She may have a Grammy nomination under her belt (something many other female rap veterans are still striving for), but that hasn’t stopped the internet from encouraging Saweetie to retire from hip-hop in favour of modelling. Thankfully, the Icy Girl is a pro at posing for Instagram photo dumps, and rumour has it her boyfriend YG gives her a monthly allowance to keep her looking fresh and fly in designer duds. On Saturday (August 5), she took a break from grabbing dinner in West Hollywood with her man to, instead, work a shift as a ring girl at the Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz fight.

The YouTuber ultimately came out on top in the 10-round spat. While it was entertaining to watch him take down his opponent, many eyes in the building were notably on Saweetie throughout the night. “And there is Saweetie once again. Gentleman, I’m telling you, I might leave commentary if she keeps doing this,” one of the announcers thirstily declared as the “Best Friend” hitmaker turned around for the camera to show off her bubble butt.

As the voice behind the camera returns to work, Saweetie grins and blows a kiss at the camera. To contrast her uniform for the night, the California native rocked a platinum blonde wig. She also channelled her inner Barbie Girl with beautiful pink eyeshadow and dangling earrings in the same colour. It seems her appearance at the fight also caught the attention of Conor McGregor, who tweeted at the 30-year-old amid the Diaz and Paul fight unfolding in front of him.

Artists like Aaliyah and Britney Spears previously paved the way for using wild animals in their visuals and performances, but modern starlets like Saweetie continue to keep the trend alive. Last weekend, the California native gave us two new singles – “BIRTHDAY” and “SHOT O’ CLOCK.” After teaming up with Tyga and her boyfriend, YG, for the former track, the fashionista collaborated with a few huge snakes to film the music video for the latter, which landed on Thursday (August 3).

In the visual for “SHOT O’ CLOCK,” Saweetie beautifully channelled her inner Cleopatra. In her usual fashion, the Icy Girl left little to the imagination in several of her looks, including a sultry silver bodysuit that puts her perfectly sculpted curves on display. On Friday morning, her Instagram feed lit up with a photo dump showing off her body, as well as the black and white reptiles she had the opportunity to get up close and personal with while filming.

As per usual, Saweetie’s glam is entirely on point, from her long black hair cascading down her back to her beautiful blue eyeshadow bringing out the brown in her eyes. Of course, there are always those with someone to say in the comments. This time around, it appears the “Best Friend” hitmaker’s main criticism is comparing herself to Cleopatra. Besides her new “SHOT O’ CLOCK” and “BIRTHDAY” singles, Saweetie has also been in the news in connection with the Barbie movie.

While she didn’t actually appear on the star-studded soundtrack, industry insiders have since confirmed that Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’s “Barbie World” collab originally belonged to the Icy Girl. While this easily could’ve caused tension between the rap divas, Saweetie made it clear there’s no bad blood by naming Minaj on her list of dream collaborators. Saweetie Doesn’t Mind Nicki Minaj Being ‘Inspired’ By Her ‘Icy Girl, Icy World’ Sample On ‘Barbie World’

Rap’s current sample-mania phase has produced some duds and some jams, but it has also seen some minor controversy as rappers go after the same sample. This turned out to be the case with one of rap’s early modern it-girls, Saweetie, and the godmother of the present generation, Nicki Minaj, when both employed the same sample of Aqua’s 1997 hit “Barbie Girl.”

Saweetie, who first teased her version, “Icy Girl, Icy World,” during an Instagram Live stream, found herself getting scooped when Nicki teamed up with rap’s latest it-girl Ice Spice for “Barbie World,” which wound up getting placed on the soundtrack for the Barbie movie. The controversy deepened when Jason Martin (formerly known as Problem) revealed that Saweetie’s version was initially sent to Nicki, who turned it down only to pop up on the soundtrack later with a different co-star.

Now, Saweetie herself has chimed in on the dust-up, telling Power 106 Los Angeles’ Justin Credible that she still intends to release her version, despite everything. In the interview, she points out that what happened isn’t uncommon in the recording industry, as songs often pass through several hands before being released, and sometimes, the original artist can get lost in the shuffle.

She’s unbothered, though, saying, “I love to inspire, that’s my purpose here, and they look bomb as f*ck in the video. So it’s just like ‘Okay, bitch, I see you!’ Mine still coming out though. Stay tuned. I’m saving it for a very special moment.” She also told Justin Credible that she’s changing the title of her long-awaited debut album after realizing that Pretty Bitch Music is her “movement” (also, probably not as marketable as any of the other branding she’s come up with over the past five years).

In the meantime, Saweetie, who just released a double single for her birthday consisting of “Birthday” and “Shot O’ Clock” (which, funnily enough, is also based on a popular ’90s hit, the DNA remix of Suzanne Vega’s “Tom’s Diner”), is gearing up for a tour with her new boo, YG, and Tyga as the two Compton rappers promote their upcoming joint project.

Today, YG, Saweetie, and Tyga announce their STR8 TO THE KLUB Tour, a true West Coast lineup if there ever was one.

The trio is slated to perform 14 arena shows in 13 North American cities, kicking things off on September 21st at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento and concluding at the KIA Forum in Los Angeles on November 22nd. This serves as YG’s second headlining tour this year, on the heels of his Red Cup Tour. This will be Tyga and Saweetie’s first headlining tour this year.

This isn’t the first time YG and Saweetie showed PDA, previously sighted cuddling up backstage at Rolling Loud Los Angeles. Additionally, the two were seen on baecation in Cabo at the end of May, with photos of them kissing and snuggled by the cool. The two collaborated on Mozzy’s “In My Face” record just last year, alongside 2 Chainz.

Birthdays are a glorious occasion, but no one celebrates the anniversary of their birth quite like Saweetie. This year, the rapper headed to Las Vegas to enjoy Usher’s My Way residency up close and personal but avoiding Kekegate. However, the Icy Girl’s festivities are far from over. On her new single, “Birthday,” the musician teamed up with upcoming tour mates Tyga and YG for one more blowout extravaganza.

Saweetie can have her cake or, apparently, be one too. In the visual, the musician dripped with jewels embodied the purpose of a birthday candle. Not only is she every guy’s wish (but only her rumored boo YG can have), but Saweetie is a bright flame you can’t take your eyes off. On her special day, the musician is a spoiled brat and doesn’t mind showing it, as she rapped, “It’s my birthday b*tch these my birthday rules / I aint spendin nothing all the drinks on you / I hope that aint your n**** cause he tryna get loose / See me coming through and a b*tch better move.”

For the month of July, it’s Saweetie’s world, and we’re just living in it.
