About nine months after the tragic loss of Takeoff, his friends and family are still seeking justice for his passing. Moreover, Quavo’s assistant Joshua Washington, who accompanied him and Take the night suspects shot the latter, sued the location of the tragedy, 810 Billiards & Bowling in Houston, Texas. The lawsuit against the venue, its owners, and property managers alleges gross negligence of security measures and emergency responses to the shooting. In fact, Washington was one of three other individuals who sustained injuries as a result of it, with the late Migo being the only casualty. Readers may remember that Kirsnick Khari Ball’s mother, Titania Davenport, also sued the entertainment venue for similar reasons.
Furthermore, her suit also brought forth allegations that the venue ignored calls for stricter security amid rumors that it became a crime hotspot. She seeks “compensatory, special, economic, consequential, general, punitive, and all other damages permissible under Texas law.” However, it’s unclear as of writing this article what outcome Washington seeks from this new legal action, although they’re assumedly similar damages. Regardless, this means that there’s now more pressure than ever on the venue to answer for their supervision.
Still, 810 Billiards & Bowling issued a public denial of any responsibility in this tragic incident, which Davenport’s lawsuit aimed to disprove. “[The] Defendants provided no screening mechanisms, no after-hour controls or security measures, and no enforcement of rules or industry standards to deter crime against their invitees, to include [Takeoff],” the suit alleges. “Social media posting in advance of the party made it clear that not only basic security measures needed to be followed, but advance planning and consideration should have been taken into account.
“Defendants knew or should have known that a significant number of violent crimes were committed at the subject premises and in the surrounding area, but negligently failed to protect invitees like [Takeoff] from the risks of violent crime,” it continued. “Defendants negligently failed to take necessary and unique precautions due to the specific event and the attendees. [They] knew that based on the nature of the party, celebrities would more likely than not be in attendance and potentially be the targets of crime.” We’ll see if this additional lawsuit will result in true accountability for the venue. Earlier this month, Quavo announced that he’d delayed his upcoming album, Rocket Power, to “run some more tests before the rocket is ready to launch.” Apparently, one of those tests was the home crowd response test. Quavo previewed part of the album for Atlanta fans during yesterday’s Braves game against the New York Yankees, which Atlanta won, 5-0. Standing atop the Braves’ dugout ahead of the game, Quavo performed a new song called, “Who Wit Me,” with the Braves’ social team capturing the performance above.
Meanwhile, Quavo continued the rollout for Rocket Power, releasing the single “Turn Yo Clic Up” with Future — a single that found Future seemingly trying to resurrect his dispute with NFL player Russell Wilson. Fortunately, Quavo appears to be keeping his relationship with various sports teams positive; you can watch his performance of “Who Wit Me” above.
After deciding to delay his solo sophomore album to “run some more tests,” Quavo’s follow-up, Rocket Power, is nearly here. Although he didn’t have plans to drop a new solo work following the tragic death of his late nephew and frequent collaborator Takeoff, Quavo decided to use his music as an emotional outlet.
On social media, Quavo shared that creating the album helped him in the darkest moments he faced after Takeoff’s passing. “This album is for the Rocket, our true fans, and also, this is my therapy,” he wrote. “This album is a true reflection of how I feel right now. Sometimes I’m good, sometimes I’m down, sometimes I’m disappointed, sometimes I fall apart, but then I always find my strength again. I know everything might not be alright right now, but the Rocket showed me a way to make it right! Rocket Power keeps me going. Rocket Power gives me fuel. ‘Rocket Power’ will help us all overcome whatever we’re going through.”

Quavo recently hosted the second annual ‘Ultimate Back 2 School Giveback’ in partnership with Quavo Cares and Tender Foundation. The event at The Gathering Spot in Atlanta was a heartwarming day of community engagement and entertainment, benefiting over 270 local Atlanta residents.
Quavo and his family wore jerseys emblazoned with the number 94 and ‘Rocket Power’ as a tribute to the late Takeoff. The event provided school essentials like backpacks, notebooks, and pencils while offering a variety of activities for students and families. Balloon animal making, face painting, mini basketball, and a raffle for 2 iPad Minis were some of the highlights. Students could also choose trendy apparel from Legends and Insoles and enjoy popsicles from Mocha Pops. Giveaway tables were tailored for different school levels, and a DJ booth, sensory station, and games were added to the fun.
The success of this event strengthens the partnership between Quavo Cares Foundation and Tender Foundation, highlighting their dedication to positively impacting Atlanta families and empowering youth through education. Quavo Cares focuses on youth development through sports, education, and the arts, and their collaboration with Tender has previously supported initiatives like the guaranteed income program for black single moms. This event builds on their previous efforts, including the inaugural Back 2 School Giveback in 2022, showcasing their commitment to making a difference in the community.
It looks like we’re going to have to wait a little bit longer for Quavo‘s second solo album, Rocket Power. Yesterday, the Migos rapper took to Instagram to share that Rocket Power has been pushed back.
In a video on Quavo’s account, the Atlanta rapper is seen listening to mixes of the new album. “We gotta run some more tests before the rocket is ready to launch,” the post’s caption reads.
The album was originally set to drop this Friday, but has now been pushed back two weeks. The album is largely inspired by his Migos bandmate Takeoff, who was killed last November following an altercation in Houston.
In a recent interview with Jamie Crawford-Walker, Quavo shared that he has felt Takeoff’s presence everywhere as he’s been working on the project.
“I miss him a lot and I love him,” Quavo said. “He know I love him. That’s what we always know. So when you see me and you see me smiling or something like that, you don’t gotta never think I forgot about him or I’ll forget about him. I think about him all the time. Sometimes I cry myself to sleep. And that’s it. I just know he’s here. If I can’t feel him, I just know he’s around.”

In July, Quavo released his latest single, “Turn Yo Clic Up.” The track features the esteemed artist Future and is available through Quality Control Music/Motown Records.
Quavo had previously teased the release to his fans by sharing a video clip of himself with Future on his Instagram.
“Turn Yo Clic Up” marks the third single that Quavo has unveiled this year, following the release of “Honey Bun” in March. With this new single, Quavo continues to showcase his musical prowess and maintain his presence in the hip-hop scene.
In a candid and emotional interview with former football player and journalist Shannon Sharp, former Migos group member Quavo revealed how he has been coping with the sudden passing of his group mate, Takeoff. The tragedy struck in November 2022 at a Houston bowling alley, leaving Quavo and the music world in shock. When asked […]
Quavo has been open about his grief for his nephew and fellow Migos member Takeoff who tragically died last year. He mourned Takeoff on his moving song “Letter To Takeoff” in January. He shared a tribute to Takeoff last month on what would’ve been his 29th birthday.
On his YouTube channel, Quavo has made himself more vulnerable with a new video talking with Jamie Crawford-Walker. It’s titled “A Conversation For The Fans. #RocketPower,” the hashtag referencing his forthcoming album of the same title. In the video, he said that he plans to preserve unreleased music from Takeoff for a posthumous album, which amounts to 1,000 verses.
“I just feel my boy’s energy. He got his chair over there, he just be kickin’ it,” he said about Takeoff. “I always kick it with him. People don’t understand, but I be there. I be there in the house making sure all his stuff is straight, all his jewelry is clean. Still taking care of all his cars and all of that.”
“Just being fueled by my brother, Take,” he said about the album title Rocket Power, “and bottling in all these emotions — all the pain, all the hard times, all the times I cried and all the times I just made music to pull up and try to play songs and he’s not there. I’m just trying to get this fuel from above and this fuel from the sky and call it ‘rocket power.’”
