Slim Thug Says Submersible Victims Were “On Some D*mb Sh*t”

The hunt for the missing Titan submersible ended with the announcement that all five men on board had perished. The United States Coast Guard believe that the undersea vehicle suffered a cataphoric hull breach, causing the vehicle to implode under the deep sea pressure. The news came on June 22, a few hours after it was believed the submersible’s oxygen reserve had been depleted. Much has been made of the gross corporate negligence that lead to the disaster. The Titan was reportedly built from carbon fiber purchased from Boeing as it had passed its expiry date to be considered fit to be used in aircraft.

Furthermore, there were comments from OceanGate’s CEO dismissing the importance of safety, while also firing individuals who raised safety concerns. Furthermore, the company circumvented maritime classification regulations because, by their own admission, the vessel would not even meet the most basic criteria for classification. Finally, there are the passengers, who looked at this project with all its glaring flaws and still willingly paid $250k each to get on board. There are more than a few people who don’t have anything resembling sympathy for those who died.

Slim Thug Slams OceanGate Victims

Rapper Slim Thug is one of those people. “Them people gone man. I don’t know what they was thinking about a billionaire should have had more common sense, and then you bring your son? That was double d*mb. I’m not sure what happened, but them people don’t deserve our sympathy they clearly on some d*mb shit. That was some d*mb shit…save your heart and your thoughts for people that really deserve them. Some people be on some d*mb shit man.”

He continued. “Some people just be on some d*mb shit. Some people you gotta just say, ‘why the fuck this d*mb motherfucker do some d*mb shit like that? It don’t make no fucking sense. So I ain’t feeling sorry for them. Y’all can be as mad as y’all want at me, I ain’t feeling sorry for them. They can’t get my sorry. You don’t do no d*mb shit like that.” Furthermore, it has been revealed that OceanGate was using the Titanic tours to prove their tech was safe to use. This was reportedly in order to elicit bulk orders from oil and gas companies. However, what do you think? Let us know in the comments. Follow all the latest news here at HotNewHipHop.

Quincy Jones Briefly Hospitalized

Quincy Jones is a music legend. His career dates back to the 1950s, when he toured Europe with Lionel Hampton. However, Jones is best known for his work as a cinematic score composer, iconic music producer, and veteran pillar of the music industry. This cinematic work includes classics like The Italian Job, The Wiz, and The Color Purple. Furthermore, Jones has three of the components of the EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) crown. He won an Emmy for Roots in 1977, has 28 Grammys, and won a Tony for The Color Purple revival in 2016. While he has won a Humanitarian Award at the Oscars, he is 0-7 in main award nominations. His last Oscar nomination came in 1986 for The Color Purple, when he was nominated for three awards.

Jones has been a public figure for several decades now. Carson Daly went as far as to suggest that Jones become the Minister/Secretary of Culture under President Obama. The United States, along with Germany, are some of the only nations in the world that do not have a government-level office that focuses on culture. However, Jones made headlines on June 18 for much more serious, and worrying, reasons.

According to TMZ, Jones was briefly hospitalized after suffering an adverse reaction to food at his Los Angeles home. Jones called 911 after suffering a reaction and was accompanied to the hospital by paramedics for further testing. However, he was reportedly given the all-clear soon after arriving and was discharged on Saturday evening.

Furthermore, representatives for the 28-time Grammy winner told TMZ that the legendary producer never lost consciousness. Additionally, they said that Jones was in “great spirits” by the time he was discharged. Jones turned 90 this past March and his advanced age was part of the reason that additional care needed to be taken in this case. However, Jones is now at home and reportedly suffering no additional effects from the reaction. Follow all the latest news here at HotNewHipHop.

Stephen A. Smith Slams Ja Morant’s Suspension Apology

Ja Morant has been suspended for 25 games by the NBA. While the punishment for flashing a gun on Instagram Live feels light to some, Morant will be sidelined until at least early December. However, the 25-game suspension is in line with both what pundits expected and how the NBA has treated suspensions in recent years. Miles Bridges was suspended for 30 games in April after pleading no contest to felony domestic violence charges.

In the wake of the suspension announcement, Morant released a statement. “I’m spending the offseason and my suspension continuing to work on my own mental health and decision making. I’m also going to be training so that I’m ready to go when I can be back on the court. I know my teammates are going to hold it down and I’m so sorry I won’t be out there with you at the beginning of the season. I hope you’ll give me the chance to prove to you over time I’m a better man than what I’ve been showing you,” the statement read in part.

Stephen A. Doesn’t Buy Morant Apology

“Nobody believes you,” Stephen A. Smith began on First Take. “Nobody believes you. I don’t say that flippantly, I’m a fan of Ja Morant. He’s a superstar that I want this game to celebrate for years and years to come. Me, speaking for everybody here, I believe, not just here at ESPN but in the world of sports. Why would we root against you because it’s better for all of us that you put your greatness on display with no troubles whatsoever because I belive this man is going to win a championship some day.”

He continued. “The reason why you’re not believed is because you already lied. [Morant’s statement] sounds somewhat similar to what you already said on camera months ago with your first suspension. You have to understand that you’re not believed, nobody believes you. You’re at a show and prove point. We know what you can do on the basketball court. But now it’s a show and prove point when it comes to your character. Because you not only looked Adam Silver in the face. You went on national TV, got interviewed by Jalen Rose, and you clearly lied. We hope you’re telling the truth. But if you ask someone to bet money on the veracity and truthfulness of your word…ain’t nobody betting money on that, bro.”

Charleston White Reacts To Boosie Badazz Arrest: “God Done Gave You What You Asked For”

It’s been a tough week for Boosie Badazz. The controversial lyricist was the only artist to show up in Broward County court to support YNW Melly amid his double murder trial. His presence wasn’t entirely surprising seeing as he previously beat similar accusations of his own. After a few days watching Boosie made it known that he’d like to try his hand at studying law. Shortly after sharing that message to his Instagram page, the father of eight was arrested by federal agents on Wednesday (June 14) outside of a court hearing in San Diego, California.

As HipHopDX notes, Boosie appeared before a judge regarding his charges from May. At the time he was filming a music video with Billy Three. During a traffic stop, police officers uncovered two handguns in his vehicle and booked him on person with felony convictions in possession of a firearm, concealed carry weapon in a vehicle, possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, and unlisted owner of a registered firearm. Those have since been dismissed, though it still remains unclear what the feds picked him up on this time. As the news continues to circulate online, reactions have been pouring in from all over – including a highly anticipated one from Charleston White.

Boosie Badazz’s Federal Arrest Leaves Charleston White Laughing

“You done got away with five murders, and everybody says that VladTV is the feds. ‘He ain’t got me locked up!’” Boosie’s longtime nemesis laughed in a viral video. “Now, God done also gave you what you asked for. You want to be a hero to the streets? You want to be a street prophet? So God needs a Daniel. And who better to play Daniel than you?” White continued, comparing the Baton Rouge native to the Biblical character.

“Since you so muthaf**king gangsta and you got all these gangsta codes and ethics, put your suit on like Melle Mel, ni**a, ’cause you ’bout to be sentenced,” the 52-year-old comedian predicted. “When the feds come, they don’t come just to be — ‘Oops, I made a mistake!’ No, when the feds show up, they done dotted their i’s, crossed their t’s, and they know they got you.” In other news, Boosie Badazz isn’t the only one to feel Charleston White’s wrath as of late. Back in May, the reformed gang member called child protective service on rising star Finesse2tymes. Draymond Green Clowns On Karl-Anthony Towns For “Changed The Game” Quote

Karl-Anthony Towns certainly doesn’t lack confidence. Drafted in 2015 out of Kentucky, Towns won Rookie of the Year in 2016. Since then, he has become a three-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA Third Team member. At the time of writing, Towns is averaging a career double-double with an average of 23 points and 11.2 rebounds per game. However, his 2022-23 season was limited to just 29 games due to injury.

While the Timberwolves have never been a contender during Towns’ time on the team, things do appear to be trending upward. 2022-23 marked the first time that the team made the playoffs in back-to-back seasons since 2004. However, the appearance marked just the third postseason of Towns’ career. Despite this, Towns raised some eyebrows with a bold claim. Appearing on Patrick Beverley’s podcast, Towns claimed that once his career is over, people will say that he “changed the game.”

Draymond Green Reacts To Towns Quote

It’s a bold claim to be sure. Towns is often an outsider in conversations about the NBA’s best center. Furthermore, the position is firmly dominated by the likes of Embiid and Jokić. Objectively speaking, Towns is going to have to do a lot more in the rest of his career to be seen as anything more as a solid NBA player and the best player during a down era for the Timberwolves. A major figure not buying the hype was Draymond Green. The Warriors veteran has never let comments like this pass him by. Additionally, Green has often been vocal about Towns in the past.

Taking to Twitter, Green retweeted a Bleacher Report post about highlighting Towns’ quote. “aye @patbev21 when people come on yo show they change the game!!l?!? 🤯🤯🤯 I’m looking forward to it man,” Green added in a quote-tweet. It’s a hilarious dismissal of Towns’ chest-pounding that only Green could pull off. Green and Towns have faced each other 17 times in the NBA, with Green currently holding an 11-6 record in those games. Do you think Towns is writing checks his career can’t cash? Should Patrick Beverley have Draymond Green on his podcast? Let us know in the comments. Follow all the latest sports news here at HotNewHipHop.

Soulja Boy’s Hilarious Live Stream With TikTok Star Terri Joe, She Says He Ate Her Out

Soulja Boy, whether intentionally or not, has been one of the funniest rappers for his reactions and antics. Most recently, his latest live stream resulted in some hilarious reactions from him and viewers thanks to a conversation with TikTok star Terri Joe. Moreover, it involved a funny story from her about an alleged encounter they had after one of his Louisiana shows. The 32-year-old could not believe his ears as Terri went on, but at least he let her go on without much interruption.

“You came to Louisiana one time, you were doing a show down here, and then I went to one of your shows on accident because I thought it was a church meeting,” she recalled to Soulja Boy. “‘Cause it said Soulja. I thought it was the troops and stuff, but apparently it was you. I came and there was a lot of people of color there and I was a little scared. And then you pointed me out in the crowd ’cause I was in a wheelchair, and you said to come up on stage with me… I started laughing and giggling, and then you gave me a shot of Patron and a Percocet.

“Then you were like, ‘You wanna come backstage with me?’” Terri Joe continued. “I went backstage and you sat me on the couch in the little backstage area and gave me a few snacks and stuff. And then, if I remember correctly, you said, ‘Let me taste that a**’ and I said, ‘Well, come and taste it.’ And then you took me out the wheelchair, put me on to the couch and you ate my a**.”

“What?!” the rapper exclaimed. “I don’t even do Percocet! What city was this? No, I don’t even do that! I ain’t never been [to New Orleans] before.” Furthermore, they went on to argue a little more about how he could’ve never been to New Orleans and whether she was lying or not. Even though it made for a funny moment, it does come days after he requested a retrial in his alleged assault and kidnapping case. His romantic tendencies are pretty under fire as a result, but at least this gave us some funny images to include. For more news and the latest updates on Soulja Boy, come back to HNHH.

Boosie Badazz Reacts To YFN Lucci’s Plea Deal Offer

Boosie Badazz recently shared his opinion on Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis offering YFN Lucci a plea deal. Earlier today, it was revealed that the rapper has chosen to turn down the deal. This means that he’s now headed to trial to fight the RICO charges. The deal would see Lucci serve 17 years behind bars if he had accepted. He would have had to plead guilty to felony murder, racketeering, aggravated assault, and violation of the street gang terrorism and prevention act.

On Instagram Live, Boosie claims that he knows Lucci doesn’t deserve the charges he’s been hit with. He explains that Lucci “goes home every night to his family,” saying that he’s “doing none of that sh*t [that he’s accused of].” Boosie also says, “it’s a bad RICO, dog.” He goes on to question statements made by a witness, claiming that they sound as though they’ve been paid.

Boosie Says Witness Sounds “Paid”

Lucci’s attorneys, Drew Findling and Gabe Banks, told TMZ that they believe the plea deal offered was “absurd.” They also claimed the DA is prioritizing “newer, high-profile cases that have completely monopolized the Court’s resources” over Lucci’s case. The attorneys noted the DA’s “utter inability to prosecute complex cases.” Lucci has denied his charges, and now he plans to fight them. His attorneys say, “Despite the obstacles consistently placed in the way of Mr. Bennett’s constitutional right to a speedy and fair trial, we continue to be ready and prepared to defend these false allegations.”

Despite speculation that he may choose to do so, Lucci refused to testify against Young Thug amid his own RICO charges in March. Earlier this week, it was reported that Young Thug, Gunna, and Lil Baby were added to the witness list in the YFN RICO trial. Gunna has faced a massive amount of public backlash following his decision to accept a plea deal in the YSL RICO trial. Since his release from prison, he’s been dealing with rampant accusations that he “snitched” on Young Thug.

“The Idol” Praise: Sharon Stone Applauds The Weeknd & Lily-Rose Depp As HBO Series Slammed For Nudity

The Idol‘s big debut at Cannes Film Festival last week made one thing abundantly clear – not everyone is a fan of The Weeknd’s first TV series. The Canadian multi-talent stars in the new HBO series alongside 23-year-old Lily-Rose Depp, who’s pulled into the cult-like world of fame and fortune to fulfill her dreams of becoming a massive pop star. The previously released trailers have hinted that plenty of salacious content is in store, and the fact that Euphoria director Sam Levinson is also on board led viewers to go in with an “expect the unexpected” mindset.

Still, it seems many were left upset by the near-constant nude imagery of Depp, whose breasts and bottom are reportedly shown off in every episode. For the most part, the negative reactions have outweighed the positive ones. However, Hollywood icon Sharon Stone’s Instagram Story lit up with praise for The Idol and its leads. “I just watched the first two episodes of @theidol. @lilyrose_depp and Abel (@theweeknd) [are] so sure-footed,” she wrote a few days ago.

Sharon Stone Shares Massive Praise for The Idol

“Sam Levinson addresses the root of crisis in entertainment,” the 65-year-old further remarked. “Which comes first, the brilliance? Or the heartache?” Obviously, not everyone agrees with her take. However, seeing as Stone has appeared in projects like Catwoman, The Quick and the Dead, Casino, and the Basic Instinct franchise throughout her career, she certainly knows a thing or two about the industry and its shadow side.

Interestingly enough, it was actually Stone’s Basic Instinct character who Depp drew on for inspiration, as the young starlet told Entertainment Tonight. Rather than directly taking influence from pop stars who already exist, she also looked at figures like Gene Tierney and Lauren Bacalls. HBO’s The Idol is set to premiere next Sunday (June 4). Will you be tuning into The Weeknd’s scandalous new series? Let us know in the comments, and check back later for more pop culture/music news updates.

Halle Bailey Cried Seeing Young Black Girls’ Reaction To “The Little Mermaid”

Disney initially announced the casting of Halle Bailey as the lead in their live-action remake of The Little Mermaid in 2019. Unfortunately, since Halle is a black woman, it ignited a firestorm of controversy. Her community understandably rejoiced at the success of the talented 23-year-old. However, racists took to social media to spew their objections towards the push for diversity. Yara Shadidi faced a similar backlash when she landed the role of Tinkerbell in Peter Pan & Wendy. However, both young actresses have skillfully silenced their critics with their exceptional performances.

After much anticipation, Bailey’s debut film finally premiered in Hollywood earlier this month, marking a significant milestone in her career. The general public has had to wait a bit longer to watch it. However, a select group of celebrity friends, including Offset, Chlöe Bailey, and Kelly Rowland, were personally invited to an exclusive early screening. Many influential figures were able to attend the premiere. Afterward, many took to Twitter to share their enthusiastic thoughts on The Little Mermaid.

With the release of The Little Mermaid drawing near, Halle Bailey is looking back at her remarkable journey, emotion-filled journey. Her audition for the lead role was reportedly so powerful that it brought everyone in the room to tears. The film has sparked many important discussions about representation. Over the last few months, Bailey’s resilience has shone through. Despite facing backlash, she found strength in her grandparents’ words of encouragement. They expressed how her portrayal would empower their community. They said she would inspire young black and brown girls to see themselves represented in a meaningful way. Their support has fueled Bailey’s determination to make a lasting impact through her role in the film.

In a recent interview with Glamour, Halle opened up about seeing videos of young black girls reacting to her as Ariel. “When I saw those for the first time, I just cried,” she told the magazine. “I was sobbing uncontrollably. The fact that these babies are looking at me and feeling the emotions that they’re feeling is a really humbling, beautiful thing.” The actress will no doubt continue to inspire more children when the film opens this week. Stay tuned to HNHH for all the latest news on Halle Bailey and make sure to let us know what you think in the comments!

Ice Cube On AI Music: “I Don’t Wanna Hear That Bullshit”

While the recent advancements in technology certainly have their benefits, it’s hard to deny that some of them are terrifying. Over the past few months, an increased number of artificial intelligence-generated music has been coming to the forefront, whether in the form of artists covering unlikely songs (such as Drake on Ice Spice’s “Munch (Feelin’ U)”) or using the voices of dead rhymers to cover tracks from other artists made long after their passing. We’ve heard several public figures using their platform to voice the dangers of AI. The latest is Ice Cube, who candidly shared his opinion during this past Friday’s (May 19) episode of the Full Send podcast.

After one of the hosts asked the NWA alum if he heard the recently circulating The Weeknd and Drake AI collaboration, Cube made it abundantly clear that he “doesn’t want to hear” such things. When it was argued that “everyone on the internet” has been listening to the track, the Californian shot back, “Yeah, I don’t wanna hear that bullshit. He should sue whoever made it.” When it was suggested that the technology is coming for his career too, he made it known that he won’t hesitate to take legal action against anyone who tries.

Ice Cube isn’t Feeling Music’s AI Advancements

“Yeah, and I’mma sue the muthaf*cka who made it and the people and the platform who play it,” the “No Vaseline” hitmaker declared. “It’s like a sample, you know what I mean? Somebody can’t take your original voice and manipulate it without having to pay.”

As HipHopDX notes, others who have spoken out about their issues with AI lately include will.i.am. “We all have voices, and everyone’s compromised because there are no rights or ownership to your facial math or your voice frequency,” he told DJ Whoo Kid on SiriusXM, addressing the dangers that face everyday people too. “So, forget songs. Banks. People calling up your bank pretending to be you.”
