Playboi Carti has been a major talking point in the hip-hop world this weekend for a couple of reasons. For one, he finally gave us more details on his in-demand project, I AM MUSIC. The eventual third album doesn’t have a release date still, but we now have an album cover (multiple ones at that), bundles and merch, as well as a lead single. “ALL RED” looks to be just that despite all of the previous IG and YouTube exclusive releases we got earlier this year. While there is a healthy number of people that are messing with the song, there’s an equally large camp that’s not.

Carti pretty much sounds like Future on the cut, and with how long listeners have waited on him, they felt let down. But rest assured, there’s still tons of hype surrounding this release. Just check out this little boy’s reaction to another new song snippet. The video is going quite viral, as Carti and the infant hilariously but adorably share a wholesome moment in public.

For about 20 seconds both of them dance together and even share a high five at the end of it. Fans made some comical remarks about the clip but are also excited about the track’s potential. “Lil bro dont know who carti is or anything just vibin to the music. Best way to know your music hitting”, one IG user says. Another says, “that might be the best sounding snippet of all time”. “Baby knows it’s a classic”, someone else adds. It definitely has an ear-grabbing sound to it, and Carti is seemingly bringing back the OG delivery for this one, too. Obviously, there’s no word on if this will drop, but we hope it does soon.

Kanye West Surprises Fans At China Show With New Song Preview

Kanye West fans in China were in for a treat at his VULTURES listening party with Ty Dolla $ign, getting more than what they bargained for. Moreover, he previewed a new song seemingly titled “Preacher Man,” which features some simple and high-pitched vocal sampling under his passionate auto-tuned singing, eventually leading into a rap verse and earthy electric guitar strums. It sounds reminiscent of 808s & Heartbreak to a degree, mixed in with the more minimal, atmospheric, and dramatic approach of much of Ye’s 2020s output so far. Many fans in the comments section of the post below wrote statements like “Ye beat washed allegations” given the disappointed reception to VULTURES 2.

Furthermore, Kanye West reportedly said that this new song will appear on his next project, which is unsurprisingly a mystery at press time. Actually, that’s giving it too much credit: there are no details to speak of at all. We just have rumblings of inspiration and studio work, but no indication if this will be a solo album or the conclusion to the promised VULTURES trilogy. Considering how chaotic and shoddy the releases turned out so far, we wouldn’t express shock if its third installment remains a myth for a long time.

The City Girls are sort of on hold right now. It’s two members, Yung Miami and JT, are doing their own things. The latter is especially doing so after dropping her solo debut mixtape, City Cinderella. So far, it seems that the general consensus is that the project is quite solid, and we pretty much agree with those reviews. It shows love to the tandem’s riot-worthy sound, but instead you can really feel JT’s presence even more so. With her succeeding, Yung Miami is looking to get back into the swing of things as well, as she recently previewed a new song on her Instagram Live.

Unfortunately, listeners aren’t really feeling all that much. “Girl it’s okay you can’t rap. I can’t either it is what it is 😂”, one user writes in The Neighborhood Talk comment section. Don Toliver is still one of the more entertaining voices in hip-hop right now. His unique, nasally, high-pitched voice makes him standout out from most of the competition. Furthermore, he has the support of artists like Travis Scott, which means he has a great ear for beats and atmosphere. All of that has translated to some memorable tracks of the 2020 decade and some solid records. However, some could make the case that he has not truly capitalized on any four of his studio releases. But, those arguments might be put to rest after Don Toliver drops his next offering, Hardstone Psycho.

So far, the Houston, Texas multi-hyphenate has given fans excellent tracks to chew over. “Bandit” sees the more explosive side of Don Toliver. He sounds focused and hard as all hell over the rockin’ sample flip of Tame Impala’s “One More Hour.” Then, you have “Deep in the Water,” which is the low-key and vibey version of Don T. On this cut, he displays affection and support for his girlfriend and mother of their newborn baby, Kali Uchis. What is interesting is that this song also incorporates some elements of rock with the riffing at the end.

This is part of the reason why Hardstone Psycho could be a special record for Don, but also for hip-hop. A lot of people are tired of hearing the same formula. But, effectively working in another genre like rock, could pave the way for other artists to try it as well. All of this incredible potential is why we are so amped to hear Don reveal a rough release date for the album. During his Rolling Loud set, he told the audience that they can expect it sometime this summer. He segued that announcement into an incredible head-knocking preview with even more solo guitar work. Hopefully, we get both the song and album sooner than later.
