Suge Knight is sending a message to Diddy: avoid prison at all costs.
Speaking on his Collect Call podcast, Knight stated Diddy’s “life is in danger” while also saying the investigation is “a bad day for hip-hop, for culture, for black people.”
“Brother Love is not a good code name for prison,” Knight said, adding he had to “face the music.”

On this day in Hip-Hop history, Death Row Records, in conglomeration with Interscope Records, released the soundtrack to the popular film, Above the Rim. Winning the 1995 Source Award for Soundtrack of the Year, this album featured so many hits that it could have stood alone from the movie as a compilation album.
Acting as executive producers of the project, Suge Knight and Dr. Dre curated one of the most popular movie soundtracks of all time. This album featured artists 2Pac, Warren G, SWV, Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, The Lady of Rage, and more. Due to the popularity of the artists and the success of the movie, the soundtrack sold 2,000,000 copies in the year of its release and peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart. Although it fell short on the mainstream chart, the album was able to grab hold of that #1 spot on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart. Here are some videos from the outstanding soundtrack to help jog your memory of its greatness.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame is made up of over 2,700 stars – several of them belonging to some of the biggest names in hip-hop. On Tuesday (March 19), Dr. Dre finally joined the ranks, proudly celebrating at a star-studded ceremony alongside Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent, and other friends. “I’m incredibly grateful for your support throughout the years. Most of us have grown up together. And at nearly 60 years old, you’re still rocking with me, and I really appreciate that,” the former NWA member said during his speech.
“I’m nowhere near done. You better believe there’s a lot more coming,” the California native promised. “Pouring my whole soul and self into my passion for hip-hop led me on a pathway to an incredible career, and I’ve been fortunate enough to make a living doing exactly what I love to do.” While Dre and his contemporaries were obviously excited about the special occasion, criticism has been flying online due to the multi-talent’s troubling past with women.
One person who was unable to attend Dre’s ceremony was Suge Knight, who’s ineligible for parole until October 2034. Still, he made sure to commemorate the moment with a Twitter/X post demanding his flowers. “All you boys, [you’re] welcome!!! #DrDre #SnoopDogg #DJQuik,” the music executive wrote above a Getty Images screenshot from yesterday’s event. “And you contributed to this how??? Just asking,” someone wrote under Knight’s tweet, though he didn’t bother to give them a response.
As he continues to serve his 28-year sentence, Suge Knight is having no trouble getting his messages out to the public from behind bars. One of his latest viral stories is about Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and Diddy, all of whom the former Death Row Records leader claims are in a “secret society.” Read what the “Gin N Juice” hitmaker had to say about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.
Suge Knight says there’s a double standard in the industry when it comes to Dr. Dre. Discussing the Grammys naming their Global Impact Award after the legendary producer, Knight compared the industry’s treatment of him to Chris Brown. He brought up the topic on his podcast, Collect Call.
“You can have a man that’s part of that secret society and they gonna give him an award — the Impact Award,” he said. “That motherf*cker beat up more b*tches than anybody. This man gets an award for beating up women. Chris Brown is stripped of his crown and not saying it was right that him and Rihanna got into it and they had a fight or he beat her up. I’m not saying that, but what I’m saying is this: he had a fight with one woman or he beat up one woman — and they still casting stones at him.”

Knight further said: “They don’t give him his cigar, they don’t let him come perform, they don’t let him pretty much win awards. But you can have an Impact Award with Andre.” The award is said to “recognize the contributors, creatives and professionals with a proven track record of uplifting Black music.” JAY-Z was the latest artist to accept it. Check out Knight’s full comments on Dr. Dre below.
The comparison between Dre and Brown comes after the latter claimed the NBA uninvited him from the All-Star Celebrity Game to keep sponsors happy. Be on the lookout for further updates on Suge Knight on HotNewHipHop.
Suge Knight is a figure within hip-hop who was feared for many years. Overall, he has had a hand in the careers of a lot of artists. Moreover, there are plenty of conspiracy theories surrounding the rap mogul and the things he has done. At the end of the day, these theories are almost impossible to confirm. However, if one thing is for certain, it’s that fans like to clown him. Now that he is in jail, it has been easier for people to do so without consequence. Sure, he has a podcast now, but he saves that for old stories and even rehashes of old feuds.
Yesterday, Suge found himself going viral for completely different reasons. As many of you already know, yesterday was Valentine’s Day. This can be a difficult holiday for many, especially if you are lovelorn. Well, he was looking to appeal to his women fans as he posted a nude photo of 2Pac in the shower. According to Suge Knight, this was a never-before-seen photo. “Happy Valentines Day to all my female 2pac Fans!!! Never seen before picture of 2pac taking a shower!!!” he wrote.
This was all extremely bizarre, especially as he made sure to tag Jada Pinkett Smith. Subsequently, fans took to the comments and the quotes to question Suge for this post. Some were curious as to why he would even have a picture like that. Furthermore, there were some who began to question Suge and his sexuality. This is a common phenomenon on social media, and the posting of this photo certainly did not help matters in the least bit. Regardless, it is clear that maybe the former rap mogul made a miscalculation with this one.

While Jadakiss tells one Suge Knight story, Boosie Badazz has another. Speaking with VladTV, Boosie revealed Knight wanted to add Boosie to the Death Row Records roster to make him the “next 2Pac.”
“Suge came down there to Baton Rouge in ’09, ’08, he was talking about signing me,” Boosie said. “People was telling him I was his next 2Pac.”
On a recent episode of Wallo and Gillie’s A Million Dollaz Worth Of Game, D-Block front man Jadakiss was asked if he ever had any interaction with former Death Row CEO Suge Knight and his response was quite surprising. Al Qaeda Jada claimed that the incarcerated Compton record exec followed him around Los Angeles for a verse, but he contends that he wasn’t going to get extorted for one of his coveted sixteen bar verses.
Jada says that Knight had a “built-in” respect for him by default because of Ruff Ryders Ent. bosses Dee and Waah and added, “Suge knows about life. Real recognize real.” Jada went on to say, “there was a time where [Suge] was popping up everywhere,” which had the L.O.X. founding member wondering if Knight had someone following him while he was in the City of Angels.
Suge Knight is currently serving a 28-year prison term on a murder charge for the 2015 death of Terry Carter after Knight ran over Carter on the set of the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton.
Boosie Badazz says that he met with Suge Knight back in the 2000s, prior to his prison sentence, to discuss signing with Death Row. Appearing on VladTV, Boosie claimed that people had told Knight he could be the “next 2Pac.”
“Before I went to prison, Suge came down there to Baton Rouge in ’09/’08, he was talking about signing me. People was telling him I was his next 2Pac.” He didn’t go into details besides confirming he was interested in signing to Death Row. “Everything happen for a reason. When I’m down with you, I’m down with you. I’d have been beefing with everybody Suge would have been beefing with,” he added.
Boosie’s revelation about Death Row comes after he recently came to the defense of 2Pac’s legacy on social media. When T-Pain argued that Pac’s lyrical prowess wouldn’t hold up in the modern era, Boosie called him out on Twitter. “Why PAC still hittin n yo favorite lyricist Not? I don’t like when y’all sh*t on 2Pac,” he said at the time. “If he was living YALL wouldn’t step r talk about PAC n then death row n****s! 2Pac was a great lyricist. U probably wouldn’t understand him if u never been through the struggles that this world brings! @TPAIN I disagree the lyrics n songs these days last a couple years n there gone because they don’t have meaning. The lyrics don’t touch your heart.”
Boosie Badazz Recalls Meeting Suge Knight
Boosie doesn’t have the same level of reverence for every legendary rapper. He recently explained on social media that he’s still disappointed in Kanye West for his anti-Black statements and behavior. Be on the lookout for further updates on Boosie Badazz on HotNewHipHop.
Maybe Katt Williams-Ludacris rap beef was on your 2024 Bingo card after the comedian went full scorched-earth on the entertainment industry earlier this month. If it was, I congratulate you and also recommend you play the lottery immediately, because your foresight is superhuman.
Of course, it’s only natural that some of the celebrities Williams name-checked during his viral appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s podcast would want to respond — in this case, Luda. The Fast & Furious star responded to Williams’ outlandish accusations with a lighthearted verse on his socials, both denying Katt’s claims and sneaking in a jab of his own.
Ironically, Ludacris and Katt were collaborators and friends at one point. In fact, on “Pimpin’ All Over The World,” another song from The Red Light District, the album which contains “Number One Spot,” Katt appears as a guest. But he apparently felt a way about being passed over for a role in the Fast franchise (allegedly), which he attributed to his refusal to participate in Illuminati rituals.
On Club Shay Shay, he claimed that Ludacris cut his hair in 2006 as part of this ritual — never mind the fact that the haircut came three years after his appearance in 2 Fast 2 Furious and his next appearance in the series was five years later, in 2011’s Fast Five. Luda’s response was to suggest that Katt was feeling some sour grapes — and possibly on drugs.
However, it looks like Katt isn’t quite done yet. During another podcast appearance — this time, Suge Knight’s Collect Call, which… yeah, there are too many podcasts — Williams played a bit of a new track, which borrows part of the chorus from Luda’s 2004 hit “Number One Spot” to lash out at the rapper-turned-Christmas-movie-star.
“I’m coming for your number one spot,” he rhymes on the chorus. “One of us a killer, and the other one is not.” In the verse, he goes after Luda directly, rapping, “Oh Chris, I wish it never came to this / And you pissed, rapped for free for the first time but you dissin’ this / The wrong side of history in a time like this / It’s so Ludacris.” It’s uhhhhh…. something.
There’s a little more, but it’s… not great. Katt’s a funny guy and I get why his Club Shay Shay interview was so entertaining for the peanut gallery, but this is one arena in which he’s better off not competing, lest he become the butt of the joke. You can check out the track below.
Katt Williams accuses Ludacris of being bi-curious and sleeping with Quincy Jones in an unfinished diss song played for Suge Knight, which is a planned response to Ludacris freestyle.
Did you know that Suge Knight has a podcast? I didn’t, and now I do, and I don’t know what to do with that information. Part of me thinks that there is no way Suge Knight should have a podcast, especially considering he’s currently in prison for running someone over with his SUV.
On the latest episode of this podcast, Collect Call (great name, by the way), Suge’s guest, Katt Williams, claims he’s working on a new posthumous Tupac album with some of the California rapper’s unreleased verses. One unexpected guest he names is Cardi B, which is sure to delight Gen-X and millennial hip-hop fans who grew up on ‘Pac’s music in the ’90s. The discourse is bound to be exhausting.
As they discuss the potential project Williams is putting together, Knight asks, “How many people you gonna have on the project?” Katt says there will be eight, and they’ll be “only the best of the best.” Knight also queries, “I heard Cardi on the project with you, is that true?” After confirming her presence, Knight calls her “the female version of Tupac” and Katt agrees, “We love Cardi B. She’s going to mix with him nicely. Everybody that’s on it is a piece of him, in a way.”
If such a project does come to fruition, we’ll see whether these words turn out to be prophetic or just piss people off (probably both, if we’re being honest). You can listen to the full episode of Collect Call (complete with some head-scratching AI “art” of Suge and Katt) above.
