Jorge Masvidal And Nate Diaz Scrap MMA Rematch, Will Box Instead

Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz with have a boxing match in June as opposed to an MMA rematch. The fight, dubbed “Last Man Standing” will occur on June 1 and be preceded by a multi-city promotional tour. While Masvidal will be coming out of retirement for the fight, the UFC still had to approve it as he is still under contract with them.

“Nate’s a dead man walking. I can’t wait to prove that last time was no fluke. He got saved by the referee. Now we are boxing, which he says is his forte, but he’s got no shot at beating me. I’m not going to give him an inch in that ring to even breathe. If he thought our MMA match was bad, this is going to be much worse. I’m going to drown him. I want to put away any talk that him and I are the same, or that the referee saved the day. All of that talk ends June 1. Violence and throwing hands are in both of our bloods but as I proved before, I’m a far superior athlete and I’m a meaner fighter. When June 1 comes I’ll put all unanswered questions to rest, live for the world to see,” Masvidal said in a statement.

Jorge Masvidal Claims Police Were Biased Against Him

Masvidal’s retirement was also marked by an ongoing beef with Covington. Masvidal allegedly attacked Covington outside a Miami Beach restaurant 17 days after he lost to Covington at UFC 272. Footage of the incident quickly emerged online and Masvidal was charged with two felonies. Furthermore, Covington has claimed Masvidal broke his tooth and gave him brain damage.

However, according to court documents from last April, Masvidal claimed that the Miami Beach Police Department showed “favoritism” towards Covington. According to Masvidal, Covington did not call 911 but a Miami Beach sergeant he trained with. Additionally, Masvidal claimed that when said sergeant arrived, he called in a “Code 3”. Code 3 is a police response code for an incident that “is defined as an emergency response determined by factors such as immediate danger to officer or public safety.” He also alleges that the unnamed sergeant made calls to individual officers to request their presence. Furthermore, Masvidal claims that in a podcast appearance prior to the incident, Covington said that he “rolls with the Miami Beach Police Department.”

Nate Diaz Ices Out His Fighters With New Chains

Nate Diaz is an absolute legend in the fight game. For years, he was able to dominate the UFC. Although he did lose his fair share of fights, he always made things entertaining. Usually, his matches would end in a bloody mess. Overall, this ingratiated him with the likes of Dana White. More importantly, however, it had fans tuning into all of his matches. Even when he got up there in age and had no chance at winning, he was able to go out there and put on a show.

Recently, Nate Diaz fought against Jake Paul. He ultimately lost the fight by unanimous decision. However, it was still a great performance as he didn’t let himself get knocked out. While he probably won’t box again, he still has other fights to look forward to. For instance, just last year, he created a new promotion called Real Fight Inc. He has been recruiting some new fighters, and recently, he hit them with a fantastic new gift. According to TMZ Sports, they all got some new pendants.

Nate Diaz Demands Jake Paul Rematch

Nate Diaz has openly challenged Jake Paul to a rematch after Paul announced his intention to fight in December. “Rematch December. You ain’t got nobody to fight. So I’ll beat your ass dec 15th,” Diaz wrote on Instagram alongside the mockup of a promotional flyer for the fight. However, reaction to the rematch was tepid outside of some of Diaz’s MMA colleagues. Paul himself responded to the challenge, posting a parody of Diaz’s flyer with Derek, the viral spokesperson for sportsbook Betr, taking Paul’s place.

While Paul has confirmed that he is fighting on December 15, his opponent remains a mystery. Most believe that it’s likely going to be a rematch against Tommy Fury, who Paul lost to earlier this year. This line of thinking is supported by the fact that Paul said the fight would be the next step on his journey to becoming a world boxing champion. However, Fury is literally less than a week removed from his last fight and would be entering a December 15 bout on two months’ training. Paul is expected to reveal his opponent in the coming weeks.

Paul Trades Words With Deji At Prime Card

Meanwhile, Paul did recently beef with another of his former opponents. Paul squared off with Deji backstage at the DAZN Prime Card event last weekend. “I would destroy you. If we fought again, I would absolutely beat you,” Deji shot at Paul in a joint interview. “This is why I didn’t come tonight. I didn’t want to deal with all these people who got famous off of me,” Paul shot back. Paul beat Deji in an amateur fight way back in 2018. However, Paul is expected to challenge KSI, Deji’s brother. The two have been hinting at it for some time now. KSI comes off an uninspiring majority decision loss to Tommy Fury.

Prior to the KSI-Fury fight, Paul had weighed in on KSI as an opponent and his expectations for the bout. “Well, I think it’s a win-win for [KSI]. He gets the money. Even if he loses, then it’s like ‘Okay, whatever. Me and Jake both lost to Tommy. Then, we can still fight.’ But if he were to just fight me and I win, then it’s like he’s just, like, done. You know, let’s just say that there’s this chance that he clips Tommy with his wild style and catches him. It’s boxing! I think Tommy TKOs him in the fourth round,” Jake said of the fight. Of course, Fury never knocked down KSI and took a tight decision win instead.

Jake Paul Claims He Would Have Killed Nate Diaz If Boxing Match Had Been A Street Fight

Jake Paul is clearly not feeling very secure about his recent unanimous decision victory over MMA fighter Nate Diaz. Diaz, making his boxing debut, surprisingly well his own against the 6-1 Paul, making it through to the final bell. Outside of the first few rounds, it was far from the KO beatdown that people were expecting Paul to deliver.

We say that Paul appears to be feeling a little insecure as he took to social media to take some more jabs at Diaz. Posting to his Instagram story, Paul shared an image of one of the knockdowns he scored on Diaz. “Knocked this bitch out of the ring. Y’all think shit is sweet because I have blonde hair fr. If this was a street fight he’d be dead right now.” He posted another image of Diaz getting up from the knockdown, adding “Stay on your knees son.”

Jake Paul Makes Wild Street Fight Claims About Nate Diaz

It’s an incredibly bold claim from Paul to suggest that he would have dominated a no-holds-barred fight against Diaz. Paul is a showfighter. He picks easy-to-win fights that will get a lot of publicity. In his seven-fight career, he’s fought one professional boxer and lost. Instead, Paul brings in debut fighters to pummel in front of massive audiences. He’s essentially the Harlem Globetrotters of boxing right now. All sizzle, no steak. For example, Diaz is very eager to have an MMA rematch because it will simply be the complete opposite – it would be Paul making his debut against an experienced fighter.

As for the street fight allegations – Paul is approaching this from a boxing mindset. He thinks he’d kill Diaz if the two men squared off as boxers but without restrictions. The problem is that Diaz is immediately going to utilize MMA abilities to end the fight. And this isn’t hypothetical, Diaz literally did this exact thing earlier this year. While in New Orleans, Diaz got into an argument with a guy on the street. After some jawing and shoving, Diaz wrapped the guy in a headlock and choked him out. So yeah, it looks like Jake Paul isn’t feeling too great about his most recent fight right now.

Conor McGregor Calls Out Nate Diaz Over “Abysmal” Loss To Jake Paul

Conor McGregor slammed Nate Diaz on Twitter, Sunday afternoon, following his UFC rival’s loss to Jake Paul in a boxing match the night before. McGregor called the performance embarrassing in several since-deleted posts on the site.

He began: “Peoples champ I gonna say this now, them antics when its time2move ain’t hitting for me no more. I’ve seen him point, I’ve seen him turn/walk away etcetc. it’s stale now. Fkn Do somethin cos you’re doing nothing! Could’ve been the 170lb ufc champion. Wasted it. Ur doing fuck all.”

“I gonna serve up your liver on a sandwich in the trilogy m8,” he added in another post. “Out straight. I won’t even hit ur face. That was abysmal last night. Paul is a r*tard. Absolute garbage he is. Moving backwards like I was watching a fight in rewind. Holy garbage. Embarrassing stuff all round IMO. #piss.” From there, he concluded: “Try point and walk away from me I gonna run at you and root you up the hole. Ronda messaged me said you are a do nothing bitch.”

Paul won his fight against Diaz by unanimous decision at American Airlines Center on Saturday. It was an important bounce-back victory following his loss to Tommy Fury, earlier this year. McGregor and Diaz have faced off twice over the years. Diaz first defeated McGregor in March 2016 via submission and then McGregor beat Diaz in August 2016 via split decision.

Paul has previously expressed interest in fighting McGregor himself. Speaking with ESPN ahead of his latest fight, Paul explained that he believed beating Diaz would set himself up to do so. “I see a road map where I knock out Nate and then go to Conor McGregor,” Paul said at the time. “To do what Conor couldn’t do — knock out Nate — and then that’ll be the biggest fight in combat sports that could possibly be made.” However, after Saturday’s fight, he changed his tune. When asked about the idea, this time around he remarked: “I don’t care about (McGregor). He needs to go to rehab. I want Nate in MMA. I want more professional boxers and I want Canelo.”

She may have a Grammy nomination under her belt (something many other female rap veterans are still striving for), but that hasn’t stopped the internet from encouraging Saweetie to retire from hip-hop in favour of modelling. Thankfully, the Icy Girl is a pro at posing for Instagram photo dumps, and rumour has it her boyfriend YG gives her a monthly allowance to keep her looking fresh and fly in designer duds. On Saturday (August 5), she took a break from grabbing dinner in West Hollywood with her man to, instead, work a shift as a ring girl at the Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz fight.

The YouTuber ultimately came out on top in the 10-round spat. While it was entertaining to watch him take down his opponent, many eyes in the building were notably on Saweetie throughout the night. “And there is Saweetie once again. Gentleman, I’m telling you, I might leave commentary if she keeps doing this,” one of the announcers thirstily declared as the “Best Friend” hitmaker turned around for the camera to show off her bubble butt.

Saweetie Shows Off Her (Ass)ets at Paul vs. Diaz Fight

As the voice behind the camera returns to work, Saweetie grins and blows a kiss at the camera. To contrast her uniform for the night, the California native rocked a platinum blonde wig. She also channelled her inner Barbie Girl with beautiful pink eyeshadow and dangling earrings in the same colour. It seems her appearance at the fight also caught the attention of Conor McGregor, who tweeted at the 30-year-old amid the Diaz and Paul fight unfolding in front of him.

Saweetie has been serving up plenty of tantalizing looks lately. Not only did she stun alongside YG and Tyga in the “BIRTHDAY” music video, but she also channelled her inner Cleopatra for her “SHOT O’ CLOCK” visual last week. Fans Brawl After Jake Paul Beats Nate Diaz

While Jake Paul won his highly-anticipated fight with Nate Diaz, he wasn’t able to fulfill the promise he made to “do what Conor McGregor couldn’t – knock out Nate Diaz.” Paul won via unanimous decision (97-92, 98-91, 98-91). But, as mentioned, it wasn’t the brutal beatdown everyone was expecting. After a brutal first round from Paul, Diaz seemed to find his footing and showed some impressive inside work. “He’s tough. He’s real tough,” Paul said. “That’s what he’s known for. But tough in this sport doesn’t work.”

Of course, it wasn’t all humility from the outspoken Ohioan. “I knocked him down, won basically every round, but he’s a warrior. I had him hurt in the first round, he kept on coming. No one’s taken that much damage. All credit to my team and conditioning. Going 10 rounds in my eighth fight, it’s unheard of. Only been boxing for three years and beat a UFC legend.” Subsequently, Paul offered Diaz an MMA rematch. While a $10 million offer for such an event is currently on the table, Diaz’s indicated that it would need a bigger payday attached. Despite this, Diaz appeared interested in the offer. However, they weren’t the only ones fighting on the night.

Fans Brawl After Paul Win

The precursor to the chaos that would go down outside American Airlines Arena came as the fight was still in progress. Videos posted to social media showed Jake’s brother Logan, who recently announced his own return to the ring, getting into a physical altercation with a fan. While Jake was pummelling Diaz, Logan was getting his own action in ringside. It’s unclear what caused the altercation, which was quickly stopped by security.

Meanwhile, more videos emerged of fans fighting in the shopping complex at the arena immediately after the fight. It’s unclear what started these brawls but multiple videos quickly emerged showing fight attendees throwing down. However, no serious injuries or major arrests have been announced as a result of the incidents. Furthermore, many of the fights were slammed on social media as being “cringe”. In addition, many people saw it as simply people trying to get in their own Jake Paul moment.

Jake Paul Walks Out With Lil Durk Before Win Over Nate Diaz

Jake Paul certainly made one hell of an entrance to his fight against Nate Diaz. The two fighters had been hyping the fight since it was announced in April. However, few people knew what to expect from the actual fight itself. Many people believed that Paul would absolutely destroy Diaz, but more on that in a moment. Paul set the tone for the fight when he arrived at American Airlines Arena in a tank. Then, when it was time to enter the ring, he got an all-star walkout.

Dressed in his look from the cover of Almost Healed, Lil Durk performed “All My Life” as he walked alongside Paul to the ring. The track peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and is platinum certified. It provided an impressive lead-in to the fight that, as mentioned, many expected Paul to absolutely dominate. And while Paul was the better fighter, the bout was less of the tomato can bounce-back people expected.

Paul Wins, But Diaz Holds His Own

Jake Paul Arrives To Nate Diaz Fight In A Tank

Jake Paul pulled up to American Airlines Center in Dallas on Saturday night in a military tank. The YouTuber-turned-boxer is set to take on UFC star Nate Diaz in a 10-round cruiserweight bout at the end of the night.

In videos circulating online, Paul can be seen riding into the venue while sitting on the top of a tank. Paul enters the fight with a 6-1-0 boxing record, winning four of those bouts by knockout. He suffered his first loss by a split decision to Tommy Fury in February.

“I think the loss actually made me more relatable, because for some reason people think of celebrities as not humans,” Paul told ESPN of his loss to Fury. “If anything, it’s grown my fan base and given me the opportunity to come back, and people see now how serious I am about it, doubling down now after a loss.”

As for Saturday night’s fight, Most Valuable Promotions co-founder Nakisa Bidarian told ESPN’s Marc Raimondi that Paul “may retire if he loses to Nate Diaz.” “His boxing career is on the line, in terms of being one of the top three or four guys in the entire sport globally,” Bidarian told the outlet. “I think if he was to lose, he’d just go to being another prospect that’s coming up in the ring.”

Jake Paul Arrives In A Tank

As for what’s next for Paul, back in May he suggested taking on Conor McGregor if he beats Nate Diaz. “I see a roadmap where I knock out Nate and then go to Conor McGregor,” Paul told ESPN in May. “[I can] do what Conor couldn’t do — knock out Nate. And then that’ll be the biggest fight in combat sports that could possibly be made, is me versus Conor.”

Drake Backs Nate Diaz Over Jake Paul With Six-Figure Bet

All eyes will be on Dallas, Texas tonight (August 5) as Jake Paul finally faces off against Nate Diaz in the boxing ring. The fight was announced back in April as Paul sought to find the perfect comeback fight following his February loss to Tommy Fury. That opportunity came in the former of the formidable Diaz. While Diaz has never boxed professionally, he is one of the UFC’s best-known fighters of the last decade. That lack of boxing experience makes Diaz the underdog. However, that suits Drake just fine as the rapper revealed he had placed a $250,000 bet on Diaz to beat The Problem Child.

Drake revealed the massive wager on Instagram, showing his betting slip from Stake. While most sportsbooks have Diaz as the -340/3.40 underdog, Stake appears to have the former UFC fight at -400/4.00. That means Drake will receive $1 million if Diaz is able to overcome the former YouTuber. It’s a change of allegiances from the rapper. Back in February, Drizzy lost $400,000 when he bet on Paul to beat Tommy Fury. Explaining his rationale for tonight’s fight, Drake said “Jake is a dog but I can never bet against a Diaz brother that’s just how I was raised.”

Drake Goes Against The Grain For Paul-Diaz

Jake Paul Nate Diaz

Drake is definitely going against the prevailing opinion with his latest massive bet. While Diaz has a longer history of fighting experience, the reports of his training have been…worrying to say the least. Furthermore, Paul is younger, faster, and more athletic than the grizzled MMA veteran. Additionally, The Problem Child has already won four fights against MMA pros. Tyron Woodley, Ben Askren, and Anderson Silva all thought they could take him down a peg on his terms. If this was in the Octagon, there would be legitimate fears for Paul’s life. But in reality, this is a feel-good fight to help restore Paul’s credibility before he attempts to take on an actual boxer again.

The one thing going for Diaz? He absolutely hates Jake Paul. While the UFC veteran may have seemed subdued or even downright bored during the buildup to this fight, it’s because he doesn’t see Paul as being worth his time. As Diaz stated in a recent interview, he is essentially taking this fight to do what no one else is willing to do – take Jake Paul down a peg and shut him up for a while. Even then, Paul offered this fight because he doesn’t care about being a professional boxer. The Problem Child cares about high-profile knockouts of people with lengthy Wikipedia pages, boxing prowess be damned. In short, Drake should probably be prepared to part ways with that $250,000 unless the upset of the century goes down in Dallas.
