Matt Ox Offers Up A Menacing Banger With “Dark Matter”

Overall, Matt Ox is an artist who started out when he was just about 12-13 years old. His first track was “Overwhelming,” a viral hit that was characterized by some fidget spinners and incredible production. Subsequently, the Working On Dying collective blew up and have since done production for numerous artists. Furthermore, they have a breakout star in BNYX who is now signed to Yeat’s label. However, as it pertains to Ox, he has taken a different route. The kid still makes music, and is a full-grown adult now.

What makes OX’s come up so interesting is the fact that he has gone on to become an underground rap darling. He dabbles in hyperpop from time to time and he also offers up some sounds that fans wouldn’t have expected from his 2017 output. Recently, Ox put out a brand new track called “Dark Matter,” and as you will hear below, it is an absolute banger. Ox has not lost his touch, and there is no doubt fans are going to enjoy what he is doing with this cut.

Lil Nas X Drops Catchy Single “Trust Me” Ahead Of New Mixtape

Lil Nas X has really kept fans waiting. His debut album, MONTERO, was a huge breakthrough release in 2021, earning a platinum certification and three Grammy nominations. The rapper been has been quiet in subsequent years, however, despite confirming that his next release will be a sequel to his breakthrough mixtape, NASARATI. There have been leaks, teasers, and official lead singles for NASARATI 2, but 2024 seems to be the years fans will actually get to hear it. Lil Nas X’s latest single, “Trust Me,” only supports this theory.

Lil Nas X teased “Trust Me” in March, but he finally blessed fans with the full version on April 24. The song differs drastically from the rapper’s previous teaser, “Lean On My Body,” which opted for a more melodic, pop-rap approach. “Trust Me,” by contrast, goes for a harder, more gritty sound. This can be registered in the single artwork, which sees the often flamboyantly dressed Nas X rocking a tank top and jean shorts. The “Industry Baby” rapper focuses on his teenage years and the difficulty he had coming to terms with his sexuality. “Back in middle school, I was fiending for d*ck,” he raps. “7th grade, sending my homies some pics. Daddy never knew what I did as a kid, he would’ve crucified me but…”

Lil Nas X Talks About His Struggles As A Teen

The second verse lays out Lil Nas X’s struggles in the current day. He raps about health concerns, wealth goals, and his insecurities as a pop star. The transparency extends the the chorus: “Anytime I’m wrong I’ll admit it, why not,” he sings. “Rather tell the truth than pretend, why lie?.” Nas X has always been honest with his music, and “Trust Me” is a reminder than he can do so over a simple, catchy hip-hop beat. The song is currently streaming on SoundCloud, which is where NASARATI 2 will eventually be released.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song, “Trust Me,” by Lil Nas X? Does the rapper keep his hot streak going? Do you like the stripped-down approach to the production? Do you think NASARATI 2 will be Nas X’s best project yet? We want to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Gucci Mane Bombs On Diddy With New Diss Track “TakeDat”

There wasn’t enough feuding in hip-hop, so Gucci Mane decided to get in on the act. The Atlanta legend dropped a surprise track on April 24 titled “TakeDat,” but even more surprising than the drop was the aim of the track. “TakeDat” is blatant diss at at Sean “Diddy” Combs, complete with a music video and cover art that mocks Diddy’s most iconic moments. Gucci does not hold back in the rapping department, as he references several of the mogul’s alleged crimes in his lyrics.

“TakeDat” may not sound like a diss based on the intro, but the target immediately becomes clear in the opening verse. Gucci raps about earning platinum plaques for his artists and taking out his ops, ending each of his bars with the phrase “No Diddy.” The phrase “No Diddy” was popularized by 50 Cent on X (formerly Twitter), but Gucci went the extra mile by making it the chorus of a song. “We gettin’ higher than a kite, no Diddy,” he raps during the opener. “See my artists double plaque, no Diddy. Sippin’ on yak, no Diddy. Couple n**gas got whacked, no Diddy. “Keep the shooters with the strap, no Diddy.”

Gucci Mane Uses Diddy’s Catchphrase To Clown Him

The music video sees Gucci Mane recreate an iconic scene from The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Big Poppa” video. Diddy posted up in a bathtub with women in the 1994 video, and Gucci responds by doing the same thing while shouting “No Diddy.” There are references to Diddy-assisted classics like “Mo Money Mo Problems,” but the simpler lines prove to be most effective. Gucci makes fun of Diddy “dancin’ like a ho” and getting his “a*s touched” before coming back with the chorus. “TakeDat” does get repetitive by the end of its four-minute runtime, but it is ultimately an effective diss.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new diss, “TakeDat” by Gucci Mane? Does Gucci Mane effectively body Sean “Diddy” Combs? Do you like the rhyme scheme and chorus of the track? Do you think Diddy will get a chance to respond? We want to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news on Gucci Mane. Finally, stay with us for the most informative song posts throughout the week.

Quotable Lyrics:

But I blow a n**ga car up like he Curtis (Huh?)
I’m on the yacht, takin’ shots, no Diddy (Woah)
Pay for top from the thot, no Diddy (Damn)
Some n**gas wanna boss me, I’m not 50 (Uh-uh)
But get a n**ga a*s touched like Biggie, no Diddy

Bladee & Yung Lean Further Their Chemistry On “TERRIBLE EXCELLENCE”

Bladee and Yung Lean go together like peanut butter and jelly. The natives of Sweden are almost always able to display synergy whenever they are on a track together. They might not have as many collaborations as Metro Boomin and Future, for example, but their creative minds do not clash and create chaos. Which is why this new track from Bladee, “TERRIBLE EXCELLENCE,” sounds great.

This is one of the duo’s latest collaborations and it lands on Bladee’s newest project, Cold Visions. It is the 19th offering and second of 2024. The last album we got from him was just last month with Lean called Psykos. Cold Visions features a massive 30-song tracklist and this is just one of the team ups with Bladee and Yung Lean.

It is the fourth out of the five outings, and we think it is the strongest out of the pack. The beat, provided by Whitearmor and F1LTHY is incredibly aggressive and bassy. It fits the rest of the tracklist really well due to its commitment of being dark in tone. Bladee and Lean are rapping about how they are essentially addicted to loneliness and being a lone wolf. “I wanna kill everything just like Chucky, the boys lucky
The shards on me shine lucky, I’m out hunting / The knife, need to find something, I’m blood hungry
,” Bladee raps.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song “TERRIBLE EXCELLENCE” by Bladee and Yung Lean? Is this their best collaboration of all time, why or why not? Was this Lean’s strongest guest performance on Cold Visions? Where does this song rank amongst the rest if the project’s tracklist? Chicken P Continues His Rise With The Braggadocious “Ain’t Running Out”

Chicken P is someone we shed some light on just about a week ago when he featured on a new Myaap single “Actin Up.” Even though it was a wild banger, it did not feature what he could do for a full song. Well, today is our first full coverage of Chicken P and we are going to be looking at one he just dropped called “Ain’t Running Out.” What is exciting about this release in particular as well, is the fact that this will be a single for a new project he has in the works.

He has been dropping music since 2018, so he is no rookie at all. But over the last few months or so, he has really picked up some momentum. “Ain’t Running Out” sees Chicken P flexing hard with bars about expensive and exclusive clothing, jewelry, and lavish cars. The stunning Rolls-Royce convertible shown in the music video shows his dedication to sticking to the themes in the songs he creates and implementing them into the visuals.

Niontay Looks To Establish Himself On “Halftones” With RealYungPhil & SURF GANG

As we have repeated constantly hear at HNHH, 2023 was a bit of a dud for hip-hop in the mainstream. It was more so the lesser-known acts and underground talents shouldering the load. That is never a bad thing though, as artists that are not quite at the level of a Drake or Kendrick Lamar do not always get enough credit. This year has been a return to form for the top-flight rappers, but the underground is continuing to churn out some fun and interesting material. One artist that is building something exciting is Milwaukee rapper Niontay. The 25-year-old currently resides in Brooklyn, New York and has been making music since 2021. Today, Niontay just dropped a new single “Halftones,” and we wanted to shed light on it.

“Halftones” features RealYungPhil and SURF GANG with a production credit presumably. The 10k signee raps with a druggy flow in a lower register that exudes confidence and an extreme sense of nonchalance. YungPhil also brings a catchy chorus to the table over a dreamy trap beat. All in all it comes together for a cohesive listen that has the potential to do well for Niontay.

On top of the fact that it should do well on its own, “Halftones” should also help carry momentum after a strong 2023 for Niontay. He was busy with features last year, with notable placements for MIKE’s Burning Desire. The beginning of 2024 has also been a productive year in that regard, as Niontay was on MIKE’s recent effort Pinball, and RiTchie’s debut solo tape Triple Digits [112]. Be sure to check out “Halftones” with the link above.

Quavo Drops Scathing Chris Brown Diss “Over Hoes & B*tches”

Quavo didn’t waste any time. Chris Brown escalated his beef with the Migos rapper on Friday by dropping the fiery diss track “Weakest Link.” The R&B singer claimed he slept with Quavo’s girlfriend when they were still together, and implied Quavo was the worst member of the aforementioned rap trio. The hip-hop world may have been taken aback by how nasty Brown got, but it seems like Quavo saw it coming. He dropped his response track, “Over Hoes & B*tches,” on Monday night, and it does not pull any punches.

Quavo isn’t alone on the diss. He uses unreleased vocals from Takeoff on the chorus, which is a direct response to a line in Brown’s diss. In “Weakest Link,” the R&B singer said that fans wished it was Quavo who died, and not Takeoff, so Quavo enlists the late great to shut him up. Takeoff provides some tough bars about Brown being a phony and fake tough guy, but it’s Quavo’s verses that hit hardest. He blasts Brown for starting a feud over a woman, rapping: “P**sy, every time you see me, keep that energy, can’t believe I gotta beat you ’bout some women beef.”

Quavo Dubs Brown “Crackhead Michael Jackson”

There’s some slick wordplay littered throughout the diss. It’s the drug bars, however, that’s going to catch most listeners off guard. Quavo accuses Brown of being a drug addict, going as far as to call him “Crackhead Michael Jackson.” He dismisses the R&B singer of not being worth his time since became a “junkie,” and even alludes to Brown’s struggles with mental health. “The cocaine got ’em, your honor,” he raps on the track. “Bipolar disorder, no wonder. You was the greatest, n**ga, you fumbled, going out sad, I’m watching you crumble.” Breezy is not going to like what he hears. It’s hard to imagine this feud ending anytime soon.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new diss, “Over Hoes & B*tches” by Quavo? Does Quavo gain the upper hand in the feud? Did he cross the line by mentioning Brown’s alleged drug problems? Will Brown keep things going with another response? We want to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news on Quavo. Finally, stay with us for the most informative song posts throughout the week.

$uicideboy$ Tease Forthcoming LP With “Are You Going To See The Rose In The Vase, Or The Dust On The Table”

The $uicideboy$ have garnered quite the following over the years. The duo of Anthony Mars and Norman Atomic has been going strong since 2014 with a copious number of records and smash tracks to boot. For the Louisiana emo/horrorcore collective, they have not dropped an album since December 16, 2022. That was a collaboration project with Germ. But the $uicideboy$ will be making a solo return soon and they getting ready for it with “Are You Going to See the Rose in the Vase, or the Dust on the Table.”

This is now the second single for their 19th overall project. The first offering, “Us Vs. Them,” dropped back on March 29. The $uicideboy$ went for a grimy boom-bap vibe that sounded like something The Alchemist would craft in the studio. It has become an overnight sensation, already racking up nearly 16.5 million streams at the time of writing.

As for “Are You Going to See the Rose in the Vase, or the Dust on the Table,” it takes on more of a trap aesthetic. The cowbells and heavy bass have been combo that we have seen used more and more often. It works well here, as the $uicideboy$ rap about drugs, feeling lonely, and wondering if anyone is going to offer support. Their new album New World Depression is due on June 14 and will feature 13 tracks.
