Saba Brings Some Incredible Lyricism On No I.D.-Produced “Head.rap”

Saba has firmly established himself as an excellent writer and storyteller over the course of his career. The veteran from Chicago, Illinois has always impressed fans in that regard and its why he has stood the test of time. Even though he only has three projects to his name, the level of craftsmanship that has gone into each one is nothing short of astounding. Pretty soon, Saba will be dropping his fourth record and to promote it, he is back with a new single “head.rap.”

This is now the third teaser for his and legendary Chicago producer No I.D.’s album From The Private Collection of Saba & No I.D. The experienced duo first began hinting at the tape’s development back in April of last year with “Back In Office.” Then, just about two months later, they returned with “hue_man nature.” Fans are still eagerly awaiting a release date, but it seems we are inching closer and closer with “head.rap” out now.

The Chainsmokers Team Up With Fridayy For EDM/R&B Crossover “Friday”

The Chainsmokers are one of the most recognized musical artists in the world. Their pop appeal has garnered them tons of radio play and smash singles. Because of that they have been able to work with some of the industries brightest stars like Halsey, Coldplay, Florida Georgia Line, Jhene Aiko, and so many others. Now, they are gearing up for a new album once more. To tease it, The Chainsmokers are working with R&B/soul singer Fridayy for the first time on a new single called “Friday.”

The coincidentally titled track is rumored to be the second promotional song for their sixth project, and first since 2022’s Summertime Friends. However, this will not be an album, rather an EP, and is expected to see a May 10 release, according to Genius. The previous song that is looking to make its way onto the tracklist is “Addicted” featuring Zerb and Ink. On “Friday,” The Chainsmokers produce a mixture of R&B and EDM, something that is not totally new to them.

The beat gallops throughout and it has all the elements of a track that would be great for a late-night drive with the roof down. Fridayy gives a soulful performance, as he sings about a relationship with a woman that feels as if they are moving through life together without a care in the world. He is essentially comparing it to the weekend, and how those days are the week where you do anything and everything you want, that you cannot doing during the weekdays. Its your typical Chainsmokers fair, but with some great singing to go along with it.

KayCyy, Toro Y Moi, & Weiland Are Emotionally Spent On “Hidden Faces”

KayCyy is one of the most exciting names in hip-hop and R&B right now in our opinion. He has so much potential to be one of the best hybrid stars once he eventually drops his rumored projects. According to Genius, the Kenya native has two offerings stashed away at the moment. There are a lot of rumors that he will have both out by this year, after previously teasing 2023 drop dates. It seems we inching closer and closer to the promised land after KayCyy recently put out “Hidden Faces.”

This single is currently only available on YouTube and follows up other tracks such as “My Jeans,” “MOTOWN” with BabyTron. For “Hidden Faces,” KayCyy taps Toro y Moi and Weiland for a somber ballad about falling out of love and feeling emotionally and physically alone. Each singer’s vocals are backed by piano keys and minimal angelic production overall. You can tell by the way KayCyy, Toro, and Weiland are delivering their lyrics that they are in true pain.

As we mentioned earlier, the “THANK GOD” contributor has two projects in the works, and Never Been So Sure looks to be his debut album. Then, the other offering, WHO IS KAYCYY? might be even more stacked with hopeful appearances from Westside Gunn, VIC MENSA, A$AP Rocky, and Kanye West. Erica Banks has been putting on a clinic over the last few months, especially on YouTube. The DeSoto, Texas rapper and performer has been releasing raunchy and wild singles with accompanying twerk-filled music videos. Most of them have been renditions of previous hit rap songs from the likes of Gucci Mane and Nicki Minaj. While there might be a lot of viewers due to the content of the visuals, Erica has sneakily proven that she has a style that is separating herself from the crowded pack of femcees. Over the weekend, Erica Banks dropped off another track on the platform called “I Ain’t Fresh” and it is going quite viral.

One of the main reasons why is because of the song’s title and music video. If you love keeping up with internet culture and memes, you will recognize a man wearing a striped baby blue Ralph Lauren polo shirt, blue jeans, and baby blue New Balance 574s. Your eyes are not deceiving you either, that is indeed the “I Ain’t Fresh” man from the viral video that swept across all of social media. The original video was recorded by a couple of women outside of a Texas Whataburger. They ruthlessly roasted his fit, but now he is a star in the making.

His name is Derrick Lambert, and he calls Arkansas home. Erica is definitely smart for this move because the video and song is still trending on YouTube. At the time of writing, it sits at number 42 with over 91,000 views. Throughout the hilarious video, Erica is twerking all over Derrick and it looks he is having an absolute ball. As for the song itself, she is rapping with tons of charisma, toxicity, and with a contagious nonchalance. G-Eazy has been ramping up the production in 2024 with a couple of loosies on YouTube, as well as singles on streaming. The California artist has not always been viewed in a positive light for his “corny” raps. Listeners were especially calling him out just about two and a half weeks ago for his recent offering “Femme Fatale.” The nearly NSFW track featuring Coi Leray and Kaliii was highly criticized for feeling outdated and the performances being underwhelming. But G-Eazy might be winning some of those haters back with a newly released single “The Road Back.”

If the title suggests anything it is that Eazy is looking to get back into his bag and deliver some heat. That is exactly what “The Road Back” is, as Young Gerald is essentially reintroducing himself to the audience. He gets pretty lyrical on this record, and it goes over well, as he raps with a lot of charisma and hunger. However, this track is not easy to track down unfortunately.

Tems Recreates An Afro-beat Classic With “Love Me JeJe”

Tems has grown into her own ever since hip-hop fans discovered her on Future and Drake’s 2022 collaboration “WAIT FOR U.” It went on to become one of Hendrix’s most popular songs on Spotify for quite some time. The R&B jam even peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, scoring her first chart-topper. Fairly soon now, she will be looking to carry all of that momentum onto her debut album. Tems is showing she is ready to take that next leap with one of the project’s singles, “Love Me JeJe.”

Just over a week ago, the Nigerian singer and songwriter teased BORN IN THE WILD on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “BORN IN THE WILD. The Album. May 2024.” Since then, she has not announced the exact release date, but hopefully it will hit streaming services within the first two weeks of the month. We also do not have a confirmed tracklist either, according to Genius.

Those include “Me & U,” “Not An Angel,” and the unreleased title track. “Love Me JeJe” is actually a recreation of an Afro-beat record from the late 90s by Seyi Sodimu. Both songs are stunning and it is hard to pick which we love more.

Coi Leray gets a lot of hate overall in the music industry. Many feel she does not deserve to be a star, or they feel she just lacks talent. The Boston, Massachusetts rapper and singer hinted at this song dropping yesterday with sudsy thirst trap on Instagram. “No filter. New music @ midnight ,” she wrote to her followers. “Can’t Come Back” sees Coi take on a more subdued delivery as she sings with resentment. That hatred stems from past love interests wasting her time.

But Normani still has people ready for what she can do on her own with its lead single “1:59” featuring Gunna.

Her supporters might also be thrilled to know that Genius has Dopamine listed for a June 14 release date. That appears to be the confirmed date as well, as Normani has “DOPAMINE THE ALBUM JUNE 14” in her Instagram bio. “1:59” sees the Georgia natives serenade each other, with Gunna even taking on an auto tuned singing and rapping flow. It does not sound too off-putting for those who had doubts about how he would fit on a slow-mo R&B cut.

Normani and Gunna are so infatuated with one another, that even when they are not together, they are always wanting to reunite for an intimate time. Instrumentally, it is nothing that is reinventing the wheel, with its guitar loops and minimal production overall. But it does sound pleasing to the ears vocally and beat wise.
