Jada Pinkett Smith Confirms “Red Table Talk” Is Returning

Jada Pinkett Smith will officially be bringing her series, Red Table Talk, back in 2024. The actress confirmed the news during a live stream on TalkShopLive. The news comes following the release of her new memoir, Worthy, which has brought with it several headline-grabbing stories about her relationship with Will Smith.

“The Red Table is coming back. We are in the works of a situation right now. So next year,” Jada Pinkett Smith said. “We could not do the red table while I was writing this book and while Willow was on her music journey.”

Jada previously expressed confidence in the return of Red Table Talk while speaking with PEOPLE back in June. At the time, she confirmed several platforms had reached out about publishing the series. “We’ve had a couple platforms reach out to us,” Smith revealed. “And we have some interesting avenues that we’re looking at now. You know me, I’m always looking for the next innovative thing. Actually, there’s one idea that we have in mind that I’m kind of excited about that will probably be happening, maybe, close to the release of the book. We’ve got some really interesting stuff happening with [Red Table Talk]. I’m excited about that journey as well.”

Red Table Talk previously aired on Facebook Watch, beginning in May 2018. It ran there for five seasons. Jada has hosted numerous celebrities on the show over those years. Fans can look forward to seeing more from Smith, her daughter Willow, and her mother Adrienne Banfield-Norris soon. Recently, her son Jaden shared some other interesting news when he appeared as a guest speaker at the Psychedelic Science conference. He revealed that it was his mother who introduced hallucinogens to their family.

“It was just her for a really, really long time. And then, eventually it just trickled and evolved and everybody found it in their own ways,” the 24-year-old explained. He also went on to share that psychedelic substances have been a powerful tool in his life. Jaden even claimed that they’ve assisted him in improving his relationships with his siblings. “Siblings can argue so much and fight so much, and lord knows me and my siblings have done so much of that in the past,” he explained. “The level of love and empathy that I can feel for them inside of the (psychedelic) experiences and outside of the experiences,” he continued, “has been something that’s profound and beautiful.”

Ayesha Curry Reflects On 2019 “Red Table Talk” Interview, Says She Took Unflattering Editing “Personally”

Jada Pinkett Smith’s successful Facebook Watch series, Red Table Talk came to an unexpected end earlier this year after the social media platform cancelled all of its programming. Reactions to the news were mixed, with some expressing sadness over no more interviews from The Matrix actress and their favourite celebrities while others, such as Nick Cannon, suggested that the Will Smith and Chris Rock beef at the 2022 Oscars may have had something to do with it. Regardless, it certainly won’t be the last we’ll see of Jada on our screens, though some past guests aren’t hesitating to shade her years after their own sit-down on the show.

Ayesha Curry, for one, had plenty to say during her recent interview with Insider. The basketball wife is the cover star of the publication’s latest digital issue, and she made it clear that she’s not as insecure or “crazy” as editing on the internet show made her sound. “Stephen is very nice by nature and he’s very talkative,” the fashionista said of her NBA star husband at the time. “Everything is always very friendly and sometimes to the point where I’m like, I’m a grown woman so I’ll just insert myself. I’ll be like, ‘Hello. How are you doing?’”

Steph Curry’s Wife Has Beef with Red Table Talk

“The ladies will always be lurking, hoping for their moment and waiting. But for me, I honestly hate it,” Curry further added. Looking back on the moment now, the 34-year-old asserted, “It’s not what I said, and the context was weird. Yeah. I took that one personally.”

Elsewhere in her conversation with Insider, Ayesha discusses her decision to begin therapy following the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as stepping away from the spotlight. Rather than acting and making public appearances, she’s now been pouring into charity work and entrepreneurship. Her lifestyle company, Sweet July, aims to uplift fellow Black and women-owned small businesses.

Biggest “Red Table Talk” Moments That Got People Talking

For five seasons, Red Table Talk offered multiple generational perspectives on several topics. The talk show was led by Jada Pinkett Smith, her daughter Willow Smith, and matriarch Adrienne Banfield-Norris. It also provided many viral moments during its run. Due to the disruption of Facebook Watch Original programs, however, Red Table Talk was canceled in late April. However, the series is reportedly looking for a new home, so the trio might be making a return soon.

There have been many memorable moments from the now canceled Red Table Talk series. The show became known for many highly personal revelations by its star-studded guests. It also became a go-to destination for many celebrities to “set the record straight.” The show quickly became popular for its dose of healing, humor, and lack of judgment. It has also received a fair share of criticism from other celebrities and viewers. Over the course of its 129 episodes, here are five moments from the show that took the internet by storm.

“Motherhood” – Season 1, Episode 1

The debut episode of Red Table Talk quickly canceled any thoughts of the show being floozy. It featured a heart to heart conversation between mothers Jada Pinkett Smith and Sheree Fletcher, Will Smith’s ex-wife and the mother to the eldest Smith child, Trey. In the episode, the pair discussed their initial beef and eventual reconciliation. Pinkett Smith apologized to Fletcher for starting a relationship with Will Smith while they were still married. Overall, while there were moments of humor, “Motherhood” kicked off Red Table Talk expertly well, and the episode went viral in no time. The two women have since become friendly and co-parent.

“Jordyn Woods Shares The Truth” – Season 1, Episode 27

Just like the premiere episode, Red Table Talk ended its first season with a bang. Jordyn Woods was the featured guest in the episode. Woods famously came on the series to set the record straight about her alleged affair with Tristan Thompson. She was caught kissing Thompson at a party and the news took over the internet. Woods was quickly cut off from the Kardashian clan.

The episode became one of the most watched, and led to public backlash by members of the Kardashian family, particularly Khloé, Thompson’s girlfriend at the time. Building up to its release, fans were at the edge of their seats, and Woods’s breakdown garnered much sympathy. She also denied the allegations that she gave him a lap dance. Furthermore, Woods did admit to kissing Thompson, but with “no tongue.”

“Demi Moore & Her Daughters” – Season 2, Episode 17

Demi Moore and her daughters Rumer and Tallulah Willis shared a very emotional experience in this episode. Rumer, who she shares with actor Bruce Willis, recounted a harrowing moment surrounding Moore’s drug addiction. After almost 20 years sober, Moore relapsed after a public breakup with Ashton Kutcher. One day, the actress collapsed at home.

Rumer shared how she frantically called 911 on the phone and the journey to sobriety. The women have since grown much closer since the ordeal. They discussed their previous struggles, and how their family continues to heal despite the past. The interview was raw, and packed with a ton of emotion and tears.

“Breaking Family Cycles With Matthew McConaughey” – Season 3, Episode 19

Although canceled, Red Table Talk delivered many emotional episodes while it aired. One of these is the episode, “Breaking Family Cycles with Matthew McConaughey”. The actor sat with the Smith family to promote his memoir Greenlights. He recounted his falling out with his mother, Kay, and their reconciliation years after.

McConaughey shared how his mother did not respect boundaries once he began his rise to fame. Whenever he would confide in her, she would inform the press. This led to a breakdown in their relationship in the late ’90s and early 2000s. McConaughey’s mother was 90 years old when she appeared on Red Table Talk.

“Jada Brings Herself To The Table” – Season 3, Episode 12

“Jada Brings Herself to the Table” is easily the most talked about Red Table Talk episode ever. The husband and wife duo bared it all with Will Smith as the featured guest. The episode centered around Jada’s relationship with August Alsina, famously referred to as an “entanglement.” Alsina had previously said that he had Will’s blessing to pursue a relationship with Jada.

Jada admitted that she and Alsina had begun a relationship during a quiet separation from Will. The pair expressed their mutual hurt and how they have had to heal as a couple. The Red Table Talk episode canceled public perceptions that Will and Jada would end their relationship. To date, it is still the most watched Red Table Talk episode of all time.

There are many more episodes from the popular series that attained viral status, but these five stand out. Red Table Talk, although now canceled, did not receive the boot due to poor ratings. The show continued to perform well on the Facebook Watch platform. As the show is rumored to be shopped around, fans are holding out hope for its comeback.

Jada Pinkett-Smith Releases New Statement After ‘Red Table Talk’ is Dropped by Facebook

JadaPinkett Smith's'RedTableTalk'GetsMoreEpisodes

Following the cancellation of Red Table Talk, among all other Facebook originals, Jada Pinkett-Smith released a statement on Instagram.

“We are so grateful to have had such a beautiful partnership with Facebook Watch and we are sorry to see the entire team disband. We wish everyone well in their new journeys to come.

We at Red Table are in talks of finding a new home, and we’ll see you soon.”

Jada Pinkett Smith’s popular talk show is now being shopped around after an executive shakeup at Meta, Facebook’s parent company, has occurred.

Mina Lefevre, Head of Development and Programming at Meta, is leaving the company. She is one of the latest layoffs from Zuckerburg’s tech giant, a member of the 20,000 employees that are leaving.

With that decision, Red Table Talk is not returning to FB Watch as the video platform will now shift to VR experiences. Red Table Talk was the last remaining FB Watch original, and now, according to Deadline, the show starring Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith, and Adrienne Banfield Norris will look for a new location.

There is currently no report of where the show could land.

Nick Cannon Blasts “Red Table Talk” In Wake Of Cancellation

Red Table Talk had become a talk show staple in its short time on the air. Starting in 2018, the show revolved around Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith, and Adrienne Banfield-Norris discussing the big topics of the day. It was a rare success for Meta’s original programming, which had struggled to get off the ground. In fact, it was so successful that it got its own spin-off helmed by Gloria Estefan.

However, the show was abruptly canceled in April 2023. It was part of a wider series of cuts as Meta once again diverted resources toward its virtual reality services. Meta canceled all original programming on Facebook Watch to push its VR service, Horizon Worlds. This coincided with multiple rounds of mass layoffs as Meta struggled financially. But it seems that not everyone is upset about the show ending.

Nick Cannon Is Happy That “Red Table Talk” Is Gone

Cannon stirred the pot on his radio show when one of his co-hosts brought up the cancellation. “If there was no ‘Red Table Talk’ then he wouldn’t have slapped the sh*t out of Chris Rock.” Cannon claimed, referring to the viral 2022 Oscars incident. It appears that Cannon is implying that Jada Pinkett Smith was to blame for the jokes that Chris Rock made about her. He was confronted by co-host Abby De La Rosa, who asked him if he was just referring to that one incident. “I’m talking about that toxic table.” De La Rosa shot back that it was an “honest table”, to which Cannon responded, “Too much honesty can get your ass slapped in the face.”

“A good slap is what people need sometimes” De La Rosa retorted as the two hosts squared off. It’s a surprising take from Cannon, who had took a both-sides approach to the slap initially. However, while Cannon respects Will Smith, it appears that he’s doesn’t feel the same away about Jada. However, Cannon has never held back from controversy. In 2018, he dug up problematic tweets from female comedians while defending Kevin Hart. Maybe this is just Cannon’s way of pointing out more double standards. Or maybe he just really hated Red Table Talk.

Jada Pinkett Smith Reflects On Alopecia Diagnosis

The 2022 Oscars stirred up buzz after the Will Smith and Chris Rock scandal. The controversial face slap was publicly circulated, which drew a lot of attention to Jada Pinkett Smith. Suffering from alopecia, an auto-immune disorder that attacks hair follicles, Pinkett-Smith has lost her locks over recent years. But even though she’s constantly in the eyes of the camera, the 51-year-old actress isn’t letting superficial appearances stop her from sharing her beauty with the world.

In an interview with The Guardian, Pinkett Smith shares “I learned a lot about detachment. And I learned a deeper beauty within myself, being able to let my hair go.” She reflects further on her diagnosis calling it “a great teacher. It’s been a hard one, a scary one – because specifically as Black women, we identify so much of ourselves with our hair. And it was scary. I had to really dig deep and see the beauty of myself beyond my aesthetics.”

Jada Pinkett Smith On African Queens: Njinga

The Red Table Talk host certainly hasn’t let Alopecia take over her confidence and continues to empower herself and other women through her work. Her upcoming new documentary series African Queens: Njinga releases this month on Netflix. As the executive producer and narrator, Pinkett Smith explores the life of Queen Njinga of Angola. This series includes interviews with experts alongside historical reenactments and plans to showcase the lives of the most iconic female rulers in Africa. The multi-talented actress is also signed on for a memoir, which will publish this fall.

In light of the upcoming release of African Queens, the mother of two reflects on the power of black women. “In most Black families, the women are the glue. They’re the matriarchs, the weavers of love, the leaders of spiritual knowledge within our homes.” She also recounts the difficulties she has had as a black woman in the entertainment industry, but thanks her grandmother for her success. Pinkett Smith’s grandmother, who primarily raised her, had taught her from a young age to rise above, no matter what challenge may present itself. Despite all of the difficulties Pinkett Smith has faced, there’s no doubt that she has followed her grandmother’s teachings. Be sure to catch African Queens: Njinga airing on February 15th, 2022 on Netflix!

Will Smith To Talk “Emancipation” & Oscars On “Red Table Talk”

It has arguably been one of the most challenging years for Will Smith. The Fresh Prince icon had an almost unblemished record in the entertainment industry—a feat that isn’t easy to accomplish. He is an acclaimed actor with a reputation for being family-friendly, but his Academy Award moment shifted perspectives. Smith infamously slapped Chris Rock earlier this year on the Oscars stage, and he has been speaking freely about the incident in recent weeks.

As Smith promotes his latest film Emancipation, he has been addressing the controversy after months of silence. Now, he joins his family once again on Red Table Talk to detail his transformation for Emancipation and the moment that changed his career forever.

A press release for Wednesday’s (December 14) episode calls the Red Table Talk conversation “deeply intimate and revealing.” This will be the first time several of the Smith family will come together for this personal discussion. The actor reportedly admits that, for the first time in his expansive career, he almost “went too far” and nearly “lost himself.”

“Will shares the biggest revelations of his life, a horrific moment he experienced while filming and a co-star who refused to speak to him,” the press release added.

In a promotional photo of the episode, it’s easy to note that Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, was omitted. He posed will all of his children: Trey, Willow, and Jaden.

The Academy Awards moment between Smith and Rock sparked after the comedian joked about Jada’s bald head. While she didn’t say anything in the broadcast clip, the actress was vilified by the public and several of her peers. The move to not have her participate in the Red Table Talk conversation could be for Smith to detail his feelings without Jada once again unnecessarily taking the blame.

Will Smith’s appearance on Red Table Talk will premiere tomorrow, Dec. 14, on Facebook Watch.

Teddy Riley Opens Up About Not Seeing His Son ‘For Three Years’ in Latest ‘Red Table Talk’ Episode

Teddy Riley takes to Jada Pinkett-Smith’s “Red Table” to discuss his co-parenting relationship with the mother of his youngest son, Mykal Theo Riley.

The New Jack Swing innovator tells Pinkett-Smith and her co-hosts, daughter Willow Smith and mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, that the two configured a contract that he “lived by.”

Riley claims he “did not read” a portion of the agreement that states who gets physical custody of their son. In addition, he opens up about the child support portion of the agreement that states a specific amount that was expected to be split in “half” once his son started first grade.

“So she doesn’t want you to see Mycal because of child support?” asked Pinkett.

“Exactly,” responded Riley.

Check out the exclusive clip here.

The Grammy-winning producer took to Instagram in July to express initial details of his custody battle.

“It’s my baby son’s birthday today and I haven’t seen him in three years plus,” Riley started. “I’ve done everything that I’m supposed to do as a father financially & mentally but because this woman have process evil way, I have to deal with the corrupted government ATL system just to see my son but that will all change.”
