Kid Cudi & Denzel Curry Are Heroes On New Single “Black Ops”: Stream

As one of music’s most multi-talented creatives, it’s no surprise that Kid Cudi eventually got around to co-writing his own comic series. Moreover, Moon Man launched with its first issue over the weekend with Kyle Higgins also at the helm, and in similarly expected fashion, he released some music meant to accompany the series. For this first installment, we have an exciting collab to kick things off: “Black Ops” with the one and only Denzel Curry. While this team-up surprised fans, it’s very interesting to see how the INSANO multi-hyphenate and the main brain behind TA13OO mesh together.

In fact, they switch up our expectations right off the bat, as Kid Cudi opens the song vocally with a pretty melodic rap flow and his typical lyrical matter of girls, drugs, and his hectic path to success. On the other hand, Denzel Curry reaches into his singing bag, crafting rapid lines and switch-ups in a similar way. There’s a lot of chemistry between their performances, and the instrumental is as woozy, trap-centered, and simple as that of Cudi’s aforementioned 2024 album. Even though some fans didn’t like it very much (us included), it’s heartening to hear him tap into more positive soundscapes and emotional pallets. When the fundamentals are as solid as they are here, this is a fitting loose for Moon Man as he continues to brush criticism off his shoulder.

Meanwhile, you can unfortunately only find “Black Ops” on SoundCloud at press time. Despite some fans wanting another direction, the Florida MC’s recent defense of Joey Bada$$’s new style shows that they would much rather innovate and try new things. With that in mind, the All Is Yellow collaborators crafted a straightforward but welcome banger here that pushed their current lanes further. UnoTheActivist Puts Out Grimy Banger “Lil X”

Underground and internet rappers are making a massive comeback right now. One of the leaders that is spearheading that return is New York producer evilgiane. He, along with his Surf Gang rap armada have been tearing things up on Soundcloud and the rest of the streaming platforms. They have been for the past couple of months now. However, one of them that got a slight head start on this trend is UnoTheActivist.

He is the cousin of mainstream rage and trap superstar, Playboi Carti. Both grew up in the state of Georgia and UnoTheActivist has even worked with him in the past. The 27-year-old has been in the game since 2022 only, but his presence has been felt amongst listeners. People appreciate his work and for good reason. Uno likes to produce spacey, lowkey bangers, which is a popular sound from this wave of talent.

For Uno, 2023 was maybe his most active year ever. Skilla, like most of the MCs from the city, is aggressive, gritty, and has a blue-collar mentality. Zacari Wants To Stick By His Woman’s Side On “Ocean”

Right at the start of 2024, we had a feeling that this year would be a much busier year for hip-hop/R&B music. 2023 had its fair share of highlights for sure. The Bakersfield, California singer has been teasing his sophomore LP, Stereo Miracle, for nearly one year to the day. “Motions” got things in motion (pun intended) on February 10. Then, Zacari would go on to collaborate with fellow R&B singer Ty Dolla $ign for “Ave Maria” back in October. Both singles are shaping this next album to be a solid one for Zacari.

24kGoldn Continues To Go Introspective On “Clarity”

24kGoldn really came on strong a couple of years ago. But, after a little bit of a break, the San Francisco, California product is gearing back up for a return. He was always able to deliver melodic, sometimes sappy tracks. But, this time, 24kGoldn is doing more of the ladder as of late. Who knows, maybe we will get some songs like “Mood” on his upcoming record.

Yes, you heard that correctly. After almost a two-year album hiatus, 24k is coming back with a new LP this year. Still only 23, the multi-hyphenate has announced Better Late Than Never, his sophomore offering. Interestingly though, 24kGoldn has been teasing this project since dropping El Dorado in 2021. The first rumored single that is on the Genius tracklist for the tape is “Prada” with Lil Tecca.

If this makes the record, then this album will have a similar vibe to the debut. XV is one of those rappers that does not seem to get enough credit. He is not a face of hip-hop, but that does not mean he is not super talented. The long-time MC hailing from Wichita, Kansas has always given listeners some fun and catchy bangers that sound good in the headphones. XV can bring the quick one-liners whenever he wants, adding to his contagious character. One track of his that has some recognition, but perhaps not enough of it, is “Awesome.” If anyone grew up playing the early 2010s NBA 2K video games that song made it onto the soundtrack.

XV even grabbed Pusha T for a version and it hits hard to this day. Hopping off the nostalgia train for a second, he is back with a new single. This one features production from MIKE SUMMERS, as well as a verse from the talented WESTSIDE BOOGIE. This is the first time we have seen these two MCs on one track and we might need more down the road.

Dthang Gz Flips “Annie” Musical On New Single “Last Day In”

He also goes by Dthang Gz and this is just his second time on the HNHH website. The last time we spoke about him was when French Montana grabbed him and T DOT for “I Got A Feeling.”

That song sampled and flipped the Black Eyed Peas’ biggest hit of the same name. Interestingly, Dthang is doing the same thing on his latest single. “Last Day In” does not share the name of another popular song. In this case, it comes down to the familiar vocals weaving in and out of the track.

Yes, your ears do not deceive you. Those are the little girls singing “Hard Knock Life” from the musical classic Annie. Dthang uses those background vocals to help describe his life at the moment. The 21-year-old rapper was supposed to serve three to five years after a massive indictment against the River Park Towers gang for numerous shootings that took place. Dthang, along with a host of other rappers were hit with charges of conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, attempted assault, animal cruelty, and criminal possession of a weapon, according to HipHopDX. Dthang’s arrest was in 2022, so he was fortunate and looks to improve based on the lyrics of “Last Day In.”

That Mexican OT is that guy for sure. The Bay City, Texas native is a load of fun on almost every track he puts out. A couple of weeks ago, the now 25-year-old boisterous rapper put out a banger of a single called “02.02.99.” Its dark, multi-phased instrumental, along with OT’s hilarious and violent bars made for one of the best singles of January.

Now, the “Johnny Dang” hitmaker is back for seconds just a short time later. This time, he brings along a first-time partner in rhyme, DaBaby. “Point Em Out” is another murderous single that sees both MCs on a manhunt of sorts. That is especially telling in the accompanying music video below.

Lil Yachty Recalls Writing A Hit For City Girls On New Track “A Cold Sunday”

Lil Yachty recently unveiled his new track “A Cold Sunday” to kick off yet another year of successful releases. So far, listeners are loving the song, praising the Georgia-born performer for his lyrical prowess. The jazzy single also sees Lil Yachty revisit writing a hit for City Girls, the 2018 Girl Code cut “Act Up.”

“She a City Girl, I’m the real reason that she ‘Act Up,’” he reminisces on the song. This is far from the first time Lil Yachty has boasted about writing the fan-favorite, however. According to him, he made a killing off of the raunchy track, which is why he’s remained unfazed by criticism. “That was an eight-figure check, no cap, and it’s still coming!” he told fans on Instagram Live in 2020. “Seven, I’m sorry. Seven. Look, let me talk to whoever that civilian was on the last insert, whoever that nice civilian was. These n***as be so closed-minded, right? And these n***as ain’t never seen no real money, right?”

Lil Yachty Unveils New Song “A Cold Sunday”

Back in 2019, he also detailed how the song came to life in an interview with The Fader. According to him, he had to get out of his comfort zone to come up with some of the lyrics, which ultimately proved to be successful. “One day I was in the studio with my best friend Earl and he played the beat and said, ‘Write something for City Girls,’ and I was like, ‘Okay.’ And I just did it,” he described.

“I know them personally, and I know what women like to hear. What’s some, like, raunchy sh*t? Conway The Machine Releases Big Ghost Ltd. Edition Of “Latex Gloves” With Lloyd Banks & 38 Spesh

In early September of last year, legendary New York MCs Conway the Machine and 38 Spesh combined their talents for a collaboration tape. Cleverly named Speshal Machinery, the all-killer and no-filler 10-song tracklist featured strong tracks front to back. Both Conway and Spesh were on their A-game, bringing gritty and intelligent wordplay throughout. Production was also a highlight, especially on tracks like “Latex Gloves.”

It was one of the few songs previewed before its project’s September 9th release date. “Latex Gloves” featured production from 38 Spesh and Jimmy Dukes, as well as a verse from Lloyd Banks. With it being one of the stronger cuts from the stacked tracklist, how could it get any better? Well, look no further than the “Big Ghost Ltd. Version.”

This is not the first time Conway has gotten the talented producer to redo one of his tracks. It seems they are remastering each song from Speshal Machinery, including “Latex Gloves.” What is cool about these collabs, is that Big Ghost does a great job giving you something totally different without it doing too much. He is known to bring darker sounds into the fold and that is the case here. There is a cool West Coast nod with the sharp synths as soon as 38 starts his verse. “Goodfellas” was also redone a couple of weeks ago, so maybe there will be a Big Ghost version of the album instead of just having them as singles.
