Barbz Give Monica Her Flowers For “Pink Friday 2” Opening Night

The Barbz have shown out for Monica, who is serving as Nicki Minaj’s supporting act on the Pink Friday 2 tour. Minaj’s fanbase had nothing but love for the veteran singer, who performed in an unorthodox midshow break, as opposed to being a true “opener” for Minaj. Fans not only praised Monica, but warned fans unfamiliar with her work to be nice or else during the tour’s run. It’s unclear if Minaj has plans for any surprise guests on the tour.

The Pink Friday 2 tour opened in Oakland to rave reviews from fans. The tour will throughout the next few months, ending with Minaj headlining Wireless Fest in London. “Instead of doing another arena show in London after we sold out in the first week, I opted to do Wireless Festival. This year’s show will be a billion times more special, creative, beautiful, cohesive, ugh! I’m so excited. I’d like to tell you guys thank you in advance. Last year was so meaningful but won’t compare. Just wait & see,” Minaj said of the tour-ending festival set.

Nicki Minaj Fans Chant “F*ck Latto” At Opening Show Of Pink Friday 2 Tour

Meanwhile, The Barbz were out for blood at the tour’s opening show, with members of the audience heard chanting “F-ck Latto” at several points. The animosity towards Latto likely stems from her beef with Ice Spice, who is considered a Minaj “ally” after several collabs between the two. Furthermore, Latto is considered a Cardi B “ally” after the pair collaborated on “Put It On Da Floor Again” last year.

Latto and Spice have been trading blows for the last few weeks. Spice released the diss track “Think You The Sh-t (Fart)” before going after Latto for using her music video footage in a TikTok. Meanwhile, Latto hit back with “Sunday Service” and also referred to Spice as a “little girl” in a clapback post on social media.

2Pac Has Street Named After Him In Oakland

Oakland has renamed MacArthur Boulevard to Tupac Shakur Way in honor of the late rapper. The new signs were unveiled on Friday and commemorate the rapper amidst a period of heightened attention as a man goes on trial for his murder. The street, located between Van Buren and Grand Avenue, was formerly named for General Douglas MacArthur. The Oakland City Council initially voted to make the name change back in May of this year.

Tupac had a conflicted history with the California city. In 1991, Pac sued the police department for police brutality. Pac was allegedly thrown to the ground and choked by two officers after being stopped for jaywalking. In response, Pac filed a lawsuit for $10 million. However, the case was eventually settled for $43,000. Furthermore, this incident was later revealed to be the trigger for Pac’s auto-immune alopecia. This led to 2Pac shaving his head for the rest of his life to combat the hair loss.

Old SNL Promo Has Fans Speculating On Scott’s Drug Use

Meanwhile, a recently resurfaced promo for Travis Scott‘s 2018 appearance on SNL has fans debating whether the rapper has a drug addiction. In the clip, which featured Awkafina as the episode host, Scott is in a completely different galaxy. He doesn’t appear to be even vaguely aware of what is going on as Awkafina and former cast member Cecily Strong do a bit about Crazy Rich Asians. Bear in mind, this was five years ago. However, this hasn’t stopped fans from expressing modern concern about the rapper’s drug habits. “Yaaaa i never done no sh-t like this on just weed…hoping he doesn’t OD like other rappers cos clearly he don’t got anyone who cares enough to stop him from doing this on live television,” one person wrote on social media.

However, Scott has long denied that he has a drug problem. “I don’t do a lot of drugs, sh-t so I don’t even know. I only think that real drugs are like crack, heroin, and f-cking, like, you know, meth. Sh-t that really gets you f-cked ed up, sh-t that really gets you tweakin’. If you ain’t doing that, you ain’t doing drugs. I think that’s weak people need all that weird sh-t just to, like, tap into their f-cking brain. Knowledge is power, drugs [are] just, like, a mental cool down. It just put me at ease. I don’t tap into drugs to say what’s on my mind. I can do that sh-t sober, I am a drug, sober,” Scott said back in 2018.

Angus Cloud Mural Appears In Oakland

Actor Angus Cloud passed away earlier this week. The 25-year-old was best known for portraying Fezco in Euphoria. Furthermore, he was set to star in the upcoming Universal Monsters film directed by Radio Silence. Cloud was found in his family home in Oakland on July 31. The nature of Cloud’s death has not been released to the public. However, it was known that he was struggling with the loss of his father. Cloud had traveled to Ireland for his father’s funeral the week before his own death.

“As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways. The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend. Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence. We hope the world remembers him for his humour, laughter and love for everyone,” the Cloud family said in a prepared statement earlier this week. Now Cloud’s friends have prepared their own tribute for him.

Cloud’s Friends Create Moving Mural Tribute

Local Oakland artist Darin Balaban teamed up with a group of Cloud’s friends to create a touching tribute to the late actor. Working on the side of a car wash, Balaban created a nine-foot mural inspired by three photos of Cloud provided by his friends. Balaban, who also knew Angus, said that Cloud was “always smiling and calm”. One of Cloud’s best friends Kalani is also an artist and reportedly helped Balaban with the mural.

According to TMZ, the mural painting became something of a community wake. People provided beer and pizza as they swapped stories about Cloud. However, Balaban admitted that he was surprised at how quickly the mural, located at Park and E. 19th, became a gathering place for those looking to mourn. Elsewhere, Cloud’s Euphoria co-star Dominic Fike shared a powerful tribute to his friend during a performance on August 1.

Tupac Will Have An Oakland Street Named After Him

Oakland’s City Council will name a portion of MacArthur Boulevard, between Grand Avenue and Van Buren Avenue, “Tupac Shakur Way.” The idea comes from Council member Carroll Fife. Fife explained, “Tupac Shakur’s legacy will continue through his contributions in art and social outreach, through his family and fans.” She went on to describe the artist “touching countless lives of children and elders over the years while alive and after his death.” Fife also says that Shakur was “taken too young by gun violence.”

Tupac was born in East Harlem, but his career as an artist began on the West Coast. He moved to Oakland in the late ’80s, starting then as a background dancer and roadie for the group Digital Underground. The rap legend was tragically murdered in a drive-by shooting in 1996, at the age of 25. Several of the artist’s major albums were created in California, including Me Against The World, All Eyez On Me, and more. In 2016, Oakland additionally declared June 16 to be “Tupac Shakur Day.”

In March, FX released the trailer for their Tupac docuseries, Dear Mama. The show debuted in April of this year. Emotional conversations with the late rapper’s mother, Afeni Shakur, were revealed in the trailer. She said, “It was very difficult for me to be a mom. But I knew very well how to protect my children.” A young Tupac also appears in the trailer, explaining, “My mother taught me to analyze society and not be quiet.”

He also went on to say, “If there’s something on my mind, speak it. Because – I gotta reiterate it.” Tupac also shares, “my mother was a Black Panther and she was very involved in the movement.” Director of the series Allen Hughes explained, “Wherever possible, we tried to find archival footage that hadn’t been seen. So there’s a lot that we have in the five parts.” He went on to additionally reveal, “There’s also audio that’s never been heard. And not just some of his acapellas and vocals.” Hughes told viewers, “there is a lot of stuff of Tupac from his baby years that had never been seen.” He also said, “most importantly, you get to understand why he made certain decisions.”

GloRilla’s Former Bodyguard Fired For Not Beating Up Person Who Threw Water

GloRilla’s former bodyguard said that she fired him for not going back to beat up the person who threw water at her at an Oakland venue. Moreover, he maintained that he did his job in the moment: protecting Glo and making sure that she got out of there safely. However, the Memphis MC apparently told him to go back to the venue and make a vengeful attack on the culprit. “I did my job, it’s complete,” he said during a video rant. To be fair, he said that he would’ve been much harsher to the crowd if they actually posed a threat or attacked them outright.

However, he stood by the fact that the person who threw the water was throwing it from the sides in the crowd. As such, he didn’t have much reason to get confrontational, as they weren’t directly in the rapper’s face. In fact, the former bodyguard said that he wouldn’t risk losing his license or catching an assault charge for petty and unwarranted retaliation. It’s not like Glo was scared or directly in danger, and the bodyguard defended the fact that he did what he had to do and nothing more.

GloRilla’s Former Bodyguard Speaks On Why He Was Fired

Moreover, the incident stemmed from miscommunication between the “F.N.F.” star’s camp, the venue promoters, and the crowd. According to the promoters, they paid GloRilla to perform, not host or do a walk-through, and her team agreed. As such, the venue promoted the event as a performance, not just any old appearance. However, both Yo Gotti and GloRilla clapped back and said that they didn’t come to such an agreement. Not only that, but they claimed that the promoters did not pay them enough for an actual performance.

“$30K to perform,” the CMG wrote alongside laughing emojis on Instagram. “[You] must [have] booked Lil Glo, NOT Big Glo #CMG.” Furthermore, Glo took to Twitter to voice her frustration. “Ain’t no ho spit on s**t!!!!!! Ask dat ho how ha face feel doe. No way you think I’m performing when you paid for a hosting, crazy tail self.” If the bodyguard’s story is correct, one thing’s for sure: going back to beat a disappointed fan up would’ve been an even bigger mess to clean up. Regardless, stick around on HNHH for the latest news on GloRilla.

GloRilla Claps Back At Person Who Said She’s Scared Of Oakland

GloRilla recently responded to someone who claimed she’s scared of Oakland after fans threw water on her in the city. Moreover, they were mad that Glo didn’t perform at a nightclub when allegedly agreed to do so. However, Yo Gotti and the “F.N.F.” star herself said that promoters only paid her to host. In fact, they took offense to the fact that they thought $30K was enough for a performance. Still, someone wrote on Instagram, “The Bay Dont Play. [laughing emoji] Got Her Ass Up Outta There Real Quick.. You Got TO Respect Real Pimpin When You In Oakland. Not That Phony S**t.. [laughing emoji].”

Then, GloRilla reposted that story on her Instagram page, saying she’s not scared of Oakland or anywhere else. “Ain’t nobody scared of no damn city [laughing emoji]. 1 h* played & dassit don’t feel special.” Also, she previously tweeted her responses to the promoter’s claims that she agreed to perform. “Ain’t no h* spit on s**t !!!!! Ask dat h* how ha face feel doe. No way you think I’m performing when you paid for a hosting crazy tail self.”

In addition, Yo Gotti also defended the fellow Memphis rapper. “$30K to perform,” he wrote on Instagram with a bunch of laughing emojis. “[You] must [have] booked Lil Glo, NOT Big Glo #CMG.” Overall, it seems like a tough situation to call, given promoter Con B’s receipts online. Moreover, he claimed that Glo knew very well that they agreed to a performance. For example, he posted screenshots of a contract with her team that acknowledged the performance. Also, he already teased event-goers with the show before it was time for the afterparty. “She will be performing live…” he wrote on his Instagram story. “Not hosting, not a walkthrough. She will be performing live in Oakland, CA, TONIGHT!!”

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old still has a couple of dates left on her nationwide tour, for which this controversial afterparty happened. In addition to this new performance debacle, she handled claims of scamming from allegedly fake members of her team. While she’s caught some flack, it’s also come with insane success and she strides forward every time. Let us know what you think about this situation in the comments and log back into HNHH for the latest on GloRilla.

Yo Gotti & GloRilla Respond To Oakland Water-Throwing Performance Incident

GloRilla has had an undeniably quick rise to the top over the past few years. There have been plenty of big moments to celebrate in that time. Still, the 23-year-old has also endured her share of tough lessons. The most recent one took place earlier this week when an angry Oakland crowd seemingly threw water toward the rap diva after she failed to perform for them.

As per TMZ, the “F.N.F.” hitmaker was in the Bay Area on Wednesday (February 8), visiting New Karibbean City nightclub. As Glo and her team made their way toward the venue’s door, a video shows a drink soaking her jacket, immediately causing tensions to rise. “F*ck you bitch,” someone else yells toward the Memphis native. This consequently saw a drink thrown their way from the artist’s team.

Con B, a local promoter, has shared his side of the story. He claims that he paid GloRilla’s label, CMG, $30K to have her perform at the club. In his explanation video, @conbmusic made it known that he’s expecting a full refund. Prior to the event, he promised on his Instagram Story, “she will be performing live… Not hosting, not a walkthrough. She will be performing live in Oakland, CA, TONIGHT!!”

In the hours since Con spoke his truth, Yo Gotti has come out refuting those claims with some of his own. “$30K to perform,” he wrote on Instagram alongside a row of crying-laughing emojis. “[You] must [have] booked Lil Glo, NOT Big Glo #CMG.” Additionally, the “FTCU” hitmaker herself got some things off her chest over on Twitter.

“Ain’t no ho spit on shit!!!!!!” GloRilla wrote after the video began going viral. “Ask dat ho how ha face feel doe. No way you think I’m performing when you paid for a hosting, crazy tail self.” According to TMZ, only a few rowdy patrons were upset that she didn’t take the stage, otherwise, the environment was fun.

The southern rapstress is currently on tour following the arrival of her debut EP last year. She took to the stage in San Francisco earlier on Wednesday night, which likely explains her reluctance to put on another performance.
