Lil Wayne Proudly Rocks XO Chain Amidst Drake And The Weeknd Beef

Lil Wayne has had beef before. The rapper went as JAY-Z multiple times in the 00s. He also squabbled with Pusha T and the rest of the Star Trak crew around the same time. In recent years, though, Weezy F. Baby has preferred to keep the peace. He’s cool with everybody not named Birdman. This approach has been most evident in 2024, when his protege Drake went to war with the rest of the superstars in the rap game. Lil Wayne has maintained support for Drake without getting too involved. The rapper’s recent style move, however, has some fans scratching their head.

Lil Wayne appeared in the music video for Jon Baptiste’s “Uneasy.” The rapper can be shirt playing the guitar while rocking multiple chains. Nothing too out of the ordinary, as Rebirth fans know. The Weeknd recently posted a screenshot from the 2023 music video, though, and highlighted a crucial detail. Weezy is rocking an XO chain in the video, which is in reference to The Weeknd’s label of the same name. The rapper is showing love to the XO crew, even though they’ve been embroiled in a beef with Drake for the better part of a year.

Lil Wayne Was Recently Accused Of Dissing Drake

Some fans have noted that the video dropped last August, but the decision to rock XO was still a bold one a year ago. Lil Wayne knows the situation between Drake and The Weeknd. The Canadian stars have been sniping at each other for the better part of a decade. Drake and The Weeknd even fired shots at each other on the songs “Family Matters” and “All to Myself,” respectively. What makes the situation even stranger is that Lil Wayne himself was accused of dissing Drake on a new Cordae song.

Wayne dropped a stellar guest verse on Cordae’s “Saturday Mornings.” The Young Money boss throws a few digs at a rapper, and calls them “sweet” like a Teddy Graham. Fans immediately seized on these bars and tied them back to Drake. It isn’t hard to see why. Drake’s surname is Graham, and if there’s a rapper who has been called “sweet” more often than the 6 God, we haven’t heard of him. The diss theory went away pretty quickly, but Lil Wayne did not clarify who he was talking about on the song. Is there Young Money beef brewing? Drake Announces PARTYNEXTDOOR Collab Album And Teases Fall Release

Drake is staying busy. It’s been days since Ebro and Peter Rosenberg teased the possibility of a new Drake album coming soon. The Hot 97 hosts claimed the 6 God was working with Conductor Williams in the studio. Based on his recent announcement, though, Drake has been doing a lot more than that. The rapper made a surprise appearance at a PARTYNEXTDOOR show on Friday, and proceeded to blow the minds of OVO fans. He confirmed that he has a joint album with PND in the works, and it will be dropping in the fall.

Drake came out and crushed the building with his song selections. He treated PARTYNEXTDOOR fans to live performances of “Sweeterman” and “Redemption.” He even played “Wah Gwan Delilah,” the bizarre Plain White T’s cover he dropped a few months back. Fans thought they were being treated to a surprise Drake and PND reunion, but Drake saved the best for last. Towards the end of his set, he told the crowd that him and PARTY have something in the works for the fall. “Once Summer over with,” he stated. “Do what you need to do, I know all you girls are outside and when it gets a little chilly… a PARTYNEXTDOOR and Drake album will be right there for you…” The resulting screams from fans are deafening.

Drake Claims Him And PND Have Been Recording

Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR have been making great music together since 2013. That was the year the former signed the latter to OVO, and when the latter dropped his self-titled debut. PARTYNEXTDOOR is very much a secret weapon for Drake when it comes to the R&B side of his persona. The two have linked up on classics like “Come and See Me” (2016), “Since Way Back” (2017) and “LOYAL” (2019). PND also stole the show with a pair of standout appearances on Drake’s iconic If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late (2015).

The concept of a Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR collab album makes perfect sense on paper. The two artists have complimentary sounds. Some would argue that PND has played a big role in shaping the 6 God’s sound. PARTYNEXTDOOR’s writing talents have been praised ad nauseam, but his production on Drake’s “Legend” suggests he can also excel with a harder, hip-hop sound. The possibilities are endless for what the finished product will sound like. We just hope it’s a smoother rollout than Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign’s VULTURES 2. The pairing of rapper and R&B singer has yielded mostly drama. They did drop a new single, though, which you can check out below.

Drake Takes To His IG Story Amid ScHoolboy Q Toronto Show Cancellation

Drake was thrust into the news on Wednesday night thanks to a situation involving ScHoolboy Q. Overall, it all had to do with the fact that the artist had his show in Toronto completely canceled. It was a bit of a surprising turn of events, although Q blamed it on Canadian police. Moreover, there was an insinuation that OVO had something to do with it and that all TDE artists are being blacklisted from the city. Needless to say, theories about the Kendrick Lamar beef were running amock.

ScHoolboy Q spoke about the situation on Twitter and even had a bit of a back-and-forth with DJ Akademiks about the whole thing. During the middle of the night, Drake took to his Instagram story, where he may or may not have offered his commentary on the situation. Below, you can see that he simply posted a photo of himself with a t-shirt that says “Free Yayo.” As for the actual Q situation, there was no direct response.

In the replies to NFR Podcast, some fans found this IG story to be incredibly petty. However, others noted that this is a reference to the shirt Eminem once wore at the Grammys in support of fellow artist, Tony Yayo. Overall, it is a pretty cool nod that shows that Drake is tapped in, the recent criticisms against him. Either way, this situation with ScHoolboy Q is rife with speculation, and only time will tell how this all shakes out.

ScHoolboy Q & DJ Akademiks Go Back And Forth After Q’s Toronto Show Is Suspiciously Shut Down

Last night was not particularly fun for ScHoolboy Q. Overall, this is due to the fact that he was unable to perform in Toronto, Canada. The news came as a bit of a surprise, although as Q alleged, it was the Toronto police who ended up shutting down his show. “THey just cancelled my sHow in TORONTO,” Q said on Twitter. “CANADIAN POLICE DONT WANT NOBODY FROM TDE PERFORMING.” He subsequently followed this up by saying “TOP was just wit Wayne & Baby smH partynextdoor just Had a sHow @ tHe palladium. if we wanted to get yall we would’ve just did it.. now wHen sumbody get Hurt don’t cry…”

The second statement was misinterpreted by some as an incitement of violence. As a result, DJ Akademiks decided to weigh in with some comments of his own. “Sending Prayers for Peace and healing. Battle was good. Time to move on,” he wrote. Mostly, Akademiks has been on team OVO throughout this whole thing. Having said that, ScHoolboy Q wasn’t going to let Ak get the last word in on all of this. “I neva said “ ima kill sumbody” im saying if we wanted to crack it off we could’ve smH,” Q wrote. “Rap and move on playin tuff gon get sumbody Hurt it’s all good. ima soccer dad.”

Needless to say, the situation is a bit of a mess right now. There was no official explanation given for the shutdown of Q’s show, and fans are left to speculate. ScHoolboy Q Blasts OVO For Not Allowing TDE Artists In Toronto

ScHoolboy Q is not happy. The TDE rapper was slated to perform in Toronto, but was allegedly kept from doing so. In response to this last-minute decision, Q hopped on Twitter and criticized the Canadian city for discriminating against his label. He not only accused Toronto of keeping TDE artists out, but hinted at some larger problems between the label and Drake’s OVO crew. ScHoolboy Q also alluded to there being consequences if this so-called sensitive behavior continued.

The Twitter rant took place on July 17. ScHoolboy Q made it clear that he was angry over the cancelation of his show, and called out Canadian police directly. “THey just canceled by sHow in Toronto,” he wrote. “Canadian police don’t want nobody from TDE performing.” The real bombshell, however, came in the subsequent tweet. Q claimed that everything was good between TDE and Drake’s parent label, Young Money. He claimed that Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith was actually hanging out with Birdman and Weezy recently. “Top was just wit Wayne and Baby smH,” he angrily typed. ScHoolboy Q also noted that OVO artist PARTYNEXTDOOR played at the Palladium in Los Angeles without any trouble.

ScHoolboy Q Warned OVO To Tread Carefully

After venting about the various ways in which the beef has been settled, ScHoolboy Q got aggressive. He made it known that if TDE had plans to do something to Drake and OVO, they would have done it already. “If we wanted to get y’all we would’ve just did it,” he tweeted. The last part of the message took on a more ominous tone, with the rapper seemingly warning OVO of potential problems to come. “Now wHen sumbody get Hurt don’t cry…” he concluded. ScHoolboy Q was never involved in the Kendrick Lamar and Drake beef, but he made it clear which side he was on from day one.

He voiced his support for Lamar, his former label mate, on social media. He also performed alongside the rapper at the legendary “Pop Out” show on Juneteenth. ScHoolboy Q and Dot rapped “Collard Greens” together. Q was also one of the people who posed for the iconic black-and-white photo taken at the end of the concert. Hopefully TDE and OVO are able to set their differences aside and allow touring on both sides, without things getting ugly.

Drake’s Toronto Mansion Gets Flooded After Massive Storm: Watch

Drake cannot catch a break. The Kendrick Lamar victory lap got a second wind when the “Not Like Us” music video dropped on July 4th. Then there was the shooting that took place at his home in May. Now, the same Toronto mansion that took gunfire has fallen victim to the elements. Huge thunderstorms have rolled through Canada, resulting in Drake’s sprawling estate being flooded. The damage was so bad that the rapper posted a video of the flood on Instagram. The damage is going to be severe.

Drake posted the flooding footage on his Instagram on July 16. A man can be seen opening the door, while water rushes into the house and covers the floor. The whole room is covered, and Drake walks through to show how far the flooding has spread. He tried to make light of the unfortunate situation by writing: “This better be espresso martini” over the video. Drake’s mansion was not the only Toronto landmark to take damage due to severe weather. According to the Toronto Star, DVP lanes were shut down and Union Station was flooded, meaning commuters were stranded.

The outlet noted the difference between normal Toronto weather and this more recent extreme. Toronto saw 98 mm of rain on July 16, which is the fifth wettest day on record since 1938. Generally, the city gets 75 mm of rain throughout the summer. The uptick is massive. Environment Canada meteorologist Trudy Kidd told the Toronto Star that the city got more rain in a single day than it usually does in a whole month. Fortunately, for Drake, he has a stunning new property in Texas to hang out at until his Toronto mansion is repaired.

The rapper purchased a $15 million ranch called The Inn at Dos Brisas. The property is located between Austin and Houston, and spans a staggering 313 acres. Drake even hyped up the property on Instagram by adopting a Texas accent. “Me and my partna’, we done gone country on y’all,” he told his fans in June. “We said we was gonna do it for a lot of years and we’re doing it today. The sale is made. We gotta drop a new one for this. If you see your girl at the ‘Lover Boy Lane,’ it’s over.”

Of course, the clip has sparked a major discussion in DJ Akademiks’ comments section, as fans debate whether or not this was shade aimed at Kendrick. Drake’s beef with Kendrick Lamar seems to have mostly died down. Evidently, however, that doesn’t mean he’s willing to miss an opportunity to diss the Compton-born MC. Earlier this week, the official OVO Instagram shared a series of photos, advertising some casual women’s clothing items. One of the pieces was a simple white tank top, commonly referred to as a “wife beater.” The model rocking the top bares a striking resemblance to Kendrick’s fiancée Whitney Alford. She even wore a similar top in the “Not Like Us” music video.

Throughout their lyrical battle, Drake accused Kendrick Lamar of domestic violence against Alford multiple times. Of course, fans are assuming that the ad was intentional, and a sneaky way of taking aim at the “Euphoria” rapper without actually saying anything. This is unconfirmed, though the model’s resemblance to Alford is undeniable, which raises the question of whether or not it’s even possible for this to have been a coincidence.

Kendrick Lamar’s Juneteenth concert The Pop Out — Ken & Friends was epic for several reasons, but the universally agreed upon highlight was Lamar’s decision to end his 23-song set by performing “Not Like Us” five consecutive times (plus an instrumental version as he exited the Kia Forum stage). “Not Like Us” is one of Lamar’s Drake diss tracks from the spring and perhaps the most popular, hitting No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and infiltrating unlikely corners of society.

Last week, Lamar filmed his forthcoming “Not Like Us” video in his hometown Compton, California. The highly anticipated video does not have a firm release date, but the internet is rumbling.

On Wednesday night, July 3, photos began circulating on social media teasing Lamar’s “Not Like Us” video, including a shot of Lamar obliterating an owl piñata with the message, “DISCLAIMER: NO OVH*ES WERE HARMED DURING THE MAKING OF THIS VIDEO” — a reference to the “Not Like Us” bridge mocking Drake’s OVO. There is also a photo of Lamar posing alongside Whitney Alford, his longtime partner, and their two children.

Earlier this week, an “Us” billboard from The Pop Out popped up in Inglewood, California, using a photo of Lamar on stage with everyone he brought together for what he called an “emotional” night.
