Shannon Sharpe to Join ESPN’s ‘First Take’ for NFL Season

Shannon Sharpe Tearfully Says Goodbye to ‘Undisputed’ and Thanks Skip Bayless

Stephen A. Smith has a new debate partner. The NY Post reports former FS1 personality Shannon Sharpe will be headed to ESPN to take on Stephen A. on Mondays and Tuesdays during the NFL season. Sharpe comes over after ending his partnership with Smith’s former co-host Skip Bayless.

Sharpe is also expected to have a new home for his Club Shay Shay podcast. ESPN has not offered a comment.

At the end of the June 13 episode of Undisputed, Sharpe thanked all of the team members for FS1 and tearfully spoke highly of his time with Skip Bayless.

“Skip Bayless. You fought for me, brother. I’m here because of you. You’ve allowed me to share the stage with you. You’ve allowed me to share the platform. I’m going to cry in the car, but I’m not going to cry now. The opportunity that you gave me, to become what I became, I’m forever indebted to you. I’ll never forget what you did for me. You’ve helped me grow more than you’ll ever know. One more thing before you go, Skip. One more thing. All I ask, is when you lay your head of that pillow at night, know I gave you everything I had. I gave you everything I had.”

Skip Bayless Refuses To Work With This FS1 Analyst

Skip Bayless is easily one of the biggest names in the sports analyst world. Although he may not be respected by everyone, there is no doubt that he has made a large impact in his career. He has thoroughly pissed a lot of people off, however, that has never stopped him from doing his job. Overall, Bayless is best known for his time on First Take and Undisputed. It was on these shows that he showcased his anti-LeBron James agenda. The latter is set to return on August 28th after a brief hiatus caused by the departure of Shannon Sharpe.

Skip Bayless is now going to be working alongside Richard Sherman, which will make for fascinating television. Moreover, every single Friday, he will be sitting alongside Lil Wayne. The return of this show is bringing forth lots of anticipation, and there is no doubt that sparks are going to fly. However, a new report is showcasing just how much control Bayless wields over at FS1. According to Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports, there is at least one personality he had no interest in working with.

Skip Bayless Has Rules

That person is none other than Nick Wright of FS1’s First Thing’s First. While Wright has his haters, he is a pretty persuasive orator. In the report, it was revealed that Bayless feels threatened by Nick Wright and thinks the guy would wash him in a debate. “Skip doesn’t want to work with Nick Wright,” the source claims. “Skip doesn’t want to work with anybody who will make him look bad. And Nick would disembowel him on the air.”

This is a very interesting report and it speaks to the dynamics of FS1. However, Nick Wright and Chris Broussard are perfect right where they are, and there is no reason to mess with that winning formula. As for Undisputed, it should be interesting to see how the show progresses from here on out. Let us know what you think of this latest report, in the comments section below. “Undisputed” Reportedly Adds Ex-ESPN Host To New Lineup

Undisputed will return on August 28 to premiere its brand-new look. The show returns without Shannon Sharpe, who abruptly left the show in June. It’s believed that a growing rift with co-host Skip Bayless was the reason that Sharpe left. Since leaving, Sharpe has been linked with a move to ESPN, with Stephen A. Smith eager for him to join First Take. Sharpe’s next move is yet to be officially confirmed.

However, the future of Undisputed appeared much less certain. A number of rumored co-hosts for Bayless were floated but none of them seemed to come to fruition. Then Bayless dropped the news that Lil Wayne would be joining him for a weekly segment on Fridays. Bayless and Wayne have been friends for years but it also served as the first major piece of news for the post-Sharpe vision of the show. Now, we have another piece of the puzzle.

Rachel Nichols Joins Undisputed

According to the Sports Business Journal, former ESPN host Rachel Nichols will be joining Undisputed when the show returns later this month. Nichols has spent the last two years with Showtime after a leaked phone call ended her career at ESPN. In the leaked call, Nichols was heard complaining about the rise of Maria Taylor, who anchored the network’s NBA Finals coverage in 2020. Nichols did not apologize for her comments, instead placing the blame on ESPN. Regardless, she joins Wayne and former NFL star Richard Sherman as confirmed cast members for the new-look show. But are more on the way?

The SBJ also hinted at two other potential additions to the team at Undisputed. First is Keyshawn Johnson, who was recently fired from ESPN amid their round of talent cuts in June. The second is a slightly more controversial choice. Michael Irvin has also been floated as potentially joining the show. Irvin is currently on suspension at the NFL Network following accusations of an inappropriate incident with a hotel worker during the Super Bowl weekend in February. Both Irvin and Johnson are believed to be being considered for rotational contributor roles. Meanwhile, Sherman and Nichols will serve as permanent panelists alongside Bayless.

Skip Bayless’ New “Undisputed” Co-Host Has Been Revealed

Skip Bayless is a controversial individual when it comes to the sports talk world. Overall, he can be a lot of fun to watch and listen to thanks to his outlandish takes. Moreover, his LeBron James hatred has carried him for many years. At this point, he is like Howard Stern in the sense that the majority of his viewers are his haters. They want to see what he will say next, and it always leads to some hilarious discourse. Skip is a troll who knows exactly what he is doing, even if he won’t admit it.

Recently, however, Shannon Sharpe decided to leave Undisputed. Since that time, the show has been looking for a new co-host. Recently, it was revealed that Lil Wayne would be a co-host with Skip every Friday. According to Andrew Marchand of The New York Post, Skip Bayless’ permanent co-host has now been revealed, albeit unofficially. The man in question is none other than former NFL star Richard Sherman. As you may remember, these two have sparred before on shows like First Take.

Skip Bayless Vs. Richard Sherman

Given their previous history, it remains to be seen what kind of chemistry they will have. However, we imagine they will force themselves to get along for the sake of the show. Either way, this partnership is actually very exciting. We can only imagine what kind of debates these men are going to have. Sherman comes from a football background, and we’re sure those Cowboys conversations will be legendary. Hopefully, this partnership actually lives up to the hype. Otherwise, Undisputed may be in jeopardy.

As for Shannon Sharpe, people are waiting on his next move. Some believe he could eventually join First Take, although that has yet to be confirmed. Either way, it should be interesting to see how things play out in the sports television landscape over the coming months. Undisputed will return to the airwaves on August 28th. Let us know what you think of Shannon’s replacement, in the comments section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more news from around the sports world.

Lil Wayne And Skip Bayless Will Duke It Out On ‘Undisputed’ As The Rapper Is Set To Make Weekly Appearances

Weezy F Baby and the F stands for “featured recurring guest host.” Lil Wayne’s love for sports has long been documented throughout his music and frequent appearances on sports debate shows. Now, “The Formula” rapper has reportedly found another way to discuss his thoughts on the biggest headlines in sports media.

According to Skip Bayless, he and Lil Wayne will duke it out on Fox Sports 1’s Undisputed once a week when the show returns from hiatus on August 28. During the host’s latest episode of his podcast, the Skip Bayless Show, he shared the news by saying, “Wayne has agreed every Friday going forward to do a segment with me live. He might not always be in the studio, depending on his schedule. But he’s going to be joining me every Friday.”

He continued, “As for the segment — I don’t know. 12 or 15 minutes? If he’s hot or rolling, maybe we’ll keep him on for a couple of segments if he has the time. That you can look forward to, he is so deep when it comes to sports. He doesn’t yell or scream, but he gets emotional.”

That’s not the only new addition set to take place over on Undisputed. Bayless later revealed to listeners that Lil Wayne will also record the show’s theme song. Lil Wayne originally recorded the show’s song “No Mercy” in 2016. When discussing that upcoming track, Bayless said, “Wayne and I started going back and forth. Sometimes in text. Sometimes face-to-face about ‘No Mercy’ going back a year ago. Because at one point, he said to me, ‘I’m going to do another one.’ And I said, ‘You mean you would replace ‘No Mercy.’ And he said, ‘Yeah.’ You can’t do better than the best. You can’t do greater than the greatest. Because that song — that theme song ‘No Mercy’ and ‘I won’t back down.’ is simply the greatest sports theme song ever. Not even close. And he would say to me, ‘Watch me. Just watch.’ he felt like I was daring him.”

Lil Wayne To Get Weekly Spot On “Undisputed”

A lot of the focus on the collapse of Undisputed has been on the future of Shannon Sharpe. After all, it was Sharpe who left the show after seven years. It’s believed that a growing rift between Sharpe and Skip Bayless led to the NFL Hall of Famer seeking greener pastures. Those pastures appear to be ESPN, where Stephen A. Smith is very eager for Sharpe to become a part of First Take. However, what about Undisputed, a show that is still on the air?

Since Sharpe’s sudden departure, Bayless has been utilizing a rotating cast of guest co-hosts. This has included Bayless’ close friend Lil Wayne. “Wayne will be involved more than ever in Undisputed going forward,” Skip Bayless expressed on air. “So will Young Money. I love you, man. And I thank you for yet another very memorable Saturday. The connection here is my wife, Ernestine, and I are endlessly fascinated by [Lil] Wayne’s gift for recording and performing. Just as I believe he is unquenchably intrigued by behind-the-scenes at Undisputed. Other than Ernestine, I don’t know anybody, any human, that watches more Undisputed, for that matter, more FS1 than Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. does. I’m pretty sure he never misses an Undisputed,” Bayless said during his June 29 show. Now the speculation is getting a little bit of confirmation.

Lil Wayne To Join Undisputed Every Friday

“Wayne has agreed every Friday going forward to do a segment with me live,” Bayless announced during his August 3 show. He might not always be in studio depending on his schedule. But he’s going to be joining me every Friday. As for the segment – I don’t know. 12, 15 minutes? If he’s hot, if he’s rolling, maybe we’ll keep him a couple segments. That you can look forward to. He is so deep when it comes to sports. He doesn’t yell or scream but he gets emotional. And you hang on his every word. Because trust me, he has thought through every single word.”

If this is the case, then we can expect the first Lil Wayne segment on the August 4 show. However, there’s still no word on the longterm future of Undisputed. Sooner or later, Bayless is either going to have to commit to a solo host format or find a permanent co-host. The problem is that, as we saw with Sharpe, Bayless is an acquired taste and not especially easy to work with at times. Who would you like to see take over as a permanent co-host? Let us know in the comments.

Skip Bayless Names Charles Barkley As “Dream Partner” For “UNDISPUTED”

June 13 marked the last time Shannon Sharpe would host UNDISPUTED. After seven years, the NFL Hall of Famer left the talk show he co-hosted with Skip Bayless. Reportedly, the relationship between Sharpe and Bayless had drastically deteriorated, prompting Sharpe to leave Fox for greener pastures. Sharpe’s final day was marked by the bizarre retweeting of an adult content creator and a moving behind-the-scenes video of his final broadcast.

Sharpe’s departure was yet another seismic shift in the sports media landscape. It came less than a month after Pat McAfee announced that he was leaving FanDuel to join ESPN. However, Sharpe’s departure didn’t mean that UNDISPUTED was ending. There have been some rumors – Antonio Brown joked that he would be replacing Shannon. Furthermore, there are reports that after being released by ESPN, Keyshawn Johnson might be headed to FS1. However, Bayless has now named his provided co-host. And it’s not a name many people were expecting.

Bayless Names Charles Barkley As Dream Co-Host

“Charles Barkley would be my dream debate partner on Undisputed,” Bayless said. “I would dive out of bed, every morning out here in Los Angeles, as 2 o’clock in the morning to get to work with Charles. Please, Charles. Please come and, please, work with me — me, this damn idiot. What a joy it would be to do battle every day with Charles Barkley, live, on television.” Now Charles Barkley hates Bayless. Straight-up hates him. In fact, Barkley has gone as far as to say that if he had a terminal illness, he would kill Bayless on live TV.

While very unlikely to happen, there is a Sickos element to this idea. UNDISPUTED would become Thunderdome-esque, no holds barred fight. Just pure titles-to-credits verbal violence. However, true Sicko content is an art form. UNDISPUTED featuring Barkley and Bayless would be fun for one episode. But no one wants to watch that level of vitriol every single weekday. Sharpe literally left the show because the ideological clash with Bayless was becoming too divisive. Sure, there is an element of fun to be had from the pairing. But no one legitimately would be willing to sit through this show with these two guys who hate each other as much as Barkley and Bayless do.

Lil Wayne & Skip Bayless Hint At The Future Of “Undisputed”

Recently, Lil Wayne and Skip Bayless once again reminded fans of their friendship when the latter visited the former’s home. “Ernestine [his wife] and I just got back from spending a sun-blessed LA Saturday afternoon at Lil Wayne’s,” the sports commentator captioned an Instagram picture. “4 hours of the best conversation 3 humans could hope to have- on music, sports and life. Deep thoughts punctuated by big laughs. Love you, man.” However, it seems like that event actually put larger things in motion. Moreover, Bayless recounted the meet-up during the latest episode of The Skip Bayless Show with some interesting hints on Thursday (June 29).

Other than Ernestine, I don’t know anybody, any human, that watches more Undisputed, for that matter, more FS1 than Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. does. I’m pretty sure he never misses an Undisputed.”

Skip Bayless Visiting Lil Wayne

Of course, this is promising because Skip Bayless is still looking for an Undisputed cohost following Shannon Sharpe’s departure. After all, Lil Wayne actually filled in as a special guest-slash-substitute host to talk with Skip. Still, it seems relatively unlikely given how much time Tunechi dedicates to his music craft and how busy he could be with festivals, interviews, and more. That being said, it would definitely give rap fans who don’t watch Undisputed a reason to tune in, and would most likely raise the show’s already high profile.

Meanwhile, Weezy continues to be one of the most acclaimed, awarded, and sought-after artists in the game. Recently, reports surfaced indicating that BMI will grace him with the Icon Award in celebration of hip-hop’s 50th anniversary. The BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards will take place on September 6, and we’ll see if this is the only honor he wins for the rest of the year. Many might not agree, but a larger seat on Undisputed would certainly be an honor in his eyes. Regardless, keep checking in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on Skip Bayless and Lil Wayne.
