Homeboy Sandman Starts Year With New Song “Eighth Day Of Christmas”

Homeboy Sandman blessed fans with a single every day in the holiday season, with his latest being “Eighth Day of Christmas.” Moreover, he began on December 25th, and his end goal is his new album, 12 Days of Christmas & Día de los Reyes, set to drop on Three Kings Day (January 6th). As such, each day leading up to the 6th brought us a new single off the album from Sandman.

While a track a day can seem daunting, the Queens MC wrote varied and high-quality tracks for each day. Some of his earlier singles were woozier, more energetic, and laced with spontaneous drums. However, “Eighth Day of Christmas” displayed Homeboy Sandman in a drumless, more reflective state. The beat is based on a smooth, glamorous, and lush sample, with many different instruments elevating the track.

For example, there’s the subtle chunks of electric guitar that give the track a funky feel. Also, the keys go from low bass notes to high-pitched tones with ease, which add some dynamism to the track. There’s not a lot of percussion here, with a light hi-hat and rimshot used as sparse elements. Finally, the deep bass is what grounds the track, balancing out the track’s melodic elements.

Meanwhile, the 42-year-old delivers a subtly emphatic performance, despite the track’s low-key and dreamy atmosphere. All of the beat’s elements come through very densely, but Homeboy balanced them with a confident and raspy flow. While there are a few abstract bars here and there, there are also powerfully simple proclamations against traditional success and not getting his due credit.

Furthermore, the flow is consistent, but he spit a lot of internal rhyme schemes and cheeky references. Everything makes for a great performance to ring 2023 in, consistent with his impressive output from last year. For example, he assisted the Oakland-based Oakstop Alliance in their debut album, Royalty Summit.

What did you think of Homeboy Sandman’s newest track, “Eighth Day of Christmas”? Moreover, are you excited for his new album, 12 Days of Christmas & Día de los Reyes? Grafh Links Up With Tony Yayo & Sly Pyper For New Single, “Sometimes”

New York rapper Grafh has had a consistently steady output during 2022. Dropping several singles, many of which are collaborations, the 40-year-old has successfully made sure to maintain his relevancy in the game.

On Friday (December 30), the “Blow” rapper returned to drop off a brand new single with Tony Yayo and Sly Pyper, titled “Sometimes.” Pyper delivers the catchy hook, while Grafh and Yayo spit verses of their own. As a whole, the track finds the trio reflecting on their respective lives and struggles.

“This pain here never run out / I got so many tears, but they never come out / Livin’ in fear, you n*ggas is scared, so you never come out / Some n*ggas was weird that they never hung out,” Grafh raps in the song’s first verse.

The G-Unit rapper follows suit, speaking his own truth in his subsequent verse. “I jumped off the porch at 15 and started slingin’ / The truth gets silenced when the powerful is speaking / Live life with love, I don’t have expectations / My city never sleep and n*ggas always hatin’,” he raps.

Earlier this year, the Queens native released the deluxe edition of his 2021 album, Stop Calling Art Content. The project contains posthumous production from DJ Shay, who tragically passed away in 2020. The late producer was a part of Griselda Records and consistently worked with artists affiliated with the label, including Grafh.

Make sure to stream Grafh, Tony Yayo and Sly Pyper’s “Sometimes” on either Spotify or SoundCloud down below. Share your thoughts on it in the comments afterwards. Finally, make sure to stay tuned to HNHH for the latest music releases.

Quotable Lyrics:

I know a few winners in the game
But if you stay in it, like winning in Vegas, n*gga, you bound to lose
Won’t get too much pushing through pain
But sometimes you can’t get numb enough from whatever the vice you choose

Kid Ink Drops New Single, “Mykonos Flow”

2014 was undoubtedly the biggest year of Kid Ink’s career. Eight years ago, he was riding the success of two of his biggest singles, “Show Me” and “Main Chick.” Both of which are collaborations with Chris Brown and show the now 36-year-old’s effortless ability to make fun, party-inspired tracks.

On Friday (December 30), Ink returned to drop off a brand new single, “Mykonos Flow.” The song effectively continues his trend of being an energetic rapper and showing off how to have a good time.

On the track, he flexes all of the perks of his luxurious lifestyle while not leaving out any details. “Perfect timing, tryna be in Greece this summer like Giannis / Put it on God, got everything he promised / I ain’t even flex yet, just bein’ modest / Put you in first class, sittin’ with the finest / Red eye, paid for the ticket with the mileage,” he raps in the second verse.

“Mykonos Flow” serves as Ink’s twelfth single of 2022. His previous one is the Wiz Khalifa-featuring smoker’s anthem, “Big Burna.” He certainly likes to have a good time and rap about his lifestyle, as he continues to showcase this in his most recent songs.

Although he consistently drops plenty of singles, the “Promise” rapper has mostly strayed away from dropping full-length projects over the past few years. However, earlier this year, the L.A. native dropped off the deluxe version of his 2021 album, ALIVE.

Make sure to stream Kid Ink’s “Mykonos Flow” on either Spotify or Apple Music below. Comment your thoughts on the new track afterwards. Finally, make sure to stay tuned to HNHH for the latest music releases.

Quotable Lyrics:

Got the season with the waves, seaside with your h*e
Beast out on the record, I’m the man where I go

redveil Closes Year With Wavy New Single, “2daside”

After an incredible breakout year, one of hip-hop’s most exciting new talents closed 2022 with a bang. redveil just dropped his latest single “2daside,” which is a synthy and bouncy celebratory cut. Moreover, it’s a fresh, youthful, and soulful take on trap and East Coast strains of hip-hop, combining introspection with raw energy. Also, it’s sure to please fans of one of this year’s best albums, specifically his third: learn 2 swim, where he honed that style.

Instrumentally, “2daside” employs some of the 18-year-old MC’s most engaging production techniques. Breezy synth melodies with varying timbres and textures, crisp and sharp trap percussion, and a generally submerged sound. Also, it’s infused with nostalgia, creativity, and soulful fun in the same way that his best tracks like “pg baby” function. While that nostalgia can sometimes come across as melancholy in his catalog, this new track sounds ironically summery.

Meanwhile, the Prince George’s County, Maryland native delivers a short but impassioned performance. Moreover, the track isn’t even two and a half minutes long, and yet redveil’s energy comes through infectiously. Lyrically, he seems to focus on his skill and authenticity as a rapper, saying he only cares about the love people have for him. As he continues to provide wisdom and maturity beyond his years (and most people’s, frankly), he delivered some of the year’s best material.

What did you think of redveil’s new single, “2daside”? Moreover, have you checked out his other material and features? The final New Music Friday of the year is upon us. Accordingly, some of the biggest names in hip-hop sharing new singles for your streaming pleasure. We’ve already heard from Wiz Khalifa on “#NeverDrinkingAgain” and Rae Sremmurd also came through with “Torpedo.” Now, we have a collaboration from Hit-Boy and Avelino called “2 Certified.”

The song finds the producer and the British rapper coming together to trade verses. “I told Hit-Boy he needs to rap more / I built myself up, brick by brick, but I don’t trap no more / Yeah, I ain’t full of myself, I’m impactful / I’m in a two-door Beamer, I’m toppin’ fuel, what do you think,” the 29-year-old spits.

On the chorus, Hit-Boy chiefly follows with, “I’ma need all the amenities / You made a lil’ pape, I went at their neck and made history / Dumbin’ out on my own beats / Hot like I threw ’em in grease.”

For his part, Avelino recently announced that his debut album will be forthcoming in the new year. On his final verse, he flaunts, “Yeah, I’m too certified / London boy in a German ride.”

As for the California native, he’s been undeniably busy all year. Among his projects were a slew of singles and albums in conjunction with other artists. October saw the arrival of “Tony Fontana III” with Curren$y. The next month, his work was showcased on NasKing’s Disease III album.

Other noteworthy titles from Hit-Boy this year include “Fire Proof” as well as his executive production on Drillmatic: Heart vs. Mind from The Game.

Wiz Khalifa Says He’s “#NeverDrinkingAgain” On His New Single

Before the year ends, Wiz Khalifa has one last treat for his fans. Over the past few weeks, the Taylor Gang artist has been teasing a new single on social media. On Friday (December 30), it finally landed on DSPs. Aptly titled “#NeverDrinkingAgain,” the song finds the rapper reflecting on a wild night of partying after promising he was retiring from booze.

“How did I slip up? / When I said I wasn’t drinking again,” he asks as the track begins.

Later on, Khalifa rhymes, “It was just me, two women / We was in my backyard swimming / Smoking weed, rockstar living / They was drinking out the bottle, I was chilling.”

For the most part, “#NeverDrinkingAgain” finds him singing more than rapping – something that’s become a sort of trend on his recent releases.

Other titles to debut from Khalifa lately include the remix of Fetty Wap’s “Sweet Yamz,” as well as his work with Kid Ink on “Big Burna.” Additionally, he dropped off his Multiverse album, and the deluxe cut, during the warmer summer months.

Elsewhere in the news, the “Black and Yellow” made it known earlier this month that he’s down to face off against Lil Wayne in a Verzuz.

While chatting with Superstar Jay, Wiz shared, “Wayne. I think that would be fun, ’cause Wayne’s a really dope performer. So it’s like, me and him going back and forth performing bangers, that sh*t [would] be hard. And we both smoke hella weed. I think that would be more like a concert than a ‘Verzuz.’”

Stream Wiz Khalifa’s “#NeverDrinkingAgain” on Spotify or Apple Music below. Afterward, let us know your thoughts on the new single in the comments.

Quotable Lyrics:

It be like two shots then I’m loaded
Then them two shots turn to 40
Then I wake up in the morning
Like
How did I slip up?
When I said I wasn’t drinking again

DaBaby Is Feeling Like “Joc In 06” On New Single

DaBaby’s keeping a steady stream of releases coming, even during the holidays. The “ROCKSTAR” rapper returned this week with a brand new single titled, “Joc In 06.” Just before New Year, the rapper comes through with high energy on his latest single over Playboi Carti-esque production. Throughout the song, he flexes his speedy flow and witty bars across the effort.

The song also came with new visuals that show Baby and his family turning up over the Christmas holidays. The rapper dons a Santa Claus hat while surrounded by his daughter and nephew at the Christmas tree.

DaBaby has delivered a slew of new music over the past few months, even after dropping Baby On Baby 2. His latest project marked his first studio album since 2020’s Blame It On Baby, though it also spurred some controversy surrounding his status in the rap game. Baby On Baby 2 sold 17K in its first week — a stark decline from his 2020 studio album. Unfortunately, some believe that the music industry blackballed him. Due to his controversial comments at Rolling Loud in 2021, many distanced themselves from him, including major DSPs and music companies. He also revealed that the incident led to a loss of $100M in potential revenue.

Though DaBaby might have ways to go before he regains the momentum he once had, he still took a few wins in recent times. Just before the holidays, DaBaby won a $6M lawsuit due to an alleged brawl in Miami.

“Along with our client, Jonathan Kirk, we are thrilled that this federal jury, after a five-day trial, came to the same conclusion that we have maintained for almost 3 years – that these plaintiffs were attempting to use the legal system to shake down Mr. Kirk,” DaBaby’s lawyer, Drew Findling, said in a statement.

Check out DaBaby’s new song below.

M-Dot & Lateb Are “Christmas Trippin” In New Song

Veteran Boston rapper M-Dot is back with a new single for the holiday season, “Christmas Trippin” with longtime collaborator Lateb. Both spit bars over some clean boom-bap production, complete with jingling bells to match the occasion. M-Dot produced this track as well, and along with Lateb, spits quirky and stylish bars about the holiday. It’s a very different vibe to previous tracks of his like the politically charged “Reaganomics.” Still, their talent as MCs and writers shines through, almost as much as their creativity and sense of humor.

Instrumentally, the track uses samples and a classic boom-bap drum loop to craft a straightforward but effective Christmas theme. Moreover, the bells are quite subtle, so it’s not like the festive nature of the song is overwhelming the instrumental. Also, the guitars cut through the mix the most clearly, so they distract listeners with its main melody. Ultimately, the instrumental fit snugly with the song’s lyrical themes and topics, which are the star of the show.

Furthermore, M-Dot and Lateb bring animated, engaging, and steady performances to this song. “Christmas Trippin” is full of holiday movie references, cheeky mentions of Christmas iconography, and a Bruce Willis shoutout. “I mean, Bruce Willis is Christmas,” the skit at the end proclaims, most likely referencing Die Hard. Still, it’s nerdy and playful in the best way. However, they don’t compromise on the lyrical side of things, with strong command of internal rhyme schemes and flows. It’s very niche, but a perfectly fun listen for the festivities.

But what did you think of M-Dot and Lateb’s holiday jam, “Christmas Trippin”? Let us know in the comments and check out some notable lyrics from the song below. If you haven’t checked it out yet, make sure to find it on your preferred streaming service. Also, as always, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest hip-hop drops and more Christmas festivities from pop culture.

Tafia’s New Single Reminds You To “Stand On Bidness”

In the spirit of giving, we have more new music for your listening pleasure this Christmas. Next on our list of hot recent arrivals is Tafia’s “Stand On Bidness,” which made its official debut on December 20th.

The Dream Chasers artist‘s track came with a Skeeboe-directed music video. Cameras capture dynamic shots of him in the studio, and later, exploring Florida and all of its beauty. As dusk settles, palm trees and luxurious vehicles help to set the vibe.

Throughout his lyrics, Tafia flaunts his status as the realest trapper in the 305 (by his standards, anyway). Additionally, he shares bars about transitioning from his chaotic childhood “slinging pieces and swiping cars” to his current life. Among the many luxuries his success has markedly brought him are five-star meals and fancy whips.

“I got a fetish, I like nice cars and bust down Audemars / The key to my success was slangin’ P’s and swipin’ cards,” the song’s first verse chiefly begins. “I’m never satisfied, could ball today and gone tomorrow / Repercussions from my savage like I shouldn’t have got involved.”

“Stand On Bidness” follows Tafia’s previously shared “Can’t Let Up” release. It also premiered in December and finds him reflecting on his humble beginnings before rising to fame.

Other 2022 arrivals from the recording artist include “Big Mood” with DJ Cruz, NateTaylorr, and Rellyski, as well as “Life of the party” alongside Nick Garcia, Gnautica, and Tropdavinci.

Finally, stream Tafia’s “Stand On Bidness” on Spotify or Apple Music below. Afterward, let us know what your thoughts on the new single are in the comments.

CJ Fly Shares New Song, “TOP”

Seasoned Brooklyn MC CJ Fly is back with a new single, “TOP.” After this year’s EP, The PhaRaOh’s Return, it seems Fly continued honing that boom-bap sound. In particular, this track is one of the rapper’s most boastful, confident, and self-referential in regards to the rap game. On this song, CJ is hungry, focused on getting his proper flowers for his talent, and displaying it in full.

SANTA ANA, CA – APRIL 20: Rapper CJ Fly performs onstage during the Smokers Club 420 event at The Observatory on April 20, 2017 in Santa Ana, California. (Photo by Scott Dudelson/Getty Images)

Instrumentally, the song is some mid-tempo boom-bap with dramatic but distant piano passages. However, the beat itself is very crisp, with a lot of rhythmic variation and a clean acoustic sound. Moreover, the live drums on the song really accentuate its raw nature. Still, it doesn’t get too muddled to the point where CJ becomes unintelligible.

On the bar-for-bar level, the Brooklyn native spits some impressive lines throughout the song. Specifically, he gets competitive, name-dropping some of the best in the rap game. So there’s a lot of talk of his influences as well, such as Biggie, Jay, Nas, and Kendrick. However, CJ rapped proudly of how far he’s come since then. Later in the song, he says he improves with every album and details the other places he draws inspiration from.

All in all, this new single from CJ Fly is a really smooth performance over a really smooth beat, and it does show his skill well. His delivery is understated but clear, and the song’s direct lyrical nature reinforces the simple instrumental. With whatever he does next, it’s sure to be forward momentum from the Brooklyn MC.

What did you think of CJ Fly’s boastful new track, “TOP”? Let us know in the comments and check out some notable lyrics down below. Still, if you haven’t listened, be sure to check the boom-bap excursion on your preferred streaming service. Also, as always, stay locked in to HNHH for the best new music in the rap game every week.
