He’s often spoken about his pain after losing his father, but 2 Chainz got a surprise that brought on fond memories of his dad. It seems that the rapper was doing a bit of work around his home when a broken pipe revealed a secret stash. Chainz believes the cash was hidden away by his father.
2 Chainz shared a video online where he showed off a bag filled with rolled-up bills. “I had a busted pipe in the basement,” he said. “They fixed my basement and then they found, um, I guess it’s my pops’ old stash.”
Further, in July 2022, 2 Chainz honored his father on the 10-year anniversary of his passing. In 2012, the rapper sat down with Angie Martinez to detail what it was like when his father died.
“I was there the whole time, even when he passed, I was right there. It was just something,” said Chainz. “And it was like, ‘Man, you got a tour to do. You got an album coming out.’ He was saying little things like I’mma be alight, and really I just be talking to him like he still here.”
Tristan Thompson and Khloé Kardashian have endured no shortage of rollercoasters from the time they first got together in 2016. After the athlete’s paternity scandal with Maralee Nichols surprisingly went public last year, things seemed to be on the rocks between the on-again-off-again pair. Since then, though, the reality star has made it obvious that she’s always going to support her co-parent.
Earlier this month, the Canadian was left devastated by the news of his mother, Andrea Thompson’s sudden passing. Shortly after he found out about her cardiac arrest, the father of four promptly flew back to his home country. His second baby mama was photographed by his side.
The following week, the NBA star held a memorial service for his family matriarch. His good friend and fellow Toronto mans, Drake, was in attendance. Paparazzi cameras also caught glimpses of figures resembling Kim Kardashian and her little sister Kylie Jenner paying their respects.
Khloé has kept quiet on social media in wake of the tragedy. Late on Monday (January 23) evening though, she finally vented her thoughts and emotions in a heartwarming tribute to Andrea. “I have been avoiding this… Avoiding accepting this is real. I have so much to say but nothing at all,” the mother of two began.
“I have so many emotions and still I feel numb. Life can be brutally unfair at times. This has been one of the toughest times in so many of our lives. But at the same time, I feel blessed that I am lucky to have had someone that makes saying goodbye so incredibly difficult. So difficult that I’m choosing not to say goodbye for good because that is something I cannot fathom.”
Kardashian is confident that she’ll see Andrea again in this lifetime. “I know I will hear your sweet voice and infectious laugh again. I know I’ll get to feel that embrace of yours. I’ll see you again with the many that have gone before you that I so desperately miss, love and cherish,” she later added.
Elsewhere in the commemorative post, the California native joked that Mrs. Thompson is probably in heaven, yelling, “Who does that?!” as her family cries over their loss. “At the same time, I know you never wanted to leave your boys. They are your entire world. They will learn to live with the hole in their hearts because they are warriors just like their warrior mommy,” she reassured the late woman.
“Just know, I promise you, Amari will be perfectly ok. We will all look after him, help him and protect him. Your boys will be ok because they have their guardian Angel by their side,” Kardashian promised before concluding with a Bible verse.
While the loss of Andrea is certainly sad, Khloé and Tristan welcomed their second child together as co-parents just a few months ago. To celebrate Halloween last year, she shared the first photos of the baby boy whose name we still don’t know.

On the 23rd day of 2023, the United States has already encountered at least 36 mass shootings, CNN reports via Gun Violence Archive. The latest of these tragedies unfolded in Monterey Park, California. Since this weekend, 11 victims have now tragically lost their lives at the hands of a 72-year-old gunman.
On Saturday (January 21) evening, Huu Can Tran opened fire at a local dance studio. At the time, the Asian American community was celebrating Lunar New Year. The venue was full of positive energy and excitement. Unfortunately, the cheer didn’t last long as the attack began shortly after 10 PM that night.
Officers responded to the scene around 10:22 PM where they witnessed people “pouring out of the location, screaming.” A group of people are said to have been wrestling with the elderly Asian male to get his weapon. 10 victims were pronounced dead at the scene. At least 10 others were “transported to numerous local hospitals and are listed in various conditions from stable to critical,” LAPD County Sheriff Captain Andrew Meyer told the media.
The coroner has been hard at work identifying those left dead after the senseless violence. Thus far, two women in their 60s – My Nhan and Lilan Li – are known to have died. The others who died at the studio over the weekend consist of three women and five men. None of them were younger than 50.
On Monday (January 23), one of those who was in the hospital for emergency care lost their life. “Our heroic staff at LAC+USC Medical Center have worked tirelessly to care for the four victims entrusted to our care,” the hospital shared in a statement.
“Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we are saddened to share that one of the victims has succumbed to their extensive injuries. We want to express our deepest sympathies to their families and loved ones.”
Other recent updates from CNN discuss the ongoing police investigation. Their primary focus at this time is finding a possible motive for the crime by searching Tran’s house. On Sunday morning, officers were trailing the supposed gunman after the shooting. As they exited the patrol car to approach his van, they heard a gunshot from inside.
When SWAT teams arrived on site, they found the killer dead after taking his own life. Upon searching the vehicle, authorities uncovered “several pieces of evidence” linking him to the dance studio he targeted, as well as a handgun.
Tran was apparently a regular patron of the site where he went through with his deadly antics. In fact, his ex-wife says they met there about two decades ago while he was giving informal lessons. At the time, he offered her free classes, and they married soon after.
A vigil for the victims will happen on Tuesday (January 24) at 5:30 PM.
Elsewhere in the world of crime, social media users have been fascinated by the University of Idaho stabbings and the alleged attacker, Bryan Kohberger. As we wait for the trial to unfold in the summer, it was revealed earlier this month that the 28-year-old allegedly posted menacing raps on a SoundCloud page.

FBG Duck’s mother claimed that King Von allegedly killed Boss Trell with help from his friend T. Roy. Moreover, this news comes soon after an FBI witness said that the late Chicago rapper put a hit out on Duck. Still, a lot of information on these incidents is unclear, something that Duck’s mother acknowledged.
“Von allegedly killed Trell, him and T. Roy,” she stated in a video clip. “Only the streets know and only the people who did it know, so that’s why I’m saying ‘allegedly’. November the 6th, my nephew made a post and he said: ‘I’m tired of this gang banging s**t…’ one of them posts he said. But the fact he said that November the 6th, this man allegedly killed him on the 8th, and then died seven years later, eight years later on the day that one of the people he killed made a post. I’m spiritual with this s**t, okay? And once we gone, we gone.”
Moreover, Duck’s mother’s testimony is eerie and heartfelt. Even though a lot of details are still hazy, millions still mourn those who died in these disputes. However, many pointed to an old tweet of Von’s as an indication of things smoothing out.
“Me and Duck settled Our differences right before he passed,” he wrote after Duck passed. “We was talking bout bringing everybody together as a whole n changing da community for the better. Imma still stand on dat shit. Every step of the way imma be thinking of u. Even doe u dissed my dead homies and family.”
Still, Duck’s mother claimed that these sentiments were untrue. Even after these cases revealed so much pain, many continue to honor the positive legacies these people left behind. For example, King Von’s estate recently dropped a video for his track “Get It Done” on what would’ve been his 28th birthday.
However, what do you think of FBG Duck’s mother’s allegations that King Von killed Boss Trell with T. Roy? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments down below. Also, as always, stay logged into HNHH for the latest updates on this case.
Each and every August, fans of the late Aaliyahmourn her untimely death, but when her birthday comes around in January, it marks the perfect occasion to celebrate the Princess of R&B’s life. This year, we’re specifically streaming “Are You That Somebody” in her honour.
Released in May of 1998, the song has chiefly gone on to reach critical acclaim and influence artists long after the vocalists’ tragic passing. As The Rolling Stone Album Guide previously put it, Timbaland’s production acts as a springboard for Aaliyah’s voice. R. Kelly’s, on the other hand, was more of a “cradle.”
As Genius notes, the song was surprisingly first recorded for the Dr. Dolittle soundtrack, and even earned a Grammy nomination. In the past the late 22-year-old was known for singing ballads, but this introduced the world to a new side of Aaliyah.
“Is it my go, is it your go? / Sometimes I’m goody-goody / Right now I’m naughty-naughty,” she flirtatiously sings on the catchy chorus. “Say yes or say no, ’cause I really need somebody / Tell me are you that somebody.”
The accompanying visual sees Aaliyah showing off her keen sense of style and expert dance skills.
In his usual fashion, Timbaland got creative with sampling for “Are You That Somebody.” He used a baby’s coo from Prince’s “Delirious” which remains talked about in music history to this day.
Stream Aaliyah’s “Are You That Somebody” on Spotify or Apple Music. Afterward, find this week’s new music recommendations on our R&B Season playlist here.
RIP.

The Royal Family’s names continue to circulate through the headlines as of late. This is mostly thanks to Prince Harry, who has been telling his story through various mediums. First, he and his wife Meghan Markle dropped off their six-part Netflix Original docuseries. Now, his memoir’s arrival is nearly here.
Aptly titled Spare – a reference to his position behind older brother Prince Williams’s role as heir to the throne – the book makes its debut on Tuesday (January 10). Prior to that, various leaks and previews appeared in the press, sparking excitement over the juice secrets to be spilled by the father of two.
On Sunday (January 8), an interview between Prince Harry and Anderson Cooper was aired on 60 Minutes. The conversation is a precursor for many of the topics in the book. Among them is the death of the royal’s mother, Princess Diana.
As the journalist asked the 38-year-old about his tragic loss, he confirmed that he does hold the paparazzi responsible for their alleged role in the socialite’s untimely death. “It was obvious to us as kids the British press’ part in our mother’s misery. I had a lot of anger inside of me that luckily, I never expressed to anybody,” he explained.
“But I resorted to drinking heavily. Because I wanted to numb the feeling, or I wanted to distract myself from whatever I was thinking. And I would, you know, resort to drugs as well,” Harry later added. In a voiceover, Cooper specifically notes that weed and cocaine were two of his vices of choice.
The prince also says that he struggled to cry over his mother’s death. This led him to try out experimental treatments using hallucinogenic mushrooms ad other psychedelics to connect with himself more.
“I would never recommend people to do this recreationally,” the Brit told the American. “But doing it with the right people if you are suffering from a huge amount of loss, grief or trauma, then these things have a way of working as a medicine.”
For Harry, it seems the most powerful part of the experience was getting rid of the feeling “that [he] needed to cry to prove to [his] mother that [he] missed her when, in fact, all she wanted was for [him] to be happy.”
In another interview, this one with ITV, the father of two clarified past claims about the Royal Family’s behaviour towards people of colour. Rather than labelling them as “racist” he wants to clarify that they’re guilty of “unconscious bias.”
“Once it’s been acknowledged or pointed out to you as an individual, otherwise an institution, that you have unconscious bias, you have an opportunity to learn and grow from that. Otherwise unconscious bias then moves into the category of racism,” Prince Harry says.
