New music festival alert: The inaugural Sudden Little Thrills Music Festival is going down on September 7 and 8 at Hazelwood Green in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The lineup is bringing the heat, too: The Killers and SZA are headlining, and also performing across the fest’s two days and three stages are Melanie Martinez, Wiz Khalifa, St. Vincent, Fletcher, Omar Apollo, Yung Gravy, Girl Talk, Crowded House, Ethel Cain, Del Water Gap, Hoppi Campus, Juvenile, The Frive Era, Lupe Fiasco, Kenny Mason, Royel Otis, and more. The fest is also putting an emphasis on local performers, including Pittsburgh artists Feeble Little Horse, Corook, Fedd The God, and Krunk And The Center Of Life Band.

As for the name of the festival, a press release explains, “Inspired by Pittsburgh’s arts and culture legacy, the name Sudden Little Thrills embodies the ethos of the festival — to be present and open to sudden moments of fun, joy, and inspiration, and selecting Hazelwood Green as the festival’s home expands on that philosophy.”

SZA to Receive Hal David Starlight Award at 53rd Annual Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction

SZA Among Nomination Leaders for 2023 MTV Video Music Awards

The Songwriters Hall of Fame has announced that the esteemed Hal David Starlight Award for 2024 will be bestowed upon the talented artist SZA. The ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 13, at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.

The Hal David Starlight Award, named after SHOF Chairman Emeritus Hal David, recognizes young songwriters who have made significant contributions to the music industry. SZA joins an illustrious list of past recipients, including Post Malone, Halsey, and Taylor Swift.

SHOF Chairman Nile Rodgers said, “This is such an exciting time for songwriters and music. Phenomenal artists like Beyonce and Taylor Swift are pushing the envelope of what success looks like but who could argue that the last 2 years belong to SZA. Incredible songwriting, incredible performances, incredible artistry.  She so deserves to be the 2024 recipient of the Hal David Starlight Award!”

Born in St. Louis and raised in Maplewood, NJ, SZA has made waves in the music industry with her genre-defying sound. Her sophomore album, “SOS,” released in 2022, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and garnered universal acclaim. The album’s success earned SZA multiple Grammy nominations and solidified her as a force to be reckoned with in the music world.

SZA’s remarkable achievements extend beyond her chart-topping albums. She has received numerous awards, including a Best Pop Duo/Group Performance Grammy. Organizations such as Billboard, MTV, and the NAACP have recognized her contributions to music.

The Hal David Starlight Award is a fitting tribute to SZA’s talent and dedication to her craft. As she continues pushing the boundaries of creativity and songwriting, SZA remains a trailblazer in the music industry, inspiring audiences worldwide.

SZA Seemingly Reacts To Drake Name-Dropping Her In Leaked Diss Track

In Drake’s explosive leaked diss track, there was a particular set of bars name-dropping other artists that he thinks have surpassed Kendrick Lamar, his biggest opponent, that caught fans’ attention. These three artists are Travis Scott, 21 Savage, and K.Dot’s former TDE label mate, SZA. As for the first two, they’ve stayed quite mute on the subject, as they seem to have conflicting loyalties to Drizzy and to the Metro Boomin/Future camp. However, Solana seemed to respond to the 6ix God mentioning her in this song in a way that many fans think indicates that she’s not here for the back-and-forth.

Moreover, SZA posted a clip of NeNe Leakes of The Real Housewives Of Atlanta fame on her Instagram Story on Saturday evening (April 13). “Now, why am I in it?” NeNe says in the short video. “See how I get thrown into stuff? I ain’t even did nothing.” Of course, this was a hard post to interpret in any other way other than a response to her popping up in the Drake diss. It’s also puts the superstar in a bit of a complicated situation, as she just collaborated with Aubrey on two tracks off of his For All The Dogs album in October of last year.

Still, a lot of folks think that this collaboration doesn’t mean that SZA will switch sides on Kendrick Lamar easily. While there’s really not enough info or context to assume whether or not she will pick Drake’s side her or if she’s definitively standing by the Compton lyricist, we can at least assume based on this clip that she doesn’t really want any part of it, as she might be too busy dealing with Lana leaks. Maybe this bar sought to uplift these artists and to let them know that they have OVO’s backing, but maybe they don’t want this random involvement in the first place.

Meanwhile, others in the rap game were quick to seemingly address their mentions in this diss, with Rick Ross outright replying in diss track form within mere hours since the leak dropped. Do you think there will be more to come or will folks take a stance closer to what the St. Louis native is doing here? In any case, hit the comments section down below with your thoughts on all this. As always, for more news and the latest updates on SZA and Drake, keep checking in with HNHH.

SZA Says She’ll Release The ‘SOS’ Leaks As Part Of The Deluxe, But Is Still Working On ‘LANA’

We have yet another update on SZA‘s upcoming album, LANA. Originally set to be an extended version of SOS, the seemingly mythical LANA has had fans waiting with great fervor. However, it looks like we’re still going to have to wait a a bit longer.

Earlier this week, the “Snooze” hitmaker said that as a result of fans leaking songs from LANA, she would be starting the project over. But tonight (March 26), it appears she’s had a change of heart.

SZA took to Twitter to explain to fans that she will, in fact, give the leaked material a formal release.

“Will be dropping the leaks and outtakes from SOS as promised as the deluxe asap,” SZA said. “Lana deserves more time and music no one’s ever heard before. seems fair. Bless.”

She continued, saying that keeping up with the leaks was very taxing on her, and decided that it was easier to simply share the material as a gift with fans, and for LANA to evolve as its own body of work.

“I decided w all the leaks and me not knowing what someone has or doesn’t have it’s too complicated so I should jus consolidate the leaks and the outtakes and drop that as to not prolong the process and then focus on my next project as a win win for everybody,” she said.

Now, as for a release date, we’ll believe it when we see it.

Flo Milli, SZA, And Cardi B Bring Feminine Mystique To Their ‘Never Lose Me’ Remix

At long last, Flo Milli has shared her long-awaited sophomore album, Fine Ho, Stay. To celebrate the milestone, the Alabama rapper has shared a remix to her viral hit, “Never Lose Me.” On the remix, Flo is joined by Cardi B and SZA — and the three of them issue a reminder that they’re not the ones to take for granted.

Flo’s verses remain the same as those on the original, however, SZA gives the song a little bit more romantic flair.

“Hit me up, I’ll blow your mind / He speed in a Jeep with his hand on my booty / He touchin’ on me, I get goofy / From the ‘burbs, actin’ bougie,” she rap-sings on her verse.

Cardi steps in with some more heat, and as one can expect, adds some clever, yet hilarious one-liners.

“He love me, ain’t no need for no groupies / Hit Miami, I’m struttin’ my two-piece / On the beach, actin’ bad, we on Tubi / He don’t never ever wanna lose me,” Cardi raps.

You can listen to the “Never Lose Me” remix above.

Fine Ho, Stay is out now via RCA. Find more information here.
