Jerrod Carmichael Race Play Joke Reactions Prove Social Media Isn’t Feeling Him Right Now

Many of today’s most popular comedians have relied on shock to sell tickets at one point or another. That’s exactly the era Jerrod Carmichael seems to be in this year. The filmmaker/entertainer debuted a new show on HBO earlier this spring, and the first episode quickly went viral thanks to an appearance from Tyler, The Creator. In that video, the rapper’s friend recalls admitting his feelings for the Flower Boy artist, sharing that a lack of reaction from Tyler left Carmichael in his feelings. Rather than comfort his friend, the former laughed in his face while reflecting on labelling him a “stupid b**ch” instead of addressing the emotion between them.

Now, the 37-year-old is trending online again after more controversy on his reality series. Earlier this week, Carmichael spoke about being in an interracial relationship. Apparently, he finds race play to be a fun way to connect with his partner. “I sometimes joke with him that our relationship is like that of a slave and the master’s son,” the North Carolina native told his uncomfortable audience.

Jerrod Carmichael’s HBO Reality Show Raises Eyebrows

Not only were those watching in person unsure what to think of Carmichael’s words, but the online community is also ripping him to shreds. “I don’t like Jerrod Carmichael simply because I can’t stand a Black person that acts like they don’t know how to read the room,” an upset viewer expressed. “We too skilled at that as a people to be playing into that kind of bulls**t. NEXT CALLER!”

Social Media Reactions to Race Play “Joke” Pour In

“Jerrod Carmichael is a self-hating narcissist. He hated how Tyler didn’t validate his feelings and joked about it, [then] goes and [does] the same thing to his boyfriend???” one user on Twitter/X observed. “HBO can’t give us season 2 of ‘Watchmen’ and ‘Lovecraft Country’ because some White folks were uncomfortable,” another person pointed out. “Instead they give us JERROD CARMICHAEL admitting he likes playing a slave and sucking on White toes.” Read more social media reactions to the “joke” below, and check back in with HNHH later for more music/pop culture news updates.

Lil Baby Flexes Blood Diamond Earrings, Social Media Slams Him For “Contributing To Child Slavery”

In the age of social media, most rappers would certainly agree that your image is just as important as the music you’re putting out. Most of the names at the top of the charts are often lyricizing about their luxurious lifestyles. Concurrently, it only makes sense that they share some of that lavishnesses online from time to time. Most recently, Lil Baby reminded the world that, rather than having his jewellery made by human hands, it comes from the controversial African mines where countless children partake in slavery on a regular basis.

Monday (March 20) saw the father of two flexing his flashy, larger-than-life earrings on his Instagram Story. “These ain’t lab diamonds,” he assured viewers, setting himself apart from the rest. “My shit out the mud, these real stones 💎💎.” As he continued recording, Baby showed off more of his expensive outfit. He completed his look with Nike’s new Air Force 1 Low “Tiffany” colourway on his feet, and more silver accessories on his wrist and neck.

Lil Baby’s Earrings are Fresh “Out The Mud”

While some were inspired by Baby’s major flex, others in DJ Akademiks’ comment section made it known that the My Turn hitmaker’s video left them feeling disappointed. “A five-year-old without an arm in Sierra Leone is digging it up,” one person speculated. “Basically he got taxed for child labour diamonds. Ain’t nothing wrong with lab [made],” someone else pointed out. The general public is obviously unimpressed. However, another rap star – Lil Yachty – left a seemingly positive message about his friend’s foreign gems. “On God!!!” the former SoundCloud star wrote.

Elsewhere in the replies, another IG user explained the difference between Lil Baby’s diamonds and those which are made by humans. “One is found in nature and the other one is made in a lab. But both are real,” they shared. “The beef starts with the jewelry industry because lab diamonds cut the middle man and the process is cheaper and faster to make, that’s why the jewellery industry throws so much negative shade at it.” Are you a fan of the 28-year-old’s earrings? Benedict Cumberbatch & His Family May Have To Pay For Their Ancestor’s Role In Slavery

Benedict Cumberbatch has previously acknowledged that part of his family’s past includes slave ownership.

It now appears as though the actor and his family may actually have to pay for their role in slavery.

According to a recent report from The Telegraph, the 46-year-old’s seventh great-grandfather is responsible for purchasing a plantation in 1728. The report alleges that the Cleland plantation was active for more than 100 years. Furthermore, it reportedly had 250 slaves on the property.

The sugar plantation is located in Barbados. The country is currently in the process of looking for reparations from families whose ancestors were slave owners. Evidently, this includes the Cumberbatch’s.

Slavery was abolished nearly 200 years ago, in the 1830s. The reason that the country is seeking these payments is because the families who are responsible for owning slaves were given large payments upon the abolition. “When the plantation was forced to close his family were given £6,000 in compensation – in today’s money that’s £3.6 million,” writes journalist Lorraine King in a tweet.

The Decision

Whether the Dr. Strange actor’s family will be responsible for paying up or not is still unknown. It will be up to a challenge that the country is currently awaiting in court. Barbados is asking Richard Dax, the inheritor of the country’s largest plantation, Drax Hall, to hand over his family’s land.

If he refuses to do so, an international arbitration court will decide whether or not the British Parliament member will be responsible for paying reparations. If it comes to this and the decision is yes, the country will reportedly move forward with seeking payments from other past slave owners. Of course, this will include the Cumberbatch family.
