Pharrell Teams Up With Voices Of Fire For New Song “Joy (Unspeakable)”

Pharrell Williams has dropped his new single “Joy (Unspeakable).” The track is a collaboration with the Virginia-based gospel choir Voices Of Fire. That really isn’t all that surprising given that they’re from the same home state but there’s an even more obvious connection. Voices Of Fire’s founded, Bishop Ezekiel Williams is Pharrell’s own uncle. “Working with Pharrell is always an amazing experience that not only inspires you, but drives you to dig deep within yourself for the best you have to offer,” the Bishop said in a press release attached to the song.

The press release also highlighted the impressive roster of talent involved. “When the dream team finally came together on this song—Pharrell, Voices of Fire, Pastor Larry George, and yours truly—I knew that moment in the studio was one of destiny,” the statement reads. A documentary called Voices Of Fire was released on Netflix a few years ago. The doc chronicled how Bishop Williams and Pharrell worked together to assemble a non-traditional choir. The song became a highly-anticipated new release following Pharrell’s teases on social media earlier this week.

Pharrell Alongside His Uncle’s Choir

The track is Pharrell’s second new single of 2021. In April he joined Kaytranada and Amine on their song “4EVA.” The song served as the lead single for the pair’s new collaborative album KAYTRAMINE. Lats year he also featured on the hit songs “Cash In Cash Out” with Tyler, The Creator and 21 Savage as well as “Down In Atlanta” with Travis Scott.

Outside of music, Pharrell has also stayed busy. Last month Louis Vitton announced that his debut collection as Head Men’s Designer would come later this month. Just this morning it was announced that Rihanna was coming on board as the face of his new campaign. Tell us what you think of Pharrell’s new song in the comments below.

Quotable Lyrics:

Mumbling To Myself, Must Think I’m Praising
But I’m Humbling Myself And I’m Giving Praise
Fumbling By Myself, They Don’t Know Who’s Hating
If You Crumble Anyhow, I Know Who Can Raise You

Normani Teases “Candy Paint”, Her New Song & First Single In A Year

Normani is the kind of artist that lets her craft speak for itself- and cares deeply about having it represent her. Moreover, she recently appeared in a commercial for Bose’s QuietComfort Earbuds II and QuietComfort 45 Headphones and took the chance to preview a new song in the process. “Candy Paint,” which is a bustling, highly percussive, and confidence-oozing cut is her first single in a year. Furthermore, some of the last songs we covered from her were “New To You” with Tinashe, Calvin Harris, and Offset, “WE (Warm Embrace)” with Chris Brown, and her solo cut “Fair.”

In the ad itself, the 27-year-old talent spoke on how people confuse her intentions with her art. In fact, she unfortunately faced a lot of it in anticipation of her solo debut, which is coming soon according to the ad’s description. “Normani is ready for a career-defining return to the scene with her highly anticipated debut album finally on the cusp! We talked about her creative process and what it takes to make the cut for her first album” it read.

Normani’s Bose Commercial With The Upcoming “Candy Paint”

“People sometimes confuse my commitment to the craft with perfectionism,” Normani says in the commercial. “I don’t strive for perfection, I strive to be the most authentic version of myself… I strive to create work that moves my spirit.” At one point when making “Fair,” she realized that said spirit must also undergo some vulnerability. “Sharing this record makes me uncomfortable because you have never really seen me in this light,” she expressed on Instagram. “Definitely aware that you might feel like you don’t know much about me but that’s only because it’s what makes me feel protected. i am really forcing myself to let go here. this is huge for me and hopefully this piece of art resonates. love is beautiful yet so soooo terrifying [black heart emoji] i adore you guys to the moon and back. ohhhh and believe me the uptempo s**t is coming lmaooo.”

Meanwhile, a recent Billboard interview shed some more light on “Candy Paint.” “I really wanted to create a record that allowed me to show my personality,” the Atlanta native said. “I feel like there’s a misconception. It probably has everything to do with my social media. I think that people think I’m so serious, which is the complete opposite [of me]. Anybody that really knows me knows that I’m really funny. I’m a goofball! I love to twerk. I’m just regular. I really wanted to create a record that encompassed that and allowed my personality to shine. It’s a performance record first, which I know my fans have been waiting for, for a very long time. It’s fun, energetic, bossy, it’s bold. It’s sassy but assertive, and yeah, I’m really excited to shoot the music video.” For more on Normani, check back in with HNHH.

Fans appeared to be excited about new music from Trippie in the comments section, leaving plenty of fire emojis. Others expressed their impatience for the full album. “I did everything you asked now please just drop the album bro PLEASEEEEEEEEE,” one user wrote.

Trippie has been teasing A Love Letter to You 5 for over a year at this point. Back in August 2022, he described the unreleased effort as the best work of his career. “A Love Letter to You 5 is gonna be, if not the best body of music I’ve ever did, one of them. For sure,” he said in a clip with Montreality at the time. “This is the last one. This the last A Love Letter to You so…I done put my all into it. I’ve been working on this for like, three to four years. Dropping projects, but still having music tucked to the side for this project.”

Redd continued: “Nothing is experimental. I’m not trying to be experimental with this project. I’m really just tryin’ to, you know, just drop straight Trippie Redd hits.” Be on the lookout for Trippie’s new single, “Took My Breath Away,” on Friday and A Love Letter to You 5 later this year.

Doja Cat Reveals Release Date & Cover Art On Twitter

After many months of deliberation, album name changes, and seemingly endless teasing, it’s Doja Cat season once more. Sure, previous efforts like her remix of SZA’s “Kill Bill” already got fans quite ready for this moment. However, nothing had quite lived up to the solid confirmation that the fanbase just got via the artist’s Twitter account. On Tuesday (June 13), the Los Angeles native fired off a cover art: a triangle messily splattered in blood. That could point to many different things, so drop your interpretation in the comments below. In addition, she revealed a release date of June 16, meaning that this Friday, hype will become bigger than ever for her next album.

Of course, fans have many theories, hopes, and pipe-dreams when it comes to what this hinted project could be. The most prevalent and likely explanation is that this will be Doja Cat’s first single for her album. Furthermore, this is bolstered by the fact that the single’s pre-save link apparently leaked online, and fans caught onto it before it could be taken down. It seems like her and her team weren’t ready just yet to get the ball rolling. Hopefully this announcement was a planned piece of the puzzle, not a scrambled effort to capitalize on tech issues or leakers ruining the fun for everyone.

Also, a lot of fans pray that we’ll just get the whole album, though that seems much more improbable. Obviously the “I Don’t Do Drugs” multi-hyphenate will do as she pleases, especially considering her comments on her first two records being “cash-grabs.” Still, a single or two leading up to the larger album release, plus some merch or tour dates or media appearances sprinkled in there, seems like the most logical fit for someone of her status. But Doja seems to be quite done with all that, so it’s exciting to think that anything could happen.

If you’re not caught up on all the album rumors and changing titles and whatnot, perhaps it’s best to let yourself be surprised, like a good trip to the movies without watching the trailer. In the meantime, we’ll keep you updated on the single, album, or whatever she’s dropping this Friday. If anything, it’ll be nice to leave the rumor mill and usher in a new era. For the latest news on all things Doja Cat, stay posted on HNHH.

Doja Cat Reportedly Dropping New Single This Week, Per Leaked Pre-Save Link

Doja Cat season appears to be upon us. Despite the frequent title changes of her album, it appears that she could be readying for the release of a new single. Unfortunately, fans were only informed of the potential release of a single titled “Attention” this Friday, thanks to a leaked pre-save announcement, per Uproxx. A leaked marketing campaign release urged fans to pre-save the upcoming single on Spotify or Apple Music before the song went live this week.

Needless to say, fans were ecstatic about the announcement, and the news spread across the Internet quickly. Evidently, someone at Sony Music caught onto the flub and immediately removed the announcement from their website. Now when you head over to the link, it reads, “We’re sorry, but this page no longer exists.” At this point, Doja Cat still hasn’t formally announced the single. However, it doesn’t seem like the leak will have an impact on its release.

Doja Cat Appears To Be Readying New Music

The recent pre-save leak isn’t the only indication that Doja Cat has new music coming soon. In the past few days, fans noticed that Doja Cat began a countdown on her Twitter page. Beginning with “6” on Sunday night, she tweeted “5” yesterday and “4” this morning. The cryptic countdown strongly suggests that on Friday, June 16th, the new single “Attention” will be arriving in its entirety. Hopefully, the release of the upcoming single will also kick off the campaign for her upcoming album.

At this point, Doja Cat’s next album is shaping up to be one of her best yet and she’s certainly built up the anticipation. She previously teased a portion of the album on her Instagram Live. However, she also indicated that her last two albums weren’t necessarily an accurate representation of her creativity. “planet her and hot pink were cash-grabs and yall fell for it. now i can go disappear somewhere and touch grass with my loved ones on an island while yall weep for mediocre pop,” she tweeted. With that said, perhaps we should expect a far more experimental effort with her next project.

City Girls’ New Single Will Make You Want To Hit It Like A “Pinata”

The City Girls have had fans begging for new music since wearing out 2020’s City On Lock by blasting tracks like “P*ssy Talk,” “Jobs,” and “Rodeo” over the past few summers. Yung Miami and JT have long promised that they have more heat on the way, and they’ve finally made good on it this week by sharing two new singles. The first, “I Need A Thug,” hit DSPs on Thursday (June 8), while the latter, “Pinata” landed on New Music Friday after the pair premiered it at Rolling Loud California.

As expected, their latest release is filled with plenty of salacious bars, from the Caresha Please host rapping about needing a man who’s got a lot to offer in the bedroom as well as in his wallet. “Twenty pointers for Christmas / Gotta play for the Spurs or the Clippers,” Miami adds on her verse, seemingly hinting at a future romance with a famous athlete in her future.

Yung Miami and JT Let Loose on “Pinata”

On the chorus, JT sultrily rhymes, “Pussy make him do the cha-cha / He wanna eat it like a pinata” before later getting into some NSFW bars of her own. Both of the Florida duo’s new tracks follow their collaboration with Diddy on “Act Bad,” which also features an appearance from Fabolous. After a significant time without any new bops from the City Girls, the internet is making it clear that they’re happy to have more hits to add to their summer playlist. We still don’t know when the partners in rhyme plan to drop their next LP, but we’ll be sure to keep you in the loop with any updates.

Stream the City Girls’ latest single on YouTube above, or add it to your playlist on Spotify/Apple Music. Which track do you like better, “I Need A Thug,” or “Pinata”? Let us know in the comments, and check back later this weekend for more HNHH release recommendations.

City Girls Are Back With New Single “I Need A Thug”

City Girls have dropped a new track, titled “I Need A Thug.” They announced the song’s drop earlier today on social media, pumping fans up for their first release of the summer. Yung Miami hinted at new music earlier this year, telling fans they can expect to hear from City Girls this spring and summer. Their newest single samples LL Cool J’s 1987 single, “I Need Love.” The song sees the duo apply signature City Girls sentiments to the romantic ’80s track.

The new single also follows last month’s City Girls feature on Diddy’s track, “Act Bad.” In March, the duo also previewed some new music during their performance at Rolling Loud. They performed their unreleased track “Piñata” for the California crowd in March.

City Girls Sample LL Cool J’s “I Need Love”

“I Need A Thug” is the pair’s first new release since their 2022 song with Usher, titled “Good Love.” The laid-back ’80s instrumental is paired with catchy, high-energy bars to create a snappy track about wanting a man who’s all about “sex, money, and drugs.”

Last month Yung Miami also appeared on The Jason Lee Show where she discussed drama among female rappers. The artist explained feeling as though the game would be much more enjoyable if everyone could just get along. “I feel like it would be so much [more fun] if everybody could just be together,” she revealed. “We could bring each other out on shows and just link up. I feel like bad b*tches should really link up. That would be dope if everybody could just… bring their personalities together.” She also shared her thoughts on her City Girls partner JT, explaining to the host, “that’s my b*tch. We a group.”

RZA Praises Burna Boy’s New Single As “Special”

RZA shared massive praise for Burna Boy and his upcoming single, “Sittin’ on Top of the World.” He made the comments on Twitter, Saturday, while responding to a snippet of the track. On the new song, Burna Boy samples Brandy and Ma$e’s 1998 track, “Top of the World.”

“Burna is carving out his own unique chamber. His new splash is something special,” he wrote. Fans in his replies were mostly in agreement with the take. “Very special. Burna actually has always been a unique artist all together [sic]. “He is not a regular artist,” one wrote. “His passion for music n the dedication n range of emotions that goes into it, his music is therapeutic, healing, inspiring n motivating.”

RZA is far from the first artist to sing Burna Boy’s praises either. Swizz Beatz recently claimed that he introduced Burna Boy to the United States. He made the claim during an appearance on Amazon Music’s Rotation Roundtables. “[I was the] first person to bring Burna Boy to the States,” he said. “Actually, he had a Ruff Ryders bandana on and I introduced him on the stage. When I was playing Fela Kuti, people thought I was being too African, and that’s how ignorant the energy was at that time. But I didn’t let that stop me from moving what I’m moving because it is what it is. It’s all educational. So we can’t be scared of the educational journey of something that sound different or feels different. So for me traveling the world, it’s a whole like — I can’t wait for people to listen to Ebo Taylor.”

RZA On Burna Boy’s New Track

Burna Boy released his major-label debut back in 2018 with his album, Outside. A year later, he won Best International Act at the 2019 BET Awards. In 2023, Rolling Stone placed him on its list of the best 200 singers of all time.

EST Gee Is Here To “Turn The Streets Up” In New Single

One of Louisville’s most in-demand talents is back with a new single this week, “Turn The Streets Up.” Moreover, this new offering comes just a couple of months after the Kentucky MC dropped his latest album, MAD. Featuring Young Scooter, Boosie Badazz, and Kada, it continued a hot streak of prolific and consistently energetic long-form releases, whether on his own or collaborating with 42 Dugg. Now, it seems like Gee is capitalizing on the success of that album with this new single, which for longtime fans, is more of what you probably love about the 29-year-old. It’s hard, it’s confident, it’s murderous, and yet it doesn’t slouch on lyrical creativity and melodic sensibilities.

Furthermore, this track comes tapped with a catchy and effortless hook from EST Gee, working in some impressive flow switch-ups and a unique vocal cadence. On that note, the “25Min Freestyle” MC’s voice sounds gruff but focused on this song, making sure to not slur his delivery and deliver his bars with emphasis. Given his evocative imagery, cheeky turns of phrase, and engaging rhyme schemes, this is a more lyrically proficient offering than meets the eye. Then again, that’s always been one of his standout talents. In addition, he even features Dugg on the outro, who seemed to call in from jail to urge Gee to… well, “Turn The Streets Up.”

EST Gee’s Music Video For “Turn The Streets Up”

Meanwhile, the instrumental on here has a lot of powerful and rapid bass kicks that keep a balanced bounce. Along with eerie synth patches and key lines, it’s a textbook example of contemporary rap production, with more subtle instrumental additions ultimately serving to emphasize the rapper’s flow and the drum pattern. Go blast this in your car on your next drive and let us know in the comments if you’re already excited for more from the CMG signee. You can check out the music video for “Turn The Streets Up” above, and you can find the track on your preferred streaming service. Kid Cudi Amends Release Schedule After Backlash To “Flex”

On May 19, Kid Cudi shared a brief snippet of his upcoming single, “Flex”. It comes during a busy time for Cudi, who has also teased the release of a new album. Furthermore, the musician is upping his acting game, with the impending release of Crater on Disney+. Elsewhere, Cudi is preparing to reprise the role of porn star Jackson Hole in MaXXXine, the final film in Ti West’s X trilogy.

The clip Cudi released from “Flex” was genuinely bizarre, with a mishmash of visuals over a heavy beat and repetition of the word “Flex”. If we were to describe the clip, the best analogy would be “something you’d hear in a comedy film to indicate that the person performing was untalented.” Furthermore, Fans weren’t stoked on the whole, despite Cudi sharing multiple tweets of people pre-ordering the single.

Kid Cudi Promises New Release

Having seen the backlash, Cudi took to Twitter to assure fans that they would not be subjected to “Flex” anytime soon. “You guys are my fans, ur my family!!! I hear yall!! Im pivoting. Different single June 2nd!! ☺✌🏾💕,” Cudi tweeted late on May 19, just hours after the clip had been made public. Clearly, Cudi had seen enough to convince him that “Flex” wasn’t going to be the hit he was hoping for with fans. This was also the opposite reaction of Coi Leray, who doubled down after backlash to a new song snippet.

Furthermore, the move went over well with fans. “Artists who listen >>>” replied streamer and crypto personality Ladidai. However, some fans pointed to the recent beef with Playboi Carti as a source of a new release. “Just drop solo solo [sic] pt 4. Force the vampire to clear it. That’s the song the fans truly want,” one person tweeted. Carti reportedly won’t clear a feature, which has potentially delayed the release of Cudi’s Solo Dolo IV. However, Cudi has not indicated what “Flex” will be replaced with, only that it will be a “different single”. Furthermore, what are you hoping Cudi drops? Let us know in the comments. Be sure to follow all the latest music news here at HotNewHipHop.
