Nicki Minaj Said Having Her Son Made Her Regret Getting Plastic Surgery: ‘Why Didn’t I Like This?”

In a new interview about her recent Vogue feature, Nicki Minaj expressed regret about getting plastic surgery earlier in her career, saying, she “could not believe” that she ever disliked the way she looked.

As she told the hosts of Vogue‘s The Run-Through podcast, “I guarantee you, if you change anything on your body and do anything surgical and all this, you’re going to — more than likely, not definitely, more than likely — look back one day and say, ‘I was fine just the way I was.’ And that’s what happened to me.”

She credited the change in her perspective to becoming a mother, saying, “Seeing my son did remind me of myself so much. My real self. And it made me think, ‘Why didn’t I like this?’ So weird. But seeing old photos, being able to look at old photos again made me realize, these old photos are beautiful.”

The “Last Time I Saw You” rapper has addressed her past insecurity before, telling Joe Budden she “didn’t feel complete or good enough” being in hip-hop around women with big butts — many the result of BBL (“Brazilian butt-lift”) surgery. More of her rap peers (and rivals) have been opening up about having surgeries, including Cardi B, Doja Cat, Latto, and SZA, who have all opened up about getting work done, but who have also warned fans about going overboard.

Minaj is working on her fifth studio album Pink Friday 2, which is scheduled to be released on December 8 after being pushed back twice. Check out her “73 Questions” with Vogue clip above.

Nicki Minaj Admits Raising Baby Without Help Tested Her Marriage

Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty Pose for the Camera with Papa Bear

Ten years ago, rapper Nicki Minaj predicted she would be married with a kid in ten years. Just like she predicted, the married Queen’s icon welcomed her first child with her husband, Kenneth ‘Zoo’ Petty three years ago. Now the grammy-nominated Barb is admitting that the baby put a temporary strain on her marriage in 2020 when the couple decided to raise their baby without the help from nanny’s. Nicki also reveals that she doesn’t allow her son to eat sweets or drink juice.

OK Magazine reports:

Nicki Minaj admitted her and Kenneth Petty’s relationship has not always been at its best.

In a recent interview, the “Super Bass” singer revealed that she and her hubby went through a rough patch in 2020 after the birth of their son, whom Minaj calls “Papa Bear.”

During the sit down, the star revealed she and Petty raised their infant son without any help other than a few visits from a grandparent.

“I’m not going to lie, things got testy between us,” she said in the interview, published Thursday, November 9. “Because of our history, I think we knew we’d get past it. But there’s no such thing as confidence in parenthood.”

She continued: “I kind of wish that someone had told me — although I’m sure I wouldn’t have been able to understand it — that there’s a level of anxiety, and you think it’s going to go away, but in fact it gets scarier.”

“So often you think: I don’t know how to do this!” she confessed.

Minaj also talked about her parenting choices for Papa Bear, including her decision to not allow him to eat sweets or drink juice.

“Illnesses like diabetes run in our community,” she explained. “I’m not in favor of body positivity if it means unhealthy bodies. That’s bull. It’s not believable, so let’s stop pretending.”

Nicki Minaj Covers Dec. Issue of Vogue Magazine Ahead of ‘Pink Friday 2’

Nicki Minaj Covers Dec. Issue of Vogue Magazine

Ahead of the Pink Friday 2 album release, Nicki Minaj covered the new edition of Vogue magazine. Inside, she details how her world changed with the arrival of her son, affectionately known as Papa Bear.

Nicki Minaj has updated the release date for Pink Friday 2, making it available to fans on her birthday. Minaj shared the details in an Instagram Live session, setting the release date for Dec. 8.

“This entire album will be the biggest gift I’ve ever given humanity thus far,” Minaj said. “I can stand by that. I will bet any amount of money that Pink Friday 2, the album, is going to make people fall in love immediately.”

Nicki Minaj fans have been waiting for quite some time for the release of her highly-anticipated project, Pink Friday 2. Most recently, Queen Barbie herself went Live to her 227 million followers on Instagram to talk about the new project and its coinciding tour. Not only does she let fans into a little bit of her creative process behind her new release, she always explains that this Pink Friday 2 tour will be “greater than every other tour combined.”

Which is saying a lot! Given her Young Money labelmate Drake recently shut down arenas all over the world on his It’s All A Blur Tour.

Nick states, “Even though this album is called Pink Friday 2, even though we love the nostalgia, this will not remind you of another tour. That’s how I’ll say it. I mean, it’s gonna be greater than every other tour combined — like this album. This will be a very different feeling tour, even if you’ve been to every Nicki Minaj tour that’s ever existed. Because there are certain things that I always do similar in all my tours. This time, it’s going to be a completely different perspective.”

We can’t help but wonder exactly what this means, whether she’s talking about her performance style or her set design. But one thing’s for sure: it sounds like she’s putting a lot of time and effort into giving fans an unforgettable show!

“In addition to it being, of course, a whole new album, the approach to the tour will be very different and the feel of the tour will be very different. We still gon’ cover all the ground that is required to cover in order for y’all to know that you fucking with the best, but it won’t remind you of another tour.”

The Pink Friday 2 Tour dates have yet to be announced, but Nicki has previously revealed it should start somewhere in the first quarter of next year. In the meantime, we wait patiently for the arrival of Pink Friday 2 on November 17th, marking her first album in five years.

Fans can pre-save the album here.

Nicki Minaj Recalled Nearly Becoming Addicted To Percocet Early In Her Career

Nicki Minaj is on the new Vogue cover for December 2023, where she discussed various aspects of her career and personal life. One of these moments was about a time when Minaj had been living in Atlanta to work on her career. After experiencing menstrual cramps, she was prescribed Percocet — but the way she was taking it soon went beyond using it for the standard pain.

“No one told me that this was a narcotic and this was addictive,” Minaj said. “Luckily I was able to ground myself. But — once an addict, always an addict. I feel like if you’ve ever experienced addiction to anything, which I have, you always have to think twice and three times about the choices that you make.”

Minaj pointed out that many big stars struggled with self-medication as a way of escapism. She also reflected on the history of addiction in her own family, as her late father struggled with hard substance abuse — and that her mom didn’t really understand it.

“I think about watching my father go back and forth, and I just wish that at the time I understood that he wasn’t doing it because he wanted to,” she said. “I thought that he was making a conscious effort to be addicted to a drug that would have him steal his children’s video games and sell them for money. Think about that — who would make a conscious effort to do that? Now I realize, those people weren’t making those choices because they wanted to hurt their family. Addiction took over their bodies and their lives. They were victims too.”

Has Nicki Minaj Revealed Her Son’s Real Name?

Nicki Minaj speaks, and the Barbz (sometimes) listen. With Pink Friday 2 due out on December 8, Minaj’s birthday, the call-and-response is active as ever. Last weekend, Minaj played snippets of unreleased tracks, pondered releasing an EP of said tracks, and teased a newly recorded track “Let Me Calm Down,” which she described as “one of my faves.”

After challenging the Barbz to get #TellUsNicki trending worldwide yesterday, November 8, Minaj rewarded her fan base this morning, November 9, by revealing herself on the cover of Vogue‘s December Issue. Within the accompanying profile, Minaj discussed a range of topics, including what Pink Friday 2 will sound like, but she’s still keeping one secret to herself.

“Minaj has not publicly revealed the name of her son, whom she prefers to call Papa Bear,” Vogue‘s Rob Haskell wrote. “She and [Minaj’s husband, Kenneth] Petty navigated his infancy with no help whatsoever save for an occasional brief visit from a grandparent.” However, the cover spread features a photo of Minaj cradling Papa Bear, whose name has been a point of speculation since his birth on September 30, 2020.

Ahead of Pink Friday 2, which will enjoy a supporting tour in 2024, Minaj has dropped singles “Last Time I Saw You” and “Super Freaky Girl,” becoming Minaj’s third-career No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. She also shared “Bahm Bahm” exclusively on her website on Friday, October 13.

Pink Friday 2 is out 12/8 via Republic Records. Find more information here.

Nicki Minaj Reflects On Her Past Body Comments & Thoughts On Her Curves

Nicki Minaj recently graced the cover of American Vogue for the first time, accompanied by her son Papa Bear and a year after she called the publication out. It seems like they let bygones be bygones, and she touched upon a lot of different topics during their interview together. Moreover, one of the aspects of the 40-year-old’s career that she reflected on was her early adoption of body modifications and the voluptuous image she broke onto the scene with. While she has no regrets and feels at peace with her body today, she did remark on how she’s learned to appreciate herself beyond that, and doesn’t want to push that on anyone else.

“I just looked at a video that I posted on Instagram when I was 25,” Nicki Minaj expressed to Vogue during their conversation together. “I would f***ing pay to look like that right now. But today, I can say that I’m at peace with who I am and how I look. Recently, I had to get a breast reduction, and actually, I love it. I used to want a bigger butt, and now I look back and realize how silly that was.

Nicki Minaj On Body Positivity: “Love Your Curves & Love Your Non-Curves”

“So, love your curves, and love your non-curves,” the Trinidadian MC continued. “There’s nothing wrong with any of it.” In addition, Nicki Minaj also spoke on how she’s trying to set a better example for her little one with her lifestyle, whether in regards to health or concerning image. “I’ve made certain choices for my son, to not give him sweets and candy and juices, because of illnesses like diabetes that run in our community,” she shared. “I’m not in favor of body positivity if it means unhealthy bodies. That’s bull. It’s not believable, so let’s stop pretending.”

Meanwhile, with a potential reconciliation with Remy Ma on the cards, fans are more excited than ever for the Queen’s upcoming album, Pink Friday 2. We’re sure that there will be a lot more to unpack and a lot more teases before its December 8 release date. On that note, we can’t wait to see what the Barbz will get very soon. What Will Nicki Minaj’s ‘Pink Friday 2’ Album Sound Like?

Nicki Minaj Album Pink Friday 2 Release Date

In just about a month, Nicki Minaj will release her long-awaited fifth album Pink Friday 2. The project will be the rapper’s first full-length release since 2018’s Queen. Though Minaj has delivered a healthy batch of singles over the years, a full album is truly what fans desire, and the fact that it’s a sequel to her beloved 2010 album makes it that much better for them.

Ahead of the album’s release next month, Minaj sat down with Vogue for a lengthy interview. This conversation gave some clues about the sound to expect on Pink Friday 2 starting with a quote from Minaj’s longtime engineer Aubry “Big Juice” Delaine. “Imagine a Nicki Minaj greatest hits album,” he said about Pink Friday 2, adding, “but all the songs are new.” The Vogue cover story also notes that the album was written from the “vantage point of a woman who has gotten so many of the things she dreamed about. And yet the past still tugs.”

“When I look back at a lot of my music, I’m like, Oh, my God, where was the me in it?” Minaj added. “So for this album, I went back to the old game plan.”

Elsewhere in the Vogue conversation, Minaj played a song for the interviewer Rob Haskell titled “Big Difference.” It’s described as a record that the rapper wrote “several years ago,” but recently fell back in love with. The interview goes on to say that “Big Difference” separates “Minaj and other rappers, in particular those who come casually into the game, get lucky with a hit on TikTok, and suddenly imagine that fame and clout are their right rather than the outcome of years of hard work.”
