Loe Shimmy & Wizz Havinn Rep Florida ON “Zuper”

With the Florida rap scene being ran by acts like Kodak Black, Denzel Curry, and the late great XXXTENTACION, some of the new kids in the block want a turn. Loe Shimmy and Wizz Havinn are two of those names looking to make an impact with songs like “Zuper.” This one of a handful of collaborations from these East Coast natives and it is their second already this year. Their last effort was “4AM at Coffee Zone” with features from other FL rising stars Luh Tyler, BossMan Dlow, and C Stunna.

Individually speaking, each rapper has been active this year. Loe Shimmy is coming off two singles, “Miami” and “Dirty Soda Junkie” with Veeze, as well as a new album Zombieland 2. In the case of the Tallahassee resident, Wizz Havinn has dropped off several songs as well, with a couple of them getting remixed with DJ Ess. On “Zuper,” Loe and Wizz are making sure to put on for their hometown with their cadences and instrumental choice.

Loe is known for his extremely nonchalant and sleepy delivery, whereas Wizz raps with slightly more energy and fervor. Vayda Drops Club-Ready Single “Baby Baby”

Vayda, a rising rapper, singer and producer from Atlanta Georgia has been releasing singles and projects for about three years. While she has not exactly broken through into stardom, she definitely presents a compelling case that she can be one of the next femcees to make it big. “Baby Baby” is the latest offering from Vayda and it follows up on four tracks released in 2024. This is her first solo record, as the previous ones all included a feature. In terms of projects, she is superseding fever, a collaborative effort with ATTNWH0RE. For Vayda, one thing she has going for her is her family’s background in music. In an interview with No Bells, she spoke about how her dad, who was in a rap group, helped guide her career trajectory early on.

Vayda mentioned how the piano was one of her earliest obsessions in life growing up and how her passion for it grew over time. “Piano my first love… I got an actual keyboard for my birthday. That set it off. I just was always learning new songs,” she said. “I was just playing by ear. My dad would always play music, so I would just pick out certain notes, pick out certain stuff, and just figure it out. And if I couldn’t figure it out, go on YouTube, you know?”

Sheff G Drops His First Song After Posting Bail Called “Everything Lit”

Late last month, New York drill specialist Sheff G was in prison for a gun possession case, as well as an indictment. However, after about a year behind bars, the 25-year-old Brooklynite was released after posting a bail of $1.5 million. He took the time to rejoice his freedom in an animated Instagram post. “BAIL PAID SAME DAY ARE YOU DUMB, SHEFF G BACK NEW YORK. WE F***ING LITTTTT THEY COUNTED ME OUT!! THEY THOUGHT I WAS DONE, PEACE AND LOVE TO YALL LOL. ( WINNERSCIRCLE IM W THE STARS BABY. YOU CAN COME AND EAT W US YOU AINT GOTTA STARVEE BABYYYYYYY #FREETHEGUYZ #BAILOUTBOYZZZZZ.”

On top of being a free man, Sheff G was also already getting ready to drop new music. In a separate IG post, the “Weight On Me” MC shared a little teaser of a new song he was working on. “NY WE BACK EVERYTHING LITT. EVERYTHING LITT DROPPING SOON ALL NEW HEAT COMING SOOONN I PROMISE.”

That report came out on April 22, and now on May 15, we have the new Sheff G track “Everything Lit.” He raps in his husky cadence on the chorus about being back and you can tell he is indeed “lit.” “Yeah, your boy back, everything lit / Yeah, it’s lit.” Overall, this is just something to bring some more hype around his release, as he raps over a familiar woozy and dark drill beat about women and money. Chief Keef & Sexyy Red’s “Grape Trees” Proves They Need To Drop A Collab Album

There is a plethora of entertaining duos in hip-hop today. Of course, you have Metro Boomin and his vast roster of frequent collaborators like Future, Travis Scott, and 21 Savage. Once upon a time you had Kanye West and Jay-Z. The number is large, and it is only growing by the day. One of the newer forces we have seen develop is Chief Keef and Sexyy Red.

Chief Keef recently dropped his mixtape Almighty So 2, and its track “Grape Trees” is now the latest installment between these two respective stars. This cut most recently follows up on “DAMN SHORTY,” which appeared on the Mike WiLL Made-It produced tape DIRTY NACHOS. Going back a little further, Keef and Sexyy came together for a remix of sorts on “Bow Bow Bow (F My Baby Mama).” That landed on the deluxe of Red’s standout tape Hood Hottest Princess.

Like all of their offerings together, “Grape Trees” gives off a rage-inducing atmosphere. Keef brings a shouty flow over his self-produced beat, which slaps by the way. The horns, mixed with the rapid fire drums that sound like gunshots, are ridiculous in the best way. Red delivers her familiar bars of women hating on her, flexing Hellcats and her promiscuity, all while being nonchalant about it. In a mixtape filled with bangers, this one ranks high on the list.

Chance The Rapper & DJ Premier Reminisce On New Single “Together”

Chance the Rapper is on the comeback trail. He wisely stepped away from music following the horrible reception to The Big Day, but he’s back and he appears reenergized. There’s an emphasis on lyricism and musicality that was really lacking on his studio debut, and fans are hopeful he can get back to his Acid Rap prime. “Buried Alive” was the first teaser we heard, but now Chano has dropped off an official music video for his new single “Together.”

For starters, the production is much better than whatever was happening on The Big Day. Chance got a classic DJ Premier beat, complete with soulful vocal chops and stuttering piano keys. It evokes the same kind of nostalgia that Chance harnessed so effectively on the aforementioned Acip Rap. That being said, it does mark a distinct musical change.

Gone are the bombastic horns and gospel breakdowns, and in its place is something quieter and more contemplative. It’s the sort of beat Common would have rapped on circa Like Water for Chocolate. The comparison feels especially apt, given that Com was another Chicago legend who worked with Preemo.

“Together” also thrives on Chano’s improved pen game. The rapper dropped the preachiness that soured millions of fans and strips it down, focusing on his life as a child. “If you keep the house in the family, you can keep the family in the house,” he raps. “We used to watch ‘Annie, are you okay’ on the couch. My cousin used to slam me til I punched him in the mouth.” The video is perfectly suited to the material, as it’s made up of old video footage cobbled together from family parties.

Chance the Rapper isn’t breaking the mold with this song, but he’s proving that he’s back to making good music again, and that’s ultimately more important.

Sukihana has also not been committed to anyone for about two years. So, with the two on the dating market and their recent hang outs well documented, there is a chance that they could be a pair. These rumors have also been discussed frequently because of a project they are working on. Ray J and Suki are developing a Tronix Music short film titled Hangover 69.

To help promote it, the duo also hinted a track accompanying it called “THROWING STACKS.” Well, that offering is now here, and it is raunchy, if that was not going to be obvious already. Anything Sukihana hops on is almost always going to be something vulgar and that is the case here. “THROWING STACKS” is a certified stripper’s anthem, especially with thumping bass, finger snaps, and spacey atmosphere.

Sukihana raps in great detail about her usual topics, but in a softer tone with loads of auto-tune. While it is not as memorable or unhinged, it does fit the vibe of the song. Bobby Shmurda Works With Newcomer Eli For R&B Cut “On Something”

There were so many people on the Bobby Shmurda hype train back in the mid 2010s. A great deal of hip-hop fans were infatuated with arguably his two best tracks “Hot N****” and “Bobby B****.” However, all of that excitement for the Miami, Florida native went out the window in a hurry after his infamous prison sentence. He was handcuffed for weapons and conspiracy charges for the longest seven years and his return was a bright spot for the genre in 2021. Since being reinstated into society, the 29-year-old rapper has released two full-length projects and a bevy of singles. However, he has not been able to recapture that magic for about 10 years now.

It is clear that Bobby Shmurda is still struggling with songs like “On Something” coming down the pipeline. This is his fifth feature of the year, as he joins a new face to the R&B space, who goes by Eli. In fact, this is the latter’s first-ever release on streaming platforms. It is evident as well because this is perhaps one of the most forgettable songs we have heard all year.

Eli has a painfully boring and generic auto-tuned singing voice that sounds outdated. It is especially unbearable when he goes into his upper register. As for Bobby, his flow is equally boring and sleepy. Unfortunately, there are just no redeeming qualities to this track.
