Celebrity Thanksgiving Meals: Tory Lanez, R. Kelly, And Suge Knight All Eat Pumpkin Pie In Prison

When the holiday season rolls around in the final months of the year, it’s hard not to find yourself in a festive mood – even from behind bars. Several famous faces know that all too well after spending several years locked up in prison, but others, like Tory Lanez, are spending their first-ever Thanksgiving in the slammer. The Canadian got a taste of Christmas while incarcerated in 2022, but this time around, he’s getting the full experience, and TMZ managed to get the details on what he’s eating to celebrate the annual holiday.

Much like his listeners, Lanez indulged in some roast turkey, mashed potatoes, and gravy on Thursday (November 23). Other fixings on the menu at California Correctional Institution Tehachapi include cornbread dressing, diced carrots, a dinner roll, green salad, cranberry sauce, and of course, pumpkin for dessert. While he’s serving his time at San Diego’s Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility, the outlet notes that Suge Knight ate the same meal as the “Say It” hitmaker.

R. Kelly Spends Another Thanksgiving Behind Bars

Elsewhere, R. Kelly has become a seasoned pro at prison Thanksgiving by now. He’s staying at North Carolina’s FCI Butner Medium I, where he was fed roast turkey, baked candied sweet potatoes, cornbread dressing, green beans, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, and pie. In addition to the festive meal, prisoners at various institutes were also partaking in games like bingo, checkers, chess, and relay races to help brighten their moods.

Celebrities spending their holiday season behind bars have little say in what meals they’ll be indulging in, but those on the outside aren’t just sharing photos of their plates with fans on Instagram. For the 2023 season, Quavo is going all out by sharing a cookbook full of family recipes with us. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

R. Kelly Files Lawsuit Against Bureau of Prisons Alleging Personal Information Leak

R.Kelly

R. Kelly is taking legal action against the Bureau of Prisons, filing a lawsuit claiming that his personal details were leaked by prison staff. This breach of confidentiality has reportedly impacted the R&B star’s ability to defend himself, raising serious concerns about privacy and protecting sensitive information.

R. Kelly’s Lawyer Speaks

In the aftermath of the Chicago trial, a lawsuit has been filed by R. Kelly against the federal government and the Bureau of Prisons, accusing them of leaking his personal information.

The lawsuit, filed with the U.S. District Court of Northern Illinois, alleges unauthorized access to his personal information and calls, including conversations with his attorneys. According to Kelly’s attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, certain officers within the Bureau of Prisons exploited their privileged access to the star’s details. According to Bonjean:

“He had every right to be able to be confident, to think the BOP would protect his information and not exploit, but unfortunately, certain BOP officers did just that.”

Who is Responsible?

The lawsuit claims that at least 60 Bureau of Prisons officers made unauthorized access to Kelly’s sensitive and confidential information, which was maintained by the Bureau.

The leaked information reportedly included personal calls, including conversations with his legal team, thereby jeopardizing his ability to mount a proper defense. As a result, Kelly has become reluctant to engage in discussions with anyone, including his own lawyers. Bonjean emphasized the impact of this breach, stating:

“He does not feel comfortable to this day talking to anyone, even his own lawyers, because of the impact of this event.”

R. Kelly’s Sisters Stand With Him

Kelly’s sisters also spoke out against the violation of his privacy. Lisa Kelly expressed her discontent, saying:

“You’re listening to personal phone calls. You’re listening to recordings. That’s not right. That doesn’t sit well with me at all.”

Cassandra Kelly echoed similar concerns, emphasizing the need for change in the judicial system.

“If they do it to him, they could do it to someone else. It’s time for change in our judicial system.”

R. Kelly is currently serving a 20-year sentence out-of-state for producing child pornography and enticing a minor in sexual activity. He is also appealing these convictions, as well as a conviction in New York for sex trafficking and racketeering.

R. Kelly Sues Federal Prison System for Leaking His Private Information to Tasha K

R. Kelly's Lawyer

R. Kelly has initiated a lawsuit against the Federal Bureau of Prisons, claiming the agency leaked his private information to Tasha K.

The suit was filed in Chicago gedeal court, stating an agent at the Bureau of Prisons accessed the singer’s prison records, which also had phone calls with his lovers and lawyers, and sold them to Tasha K. Tasha K then used them online to her followers.

“The defendant United States of America breached its duty of care to the plaintiff when it allowed countless BOP officers to access plaintiff’s confidential information without any legal basis to do so,” Kelly’s lawyer Jennifer Bonjean filed, according to Billboard.

Tasha K is also listed in the suit, stating she used her following to “harass the plaintiff” and caused “chaos in the plaintiff’s personal life.”

The suit also states that R. Kelly is fearful of speaking with his team due to the possibility it could be “released to the general public for mass exploitation.”

In August, R. Kelly wrapped up his current restitution bill. Following his high-profile criminal cases, Kelly still owed $506,950.26 to his victims. His next royalty check will cover the bill.

According to TMZ, Universal Music Group’s upcoming payout to R. Kelly would be 567,444.19, more than enough to cover his remaining bill. Before the remainder would make its way elsewhere, UMG will now direct a check to his restitution.

This past July, R. Kelly called out his longtime friend being blocked from visiting him at FCI Butner prison. Kelly states his friend and former business manager Derrel McDavid attempted to visit him, but the warden would not allow it.

McDavid was a co-defendant with R. Kelly in his Illinois criminal case. The charge they jointly faced was dismissed.

According to Radar Online, McDavid was accused of coordinating hush money payments before the 2008 trial.

A motion filed in court reads, “Mr. McDavid and Mr. Kelly have maintained a longstanding friendship and business relationship spanning decades before Mr. Kelly’s incarceration.”

The warden declined the visit stating McDavid was a co-defendant. Representatives for Kelly added, “FCI Butner’s denial of visitation was inconsistent with Bureau of Prison (“BOP”) regulations and policies, patently unreasonable, and advanced no legitimate penological interest.”

He added, “FCI Butner’s determination is patently unreasonable, capricious, and inconsistent with the directives and policies of the federal regulations. There is absolutely no risk—let alone a reasonable one—that a visitation by Mr. McDavid would create a threat to the security and good order of the FCI Butner.”

Previously, audio from prison has R. Kelly referencing the harsh conditions of his prison. In the audio, Kelly stated he deserves to die of natural causes. The singer is reportedly battling blood clots in his legs.

“I don’t deserve to die because somebody miscommunicated or somebody took a guess at what’s going on with my leg. I’m not supposed to die this way,” R. Kelly said. “You’re not even supposed to take a chance on that.”

He added, “And that’s why I’m speaking out on this because I’m scared for my life in that area. And who wouldn’t be? They treat animals better than that.”

R. Kelly Beat Wallo In Prison Talent Show, Gillie Da Kid Claims

Gillie Da Kid is having a bit of fun on social media. In the wild world of hip-hop and street legends, there’s no shortage of stories and surprising journeys to the top. Wallo 267, now a celebrated motivational speaker and the charismatic host of the viral podcast Million Dollaz Worth of Game, is no exception to this rule. Moreover, before he became a public figure in the culture, he did time. In fact, he served a 20-year sentence in the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections for an armed robbery conviction. Wallo’s life story took a sharp turn as he entered prison at the tender age of 17 and emerged as a free man at 37. This was documented in a Change.org petition. Currently, he’s navigating the terrain of probation, and his tales from behind bars have become legendary. They’ve been featured as hilarious segments on his popular podcast.

However, Gillie Da Kid, a Philly rap figure who’s no stranger to the industry, and part of the Major Figgas group with Wallo, recently took to social media for some playful fun at his cousin’s expense. Gillie da King is playfully poking fun at his cousin Wallo for his extensive prison term. Gillie humorously captioned an Instagram post featuring R. Kelly singing “Bump and Grind,” suggesting that Wallo’s prison talent show wins might not have continued if R. Kelly were his competition. Regardless of how entertaining Wallo’s performances were. This lighthearted banter showcases the strong family bond and the unique humor within the hip-hop community.

@wallo267 won 3 straight prison talent shows he wouldn’t of won a 4th with R in there I don’t care how much twerking Lo Did,” he wrote. Gillie shared an Instagram post featuring R. Kelly, the R&B maestro, belting out his classic hit “Bump and Grind” acapella. It’s clear that the two never miss an opportunity to tease each other. However, in this case, Gillie playfully suggests that Wallo’s prison talent show victories might have met their match if he had to contend with R. Kelly’s vocals behind bars.

It’s all in good fun, and this light-hearted banter between the two cousins showcases the resilience, humor, and camaraderie that exists within the hip-hop community. Even when recounting tales of life behind prison walls. Wallo’s journey from incarceration to podcast stardom is nothing short of inspirational, and it’s heartwarming to see his family members, like Gillie, celebrating his success with a sprinkle of humor.

Tinashe Calls It ‘So Embarrassing’ That She’s Collaborated With Chris Brown And R. Kelly, And She Explained Why She Did

Tinashe just released her new album, BB/Ang3l, but if you dig back further into the archives, there’s some work that she’s not proud of. Specifically, she recently spoke about her “embarrassing” collaborations with Chris Brown and R. Kelly (“Player” and “Let’s Be Real Now,” respectively, both from when she was signed with RCA Records in 2015).

In an interview on the Zach Sang Show yesterday (September 13), Tinashe was asked if her collaborations with Brown and Kelly were among “things that felt label-y,” meaning things she was essentially forced to do. She laughed and responded, “You think I wanted to? [laughs] I literally… I block out that R. Kelly song from my mind. I forget that it even exists. That is so embarrassing. That is so unreal that I even have a song with R. Kelly. That’s so embarrassing. Yes, that was label-y! […] And I was so young, too, which is crazy because I feel like I did that song when I just signed to that label. I was probably, like, 20. That was crazy.”

Sang then commented that despite public perceptions of those collaborations being something that Tinashe was totally on board with, she probably lacked a lot of control over the situation. Tinashe responded, “You do, a thousand percent. Especially when it comes to singles, for example — that song with Chris [Brown]: that was a song that I put a lot of… we all wanted it to be this big moment, this big single. So I feel like, in their mind, they were like, ‘You need the support.’ He was their biggest artist that they had on rhythmic radio at the time. To me, I was like, ‘Well, this is a pop song. So, I really don’t feel like we should put Chris on it.’ That doesn’t compute to me, but… I don’t know.”

One of R. Kelly’s victims, Faith Rodgers, who accused the singer of failing to disclose a sexually transmitted disease before sleeping with her, is demanding the jailed singer turn over medical information. Back in 2018, Rodgers sued the convicted singer in New York court. In her lawsuit, Rodgers said she met Kelly in 2017 after one of his shows in Texas. She was 19-years old at the time.

According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, Rogers, who sued Kelly in 2018, asked a judge to help her obtain the information.

The victim wants Kelly to answer questions under oath about the date they met and how often they engaged in sexual relations. Further, she wants him to turn over a list of any financial institutions he has accounts in.

Rodgers also wants him to make a list of all credit cards he used from 2017 to 2019. The victim’s list of demands asks Kelly to state all the names of any medical professionals he used, state each and every hospital or clinic that he was a patient of from January 2017 to January 2019.

Further, she asked Kelly to admit he failed to tell her about his STD before having sex with her and that he forced her to engage in sexual acts without her consent.

R. Kelly & UMG Ordered To Pay $500K In Victim Restitution From Royalties

It seems like, despite R. Kelly’s failure to comply with victim restitution, the court is still able to get the money victims deserve. Moreover, according to legal documents obtained by TMZ Hip Hop, a judge signed an order into effect that garnished $500K from the convicted singer’s royalties amid his twenty-year prison sentence for sex crimes. Apparently, Universal Music Group held a lot of his royalties and hadn’t yet paid this amount in victim restitution, for which legal authorities had to intervene. In addition, reports suggest that much of these unpaid royalties stem from the R&B artist’s older hits that UMG hadn’t cashed in yet. Specifically, the company has over $567K in royalties.

Furthermore, this would cover R. Kelly’s outstanding debt of $506,950.26 to victims- and then some. Of course, these royalties mostly relate to his past material because, when it comes to new music, the Chicago native did not see a lot of success. Labels and imprints quickly dropped him among his trials and controversies. Regardless, many fans still hold on to his classics and big tracks, and even with all of this legal reckoning in mind, they still hold a lot of weight for listeners.

In fact, the 56-year-old’s chances of ever returning to the musical realm seem quite slim. While many support him in terms of still listening to and praising his music, they also acknowledge that things are too far gone. Dame Dash is one of many industry titans who spoke on the R. Kelly situation and thought justice came to light. “I think he’s where he belongs,” the Roc-A-Fella affiliate explained. “I know Aaliyah, so I know what he did, I can’t be objective about that, you know what I’m saying? But he definitely seemed like he needed some help.

“I couldn’t believe [Jay-Z] did a project with R. Kelly knowing that he had r*ped my girl,” he added. “I was like, ‘Just don’t put my name on that, I don’t want no money from that. If it is, put it to Aaliyah foundation.’ Like, they did this s**t twice.” For more news and the latest updates on R. Kelly, come back to HNHH.
