Women’s World Cup: USWNT Crashes Out

The US Women’s National Team has suffered their worst-ever finish at a World Cup, crashing out of the 2023 tournament in a penalty shootout loss to Sweden. It had been a disappointing tournament overall for the two-time defending champions, who failed to score in three of the four matches they played. All three of the team’s tournament goals came in their opening match against Vietnam. Over the last eight World Cups, the US has averaged 17.3 goals a tournament.

That’s not to say there weren’t chances to beat Sweden. The US had 22 shots against the European side. In fact, the US had more shots on target (11) than the Swedes had total shots (9). However, it wasn’t enough as the Swedes played their signature style of ultra-defensive football that has frustrated the Americans in the past. Regulation and extra time both came and went with no goals, meaning it was going to penalties. A string of late misses from the Americans, including sky-high efforts from Megan Rapinoe and Sophia Smith, gave the Swedes the chance to win. Lina Hurtig’s effort initially looked like it had been saved but it bounced back across the line to give Sweden the win. Swedish goalkeeper Zećira Mušović was named Woman of the Match for her record-breaking 11-save performance.

What’s Next For the USWNT?

Soon enough, the blame game will begin. A lot of fault can be put on the shoulders of head coach Vlatko Andonovski. Andonovski made a lot of bizarre choices during the tournament and seemed completely unable to figure out a way past the Swedish defense. However, it was also an incredibly inexperienced squad that never really appeared to fully click. More changes will come, with Megan Rapinoe already announcing her retirement and Julie Ertz confirming hers after the loss.

The US is already qualified for the 2024 Olympic tournament in Paris. There, the US will look to bounce back from a disappointing bronze medal finish in Tokyo two years ago. It’s unclear what the team will look like – it’s likely that we haven’t had the last of the veteran retirements. However, what is clear is that something just isn’t working within the US National Team and if they don’t want it to become a persistent problem, they need to figure out what that is.

Destroy Lonely Blasts Cops For Stopping Mosh Pit

During a performance in Sweden, Destroy Lonely stopped the show when he saw that fans were prevented from forming a mosh pit. “Stop the music, stop the music,” he told his DJ before addressing the Swedish authorities. “Yo, what the fuck going on? Yo, let my people rock out bro. I ain’t gonna lie. Why are they trying to…why are they hitting my mosh pit like that? I ain’t gonna lie, y’all better fuck these n**as up. Run that shit, Trey.” However, for a minutes, the security persisted in holding fans back.

Eventually, security left the area and a true pit was able to form. Fans shouted “Bye bye bye!” repeatedly at the retreating security guards before getting down to moshing. There were no other reported incidents from the show. However, Lonely made it clear that he supports his fans’ right to mosh. The rapper had been performing at Lollapalooza Sweden when the incident occurred.

DL Incident Reminds Some Of A$AP Rocky

However, there’s a good reason that authorities may be weary of letting a mosh pit form. While pits are fairly self-regulating, they can get dangerous. Someone who knows that better than most is rapper A$AP Rocky. During the 2022 edition of Rolling Loud, Rocky decided to jump into the pit that had formed near his stage. Quickly realizing that it had very much been the wrong decision, Rocky attempt to escape, only to find himself trapped in the pit.

Eventually, the crowd was able to lift Rocky back on stage but the ensuing video served as a good reminder that once you entered the pit, it was much harder to get back out again. While Destroy Lonely didn’t enter his pit, it appears the two performers likely have very different views on them after their respective experiences. Have you ever moshed? Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance Tour’ Concert In Sweden Actually Contributed To Country-Wide Inflation, An Economist Claims

On May 10, Beyoncé kicked off her Renaissance World Tour in Stockholm, Sweden. Michael Grahn, Danske Bank’s chief economist in Sweden, is now claiming that the pop star had an impact on inflation purely by stopping by.

According to Politico, new data from Statistics Sweden shows a 0.3-percent rise from April to May. This is sparked by “a broad set of goods and services, for instance, hotel and restaurant visits” and “recreational services,” which the publication notes as including concert ticket purchases.

“Beyoncé’s start of her world tour in Sweden seems to have colored May inflation. How much is uncertain, but probably 0.2 p.p. of the 0.3 p.p. that hotels/restaurants added,” Grahn said. “We expect this upside surprise to be reversed in June as prices on hotels and tickets reverse back to normal.”

However, the publication pushed back against Grahn’s statement, pointing out that large concerts or sports events can boost hotel prices and other costs in towns, but this does not stay permanently or affect the entire country.

Politico goes on to showcase another example of this, using the Roland-Garros tennis tournament in Paris as an example, which caused hotel prices to rise by 4.3 percent. Beyoncé also held a concert in Paris during her current European tour and the situation was similar.

Economist Says Beyonce’s “Renaissance” Tour Contributed To Swedish Inflation

According to Michael Grahn, Danske Bank’s chief economist in Sweden, Beyonce’s first “Renaissance” tour stop had an impact on the Swedish economy. “Beyonce’s start of her world tour in Sweden seems to have colored May inflation,” Grahn recently told Politico. “How much is uncertain, but probably 0.2 p.p. of the 0.3 p.p. that hotels/restaurants added.” He said the inflation was due to an increase in “a broad set of goods and services, for instance hotel and restaurant visits” and “recreational services,” such as ticket’s to Bey’s tour. Grahn says they expect inflation “to be reversed in June as prices on hotels and tickets reverse back to normal.”

Beyonce kicked off her “Renaissance” tour in Stockholm last month, and fans went wild for her performance. One fan even got arrested on the opening night, for sneaking into a VIP section of the event. The show’s setlist was also reportedly leaked ahead of the tour stop.

The “Renaissance” tour has been attended by various celebrities, including Kylie Jenner, Future, Paul McCartney, and more. Ariana Grande even recently stopped by the tour amid rumors that she has a collab in the works with Queen Bey herself. Beyonce’s daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, has also been joining her mother onstage at various shows. Following the 11-year-old’s performance in Paris, Beyonce shared a sweet message to her daughter. “My beautiful first born [prayer hands emoji]. I’m so proud and thankful to be your mama,” she wrote on Instagram, “You bring us so much joy, my sweet angel.”

Beyonce also recently landed a spot on Forbes’ list of Richest Self-Made Women, alongside Rihanna, Taylor Swift, and more. She came in at No. 48, with a staggering net worth of $540 million. That’s not too surprising, based on the fact that her and her husband Jay-Z recently paid cash for a new, $200 million house.

Drake Shares Video of Him Being Detained in Sweden in 2022 Wrap-Up IG Post

drakearrestedinsweden

This past summer, a rumor floated that Drake was arrested in Sweden. Turns out he wasn’t arrested, but an encounter did occur. Drake was overseas in July and rumors stated The Boy was arrested after being found with marijuana. Sweden is notably the same place that held A$AP Rocky in custody, leading to then-President Trump attempting to show force but possibly making the case worse.

Days later, Drake hit Instagram and shared images from his overseas travels, including a trip to Ibiza. In the slideshow, Drake shared a note from the Swedish National Police Board titled “Information for Those Suspected of a Crime and Subsequently Detained.” It’s possible Drake was held for a short period of time but never fully taken into custody.

In a wrap-up of his New Year, Drake went further and shared a video of himself being taken into custody by Swedish officials.

You can see the full recap here.

Drake’s July Swedish Detainment Caught On Camera, Rapper Finally Posts Video: Watch

The summer of 2022 was a big one for Drake, what with the arrival of his surprise Honestly, Nevermind album. That was an undeniably huge success for him. However, the warmer months also saw the Canadian rapper landing in some hot water with Swedish police.

Specifically, in July, he was detained by authorities regarding marijuana-related charges after partying in Stockholm. As HipHopDX notes, weed is still illegal in Sweden. At the time, Drizzy’s team vehemently denied any claims that he was in police custody.

Just a few days later, the father of one shared a document from the Swedish National Police Board. “Information for Those Suspected of a Crime and Subsequently Detained,” the document reads. It additionally outlined his rights, such as, “know what it is you are suspected of and why you are being denied,” and “receive the aid of a defence attorney who under certain conditions can only be paid by the state.”

During detainment, Drake also had the right to “receive food and rest as needed” as well as “receive the assistance of an interpreter during interrogations as needed.”

While the incident was in the headlines throughout the summer, it’s since been largely forgotten. This is largely due to the arrival of two new albums from the industry behemoth.

Surprisingly, Drake came through at the end of 2022 with some telling footage from the night of his detainment. In a photo dump on his Instagram feed, the father of one shows a clip of him heading towards a Swedish police car while wearing a bright orange sweatsuit.

In his caption, the wordsmith wrote, “The funds are useful / The lyrics are truthful / The suspects are usual / The opps are delusional.” He continues, “The finish line is beautiful / And the disrespect is mutual. See you in ’23.”

Of course, the post has people talking about Drake all across the internet. It’s certainly not the only reason why he’s making waves though. Another video, this one of the artist’s private jet, has been circulating after landing incredibly close to a group of people celebrating on the beach in St. Maarten.

Drake Shares Note From Swedish Authorities on Instagram Following Arrest Rumors

Drake wasn’t arrested in Sweden but an encounter did occur. Drake was overseas in Sweden, and rumors late Thursday night swirled, stating The Boy was arrested after being found with marijuana.
