Andre 3000 Claims Flute Album Doesn’t Count Towards Record Deal

Andre 3000 has taken one of the most fascinating left turns in hip hop history. The rapper and former Outkast superstar decided to put the mic down and pick up a flute. The resulting album, New Blue Moon, has sparked widespread debate among listeners. Some consider it a daring musical triumph, others an attempt at being “artsy.” Andre 3000 discussed the album during a recent interview with Toure, and he shed light on a fascinating technicality about the album. A technicality that could pose exciting possibilities for his future.

Andre 3000 explained that New Blue Moon actually didn’t count towards his record deal. It was not an attempt to circumvent the label system, the way that people like Frank Ocean have. Three Stacks was actually confused by this technicality when he discovered it. He told Toure that the label did not view New Blue Moon as a viable commercial product, and therefore did not fulfill the terms of the contract Andre 3000 signed. “You have to have some type of legal stipulation that stops you from doing that,” Three Stacks revealed.

Andre 3000 Plans To Drop New Music In 2025

The rapper’s lawyer told him that the stipulation was brought about in the 1970s. Andre 3000 noted, however, that record label was not critical of his decision to release a jazz flute album. In fact, they were encouraging. “They congratulated me on the process, they congratulated me on what the work was, but contractually, it’s very interesting,” he told Toure. “My label will not count this album against my contract — this is as a solo artist.” The rapper’s revelation is especially interesting given his recent announcement regarding new music.

Andre 3000 was interviewed during the Camp Flog Gnaw Festival, and confirmed that he has new music on the way. He told the interviewer that he intends to drop in 2025, and challenge normal conventions as to how fans consume music. “New music for sure,” he explained. “New ways to distribute and express… I just want to express more.” It’ll be fascinating to see whether Andre’s new music news closer to the hip hop we know and love from him. Pharrell seems to think it will. The fellow creative told GQ that Andre is coming back to rhyming sooner or later, and when he does, it will be “hot.”

6ix9ine Pledges To Stay “Squeaky Clean” After Signing Massive Deal

6ix9ine recently signed a massive deal with Kartel Records that seemingly aims to redirect his career and net him a wild bag. For those unaware, reports on the matter from TMZ indicate that he will receive $1 million to make a Spanish-language, ten-song album and will get $250K for each concert on a wide-spanning tour. All in all, this could net Tekashi around $6 million. But apparently, there’s also a clause in the contract that directs him to stay out of legal trouble as part of their deal. TMZ interviewed the artist to elaborate some more on these contract stipulations.

It’s not a record deal,” 6ix9ine told TMZ, explaining how he sees the actual details of the Kartel Music partnership. “I think that’s what people – it’s an exclusive tour deal that I’m doing in Mexico, South America, and… Central America, South America, United States, and Mexico. Like, the exclusivity deal. Yeah, [there’s going to be a new album], but the album belongs to them. To Kartel Music. Because it’s like Mexican regional music. Like, tumbados and, you know, more – it’s nothing hip-hop.”

6ix9ine Speaks On His Record Deal

Then, the TMZ hosts asked about the clause that prompts him to stay clean and unproblematic, which you most likely think isn’t a characteristic that he’s embodied over the years. “No, [I’m not worried about staying out of trouble],” 6ix9ine answered. “Because, I mean, like, if you know 6ix9ine, you know now, like, I’m squeaky clean. Like, I stay out of trouble. It’s just, trouble seems – its way to find me all the time.” However, with all this as context, there’s no telling how the actual album or tour will shape up. Maybe it’s a big flop or it skyrockets him back into the mainstream consciousness.

Meanwhile, there is still a lot of animosity toward 6ix9ine in popular culture, so many folks couldn’t care less about this news or outright oppose his success. But amid many other conversations around people switching to other genres from hip-hop, as well as wider criticism of clout chasing antics and industry cash cows, his evolution and cultural relevance is still a curious tale to break down. We’ll see if the near future makes this a more critical or accepting conversation…

Tekashi 6ix9ine Signs Massive New Record Deal With Kartel Music

Tekashi 6ix9ine does not have the hit-making capabilities that he once showcased. The rapper used to be able to top the charts with Nicki Minaj and Fetty Wap collabs. The more time that’s passed, though, the harder it’s become for 6ix9ine to generate interest in his music. He’s a celebrity more than an artist. Which is why the rapper felt the need to switch gears and sign a record deal with a brand new label. TMZ confirmed that Tekashi 6ix9ine recently signed to Kartel Music, and plans to drop an album with regional Mexican artists.

Tekashi 6ix9ine’s deal could potentially net him $6 million. His plan is to record an album that appeals to Spanish-language listeners. He also plans to tour it in Mexico, as well as Central and South America. TMZ analyzed the contract, and claimed that the rapper will be paid $1 million to complete an album with ten songs. He will subsequently be paid $250K for each concert date. All added up, this could result in the aforementioned $6 million. An impressive chunk of change for someone who, as was previously stated, has stalled on the hip hop charts. The deal came with specific conditions, however. Tekashi 6ix9ine cannot run into legal troubles, or get arrested, during the making of the album.

This is not the first time Tekashi 6ix9ine has catered to his Latino audience. His dropped a reggaeton album titled Leyenda Viva in 2023. It boasted appearances from stars like Angel Dior, Grupo Firme and Bulin 47. In addition to the album, 6ix9ine recorded collaborations with reggaeton star Anuel AA on his debut English-language album, Dummy Boy, in 2018. He has always been mindful of his worldwide audience, as he told fans via Instagram Live. He called out critics who claimed he switched up for clout. The rapper also asserted that he should be able to cater to different groups.

“You know how many Spanish n**gas is born and raised,” he asserted. “In the whole of New York City? What ya’ll trying to say, Spanish n**gas can’t eat? When you Spanish, you can only make reggaeton? It’s our culture, too, n**ga.” Tekashi 6ix9ine’s Spanish-language music has not been met with critical acclaim. That said, it hasn’t slowed him down. He recently dropped a diss song for his ex-girlfriend in Spanish. His upcoming album is set to be his most concentrated attempt at crossover success yet.

Cardi B Calls Joe Budden A “Hater” For Questioning Drake’s $400M UMG Deal

Today, Cardi B took to Twitter Spaces to put Joe Budden on blast, calling him out for criticizing her on his podcast. During the rant, she claimed that Budden never had anything nice to say about her work, despite him claiming that he’s looking forward to her next album. She also accused him of having received a lap dance from her, doing cocaine, and more.

“I don’t understand why I keep getting harassed by this man,” Cardi explained, urging Budden to leave her alone. “You tear down my single, you tear down my personal life, you tear down everything I f*cking do.” According to Cardi, however, she’s not the only one Budden has been overtly critical of lately.

Cardi B Goes Off On Joe Budden

The “Enough” performer went on to slam Budden for his comments on Drake’s $400M record deal, which he made on his podcast back in April. At the time, he called Drizzy’s tour schedule into question, insisting that nobody at that level would want to tour so much unless they’re contractually obligated to. According to Cardi B, however, she certainly would for that kind of money.

“Stop being a f*cking hater,” she said. “I’ll f*cking tour till I’m 65 if somebody gives me $400M. $400M that you don’t have… Everything that somebody do good, you always hate on it. That’s bad, that’s terrible. You always hating on something.” Cardi continued, noting that there’s a difference between a critic and a hater, and questioning how Budden could possibly find an issue with Drake making hundreds of millions for a tour. What do you think of Cardi B going off on Joe Budden on Twitter Spaces today? What about her calling him a hater for criticizing Drake’s $400M record deal? Does she have a point or not? 😳 Drake Is Bigger Than The “60s, 70s, And 80s Combined,” Gamma CEO Larry Jackson Claims

It goes without saying that Drake will go down in history as one of the most commercially successful artists of his generation. According to Larry Jackson, however, he’s also seen much more success than a lot of his predecessors combined. During a recent conversation with Joe Budden, the Gamma CEO discussed the hitmaker’s record deal. He chose to plead the fifth when it came to the podcast host’s question about how it must make his peers feel, opting to “display good cultural etiquette.”

Budden went on to ask Jackson directly about his theory that Drake is a part-owner of Gamma, which he first brought forth amid the infamous “20 V. 1” beef in April. He speculated that this could be the cause of all of the tension between him and other artists, and the reason he continues to promote artists on the platform’s roster.

Larry Jackson & Joe Budden Discuss Drake’s Record Deal

Of course, Jackson also refused to answer this question directly, though he did go on to make a shocking statement about Drake’s commercial value as an artist. According to him, he’s bigger than all artists of the 60s, 70s, and 80s combined. “I don’t mean like one artist from that era,” he explained. “I mean all of those eras combined.”

“All the things that we achieved when I was at Apple,” he added, “with the individual that you’re noting, imbued me with the confidence and the courage of my conviction to go out and do what we’re doing right now. Can you put a price tag on that, can you put a value on that? No, you can’t.” What do you think of Joe Budden and Larry Jackson’s recent conversation about Drake’s record deal? What about Jackson refusing to share his take on how Drizzy’s peers might feel about it? Are you surprised he said that Drake is bigger than all artists of the 60s, 70s, and 80s combined? Sukihana Clarifies What She Meant When She Said She “Sold Her Soul”

Sukihana is an artist who has exploded in popularity over the last couple of years. Overall, she has blown up thanks to the recent wave of raunchy rap that is extremely sexual in nature. Her and Sexyy Red are at the top of this lane right now, and fans have grown acustom to their outlandish lyrics. Sure, she might be polarizing, but if you want to be successful in 2024, that’s kind of the cheat code. Having said that, it hasn’t always been easy for Suki.

In a video posted to her social media in 2019, the artist was ready to quit music altogether. In fact, she came out and said that she had signed a horrible record deal and that she had ultimately sold her soul. Selling ones soul is a concept that has existed forever, and there is debate around what it actually means. Well, in an interview with Math Hoffa on My Expert Opinion, Suki got to clarify her statement. Essentially, she just meant that she was in a bad deal that didn’t give her ownership over her own work.

Sukihana Speaks To Math Hoffa

“I was in a street, hood contract,” she explained. “I was in a bad contract. That’s what I meant, but people take it out of proportion. I feel like if you do sign a contract and you don’t own a lot of your stuff, I feel like that’s selling out, that’s selling your sold.” Suki then went on to say that she is no longer in this deal. Instead, she is doing well for herself, and is excited to move forward with her current career. It’s always good to see an artist win, and we hope Suki is able to have continued success.

Let us know what you think of these comments, down below. Do you believe that the music industry is as predatory as some artists describe? Also, what do you think of Sukihana and her music, especially in light of the wave that has been started by herself and Sexyy Red? Naomi Sharon Goes Viral After Fans Realize She’s Signed To Drake

Naomi Sharon arrived on the scene in 2019, and immediately drew comparisons to Sade. Not only in terms of her production choices and lovesick subject matter, but her sultry vocals. “Breeze” and “The Moon” were chilled-out singles that split the difference between pop and R&B. Sharon hasn’t broken through the way that peers like Jorja Smith and Snoh Aalegra have, but she drew lots of attention on social media recently. It wasn’t to discuss her music so much as her label situation. Despite not being considered a household name, Sharon is signed to one of the biggest artists in the world: Drake.

Not only is Naomi Sharon the first female artist signed to OVO Sound, she’s the only one. She’s the first lady of the label, as evidenced by her debut album, Obsidian. The thing that caught most fans off guard was the fact that Drake has rarely discussed Sharon or her music publicly. He signed her to the label in 2023 but the two have never collaborated. For an artist like Drake, who has a track record of working with singers in Sharon’s style, this was odd.

Naomi Sharon Has Never Collaborated With Drake

Fans took to the Instagram comment section to voice their confusion over Drake’s decision to promote artists outside of his label. “Why would he promote [Sexxy] Red and not his own artist,” one user asked. Another accused Drake of always putting his own music first, and failing to do the legwork to make sure his OVO artists get the exposure they need to pop. “If y’all learned nothing Drake don’t do the foot work for his artist,” they reasoned. “He makes them get it out the mud and uses them for his own albums and needs.”

Naomi Sharon talked about working with OVO during an interview with NME. She noted that they have a very “easy going” atmosphere in the studio, but that she had to request a goal so that she knew what to aim for in terms of song amount and due date. “I was like, ‘No, I need a goal,’” she said. “I was planning to go to Toronto for three weeks to record a little bit… We ended up in the studio making a song every day, which is very special.” While the working process may have been tricky, Sharon did state that her label boss has been helpful as a mentor. “Drake is one example of being an icon and doing the right things with music,” she told Clash. “He gives good advice.”

Hopefully this recent attention will lead to Sharon and Drake linking up on a song.

Fredro Starr Recalls Suge Knight’s Death Row Offer, 2Pac’s Cryptic Warning

It’s no secret that 2Pac was once the face of Death Row Records, but according to Fredro Starr, the late icon did everything in his power to keep him from the same fate. During a recent interview with The Art of Dialogue, Fredro recalled spending time with 2Pac and Suge Knight at the premiere of his 1996 film, Sunset Park. After they all watched the movie, Suge asked Fredro to chat privately, and later ended up making him a serious offer.

“So me, 2Pac and Suge Knight, we take a walk, just us three,” Fredro explained. “Then Suge was like, ‘I want to sign you to Death Row.’ And I’m like, ‘Huh? What are you talking about?’ Suge Knight had a reputation for being…when I talked about energy, ‘Pac is the sun, Suge Knight is the moon. He got the dark energy. So when he was like, ‘I want to sign you to Death Row,’ I got kind of shook.”

Fredro Starr Recalls 2Pac’s Warning

“I was like, ‘But I’m already signed to Def Jam.’ I was trying to figure my way out the sh*t. ‘Nah, don’t worry about that. I’ll figure that sh*t out. I know [Jam Master] Jay. I know Russell [Simmons]. I’ll take care of that. Ain’t nothing to worry about,’” he continued. It was then that he shared a look with 2Pac, and the hitmaker’s face said it all.

“[T]he n***a 2Pac was looking at me, he was giving me that side-eye. He wasn’t encouraging the sh*t. He wasn’t like, ‘Yeah, n***a! Sign with Death Row, n***a! We got it popping!’ I didn’t hear none of that from that n***a. That n***a was quiet,” he said. “[He was giving me a look like], ‘You don’t want to do this, my brother. Stay where you at, my n***a.’” What do you think of Fredro Starr claiming 2Pac warned him not to sign to Death Row with a simple facial expression? Are you surprised? Blueface Has A Blunt Message For Columbia Records: “You Guys Work For Us”

Blueface has been looking to make some mogul moves as of late. Overall, he has been able to do just that with his new imprint, MILF Music. The new label is part of Columbia Records, and one of his first signees is his fiancee, Jaidyn Alexis. She has already dropped a couple of tracks, and fans have been praising them. Although Alexis is still very early in her music endeavors, there is a lot of potential there. Consequently, Columbia Records had her and Blueface in their offices yesterday, where they signed official paperwork.

When we reported on this, we noted how Alexis and Blueface seemed to be very excited while in the office. They noted just how great this was, and the employees at Columbia also seemed to be eager to get started on this endeavor. However, as Blueface noted during the meeting, he holds the power. Or, that is at least what he wants the label to believe. In the clip below, he claims to own Columbia Records. He also says all of the employees in the room work for him now.

Blueface Makes A Toast

“Shout out to your music,” Blueface said. “Being the marketing and budget behind Jaidyn so Columbia can see what we doing. I want to go far, I want to go to the top, I want this to never stop. I f*cking own you guys now, you guys work for us. Raise your hand if you work for MILF Music.” Everyone raised their glass to these words, which was probably a good feeling for the rapper.

It will be interesting to see where this endeavor goes from here. If one thing is for certain, however, it is that Blueface is very confident in what he has going on right now. Let us know what you think of MILF Music, in the comments section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more news and updates from around the music world. Blueface & Jaidyn Alexis Sign Deal With Columbia Records: Watch

Despite Chrisean Rock’s best efforts to capture Blueface’s attention over the past few weeks, the 26-year-old is fully focusing on the future of his first baby mama, Jaidyn Alexis. The parents of two have been together on and off since high school but only got engaged this past weekend. Interestingly, the “Thotiana” rapper got down on one knee shortly owing an astounding $13 million in damages over last year’s strip club shooting.

As if all of that weren’t enough for a few days worth of drama, Alexis and her man upped the ante with a trip to Columbia Records on Tuesday (October 24). From the looks of things, Blue’s MILF Music and the longstanding media behemoth are coming together to support the “Stewie” hitmaker as she continues to grow and evolve as an artist. It’s unclear exactly what the terms of her new contract are, but we’re certainly eager to see what she’ll be cooking up next in the studio.

Alexis and Blue were looking fresh for their meeting with Columbia execs. The rap diva showed off her curves in a blue two-piece suit, flaunting her growing wealth with a stack of chains around her next. For his part, the reality star kept it more casual in jeans and a sweater – not wanting to outshine his other half. Some have suggested that Blue only proposed to Jaidyn so that her income can help to pay off his multi-million dollar debt, but others are praising the 26-year-old for putting his baby mama on.

Against all odds, Jaidyn Alexis has gone on to make a name for herself as an artist, largely thanks to help from her baby daddy. Many are speculating that Blueface was the one who wrote the lyrics to her latest viral hit, “Barbie,” despite him constantly denying it.
