Mary J Blige Teams Up With Fabolous For A Throwback Style Single, “Breathing”

Mary J Blige possesses a timeless voice and is also a true leader of blending hip-hop and soul together. Additionally, you cannot forget her copious number of hit tracks and successful albums. All of these things got her into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year. After notching this feather in her cap, she expressed how much this recognition meant to her. “I’m still trying to process this whole thing. It’s a big deal. I’m just so grateful because I know it didn’t have to be this way, but it is this way, and I give all the credit to God. I don’t even know what else to do. It’s just so humbling,” the performer explained. “I don’t know what to do besides be grateful and thankful”.

However, it seems that Mary J Blige isn’t just okay with this major career milestone. At some point later this year, the New York balladeer is going to release a new album, which also may be her last. She dropped this bombshell on People in late April and while “it’s probably [her] last”, she says she’s been enjoying the process. “I’m actually in the studio right now recording more music, and I’m having fun. I’m having fun no matter what happens”. It looks like one of those “fun” studio sessions produced “Breathing”, a classic Mary J Blige record that also features Fabolous. You can check out the grand and uplifiting single with the music video link below.

Lil Yachty Faces The Wrath Of New York For His Hot Take On The City’s Fashion Scene

Lil Yachty is coming under fire on social media for criticizing New York fashion during the latest episode of his A Safe Place Podcast. The topic arose while speaking with one of the city’s biggest up-and-coming artists, Cash Cobain.

“I feel like New York didn’t have this, like…I don’t want to say identity,” he said at one point. “Y’all are so clearly separated now. As far as like, everyone used to just kinda copy Atlanta.” He added: “As far as style goes, I don’t think it’s sh*t going on when it comes to New York fashion. Y’all like Purple Label, Amiri…and y’all wear a lot of y’all homeboy’s brands. Y’all wear all y’all’s homie’s sh*t. I know, we can tell. I feel just people on those outskirts—Queens, Bronx—do they even come to [Manhattan to shop]?” He did admit he’s seen some good outfits in SoHo.

Fans were predictably upset with Yachty for the remarks. One fan on X (formerly Twitter) shared a picture of the Atlanta rapper rocking a bucket hat and Polo shirt with the caption: “Yachty said n****s from the bronx cant dress its ppl in soho who dress the best in NY. Meanwhile he dressed like a 07 bx n***a.” Another wrote over a separate outfit: “Yea I’m most DEFINITELY not listening to Yachty regarding New York fashion while he’s currently dressed like middle school girl above & a homeless hipster from California below. I’m all the way good on this oxymoron.” Among those to be upset with the comments was Juelz Santana. In a fiery response on Instagram, he tagged several of his fellow New York rappers for backup, including ASAP Rocky, Fabolous, and more.

Eventually, Yachty addressed the backlash to the comments in a post on TikTok. “When you go back to a certain time, it’s for sure New York,” he said. “If you think about lately, trends come from Atlanta. The exhibit showcases a dynamic mix of his notable set designs from the entertainment industry and his thought-provoking fine art pieces, including the “Living Forest” collection. Cumberbatch’s diverse talents shine through his successful projects in film, television, and interior design, with collaborations involving Netflix, Fox, and Robert De Niro.

This exhibition offers a unique look at Cumberbatch’s artistic evolution, highlighting his seamless transition between different creative mediums. French Montana Enlists Fabolous & Fivio Foreign Ahead Of Their Tour For “To The Moon” Single

French Montana, Fivio Foreign, and Fabolous are shooting for the stars on “To The Moon”. This is the Moroccan-American rapper’s most recent offering of 2024 and it comes after a jam-packed first half. The curator put together one of the largest tapes of the year in late February with Mac & Cheese 5. It is the latest entry in the longstanding series and outside of the usual hefty number of songs, the features were also in abundance. Kanye West, Buju Banton, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Westside Gunn, Lil Baby, JID, and Lil Durk were just a few of the stars on tap. Also making it a massive undertaking were the various versions of each track (acapella, instrumental, etc.). However, those have all been removed from streaming.

Now, French Montana is going to be heading out on the first leg of his Gotta See It To Believe It Tour. It kicks off on August 1 in Connecticut and runs through the 25th in historic Philadelphia. However, this next mission will not be accomplished alone, as fellow New York based rappers Fivio Foreign and Fabolous are going to be joining him. This “To The Moon” single is going to be something they can all perform together onstage, and it is trap banger to a tee.

Chow Lee Is Keeping That Toxic Energy On Cash Cobain-Produced Single “Practice!”

Chow Lee and Cash Cobain have essentially grown up together in the music industry. Both are New Yorkers, and each artist loves sex and toxicity. Around this time last year, we started to cover this multi-talented duo, with Cash handling beats as well. In less than a year they have exploded, and we consider them pioneers of this sexy drill sound. Cobain has especially been thriving, as he is now one of the most in-demand producers going right now. Don Toliver, Drake, and Ice Spice are just a few that are riding on his wave. But the producer is going back to his roots as him and Chow Lee are here with “practice!”.

This track quickly follows up on “act bad twin!”, another collab with his close pal, as well as Bay Swag. It is perhaps one Chow and Cash’s moodiest cuts ever. If PARTYNEXTDOOR were to make music like this duo, that is what the production evokes the most to us. It is quickly becoming another hit for Lee, as it already has 155,000 plus streams in less than a month. According to a press release, “practice!” is essentially a continuation of that song, with the non-committal lover meeting his match.

The girl he is rapping about is looking for something more serious, however Chow is not on that energy. Instead, he wants to make her a side piece, but she is not going for it. “She said, “Why you talkin’ like that? You got b****es? You talk about p***y in all of your songs” / Baby, you talkin’ practice, uh“. For Chow, it sounds like he has a new project in the works. However, there is no additional information. Possible singles for the unnamed tape could be “ready 2 live!”, “swag it!”, and “SNA!” just to name a few.

Diddy Reportedly Facing Criminal Investigation In New York From Federal Grand Jury

It looks like the Diddy scandal is about to get a whole lot scarier for the Bad Boy mogul, as a federal indictment could reportedly be closing in. Moreover, two sources allegedly confirmed to NBC News that a federal grand jury in the Southern District of New York is officially involved in a criminal investigation into him and hearing evidence on the matter. While the specific goal, motive, and considerations behind this probe remain a mystery at press time, authorities notified Sean Combs and his legal team of this development last week. Per NBC, this still doesn’t indicate whether or not an indictment will arrive soon.

Furthermore, there’s still a possibility that this criminal investigation doesn’t complete the case, and we might have to wait longer to see what becomes of Diddy in the legal system. This probe is taking place three months after federal raids on his Miami and L.A. properties on multiple accusations and lawsuits alleging sexual assault, abuse, and sex trafficking. The latest of these suits comes from Adria English, who claims Puff Daddy groomed her into sex trafficking work after 2004. She also claimed that he tried to coerce her then-partner into oral sex, included Tamiko Thomas as a defendant for allegedly organizing the sex trafficking ring, and other abhorrent allegations.

Diddy Reportedly Subject To Criminal Investigation

With this whirlwind in mind, it’s no surprise that Diddy recently put his $70 million Los Angeles mansion up for sale recently. The actual details around a potential indictment are still a mystery, and it could still take longer to manifest. Maybe the court chose to gather as much evidence as possible and see how the fallout from other developments changes things. Either way, he’s got a lot to handle.

Meanwhile, Diddy recently went white water rafting in Wyoming, so at least he’s taking his mind off things… or trying to, anyway. We can’t imagine how difficult this scandal must be for the Combs family, regardless of the truth of these allegations. But it’s much more important to get to the bottom of them for the sake of countless other affected families, and it seems like we’re getting closer to that. All that’s left is to wait and see.

Sleepy Hallow Gets Into Fight During New York Court Appearance: Watch

Sleepy Hallow courts controversy wherever he goes. The rapper was arrested on a 140-count indictment in 2023, and subsequently released on bail. He’s still awaiting a proper trial, which is why he was due for a court appearance on June 18. Unfortunately, the standard operating procedure was thrown out of the window when Hallow got into a physical altercation with an unidentified man. The rapper fought with the man in front of several stunned onlookers. One of them even captured the incident on camera.

In the video, Sleepy Hallow can be seen attacking a man who’d already fallen to the floor. Courtroom security tries to pull the rapper off the man, but he gets an extra kick in before being restrained. The incident grew even more chaotic, however, as Hallow’s resistance led to several officers falling to the ground themselves. A second video appears to capture the aftermath of the fight, as Sleepy Hallow is seen wearing handcuffs and behaving noticeably more calm. The voice of a shocked onlooker can be heard saying: “This is the stupidest sh*t I seen in my life.” It’s unclear what the legal repercussions for Sleepy Hallow’s behavior will be.

Sleepy Hallow Was Handcuffed Following The Incident

Hallow has become more known for his public antics than his music in recent months. The NY rapper made a highly-publicized appearance at Donald Trump’s presidential rally in May alongside Sheff G. Sheff G did most of the talking, but Sleepy Hallow made it clear that he was a fan of Trump when he stepped to the microphone and uttered the President’s slogan: “Make American great again,” to an excited crowd.

Sleepy Hallow’s behavior has been criticized by Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez. The D.A. felt it was imperative that rappers like Hallow and Sheff G be punished for their organized crimes. “They take people out, and they’re able to spend money,” Gonzalez told the Associated Press. “And they’re able to encourage others to do some of the gang violence that’s just critically important to them and their status in the community.” Hallow previously served eight months in prison for weapons possession.

DJ Envy Explains Why He Was First NY DJ To Play 2Pac’s “Hit ‘Em Up”

DJ Envy goes back to the golden age of hip-hop. He was mentored by DJ Clue, and made a name for himself on the mixtape circuit before becoming one of the hosts of The Breakfast Club. DJ Envy is best known for his radio commentary these days, but he was spinning records during the peak of the 2Pac and Biggie feud in the mid-1990s. He’s a New York native, which made his recent revelation about the feud, and the role he played in it, so surprising. Envy claims to be the first DJ to throw on ‘Pac’s diss on NY radio.

DJ Envy dropped this bombshell during a recent interview with AllHipHop. He was on the side of Biggie and New York, but he told the outlet that he made a point of spinning 2Pac’s scathing diss “Hit ‘Em Up” whenever he could. His reasoning? It was a way to stand out in a crowded field. “I got that record first, and it was like I know a lot of DJs weren’t going to play it,” he reasoned. He cited names like Kid Capri, Craig G, and even his mentor, Clue, as people who were firmly against the concept of giving ‘Pac air time. “At the time,” he admitted. “I was behind everybody… And I was like, ‘I need to get my foot in the door.’”

DJ Envy Leveraged The Song To Boost His Profile

The gambit worked. DJ Envy threw “Hit ‘Em Up” on his mixtapes, and the attention that the song got, both good and bad, worked to his benefit. “I was like ‘I’m gonna play this record’ and then we’ll go from there,” he recalled. “We’ll see what happens. So, they gave me the record and I said, ‘This is going to be one of the biggest mixtapes ever.’” DJ Envy did acknowledge the danger that came with giving air time to the West Coast. He also noted that 2Pac and Biggie were irritated by the decision. Still, a way in is a way in. “It went crazy,” Envy recalled. “At the time, I know Big and Puff was mad. But I was getting my foot in the door and it was music. And that’s where it started.”

DJ Envy’s promotion of the 2Pac and Biggie feud is fascinating when placed in contrast to his opinion on the recent Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar battle. While Breakfast Club co-host Charlamagne tha God labeled it the greatest battle of all time, Envy was underwhelmed. The DJ took issue with the spreading of what seemed to be false information. “Is there any proof of the rap? No,” he asserted. “I think both sides are corny with it. It’s very dangerous… I just wanted to see a rap battle.”
