Dr. Dre’s Hollywood Walk Of Fame Ceremony Has Suge Knight Seeking Flowers From Prison

The Hollywood Walk of Fame is made up of over 2,700 stars – several of them belonging to some of the biggest names in hip-hop. On Tuesday (March 19), Dr. Dre finally joined the ranks, proudly celebrating at a star-studded ceremony alongside Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent, and other friends. “I’m incredibly grateful for your support throughout the years. Most of us have grown up together. And at nearly 60 years old, you’re still rocking with me, and I really appreciate that,” the former NWA member said during his speech.

“I’m nowhere near done. You better believe there’s a lot more coming,” the California native promised. “Pouring my whole soul and self into my passion for hip-hop led me on a pathway to an incredible career, and I’ve been fortunate enough to make a living doing exactly what I love to do.” While Dre and his contemporaries were obviously excited about the special occasion, criticism has been flying online due to the multi-talent’s troubling past with women.

Suge Knight Acknowledges Dr. Dre on His Big Day

One person who was unable to attend Dre’s ceremony was Suge Knight, who’s ineligible for parole until October 2034. Still, he made sure to commemorate the moment with a Twitter/X post demanding his flowers. “All you boys, [you’re] welcome!!! #DrDre #SnoopDogg #DJQuik,” the music executive wrote above a Getty Images screenshot from yesterday’s event. “And you contributed to this how??? Just asking,” someone wrote under Knight’s tweet, though he didn’t bother to give them a response.

As he continues to serve his 28-year sentence, Suge Knight is having no trouble getting his messages out to the public from behind bars. One of his latest viral stories is about Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and Diddy, all of whom the former Death Row Records leader claims are in a “secret society.” Read what the “Gin N Juice” hitmaker had to say about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

DJ Kool Herc Breaks Into Tears As LL Cool J Inducts Him Into Hall Of Fame, Big Boi Speaks For Kate Bush

DJ Kool Herc broke down into tears as LL Cool J inducted him into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on Friday night. LL Cool J reflected on the origins of hip-hop by discussing how Herc helped spawn the genre DJ’ing a party for his sister, Cindy Campbell. She had been trying to raise money for back-to-school clothes in 1973.

“We don’t know how much money Cindy managed to raise that day or what clothes she managed to buy but we know she changed the course of history, of music history,” LL Cool J said. “That party has come to be known as the birthplace of hip-hop.” He added: “It’s a culture that changed my life obviously. It changed the lives of millions and millions of people.” While taking the stage, Herc admitted: “I got tears in my eyes.” Cindy joined him for the speech.

Outside of Herc, Kate Bush, George Michael, Sheryl Crow, The Spinners, Link Wray, Chaka Khan, Missy Elliott, Al Kooper, Bernie Taupin, and Don Cornelius were all inducted on Friday night. At the ceremony, Big Boi spoke in honor of Bush. He explained that he’s been a fan of the legendary singer since middle school.

Big Boi Speaks On Kate Bush

“It’s no surprise that she had a surge of popularity decades after she emerged on the scene,” Big Boi said. “After all, if you were hearing Kate’s music for the first time, why wouldn’t you believe she was a current artist? The only mistake you might make is that the artists she influenced had influenced her. But it’s very much the other way around. Kate Bush has helped shape contemporary music, even the music of artists who have never heard of her. She is a true artist and a true visionary and that’s why Kate Bush belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.”

Tupac Receives Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Tupac Shakur has finally received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Today, a ceremony was held in honor of the late icon joining the growing list of rappers to receive a Hollywood star. The ceremony was hosted by Big Boy, and Tupac’s sister, Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur, accepted the star on his behalf. The event also featured speeches from Tupac’s godfather Jamal Joseph and the director of the recent Dear Mama docuseries, Allen Hughes.

Tupac’s star lives at 6212 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, joining stars for Missy Elliot, Nipsey Hussle, DJ Khaled, and more. Producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Ana Martinez shared a statement with LA Times about the star. “Tupac Shakur was a rapper, actor, activist, poet, and revolutionary,” Martinez stated. She continued, explaining, “This iconic artist has continued to be part of the zeitgeist for decades after his passing and will continue to be an important cultural figure for many years to come. Surely, as one of L.A.’s own, Tupac’s star will be added to the list of most visited stars.”

Recently, various artists have taken to social media to share their thoughts on Tupac just now receiving his Hollywood star. “It took them 25 years + to give Tupac a star on Hollywood Blvd?” YG asked last week, “Y’all got him f****ed all the way up.Boosie Badazz also chimed in, writing, “Tupac ain’t ON THE HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME?” He also said, “WTF THE DISRESPECT,” adding, “Don’t worry he saying F**K YALL from the Grave.”

Last week, Tupac’s biological father, Billy Garland, opened up about his feelings on Hughes’ recent Dear Mama docuseries. “We did an interview for about two hours,” he revealed. He also went on to say, “After I saw the interview in the documentary, I was slightly disappointed, let’s just say that. I didn’t like it. It was more about something else, than about 2Pac, if you know what I’m saying. If I knew it was about Dear Mama, I might’ve still did it, but I probably wouldn’t have. Not for nothing.”
