Takeoff, Quavo remained under the radar for the remainder of the year with the exception of his speech at his nephew’s funeral. However, his post-Infinity Links plans have begun to materialize when he released a tribute single to Takeoff, “WITHOUT YOU,” which he later performed at the Grammys as part of the In Memoriam segment.

Still, fans have wondered what the following plans were for Quavo, especially since the future of the remaining members of the Migos seemed uncertain. Prior to the release of Only Built For Infinity Links, Quavo confirmed that he was cooking up a solo album, though he hasn’t provided a concrete plan for its release. But, between the release of “WITHOUT YOU,” and his public outings, it seems like we could expect something for him soon.

Quavo Addresses Migos Future & Takeoff Death On “Greatness”

Quavo captured his sorrows on “WITHOUT YOU” but now showcases his resilience in his new single, “Greatness.” On Wednesday night, the Atlanta rapper hit the ‘Gram with a snippet of his latest single before unloading the song and visuals in its entirety. Quavo doesn’t disappoint on this one, sliding through with bars while his flows and ad-libs are reminiscent of early Migos cuts.

The record is an opportunity to get a few things off his chest. While Quavo pays his respect to Takeoff, he reflects on the importance of family and the struggles that he went through to be able to provide for his family. Elsewhere in the single, he addresses the future of the Migos following Takeoff’s passing and shows love to the Quality Control family. Check the single above.

Quotable Lyrics
You remember them MCM backpacks? We was runnin’ around with them racks
No Wock’, no Wock’, I ain’t never took Wock’ to Poland, I was drinking that Act’
Came in, swept the game like a storm with the motherfuckin’ flow, n***a, Take’ did that
So don’t ask about the group, he gone, we gone, young n***a, it can’t come back

Quavo Hints That Migos Is No More On His New Takeoff Tribute Track ‘Greatness’

Fans of Migos are still mourning the death of member Takeoff, who was shot and killed in Houston last November. Earlier this month, Quavo performed his song “Without You” during the Grammys “In Memorium” segment, in honor of his bandmate and nephew. However, following the broadcast, it was reported that fellow Migo Offset and Quavo got into an altercation backstage. Offset’s wife, Cardi B, was allegedly heard attempting to mediate the fight.

Offset denied the reports, but if these rumors are true, it doesn’t seem like Quavo and Offset will be making up anytime soon to revive the group. On his latest single, “Greatness,” Quavo offered a hint about the future of the group.

“Came in, swept the game like a storm with the motherf*ckin’ flow, Take’ did that / So don’t ask ’bout the group, he gone, we gone…it can’t come back,” raps Quavo in “Greatness.”

While it seems unlikely that we will get another Migos album, or that Quavo and Offset will continue Migos as a duo, Quavo appears to be proud of the impact the trio made throughout their career.

“This how legends was born, greatness / I couldn’t do it without the greatest group in the world, hmm, greatness,” Quavo raps on the song’s outro.

In the accompanying music video, Quavo is seen looking through photos and videos of the group, and reaping the fruits of their labor by way of driving in luxury vehicles and flashy jewelry.

NBA Youngboy Explains Why He Regrets Not Filming Music Video With Takeoff Before His Death

When NBA Youngboy appeared on a track off Quavo and Takeoff’s (Unc & Phew) Only Built for Infinity Links album, fans were more than excited to see what visual the trio would come up with. Especially after his last collaboration with the Migos, “I Need It,” which was released in 2020. Unfortunately, the visual never happened.

The collaborative track, titled “To The Bone,” only received a visualizer rather than an official music video with an appearance from all three artists. Youngboy recently opened up to Rap Radar host Elliot Willson about why the video never came together, noting that a minor setback caused plans to change last minute.

“Quavo sent me the song,” he said. “They came out here to do the video, but I think something happened. And it had me in a f*cked up mood. So, I had canceled the video. I regret it, though. It’s okay, though.”

Takeoff, one-half of the group, Unc & Phew, was shot and killed in November last year while attending a private event in Houston. The 28-year-old rapper was joined by Quavo and a few other associates at a bowling alley, but according to reports, it was a dice game that led to the confrontation. So far, one person has been arrested concerning the rapper’s death, Patrick Clark, who has since been released on a $1 million bail.

Quavo recently paid tribute to his former groupmate and nephew during his performance at the 2023 Grammys.

NBA YoungBoy Regrets Not Filming Music Video With Takeoff

Fans celebrated his appearance on Unc & Phew, but it was puzzling that NBA YoungBoy, Takeoff, and Quavo didn’t star in a visual of their collaboration. With a stacked lineup such as this, a music video almost always follows. However, “To the Bone” only received a visualizer, much to fans’ disappointment. The Louisiana rapper’s interview with Rap Radar has made the rounds, and during the conversation, YoungBoy admits there was a visual in the works.

According to the Rap star, a minor setback changed plans at the last minute. “Quavo sent me the song,” said YoungBoy. “They came out here to do the video, but I think something happened. And it had me in a f*cked up mood. So, I had canceled the video. I regret it, though. It’s okay, though.”

Takeoff was killed on November 1 last year at a private event in Houston. He was with Quavo and a handful of others at a bowling alley, and it’s reported that a dice game led to a confrontation. However, Takeoff wasn’t involved in the argument and instead was the victim of a stray bullet fired during the fray. He has been fondly remembered in Hip Hop and beyond, and police call his death a tragic accident.

Authorities arrested Patrick Clark in connection with the rapper’s death. Clark has since posted $1 million bail, reportedly paid for by a concerned citizen who believes in his innocence. Clark and his attorney have also insisted he wasn’t responsible for the crime, but the public is waiting to see what evidence is revealed during his trial.

Takeoff was an unproblematic figure in the industry, but his passing has sparked controversy. Rap-A-Lot icon J. Prince’s son was at the event when Takeoff was killed, and their family has endured harsh criticism from the public. Prince has declared his love and respect for Takeoff while also targeting Offset. The two engaged in a war of words on social media after J. Price insulted the Migos star. Things have settled as their peers attempt to keep the peace.

Akademiks Thinks Quavo Should Address J. Prince Targeting Offset

Nobody wins when the family feuds, or so they say, and DJ Akademiks thinks Offset and Quavo should unite. The Migos rappers are still mourning the loss of Takeoff, who was killed at the top of November 2022. He was at a private event in Houston with several others when a verbal argument turned deadly. Takeoff wasn’t involved in the fight but was said to be an innocent bystander who sadly lost his life.

J. Prince and his family have been enveloped in controversy after it was learned that J. Prince Jr. was at the fatal event. They were criticized for their proximity to the killing, but J. He fired off insults and claimed Offset’s family doesn’t have much contact with him.

Offset answered with a video of his own, but that only caused Prince to return. He alleged that Offset and Cardi B called him when they were having issues with purported gangs in Los Angeles. Prince also called Offset a “fake motherf*cka” and a “clown,” ushering in a beef that many don’t want to see unravel. Hip Hop commentators have chimed in with their hot takes, including DJ Akademiks, who believes Quavo should step forward in Offset’s defense. It’s rumored that the two relatives have been on the outs, including a near-spat that occurred backstage at the Grammys.

“You know the weirdest thing about it? I feel like more than Offset, J. Prince has disrespected Quavo,” said Akademiks. He then quickly corrected himself, saying it was less “disrespect” and more putting “Quavo on the spot.” He claimed that Prince insinuated that Quavo was responsible for Takeoff’s death. “They’re talking so much sh*t and we’re not hearing a motherf*ckin word from Quavo.

Sheek Louch Speaks On Takeoff’s Death, Calls Migos “The LOX Of The South”

Sheek Louch recently spoke on Takeoff’s tragic passing and called Migos “The LOX of the South” during a recent interview with VladTV. While the two rap groups seem far apart from each other, the Lox member expressed sadness over the Atlanta pioneer’s loss and admiration for his energy. Moreover, Vlad recalled doing the rap trio’s first ever interview. It was with Quavo and Takeoff, as Offset was incarcerated at the time. Moreover, both hip-hop figures discussed the impact of the group as a whole, acknowledging them as one of the most important of all time.

“Since our last interview, we lost Takeoff,” Vlad told Sheek. “You guys, I think, called Migos ‘the LOX of the South.’” Furthermore, the 46-year-old explained his praise for the trap icons. “Yeah,” he expressed, “earlier when they said that they the best group out, they supposed to feel like that. They made a hard impact. I told you how I feel about who is the best groups and all that kind of s**t. But Rest In Peace to that brother. So sad, man. Every time I seen him, he was just cool as hell. You know what I mean? I don’t know too much, but he was just cool, word. Laidback.”

Furthermore, DJ Vlad elaborated on doing the Migos’ first interview at Coach K’s request, and he didn’t know what they would accomplish. Moreover, they also discussed the danger of dice games, and recalled a story from Tony Yayo about “a friendly shootout” over a dice game. “Them s**ts are dangerous, bro. I do know of a few people that got killed at dice games. But long story short, it always goes down like that. Some kind of fight at the end of the dice game, or your money’s no good. Everybody’s standing around, it’s getting tight, you lost, you ready to leave… It always jumps off on them dice games. Always, faithfully.”

Meanwhile, Sheek Louch recently joined fellow LOX members Jadakiss and Styles P to perform at this year’s Grammys. Moreover, they formed part of a spectacular performance honoring hip-hop’s 50th anniversary and the genre’s greatness. From Grandmaster Flash to Lil Baby, Scarface to Nelly, Queen Latifah to GloRilla, and many more, the art form’s greats wowed audiences. J. Prince Calls Offset A “Clown” & “Fake Motherf*cka”

As Hip Hop continues to mourn Takeoff, the tension rises between Offset and J. Prince. It was rumored that Offset and his fellow Migos groupmates weren’t in the best of places when Takeoff was killed. Still, the late rapper was more than Offset’s Rap peer—they were cousins, and his loss devastated their family. Recently, J. Prince touched on the controversy while visiting Million Dollaz Worth of Game, which provoked a passionate response from the Migos rapper.

Prince’s name has been woven into conversations about Takeoff’s death. The rapper was in Houston with members of the Prince family when he was shot and killed at a private party. After a video of J. Prince Jr. walking past Takeoff’s body went viral, his father fiercely defended his name. J. Prince’s MDWOG appearance was widely criticized, and he’s upping the ante with an Instagram post targeting Offset.

During Prince’s podcast interview, he said, “This Offset dude. I ain’t gon’ leave him out because I’m real like this, you now? N***as be throwin’ rocks and hidin’ their hand.” He further added, “And the truth of the matter is, one can dance and different things in front of different cameras and all kinds of shit… You wasn’t really right there with Takeoff when he was alive. So, for you to be taking these positions you are taking – and I got people everywhere so I hear all kinds of things. I’mma just say this to you – don’t ever put me in a position where I got to defend myself.”

Offset angrily responded in a video, which wasn’t lost on Prince. The Rap-A-Lot icon posted a photo of Offset and penned a caption that has earned backlash. “A MESSAGE TO THE MAN THATS OFF,” Prince began. “To those of you that still live on principles over emotions that know and respect me it’s all good. I don’t care about the media hoes; they eat sh*t for a living. We live on different planets and breathe different air if you know what I mean.”

“I only display loyalty and friendship to my brothers and sisters until they show me they’re unworthy,” he also stated. “Never been a bully or lived a life where I abused my power on the weak. No matter what you heard; it’s cap. I’m glad I’m not one of those individuals that my family has to hold their head down when my name is mentioned. So excuse me while I deal with these clowns because ain’t nobody gonna tell them the truth like I’m a give it to them.”

Prince also alleged that Offset made threats against him and his family. He questioned why the rapper didn’t call him to address his concerns. Check it out above.
