The basketball competition kicks off at Norfolk State on Friday, March 29th, before hitting Hampton, Jackson State, and Morgan State. Students will be able to participate, and they can even secure an NIL deal to become one of the new faces of STARRY, the delicious, refreshing lemon lime-flavored soda—joining superstars such as Ice Spice and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

One student at each school will also receive a $20K scholarship for their education.

“Being competitive doesn’t just apply to sport, life itself is about hunger, drive and teamwork. This initiative is about rewarding students for their grind on and off the court, showing love and supporting our people while chasing their dreams,” said Lil Durk.

STARRY is the official soft drink of the NBA, WNBA, and NBA G League. Teaming up with Lil Durk to give back to the community will be an unforgettable moment and opportunity for college students.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Leads New STARRY Campaign During NBA All-Star Weekend

STARRY®, the official soft drink of the NBA, WNBA, and NBA G League, has added Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo to its roster of NBA and WNBA talent. Joining a star-studded lineup including A’ja Wilson, Jamal Murray, Zion Williamson, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Myles Turner, Antetokounmpo is set to shine bright for STARRY during NBA All-Star Weekend.

“In addition to being an unstoppable force on the court, Giannis embodies the refreshingly fun spirit of STARRY, bringing unexpected and showstopping moments with him wherever he goes, making him the perfect addition to our roster,” said Michael Smith, senior director of STARRY Brand Marketing.

“STARRY has such a playful attitude like me, so I was definitely game when they asked me to work together on shaking things up,” said Antetokounmpo.

Antetokounmpo stars in the newest STARRY campaign, “It’s Time To See Other Sodas,” alongside Ice Spice, urging fans to choose STARRY over traditional lemon-lime sodas. The campaign will debut during State Farm All-Star Saturday Night on February 17, coinciding with the STARRY 3-Point Contest.

Ice Spice Lets Her Ex Down Easy In Her Debut Super Bowl Commercial With The Help Of Starry

Oh, how time flies. Valentine’s Day is next week. However, not everyone will be spending their night cuddled up. “Think U The Sh*t (Fart)” rapper Ice Spice had to remind a former flame of this sad fact. In her debut Super Bowl commercial, Ice Spice enjoys a beautiful night out with her newfound love, Starry.

As Ice Spice is showered with love by the beverage company’s digital avatars, her ex rudely interrupts the trio. In the teaser for the ad slot, viewers were left wondering who would make an onscreen cameo. But as the camera pans to the mystery man, the reveal is silly yet disappointing.

The crushed lover is actually one of Starry’s competitors. The actors’ blurred hoodie makes it hard to determine whether that’s Sprite or 7UP. Ice Spice isn’t a stranger to beef in her music, so Starry picked the right ambassador for their war for the No. 1 soda spot.

In a statement, the brand praised their star. “Ice Spice’s charm and charisma are unmatched, making her the perfect fit for the brand’s first Super Bowl commercial,” read the statement.

Ice Spice expressed the same feelings to Billboard. “I’m hyped to star in the first-ever Starry Super Bowl commercial,” she said. “Trust me. starry is a vibe.

Ice Spice Debuts Starry Super Bowl Ad

The full Starry’s Super Bowl ad featuring Ice Spice has finally dropped. In the ad, Spice is being rizzed up the soda brand’s two animated mascots when her “ex-boyfriend” shows up to try and win back the rapper. When she rejects him, the man’s head horrifyingly explodes in a fountain of soda. Titled “It’s Time To See Other Sodas”, the ad dropped on February 2. However, contrary to the belief of some gossip sites, the ad did not reveal any details of the rapper’s actual love life.

However, it’s not Spice’s first food and drink advertising collab. Before she was doing Super Bowl ads, she was appearing in Dunkin commercials. Last year, Spice teamed up with Ben Affleck to promote her limited-time signature drink at the coffee chain. The first ad for the Ice Spice Munchkins Drink dropped during the VMAs on September 12. In something of a meta advertisement, Spice and certified Boston Boy Ben Affleck tried to come up with names for her signature drink. It’s a fun little spot with Affleck turning his Southie accent up to 11 while an unimpressed Spice serves as his straight woman.

Ice Spice Fires Off At Latto

However, exploding the heads of inferior soda-loving exes is not the only thing that Spice has been up to lately. Spice renewed her beef with Latto with some scathing remarks during a recent Spaces AMA. While answering fan questions, Spice went off about Latto playing the music video for “Pretty Girl” in the background of a recent video. “Why am I in the back of your weak a– snippet? I thought it was fake, I thought it had to be AI but no. Like be bold, but if you’re going to talk about me, then talk about me. Why am I in the back of your weak a– snippet?” Spice off to the collection of shocked listeners.

This latest barrage from the Bronx rapper comes after she dropped “Think U The Shit (Fart)” in which she took direct shots at Latto. It’s still unclear what caused the beef to initially kick off. However, fans immediately drew battle lines. Latto is yet to directly respond to both Spice’s new single and the latest comments about the surprise cameo in her latest snippet. Whose side are you on? Let us know in the comments.

Ice Spice Solidifies Her Stardom In Her First Super Bowl Commercial Teaser

For the past few years, there has been no greater sign of a new entertainer’s ascendency than starring in a Super Bowl ad. It’s an honor normally reserved for household names, folks with the sort of brand recognition that ensures viewers at home do the real-life version of that Leonardo DiCaprio pointing at the TV meme from Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

It looks like the latest rising star to receive that honor is Ice Spice, who will appear in her first-ever Super Bowl commercial for upstart soft drink brand Starry. Starry ( a rebranded Sierra Mist) has been using its competitor Sprite’s 1990s marketing approach, directing its efforts at a “cool/young” demographics via sponsoring the NBA’s All-Star events and employing contemporary rappers in its advertising.

According to AdAge, the brand’s efforts to tap Gen Z have focused on TikTok, where Ice Spice notoriously first made her entry into the public consciousness before becoming nearly ubiquitous in 2023 with features alongside Taylor Swift (“Karma” remix) and Nicki Minaj, the latter on both her own “Princess Diana” remix and the inescapable Barbie soundtrack hit, “Barbie World.”

In the teaser for the ad, which Starry shared today on YouTube, Ice Spice is on a date with a new guy (sipping a Starry, of course) when she notices her ex walk in. We don’t get to see what happens next, which will presumably be revealed during the Super Bowl itself. For now you can check out the teaser above.

Ice Spice’s Debut Super Bowl Commercial Will Show Off The Rapper’s Sweet Side With A Soda Partnership

Taylor Swift’s domination of NFL coverage has sprouted a new subset of at-home viewers. While avid football fans are excited to watch the epic sports showdown at this year’s Super Bowl, others are tuning in for a different genre of entertainment: Some non-sports fans’ interest in the evening is Usher’s halftime show performance. The other remaining curiosity is lasered in on what witty commercials are set to air throughout the broadcast.

Today (January 9), Billboard exclusively revealed that “In Ha Mood” rapper Ice Spice has been tapped for a coveted advertisement slot. As Starry’s newest celebrity ambassador, Ice Spice will lend her likeness to the company for its upcoming Super Bowl commercial. You might recall Ice Spice’s signature drink deal with Dunkin last year, but this is quite different.

Instead of formulating a new beverage concoction, Ice Spice will simply sit pretty as she sips on PepsiCo’s newest lemon-lime soda, which was introduced in 2023. This national coverage is just the fizz she needs going into the promotion of her forthcoming debut studio album. A representative for the company referred to the partnership with Ice Spice as “a no-brainer.”

“Ice Spice’s charm and charisma are unmatched, making her the perfect fit for the brand’s first Super Bowl commercial,” read the statement.

Ice Spice echoed that in her note shared with Billboard. “I’m hyped to star in the first-ever STARRY Super Bowl commercial,” she said. “Trust me. STARRY is a vibe.
