Big Ten Schools Call For Action On Michigan Sign-Stealing

Representatives from 13 of the schools in college athletics’ Big Ten Conference have urged the conference commissioner to take action against the 14th school, Michigan. This comes after a wide-ranging and elaborate sign-stealing operation was exposed and is now being investigated by the NCAA. Five sources familiar with the call told ESPN that the coaches demanded immediate action against Michigan. “Collectively, the coaches want the Big Ten to act — right now. What are we waiting on? We know what happened,” one source summarized. As a result, the Conference scheduled a call between the commissioner and school athletic directors for later in the week.

Coaches reportedly used “tainted”, “fraudulent”, and “unprecedented” to describe Michigan’s actions. Furthermore, coaches pointed to Michigan’s 22-1 conference record over the last three years, the period of time that the sign-stealing operation has reportedly been in place, as proof of its effect on the conference. “People don’t understand the seriousness of it. How it truly impacted the game plan. To truly know if it’s a run or a pass, people don’t understand how much of an advantage that was for Michigan,” another source said.

The Michigan sign-stealing operation was first reported two weeks ago by Yahoo! and has steadily grown in scope. The investigation has centered on Connor Stalions, a long-time staffer within the football program. Stalions is found to have bought tickets to 35 games at 17 venues over the last three years. This includes 12 Big 10 schools. While in attendance, Stalions is believed to have recorded the sidelines in order to capture footage of a team’s play-calling signs. While sign-stealing is not prohibited, in-person scouting of future opponents and sign-stealing via electronic means is banned under NCAA rules. Stalions is currently on paid suspension from his position.

Furthermore, a former Division III coach has claimed that Stalions paid him to record footage at least one game involving a future Michigan opponent. While most of Michigan’s coaching staff has denied knowledge of the sign-stealing operation, the school said that it is cooperating with the Big Ten and NCAA in their investigations. Michigan are currently 8-0 and lead the Big Ten East. Their season will likely be decided with a matchup against Ohio State in the regular season finale.

Angel Reese And LSU Stars Name Their All-Time Basketball Starting Lineups

Angel Reese and several of her LSU teammates recent namely their all-time basketball starting lineups. Reese kicked things off with a twist. “I’m starting strong with Lisa Leslie,” Reese said before filling her lineup out with Cheryl Miller, Kobe, Shaq, and most surprisingly, LSU head coach Kim Mulkey. Mulkey was a national championship winning point guard with LA Tech in the early 80s. Sophomore Flau’jae Johnson also named Mulkey to her lineup and also agreed with Reese on Shaq. However, Johnson also picked Dwyane Wade, Tim Duncan and Allen Iverson.

Meanwhile, new transfer Hailey Van Lith went in a different direction entirely. After naming Kobe and the aforementioned Lisa Leslie, Van Lith also selected Becky Hammon, Kevin Garnett, and Micheal Jordan. “That’s a tough starting five, right there. Mad tough,” Van Lith said of her team. The question came about as apart of an interview the players did ahead of the Hall of Fame Series, the traditional marquee event to open the college basketball season. The basketball season kicks off next week.

LSU Betting Favorites For Title

Meanwhile, oddsmakers have revealed the Tigers as their title favorites ahead of the start of the women’s basketball season next week. The Tigers are +230 favorites on FanDuel and +300 favorites on DraftKings. Just behind LSU is UConn at +500 and +600 on the two sites respectively. Furthermore, LSU and UConn are #1 and #2 in both the AP‘s preseason poll and ESPN‘s preseason bracketology. LSU opens the season against #20 Colorado in Las Vegas next week.

The Tigers are also seeking to become the first team since the UConn four-peat to repeat as National Champions. To maximize their chances, head coach Kim Mulkey built a superteam from recruiting and the portal. She has two top-7 freshmen and added Aneesah Morrow from DePaul and Hailey van Lith from Louisville. These additions are a huge reason for the preseason hype surrounding LSU. However, experts have also noted that if the lineup fails to be cohesive, it may spell disaster for the team.

Rich Paul reportedly defended Anthony Davis after the Lakers star came under some harsh criticism from Cam’ron. “Shout-out to my man Rich Paul. However, it appears that if they were home, they certainly weren’t looking to garner any attention.

Meanwhile, Kelce’s personal stylist has addressed claims that Kelce’s recent outfits were “inspired” by new beau Taylor Swift. “They are playful, polished and cozy, which Travis always does so well. The infamous moment occurred during Game 3 of the matchup against the Mavericks, with the series tied at 1-1. “I knew our relationship. However, it’s not the first time that people have noted the impact Wade had on LeBron’s career. Stephen A. Smith made a very similar claim a few months ago. “LeBron James, one could easily argue, wouldn’t even know what it’s like to be a champion had it not been for Dwyane Wade. Somebody needs to say it, so I’m going to say it,” Smith said. Smith’s argument is based on the notion that LeBron didn’t win his first championship until he linked with Wade in Miami. Of course, LeBron has won two other titles. He earned one with the Cavs in 2016 and another with the Lakers in 2020. However, Smith later clarified that LeBron remains his #2 all-time NBA player behind MJ.

In short, Smith’s argument is muddled at best. He’s not saying Wade is a better player than James, although that’s definitely what it sounds like upon first hearing it. Instead, Smith is trying to make a very labored point about LeBron finally getting the support he needed to win a championship. Honestly, the most surprising thing about this take is how pedestrian it is. Yes, Wade helped LeBron get over the championship hump. However, was that not the point of “The Decision”? Wasn’t all of this by design to get LeBron a championship-caliber supporting cast?

Texas Rangers Win First World Series In Franchise History

The Texas Rangers are World Series champions after a 5-0 Game 5 shutout against the Arizona Diamondbacks. A pitching gem from Nathan Eovaldi and some clutch top-of-the-order hitting helped make history for the 62-year-old franchise. Shortstop Corey Seager was named World Series MVP, becoming just the second position player after Reggie Jackson to win the award multiple times. Seager was previously named World Series MVP with the Dodgers in 2020. Furthermore, Game 5 came exactly 13 years after the Rangers lost the 2010 World Series to the Giants. In a twist of fate, then-Giants manager Bruce Bochy was the one to lead the Rangers to this year’s title.

Beyond a 9-1 drubbing in Game 2, the Rangers were in firm control of the World Series from start to finish. Arizona was never able to find a consistent answer to the Rangers, especially the team’s penchant for late-inning heroics. Furthermore, the Rangers were unstoppable on the road throughout the playoffs. They went a perfect 11-0 away from Globe Life Field.

With the Rangers’ win, just five MLB teams remain without a World Series title. The Rockies, Brewers, Mariners, Padres, and Rays are all without a Fall Classic trophy. Furthermore, the Mariners remain the only team in the league without a World Series appearance. However, with the World Series decided, the league turns to an equally historic offseason. Francis Ngannou Wants To Prioritize Tyson Fury Rematch

Francis Ngannou has confirmed that he will not appeal the result of his fight against Tyson Fury and will instead push for a rematch as soon as possible. “The rematch is what I want next the most. As for right now I feel like there is a lot of options for me, but I want to choose wisely, and I would go for the rematch first,” Ngannou told TMZ. Ngannou defied the odds to earn a split decision loss to Fury in their fight last weekend. Even Fury gave the former MMA fighter props. “He’s given me probably one of my toughest fights in the last 10 years. He’s a good boxer, He’s a lot better than I thought he’d be and he gave me a good fight,” Fury said after the bout.

Despite Fury having just set a date next February for his historic unification bout against Oleksandr Uysk, Ngannou wants his rematch first. “My best scenario in boxing is to wait for Fury. If Usyk can step out and let me fight Fury, I’ll fight Fury, then I’ll let them do whatever they do. I’ll go back, maybe do some MMA fight and come back with some people in boxing,” Ngannou explained.

Ngannou Not Appealing Fight Result

Furthermore, Ngannou shot down any notion that he would be appealing the fight result. “Who am I gonna appeal to? [The British Boxing Commission]? I have no chance. I think that’s just another way of humiliation,” Ngannou argued. Instead, as mentioned, he wants to rectify the loss with a rematch win. However, Fury is yet to comment on Ngannou’s challenge.

One boxer who is filing an appeal, however, is Dillon Danis. Last month, the MMA fighter officially appealed the result of his boxing match against Logan Paul. It’s unclear exactly what Danis is appealing, given he clearly met the threshold for a disqualification given his attempted illegal grab on Paul in the dying seconds of the fight. Furthermore, given how thoroughly Paul was beating Danis at the time of the DQ, it’s likely that the fight would be ruled a unanimous decision win for Paul. Additionally, Paul responded to the announcement, calling it “embarrassing and desperate”.

Dwight Howard Steps Out For Halloween Amidst Allegations

Dwight Howard remains publicly unconcerned about the sexual assault allegations against him. Howard appeared at a Halloween function this week, dressed as Sho’Nuff from The Last Dragon. “Why they mad cause God chose me ? 🫨,” Howard captioned the image on Instagram. However, the image, especially when reposted by outlets such as The Neighborhood Talk, was widely met with mockery. “I think they hate you because you allegedly sexually assaulted someone,” one person argued. Despite this, many of the comments on Howard’s original post were ones of support for the former NBA star.

Howard has been accused of sexually assaulting a man at his home. Howard has formally denied sexually assaulting model Stephen Harper. However, he did not deny inviting Harper to his home for a threesome, which allegedly involved a cross-dresser named Kitty. Furthermore, Harper alleges that he was forced to perform sexual acts on Howard and that Howard performed non-consensual acts on him after he objected to participating in the account. Howard has been sued by Harper but has not been formally charged with a crime.
