Elena Delle Donne has launched the first-ever wine brand owned by a WNBA player. Deldon Wine’s first offering is a 2021 Delaware Pinot Noir. The brand also benefits local charities in Delaware, where Delle Donne is from, and played college ball. Delle Donne, a #1 recruit out of high school, famously left UConn after just a few weeks. A year later, she returned to college basketball, this time at Delaware, and became a star who would go No. 1 in the WNBA draft.

“Launching Deldon Wines is a dream come true for me because it ticks so many boxes in terms of my values. I knew my next project would be a wine brand because wine has always been part of my connection with my family. And anyone who knows my story knows how much family means to me. Putting up a career-low in points per game and her worst rebounding rate since her sophomore season, Delle Donne is beginning to adopt a facilitator role as she looks ahead to her 35th birthday. The Mystics are ushering in a promising young class of players but Delle Donne’s veteran leadership remains vital.

Washington finished fourth in the Eastern Conference, but was ousted from the playoffs in a two-game sweep. They will hope to have rising star Shakira Austin back in time for the 2024 season. Austin recently underwent surgery for a torn labrum in her hip. However, the team has settled into a mid-table outfit after some breakout years earlier in the 2020s. Bronny James USC Debut Gets Encouraging Update From Head Coach

The USC debut of Bronny James is coming very soon, according to Trojans head coach Andy Enfield. “Bronny has not been cleared fully yet from USC. He can participate without contact. He’s done a good job of getting his conditioning and his strength back and I think he’s on the path to being ready to play very quickly. “We hope to get Bronny on the court as soon as possible. The heart specialist, the doctors at USC, those are people that have to give the approval [to clear James for full-contact practice] and I know they’re working diligently on the whole process. I commend them for all they’ve done as part of this,” Enfield told ESPN.

Furthermore, he had high praise for Bronny himself. “Everybody’s excited to see Bronny on the court. The fans, teammates, everybody around our program and university. Bronny’s done a great job of mentally and physically getting back to this point and I think he’s very anxious to get back full-time playing. We’re excited to watch him play,” Enfield added. USC are 5-3, having dropped two of their last three games after starting 4-1.

Amid their various prestigious year-end awards, TIME has named Lionel Messi their Athlete of the Year. He became the first non-American recipient since the award was created in 2019. Messi was lauded for a phenomenal 2023, which included playing in two separate club seasons without a break. Of course, that all began after Messi made the shock decision to spurn Saudi Arabia and leave PSG for Inter Miami and the MLS. He got off to an explosive start with Inter Miami, scoring 10 goals in 7 games across the inaugural Leagues Cup. However, Messi would substantially cool off, only make another seven appearances across the second half of the MLS season.

Furthermore, Messi’s time in America came after he played a full season with PSG. Messi had 20 goals in 35 games for PSG in a season that saw the French giants secure yet another domestic title. However, the rarity of a player who essentially spent the whole year playing soccer without a break makes Messi unmatched. 2024 will see Messi’s first full campaign in the MLS, as well as a South American homecoming in the Copa America.

Sergio Brown Pleads Not Guilty To Murdering His Mother

Ex-NFL player Sergio Brown has entered a not-guilty plea on the charge of murdering his mother, Myrtle. Brown reportedly entered his plea earlier on Wednesday while remanded in custody at a jail in Illinois. He will be due back in court later this month. Brown and his mother were reported missing in September, only for his mother’s body to be discovered beside a creek near their Illinois home. Brown remained missing for a few days until he began posting concerning videos from Mexico. He was eventually detained in Mexico and extradited to the United States.

Brown was a starting safety for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish but went undrafted in 2010. However, he was later signed by the Patriots and would play nearly 100 games over the next seven seasons, although he would only ever start 15 games. He retired in 2016 following a brief stint with the Bills. Finishing his career with 144 tackles, Brown also played for the Colts and Jags. His time with the Bills came after a training camp with the Falcons.

Meanwhile, another Bills player is facing his own legal issues. Von Miller was arrested last week after allegedly assaulting his pregnant girlfriend. However, the arrest will not immediately affect Miller’s status with the Bills. “We weren’t there. We’re not the investigators. We don’t, obviously, you know, we had our conversations with Von and understood what he believes happened. And so, from that standpoint we can’t get into it. It’s an open investigation, and so we’ll just, we’ll let the legal process play out, and he’ll participate like normal in practice,” GM Brandon Beane told reporters.

“Anytime it’s an ongoing investigation, if something was uncovered that the commissioner does have that, at any point, if he feels there was something that, hey, this is, this doesn’t look good or something like that, if at any point that, they could. But with our knowledge of what we have today, we don’t expect that,” Beane added in regards to the possibility of Miller being added to the Commissioner’s Exempt List.

Indigenous Lacrosse Bid For 2028 Olympics Gets White House Support

The White House has voiced its support for a campaign to include the indigenous inventors of lacrosse at the sports’ Olympic debut in 2028. “We’re hopeful the IOC will see it our way as well. If we’re successful, it won’t simply be the flag of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy that marches in the Olympics, it will be the flag of Indigenous people across the world,” White House senior adviser and director of intergovernmental affairs Tom Perez told the AP. The Haudenosaunee are credited with inventing the sport of lacrosse around the year 1100. The Confederacy is based in upstate New York and adjacent territories in Canada.

Furthermore, the Haudenosaunee has competed in international lacrosse events as an independent team since 1990. However, the Olympics have long held firm in their notion that athletes must represent an existing Olympic Committee. When lacrosse was announced as a sport for the 2028 games in LA, the IOC suggested that the US and Canada find a way to include the Haudenosaunee in their respective national teams. Representatives of the Haudenosaunee, who led the campaign for lacrosse’s inclusion in the Olympics, have been adamant that they be allowed to represent themselves. Now they have a significant backer in the President himself.

Alabama QB Enters The Lacrosse Transfer Portal

However, lacrosse has been making a lot of headlines at the collegiate level as well. Tyler Buchner, the second-string quarterback at Alabama, has announced he has entered the transfer portal. However, he has entered the portal as a lacrosse player, not a football player. Buchner was one of the top lacrosse recruits coming out of high school. Despite this, he eventually committed to play football under Brian Kelly at Notre Dame. He was never able to capture the QB1 slot with the Fighting Irish, nor with the Crimson Tide after transferring in 2023.

While he has not confirmed that he is entirely turning his back on football, reports from ESPN suggest that he is primarily looking at his lacrosse options for the spring. Ironically, Notre Dame, Buchner’s original school, captured their first-ever men’s lacrosse title during the 2023 season. At this time, it is too early to determine if there are any lacrosse frontrunners for Buchner’s services.

Kevin Durant has continued his trend of social media savagery by responding to a podcast clip of Moritz Wagner. In the clip from Pardon My Take, Wagner explains how he accidentally flamed Durant during his rookie year. After drawing a foul, Wagner fired off a dismissive “You can’t guard me”, only to realize that he had just said it to Durant. “I think it was Durant, Draymond Green, and DeMarcus Cousins on the free throw line boxout talking sh-t to me. I was so shaken,” Wagner explained. After the clip was published, Durant quote tweeted it, adding “I walked away from that game thinking, damn that rookie is an assh-le.”

Durant, who recently passed Moses Malone to become the NBA’s 10th all-time scorer, is absolutely cooking this season. He is currently averaging 31/6.5/5.7 a night at 35 years old. Meanwhile, Wagner, in his fourth year with the Magic, is putting 13/4.3/1.2. While he is nowhere near the star that his brother Franz is, Wagner is a solid rotational piece for the Magic. He had over 60% field shooting last season.

However, as mentioned, Durant has been on something of a roll in terms of his online content recently. Durant was savage in his response to a question about whether he would wear Anthony Edwards’ signature shoes. “Won’t EVER see me put a big toe in them Mfers,” Durant wrote on X, formerly Twitter. Even more brutal was the fact that Durant was responding to a video of Edwards himself saying that Durant was the player he most wanted to see wearing his signature shoe.

The comments largely supported Durant’s sharp sense of humor and unapologetic honesty. However, some people warned that Durant had best watch out as Edwards and the Timberwolves will “bake” Durant and the Suns. If that’s the case, those fans will be waiting a while. The Suns and Timberwolves don’t play again until April. Edwards is yet to respond to Durant’s comments. Durant recently posed for a photoshoot involving Drake‘s own signature shoe. The pair reportedly had a “great time” for around two hours before Wallen left, per TMZ. It’s unclear how the pair became acquainted.

Wallen’s dating life has been something of a mystery since he split from ex-fiancee Katie Smith. He had brief flings with Paige Lorenze and Megan Moroney. However, TMZ was unable to ascertain if his dinner with Canseco was anything serious or just two friends grabbing a meal. Wallen has a son, Indigo, with Smith. Ron DeSantis Threatens To Sue NCAA Over Florida State’s CFP Exclusion

Ron DeSantis has asked the Florida state legislature for $1 million in their new budget to sue the NCAA for excluding Florida State from the College Football Playoff. “My first-grader, my fifth-grader, and my preschooler – they are all Noles. They are big-time fans and they do the tomahawk chop and they were not happy. We are going to set aside $1 million and let the chips fall where they may,” DeSantis told the chamber. However, it’s largely a symbolic gesture. The college football season will be decided long before the budget is ratified.

The 13-0 Seminoles were excluded from the College Football Playoff, becoming the first undefeated Power 5 champion not to make the four-team playoff. 12-1 Alabama and 12-1 Texas, champions of the SEC and Big 12 respectively, made the playoff alongside undefeated Michigan and Washington. Head coach Mike Norvell said he was “disgusted” with the decision. However, the CFP committee pointed to the loss of both the Noles’ first- and second-string quarterbacks as their deciding factor.

DeSantis’ refocusing on Florida comes as his presidential hopes look more and more futile. According to polling data from FiveThirtyEight, DeSantis remains a distant second in Republican primaries. However, he is still nearly 50 points behind Donald Trump. Furthermore, Nikki Haley has been steadily gaining on DeSantis. If current trends continue, DeSantis may fall into third place in the run-up to the Iowa Caucus.

Furthermore, DeSantis cannot run for governor again in 2026 due to term limits. However, it’s clear that the firebrand politician is eager to see out his term overseeing the GOP EPCOT that he has turned the state into. Much like how Walt Disney, the founder of DeSantis’ biggest foe, created EPCOT as a vision of a “model future”, DeSantis has attempted to turn Florida into a vision of a GOP future on the state level. Sweeping control over education an healthcare access has DeSantis showcasing what a GOP supermajority can achieve. However, it is becoming more and more unlikely that he will be able to project that vision onto the national stage.

Zach Wilson Named Jets Starter Despite Locker Room Leaks

However, the choice to reinstate Wilson as starter comes amidst speculation about the young QB’s mindset. A recent report by The Athletic revealed that Wilson was reportedly “reluctant” to play late-season games if the Jets weren’t still in the playoff hunt. While the 4-8 Jets can mathematically qualify, their window is quickly closing. They have lost their last five games and have been consistently unable to find the endzone in that stretch.

In naming Wilson starter, as opposed to Trevor Siemian or Brett Rypien, Salah avoided having the Jets become the first Jets team since 1989 to start four quarterbacks. However, given how dire the situation is for the Jets, Wilson will likely be given a short lease. The Texans are surging, having won four of their last five games. Sunday is an absolute must-win game for New York.

Aaron Rodgers Still Considering Return For Jets

Meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers is still optimistic that he can return this season. The veteran QB recently argued that he could return earlier than Christmas Eve if his recovery continues to go well. “Anything is possible. It feels great to be on the practice field, but I’m not anywhere near ready to play,” Rodgers told reporters last week. The veteran QB was cleared for limited practice last Wednesday, giving the Jets 21 days to activate him from injured reserve. This week could see Rodgers practicing on back-to-back days if he feels capable of doing so.

However, Rodgers reiterated that his return depends on whether the Jets can still make the playoffs. “I don’t think that would make a ton of sense. A comeback this year before the four-month mark would mean I’m not 100 percent healthy, so it’d be a risk for myself. For the team to sign off on if we’re out of it, I’d be surprised if they would OK that to come back,” Rodgers noted. Per ESPN, the 4-8 Jets have a less than 1% chance to make the playoffs.

Miller surrendered to police last Thursday after a warrant for his arrest was issued the day prior. Per TMZ, Miller was booked around 4pm Central on Thursday and released on bond soon after. According to ESPN, Miller’s bond was set at $5000. He had been wanted by police in Texas since late morning Wednesday. The wannt came after they responded to a “major disturbance call” concerning Miller and his pregnant partner. According to an affidavit, an argument about Miller’s partner’s travel plans had allegedly turned violent. Miller allegedly shoved her, pulled her hair, and placed his hands around her neck on two separate occasions.

Miller was previously investigated on similar accusations in Colorado in 2021. However, that inquiry did not lead to any sort of formal police intervention. However, the report of his assault by his alleged victim paints a disturbing picture. According to the alleged victim, Miller had demanded that she leave their shared apartment as a result of their argument. However, she claims that as she tried to collect her things, Miller repeatedly assaulted her and smashed her laptop. Miller, who signed a six-year deal with the Buffalo in 2022, continues to play limited snap counts as he rehabs from an ACL tear. Across eight games this season, Miller has recorded two total tackles.
