Kendrick Lamar Chronicles Some Of His Toughest Career Decisions On “Heart Pt. 6”

“The Heart” series has returned to its rightful owner. With the stunning release of GNX over the weekend, Kendrick Lamar has also taken back his claim to fame. Drake’s attempt to one-up K. Dot at his own game didn’t go so well, as many spectators of the beef were pretty disgusted with it. In fact, him removing “THE HEART PART 6” from his social media further cemented it as the least significant record during the beef. All along, it set things up perfectly for Kendrick Lamar to properly release “heart pt. 6.”

So far, it’s one of the most talked about songs on the tracklist thanks to its detailed chronicling of some important moments. During the near five-minute story, Lamar recalls how his relationships evolved with some of TDE’s current stars such as Ab-Soul, ScHoolboy Q, TDE Punch, and Dave Free. The accounts with Q and Punch are especially raw and inspirational, as Lamar was always learning from everyone at the label no matter their standing within. On the third verse of “heart pt. 6,” Kendrick Lamar then fast forwards things to him becoming a superstar and him “carryin’ debates of a top five.” At this point, Lamar painfully realizes that it may be time to part ways with TDE. He has goals in mind of becoming more than just an MC, and he felt he “poured everything I had left in the family business.” It’s a gripping listen, as Kendrick proves to be a master storyteller time and time again.

“Heart Pt. 6” – Kendrick Lamar

Quotable Lyrics:

I jog my memory, knowin’ Black Hippy didn’t work ’cause of me
Creatively, I moved on with new concepts in reach
Top, remember all them sessions we would strategize
To hit the streets, then come back, record three records? Ah
To tell the truth, it f***ed me up when D-Man passed
The motive was the condolences, but the pride crashed

Kendrick Lamar Appears To Make Vague Diddy Reference On “wacced out murals”

Kendrick Lamar has a lot of blunt, direct, intense, and hard bars all over his surprise new album GNX, but some lyrical mentions are a bit more vague. For example, a lot of fans raised their eyebrows at this particular line off of the project’s opening track, “wacced out murals.” “N***as cackling about [silence] while all of y’all is on trial,” he raps on the cut. K.Dot’s omission of the name in the song, plus the mention of the trial, got many folks thinking that he’s talking about the Diddy scandal. Sadly, though, it could also refer to other criminal proceedings in hip-hop, such as Lil Durk and Young Thug’s predicaments.

At the end of the day, this is just a theory, and one that Kendrick Lamar clearly wanted to leave open to interpretation. But most of the other verses on here don’t offer listeners that luxury, instead opting for declarative statements that would be hard to misinterpret. For example, he also addressed the Super Bowl halftime show controversy involving Lil Wayne, making it clear that his Weezy fandom doesn’t make him feel any less indignant.

Kendrick Lamar’s “wacced out murals”

However, there are also some other moments on GNX where Kendrick Lamar gets more personally revealing, such as his remarks on his Black Hippy supergroup with Ab-Soul, Jay Rock, and ScHoolboy Q on TDE. These land on the track “heart pt. 6.” “I jog my memory, knowing Black Hippy didn’t work because of me / Creatively, I moved on with new concepts in reach,” he raps on the song. Of course, that track is also notable for its title, one that Drake already used in his battle with Kendrick earlier this year.

All that’s to say that Kendrick Lamar doesn’t pull many punches on GNX, but it’s understandable why he would want to treat the Diddy situation with caution – if that was really his intention, that is. Either way, he probably knows exactly what he’s doing with lines like that, and the impact is sometimes far more important than the intent. We’ll see what other curious bars, possible theories, and lyrical interpretations emerge as we continue to dive into this LP.

Kendrick Lamar Shocks The World With New “GNX” Snippet

Kendrick Lamar might be ready to drop his next album soon, as he just uploaded a new song snippet and video titled “GNX” on his YouTube page on Friday (November 22). What does this mean? We have no idea, but we can’t wait to find out. Maybe this is tied to something else that he’s got on the way, or it’s really about a new LP after the heck of a year that he’s had… and what’s still to come. The new song sounds dramatic, gritty, and quite varied and evolutionary, which is exactly what we love about the Compton lyricist. People are already theorizing and reading deep into the lyrics, so let’s see what people find.

Lil Nas X Slows It Down With Seductive New Single “NEED DAT BOY”

Lil Nas X is in an interesting place. The rapper was a record-breaking superstar a few short years ago, but he has struggled to come up a sophomore album. Buzz singles have failed to connect, and he has even had to contend with accusations of relying too heavily on controversy to sell music. Lil Nas X is taking a different approach with his new rollout, though. The rapper appears to be focused on music quality, as evidenced by his first DREAMBOY single, “LIGHT AGAIN!.” Nas X is back with his second offering, “NEED DAT BOY,” and its another winner.

“NEED DAT BOY” is a perfect balance to the bouncy, club ready “LIGHT AGAIN!” It’s slowed down and sensual. It’s one of the most lush R&B ballads that Lil Nas X has released to date, and it suits his voice surprisingly well. It’s nothing groundbreaking in terms of content or even delivery, but it’s well done. Lil Nas X has a knack for finding catchy pockets within his instrumentals, and the same goes for his vocal performance on “NEED DAT BOY.” It’s difficult to imagine this song blowing up the way that something like “Old Town Road” or “Industry Baby” did, but that is not a slight at all on its quality. Nas X has a lot to prove on his next album, and so far, he’s delivering.

Let us know what you think of this brand-new track, in the comments section down below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will continue to keep you informed on all of your favorite artists and their upcoming projects.

Playboi Carti Confirms More Music After Snippet: “I’m Not Done At All”

Playboi Carti is really selling the album rollout in November. The rapper has everybody ready for new music in September, but he went radio silent after the release of the single “All Red.” These days, you can’t get Carti off Instagram. The rapper’s account was actually shut down for a brief period. Playboi Carti was back with a vengeance on November 21, though. The rapper dropped a snippet for a song tentatively titled “Play This.” A snippet would have been more than enough to satisfy fans. It was the comments Carti made afterwards, though, that really got fans excited.

Playboi Carti assured fans that new music was imminent. He took the to comment section under his own snippet and told fans to prepare for an onslaught of new material in the near future. “I’m not done at all,” he wrote. Carti then claimed that the “Play This” snippet, while dope, is not even good enough to be on the I AM MUSIC final tracklist. “DIs sum cool sh*t I wanted y’all to hear,” the rapper added. “BC I love dis song but da sh*t dats on my album overly trimm.” The hype could not be more real. Carti has rarely ever been so vocal about his plans to release music.

Playboi Carti Hyped Up His Album As “Overly Trimm”

Playboi Carti also pinned a comment made by another instagram user. The user reflected on the rollout Carti has given fans thus far, and speculated as to why the rapper takes so long. “[I] realized a few years back we just go through test phases with Carti,” the user proposed. “Spends about 2-3 testing sounds through leaks. Then lands somewhere in the middle of it all.” The IG user went on to voice his admiration for Carti’s alleged approach. “The wait used to p*ss me off but you can’t rush art.” Playboi Carti evidently liked what this user had to say. Him pinning the comment to his snippet suggests that he agrees with at least part of the sentiment.

Playboi Carti has expressed reverence for the recording process and his creative muse. During a recent interview with Billboard, the rapper detailed the unorthodox way that he approaches making a song. “It’s all based on confidence. I believe in myself,” he noted. “The moment I started recording, someone came to me and said that they like my songs. I stay in the studio every day.” Carti also claimed to be aware of how his music will translate live, even before it’s done. “I’m always thinking about performing, even when I am making the music,” he added. Hopefully fans will get to see Carti perform new music sooner rather than latter.

Playboi Carti Surprise Drops New Snippet “Play This” On Instagram

Playboi Carti has something cooking this week. No, really. The rapper may have spent the last few years teasing fans in an endless start and stop cycle. He has made some particularly bold promises as of late, though. The rapper not only gave crucial information about his upcoming album, but he dropped a brand new song snippet on Thursday night. Playboi Carti uploaded a minute and a half snippet under the title of “Play This” on his Instagram. No announcement, no fancy artwork. Just new music.

The instrumental is one of Carti’s most lush. It goes through various cycles, and has a hazy, trap feel too it that differs greatly from “All Red.” It’s the most chilled out Playboi Carti has sounded in a long time, and it suits him. It’s also worth noting that the rapper sounds more like himself on “Play This.” A huge talking point regarding “All Red” was the fact that Carti sounds like he was doing a Future impression instead of relying on any of his signature vocal inflections. Those who are looking for less Pluto in their Playboi Carti music will be pleased with the new snippet.

Playboi Carti Ditches The “All Red” Future Flow

The lyrics are typical Carti, but the snippet does given fans a good sense of the song’s shape. There’s a catchy refrain, and the rapper delves into his luxurious lifestyle. “Spent a quarter, that’s just on thе rent,” he spits. “All thеse diamonds, I got on that bling (Yeah). Hit the room and I made that b*tch sing. Hit the door, that b*tch act like a fiend (Yeah).” Per usual, its the rapper’s flow, his cadence, and his charisma that set him apart.

The existence of the snippet bodes well for the future. Playboi Carti has been teasing the release of his new album, I AM MUSIC, for a while. The aforementioned details surrounding the album, though, lead us to believe it’s actually close to being done. Carti told fans that he doesn’t want to have any artists listed as guest features on the album. Evidently, he wants to tackle his new sound on his own. He did say that Kanye West would be heavily involved with the album’s production, though. “He over here making beats and sh*t,” Playboi Carti told a Vegas crowd. “That album gonna be crazy, I can’t wait to show y’all n*gas.”

Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre Team Up With Alus For Hard-Hitting Single “Outta Da Blue”

Snoop Dogg is currently gearing up to unleash his highly anticipated album with Dr. Dre, Missionary. The project will be a follow-up to his iconic 1993 debut, Doggystyle, and is slated for release on December 13. To get listeners excited about what’s to come, the California-born rapper unveiled yet another single today, “Outta Da Blue.” It features both Dr. Dre and New Jersey songstress Alus.

They first previewed the new track at ComplexCon a few days ago. It’s also featured in the trailer for an upcoming Netflix film, “Back In Action,” which stars Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz. Aside from producing the track, fans hear Dr. Dre deliver some hard-hitting bars. The song even samples M.I.A.’s 2007 single, “Paper Planes.” The release of “Outta Da Blue” comes just weeks after Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre unveiled the star-studded Missionary tracklist, and left supporters more eager than ever to hear what they have up their sleeve.

It features the likes of BJ The Chicago Kid, Jhené Aiko, Tom Petty, Jelly Roll, Sting, Method Man, 50 Cent, Eminem, and many more. This isn’t the only new material they’ve gotten from the duo in recent weeks, however. During a live episode of Drink Champs at ComplexCon, they also debuted several other snippets from the album. They even previewed the Sting collab they’ve been teasing since this summer, which interpolates his band The Police’s “Message In A Bottle.” Already, they’ve been receiving a great deal of praise for what they’ve come up with, and fans can’t wait for the rest of Missionary.

Jack Harlow Swoops By To Say “Hello Miss Johnson” In New Single: Stream

Jack Harlow is falling for a girl, and he wants to communicate that in one of the most relatable ways possible: wild neighborhood antics? Moreover, he just released the new single and music video “Hello Miss Johnson,” and as the title suggests, it’s about his love for a partner and how he’s basically asking her mother for her blessing. In the music video, you see a lot of random home security camera footage of some shenanigans in a pretty nice neighborhood, most of which depict the Kentucky rapper doing romantic gestures, rapping to the doorbell camera, or taking his partner home. It’s a pretty creative and quirky set of visuals from the YBN fan, which fits the tone of the track itself.

On “Hello Miss Johnson” Jack Harlow delivers buttery and calm flows over a bossa nova sample with very minimal additional percussion, such as some snaps and muffled kicks here and there. It’s a really nice pallet for the “Lovin On Me” MC, especially as it’s been a while since we heard new music from him. He’s dabbled in more movie fare and also released some sneaker collabs, and we’re happy to say that none of this took away from his musical talent. In fact, this is probably one of this catalog’s best tracks in a while, as its topical charm and simple beat are a treat. Find the song on your preferred streaming service or check out the music video on YouTube below. Down there, you can also find some standout bars and the comments section for you to leave your thoughts on the track.

Lupe Fiasco Serves Up A Fight Song On “Pound For Pound”

Lupe Fiasco is easily one of the most respected MCs in the entire world and for good reason. Overall, his catalog is filled with classic records. Even now, Lupe is putting out some of his best work, and the concepts continue to be on point. His album Samurai was easily one of the best of the entire year and it certainly deserves all of the praise in the world. Even with this latest project filed away, it appears as though Lupe is still hungry to give fans more music.

For instance, today, he dropped off a new track simply called “Pound For Pound.” Upon putting on this track, you can immediately hear what he is trying to go for with this. The song sounds like something that would be used as a compilation of clips for when a boxer or UFC fighter is walking out for their fight. The beat even has a Kanye West “Black Skinhead” vibe to it that fans will appreciate. Although, the theme of the song begs questions about whether or not this track is just a one-off or perhaps part of a soundtrack of some sort.

Whatever the case may be, it is always good to hear some new music from the likes of Lupe Fiasco. He is an artist who continue to get better with age. Consequently, we are never going to say no to a new song or project. With that being said, there is no doubt that Lupe could very well be in some album of the year discussions. After all, we are almost at the end of 2024.

Tanna Leone Impresses With Blistering Flows On “Stuntman”

Back in 2022, Tanna Leone was signed to pgLang where he immediately made an impact. He came through with some new music as an introduction before being featured on the song “Mr. Morale” from Kendrick Lamar’s album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. Unfortunately, Leone’s relationship with pgLang has not proven to be a lengthy or fruitful one. Earlier this year, it was revealed that Leone was no longer signed to pgLang. There was no reasoning given for this, so fans have been left to speculate.

Regardless, Leone is still out here making new music which is certainly good news for all of the fans out there. Recently, Leone blessed fans with a new song called “Stuntman” which is supposed to come off of his upcoming album. As you will hear, this song is short but it is certainly effective as we hear numerous different flows from Leone. Furthermore, the production is bombastic and energetic, making this an undeniable banger.

When it comes to new artists, you want their art to be filled with personality. There needs to be something there for fans to latch onto so that they can keep coming back for future releases. This is definitely something Leone’s music has and it is why fans continue to look forward to whatever he has on the horizon. Hopefully, we get a new album, very soon.
