NoCap Keeps A “Baby Drake” On New Single: Stream

NoCap is making a strong return in 2024 with his brand new single “Baby Drake,” which creatively debuts as (maybe) the first rap song in history to refer to Adonis as a chopper. Jokes aside, this is exactly the kind of sound fans would expect from The Main Bird, mixing some cheeky and outrageous lyricism with a laidback beat and drowsy, ear-grabbing deliveries. His studio sessions with the likes of G Herbo and Kodak Black have definitely sharpened his tool box as far as coming through with unorthodox flows and creating a melancholy but still hardened vibe.

Furthermore, “Baby Drake” achieves this partly through a guitar-backed beat, bringing what sounds like a dramatic soul sample back to Earth with crisp hi-hats, deep bass, and sharp rimshots. It’s a pretty lush and bouncy atmosphere for NoCap to glide over as he raps about his distaste for unworthy competitors in the rap game and his ascent within it. There’s also a slight sense of loss here contrasted with lust, much like his feature on Monaleo’s “Miss U Already.”

Meanwhile, NoCap still has some legal issues, such as the use of his music video in a murder case. But these obstacles aside, it’s clear that he has no plans of slowing down this year, and will likely have some more heat for his listeners coming soon. On that note, if you haven’t heard “Baby Drake” yet, find it on your preferred streaming service or check the music video out below. Let us know what you thought of it down in the comments section and find some notable lines from the song down there, too. Wiki & Tony Seltzer Are Taking W’s & “No L’s” On New Single

Wiki and Tony Seltzer were two heroes in the world of hip-hop last year. Both were at the forefront of some of the strongest releases in what was seen as a down year for the genre. Their distinctive sounds coming out of the New York underground scene brought us some refreshing listens. For the Harlem rapper, Wiki was on two standout tapes, the first of them being Faith Is A Rock alongside MIKE and The Alchemist. Then, just about a month and a half later, the veteran MC came back with even more consistency on 14K Figaro. That time Tony was in the mix, producing some great alternative hip-hop. Now, the dynamic duo of Wiki and Tony Seltzer is back with “No L’s”.

For the former, this is their first release of the year, whereas for the latter, he is keeping his momentum going. Tony has also built up quite the rapport with the aforementioned MIKE and it was furthered on Pinball back in March. On “No L’s”, Wiki is rapping with good pace and command over what turns into a trap instrumental 30 seconds later. If you need a confidence boost, then this is the track for you.

But lose my composure you won’t tell, so

If you don’t know me don’t yell
Hat down, covers the head

Common & Pete Rock Deliver Another Soulful Boom-Bap Jam With “Dreamin’”

Common and Pete Rock are not at the beginning of their careers anymore. Or are they? That is a question you have to ask yourself based on the way these two are still delivering at a high level. These two Midwest legends wowed fans with their recent collaboration “Wise Up”. On the lead single to their forthcoming rapper/producer album, The Auditorium Vol. 1, Pete flipped MC Shan’s “The Bridge” to perfection. Couple that with the flawless drum pattern and meticulous flows from Common, the track has become an instant success. It has listeners’ expectations for this album sky high and we do not foresee this tape failing. Part of the reason is because of this second offering from Common and Pete Rock, “Dreamin’”.

This track is equally impressive on all fronts. Common brings the compelling and introspective lyrics and Pete Rock is in his bag with another lethal combo of a killer sample and drums. The “Daydreamin’ and think of you” vocals are stunningly soulful and beautiful, as well as being perfectly mixed. Also giving this instrumental character are the triumphant horn sections and twinkly pianos. All of these elements are in perfect harmony with one another and signify that greatness is inbound on The Auditorium. Speaking of which, the collaboration album is due on July 12. Features will include Bilal, Jennifer Hudson, Posdnuos, and PJ. There will also be 15 tracks and a good chance of all killer and no filler. You can check out “Dreamin’” on all streaming platforms now or you can view the live session that dropped moments ago below. We guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Nicki Minaj Sends Fans Into A Whirlwind With “Yes Single…” Tweet

Nicki Minaj loves riling up her fans and just moments ago, she did just that with a simple tweet. The iconic rapper and singer has always had a massive social media presence, as she loves to communicate with fans. This message, “Yes Single…” instantaneously sparked a debate with the Barbz. Fans have been mostly split on whether or not she is referring to her love life or new music coming soon. The ones that were shutting down the breakup chatter were doing so in an emphatic manner.

“A new single dropping. Zoo aint going nowhere 😂😂”, one user boldly states. “She’s dropping a single. She not leaving that man. Lol”, another similarly adds. If we are getting new music, it would make sense that something is coming soon. Nicki has clearly been through quite a bit over the last couple of weeks. Of course, she was recently released after she was arrested in Amsterdam. Additionally, she just announced a second North American leg of her Pink Friday 2 World Tour.

Overall, there is a lot she could talk about on a new single, so hopefully that is the case and there is no trouble in paradise.

What are your thoughts on this tweet from Nicki Minaj? Do you think she is talking about a breakup or a new song on the way? If she means the latter, when do you expect her to drop it? NBA YoungBoy Shares Last Song He Recorded Before House Raid, “Tears Of War”

NBA YoungBoy has shared the final song he recorded before federal agents raided his property and took him into custody, earlier this year. DJ Akademiks posted the track, “Tears of War,” on his YouTube page and explained: “Top Gave me this song for his fans. He said this was the last song he recorded before they raided his house. He miss yall.” On the song, he sings about the traumatic moments he’s been through and crying “tears of war.” At one point he even references Birdman and Lil Wayne. Fans in the comments section have been loving the single. One user wrote: “Young Boy be making the best songs when he uses his regular voice this song is the one especially when he started singing. FREE TOP.” Another added: “He sounds like the Nba youngboy we know man this so fireee damnn.”

Police raided YoungBoy’s home in Utah where he had been serving house arrest back in April. They hit him with several charges, including possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person and for a pattern of unlawful activity. A judge eventually set a $100,000 bond for the rapper but he was also charged with additional crimes. His arraignment is set for July 1. Raye Returns With New 7-Minute Single, “Genesis,”: Stream

Raye has returned with her first single since releasing her project, My 21st Century Blues, last year. On the new track, titled “Genesis,” she reflects on her experiences with loneliness in her 20s, social media, and more. With the release, Raye shared a candid message about her inspiration for the song in a press release. She wrote: “There is a Nina Simone quote, ‘It is an artist’s duty to reflect the times.’ This quote is everything to me and I believe the best way I can try to do this is through my art and my music. There is so much darkness and pain in this world we live in, and I wanted to create something both as deeply personal and as raw as I could find myself to be about my own mind and the world I see around me.”

She continued: “The song is a 7-minute piece that I have crafted and scrutinized over the last year and a half, experimenting with different genres and sonic expressions, beneath all the layers and the lyrics, the underlying message is ‘Let There Be Light.’ It is a prayer and a plea and a cry for help and I really hope this song will be able to bring some hope, the way this music does for me, to those who need it most.” Check out “Genesis” below and be on the lookout for further updates on Raye on HotNewHipHop.

Headie One Gets Reflective On Somber New Single “I Still Know Better”

It’s already been a year full of successes for Headie One, and luckily, he doesn’t show signs of slowing down anytime soon. Last week, the British artist unveiled his new single, “I Still Know Better.” The mellow track sees him reflect on some of the lessons he’s learned along the way, the dangers of rap beef, and more. Raw, emotional lyrics are matched by a dramatic instrumental and a laid-back beat.

Headie One has more on the way too, and fans won’t have to wait too much longer to hear it. “I Still Know Better” comes ahead of the release of his upcoming album, The Last One. The project is slated for release on June 28 of this year and is available for pre-order now. He’s released two additional tracks from the LP so far to give listeners a taste of what’s to come, “Martin’s Sofa” as well as “Cry No More” featuring Tay Keith. The Last One will follow his 2023 album, Strength To Strength.

What do you think of Headie One’s latest track? Will you be adding “I Still Know Better” to your summer playlist? Wallie The Sensei Asks “Come Slide Wit Me” & Kalan.FrFr On “New” Single: Stream

Two Los Angeles MCs are holding it down on this bouncy and romantic single and brand-new video from Wallie The Sensei and Kalan.FrFr, “Come Slide Wit Me.” As you might expect, this is a West Coast-infused and summery cut about one’s ability to care for a partner, lust for them, provide, and just overall flex together throughout their lavish lives. The vocal melodies and flows are relatively simple, but there are some engaging speed-ups and extra production embellishments like strings, samples, and synth pads to flesh things out. Also, both vocalists share plenty of sung chemistry and are able to come across quite charismatically on the mic. They’ve both been pretty busy this year, with Wallie landing on G Perico’s G Slim’s Revenge back in April.

On the other hand, Kalan.FrFr just dropped his new project MAKE THE WEST GREAT AGAIN backed by hot tracks like “EVERYBODY.” If you’re a fan of that California swing, it’s a must-listen. It’s also pretty heartening to hear these two artists have some fun on a track together, as they haven’t had many link-ups together in the past. They both appeared on Rucci’s El Perro 2 a couple of years ago, so hopefully there are more chances. We should also mention that this song came out on SoundCloud three years ago, and we’re glad it’s finally widely accesible. Check “Come Slide Wit Me” out on your preferred streaming service and watch the music video below. Let us know what you thought of it in the comments section down there, where you’ll also find some notable lines. As always, stick around on HNHH for more rap drops around the clock.
