T.I. Reflects On Kanye West’s Fall from Grace

T.I. discussed his relationship with Kanye West recently, saying that while the controversy was once his superpower, it became his downfall. During an appearance on The Breakfast Club, the Grand Hustle founder opened up about working with West in the early ’00s. Their musical careers began around the same time, and they collaborated several times over the years. It’s also no secret that these two have also been involved in their fair share of controversy. However, despite their shared history of drama over the years, T.I. claims West took things too far.

“Kanye was cool as hell,” T.I. said. “I ain’t even gonna cap. Kanye was more conversational. He read the room a lot better. It feels like Ye got to a point where he just stopped reading the room and just gave everything everywhere.” Last fall, West made several anti-Semitic comments, prompting huge brands like Gap, Adidas, and Balenciaga to cut ties with him. The disgraced rapper and mogul continued to anger fans by aligning himself with white supremacists like Alex Jones and Nick Fuentes.

Kanye Stopped Being Able To “Read The Room,” T.I. Says

As the interview continued, Tip reflected on the 20th anniversary of his second studio album, Trap Muzik. Tip also discussed working with West on the “Doin’ My Job” track. Also, he revealed that West played him some of his earliest hits from College Dropout, including “Through the Wire,” “Jesus Walks,” and “All Falls Down.”

In other related news, the rapper is looking to take his amateur comedy career to the next level. In July, it was announced that Tip would be making his television debut as a stand-up comic during Kevin Hart‘s upcoming Comic View reboot. “I’m thrilled to partner with BET for the return of ‘Comic View’ as part of Hartbeat Weekend, making this can’t-miss celebration of comedy, music, and culture,” Hart told Variety in a statement. Release dates for full episodes of Comic View have yet to be announced. However, they will be hitting BET at some point later this year. Be on the lookout for an update on the release dates.

Chika Says She Almost Died From T.I. and Tiny’s Granddaughter Drama

In a recent interview, Chika took the opportunity to expand on the details of a recent drama. The incident involved T.I. and Tiny’s granddaughter on a Delta flight together. “I feel like people used that moment as a reason to dog pile. It was completely blown out of proportion. I have a lot of thoughts on that actually,” the rapper said. “I think that any other person on this fucking planet being frustrated and venting like that would never be taken as “harshly” as everyone else took it.” According to HipHopDx, the incident started when she tweeted out about babies that were sat near her on an airplane. She claimed that the children were misbehaving and went off the handle with an entire series of tweets.

In her new interview, Chika claims that fans were purposefully misinterpreting her sentiments in order to be upset. “There’s a lot of moving parts there that people wanted to ignore in order to have a different conversation, so I allowed them to. If I were to have read into it any further, it would’ve killed me, and it almost did. So ultimately, just let that conversation happen and let people think what they want to think because who I am is going to shine through all of that shit anyway.” People weren’t shy in their criticism of the rapper following her original tweets. In particular when she said “I hope you get a paper cut between each finger tomorrow, you senseless wench,” about the mother of the children.

Trick Daddy, Trina, Jeezy, T.I. And More Held It Down For The South At The 2023 BET Hip-Hop Awards

After touching on hip-hop’s roots in the first Hip-Hop 50 tribute of the night and taking a trip out west in the second, the third Hip-Hop 50 tribute of the 2023 BET Awards focused on the contributions of the South — namely, south Florida. Naturally, there were some pretty obvious names that needed to show up, and show up they did. Trick Daddy and Trina performed their breakout hit “Nann N****,” while Uncle Luke of 2 Live Crew popped out for a raucous rendition of the group’s unapologetic hit “I Wanna Rock (Doo Doo Brown).”

More Southern artists appeared in a separate clip, as Atlanta crunk pioneers Yin Yang Twins rocked right after Chicago drill genre-breaker Chief Keef. Trillville wasn’t part of the tribute but appeared during Doechii’s performance of “Block Boy,” nodding to her interpolation of the group’s 2004 hit “Some Cut” with Lil Scrappy. Jeezy, T.I., and Master P also represented for Atlanta and New Orleans, respectively when they performed at another Hip-Hop 50 tribute later in the ceremony. Honestly, it was pretty packed — which is impressive, considering all this had to be coordinated without the help of a host to keep things in line.

You can watch some of the performances from the 2023 BET Awards above.

T.I. Wins Small Victory In Court Against Woman Who Says He Held Gun To Her Head

T.I. is nearing the end of a lengthy legal battle against Sabrina Peterson. The woman is a former friend of his wife, Tiny Harris. Peterson filed a lawsuit in 2021, accusing the rapper of harassment. She claimed that T.I. held her at gunpoint. However, a California judge’s recent decision has struck down several claims in Peterson’s lawsuit. According to Law360, the Second District Court of Appeal in California dismissed Peterson’s claims for trade libel, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and intentional and negligent interference with prospective economic advantage. T.I. and Tiny had filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit. In it, they have cited California’s anti-SLAPP law, which protects free speech.

While the couple’s initial motion was denied, the appeals court ultimately sided with them. However, Peterson’s case has not been completely dismissed. She is now required to pay the couple’s legal fees and costs incurred in moving to strike the claims on which they prevailed. T.I. and Tiny’s lawyer, Andrew B. Brettler, expressed satisfaction with the decision. He says he and is confident in clearing his clients of Peterson’s defamation and false claims.

The controversy began in January 2021 when Peterson, previously believed to be a friend of Tiny Harris, alleged on Instagram that T.I. had put a gun to her head in front of her children. She claimed the incident occurred while she was defending herself against T.I.’s former female assistant, whom she accused of mistreating Tiny. Peterson also publicized allegations of sexual assault made by other women against T.I. and Tiny. In response, the couple denied these accusations on social media.

In her posts about the alleged incident, Peterson had quite a bit to say. “The sad part about being a woman & BEING A BLACK WOMAN IS THIS! The public PRAISES OUR PREDATORS! [T.I.], you PUT A GUN TO MY HEAD IN FRONT OF CHILDREN & I NEVER CALLED THE POLICE ON YOU! But for years, you have painted me as the VILLAIN!” she wrote. What do you think of the case? T.I. And Tiny Lose $100 Million L.O.L. Surprise Doll Lawsuit

Screen Shot 2023 05 28 at 11.35.37 AM

In a shocking ending to a long trial, T.I. and Tiny have lost their copyright infringement lawsuit against the L.O.L. Surprise! doll maker MGA Entertainment. While many agreed that the top-selling dolls resemble the former girl group, a jury sided with the powerhouse doll company.

Rapper T.I. and his wife Tiny initially sued MGA Entertainment for allegedly stealing the name, likeness, and trade dress of OMG Girlz, the pop trio Tiny founded in 2009 — when the company launched its “L.O.L. Surprise OMG” dolls in 2019.

ti

The case first went to trial in January, but a mistrial was declared after T.I. and Tiny’s lawyer accused MGA of “racist cultural appropriation.”

The $100 million lawsuit went back to trial this month, and after arguments related to 31 potentially infringing dolls were made, the jury ultimately needed less than two hours to rule in favor of MGA Entertainment, Legal Affairs and Trials reported.

Following the verdict, MGA CEO Isaac Larian called T.I. and Tiny’s lawsuit a “shakedown.” “I’m not happy because I wasted a lot of time, energy — my employees’ time, energy — to deal with an extortion,” Larian said. “They knew from the beginning they don’t have a case, and they brought it anyways. And they picked on the wrong guy.”
