J Cole Shares Old Footage In The Music Video For “Trae The Truth In Ibiza”

J Cole has had an interesting 2024 so far. Overall, it began with him being dissed by his good friend Kendrick Lamar on Like That. Subsequently, he hit back on the album Might Delete Later. The song “Seven Minute Drill” was his official response, however, as the album name suggests, he deleted it. This decision came after a much-discussed apology at Dreamvillefest where he essentially took back what he said about Lamar. Since then, Cole has mostly stayed out of the limelight, aside from a couple of highly-debated verses here and there.

Well, today, J Cole is back. This is all thanks to his new music video for “Trae The Truth In Ibiza,” which can be viewed below. As you will see, this new music video is supposed to elicit some nostalgia. It is filled with archival footage of the artist. From his early days touring, we get to see all of the locations Cole has visited throughout his career. For longtime fans, it is the kind of video that is going to get you excited for the old days. However, it should also get you excited for The Fall Off, which is supposed to be coming out either later this year, or early on in 2025.

Victoria Monet Draws Comparisons To Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, & Beyonce In “Alright” Music Video

Victoria Monet, veteran R&B singer and songwriter, really put a lot of people on notice after nabbing a massive GRAMMY win. At this year’s award show, the Atlanta, Georgia native took home the hardware for Best R&B Album. Her fifth overall project JAGUAR II, the sequel to the 2020 tape, dropped in late August 2023 and featured quite a few standout tracks. You have the horn backed “On My Mama”, “Smoke” with Lucky Daye, among others. The album won over some very respectable competition as well, including Summer Walker, Babyface, Coco Jones, and Emily King. However, the nominations do not stop there. She is also getting recognized by BET for the Best Female R&B/Pop Artist. With all of this well-deserved success, it seems to be trickling down to other areas of her career. For example, Victoria Monet is getting tons of praise for the music video for “Alright”.

One of the other hits from JAGUAR II, “Alright” has been a winner for Victoria Monet due to its bouncy and intoxicating vibe. Part of the credit goes to KAYTRANADA, who produced the banger. In the visuals, fans have been pointing out that she made some nods to artists like Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, as well as Beyonce. “The ode to Janet’s “Feedback” and “Alright” & Michael’s “Smooth Criminal” was so dope! I love the modern elements!”, one user writes. The inspiration is definitely there, and it is all sold well due to the incredible choreography. The moody tone of the video also complements “Alright”, as well as the album, to a tee. All of these standout qualities are why Monet has the number six video on trending right now.

Real Boston Richey Has Hefty Baggage On “Help Me”

When you think of the music that Real Boston Richey provides, your mind will probably go to violent trap bangers. It makes sense though. He is cut from the same cloth as Future, who he is in fact signed to. Because of this, the Freebandz MC hailing from Tallahassee, Florida has a slightly different take on rap sound from there. He brings the Atlanta approach to the Sunshine State for sure. However, things are little different for Real Boston Richey on “Help Me”. Sure, he is riding an 808 heavy instrumental. That is not the revelation here.

Instead, Richey is getting painfully personal. This thematic and tonal change might be why the song is popping off right now. Since its release, it has racked up over 729,000 views on YouTube, good for #18 on trending for music. Real Boston Richey comes across as troubled and helpless searching for answers to his problems. His delivery makes his bars extremely convincing. “Why I ain’t got no hit song yet? ‘Cause I guess it ain’t my time yet / Promise to stay down with this s*** until my eyes go blind, yeah“. If this is a shift in Richey’s career, we are here for it.

Juelz Santana Drops The Perfect Pre-Game Hype Song With “Score”

Dipset (The Diplomats) affiliate Juelz Santana has been repping the blue-collar city of Harlem, New York with much pride. Essentially a living legend at this point in his career, the 42-year-old is not dropping as much as he used to. Then, if you want to look at when he dropped an album, you will have to go even further back in time. In 2020, Juelz released #FREESANTANA, a tight, ten-song record with a stacked guest list. Dave East, Jim Jones, 2 Chainz, Lil Wayne, Belly, Jeremih, and A Boogie Wit da Hoodie assisted him greatly. But after such a long absence how would the MC come back? Chicago drill/Chicago hip-hop has to be one of the most entertaining and hype subgenres. So, what happens when you combine two artists from there who live and breathe this stuff? Well, you get one heck of an all gas no brakes track like “FASHO” by Hotblock Jmoe and G Herbo. As we said, “FASHO” keeps the flame lit the entire way through. That is thanks to Hotblock and G Herbo bringing cutthroat bars and that Midwest, blue-collar attitude over a crisp trap instrumental. “We catch n**** lackin’, hawk ’em down, stand ovеr and over clappin’ (Come here)“. Jmoe does not let the star power of the guest deter him one bit. He holds his own and goes bar for bar, all while bringing a smooth and easy-to-hear flow.

Lancey Foux & Teezo Touchdown Are The Next Artists Up For The Cash Cobain Treatment With “Daylight”

Cash Cobain has had his fingerprints all over the place as of late. The New York bred rapper and producer has quickly risen in popularity and notoriety amongst fans and his peers for his unmistakable style. Considered “sexy drill”, this man absolutely lives for the nighttime and creating wavy club bangers. Over the last few weeks, Cash has seemingly worked with every major artist you can think of, including J. Cole of all people.

Additionally, he got to work alongside Don Toliver and Charlie Wilson on “Attitude”, which will land on the former’s forthcoming album Hardstone Psycho. Cash also produced for Ice Spice and A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, just to name a few extra. Now, he is working alongside UK multi-hyphenate Lancey Foux for his collaborative single “Daylight”, which also features the eclectic Teezo Touchdown. Over the last couple singles, Foux has been doing some interesting things over in the R&B space, and this is another venture.

On this cut, Teezo and Lancey are wanting to love a woman so much that it continues into the next day, every time that they are together. Foux auto-tune croons his way across the transcendental beat from Cash, whereas Teezo brings his trademark energetic nature to break up the lowkey nature of the track. Even though the instrumental is solid, a lot of listeners are quickly growing tired of Cash’s repetitive nature. “Cash Cobain run is bout to end real soon if he don’t find a new trick,” one user writes on IG. “So cash cobain just giving everyone the same beat huh?”, another adds.

What are your thoughts on “Daylight” by Lancey Foux, Teezo Touchdown, and Cash Cobain? Is this one of his better singles as of late, why or why not? It’s a parlay, a parlay, a parlay, baby, it’s a bet (Party, party)

Sean Kingston & NBA YoungBoy’s Contrasting Styles Collide On “Why Oh Why”

Sean Kingston and NBA YoungBoy are both dealing with some major legal issues at the moment. The Jamaican-bred singer and genre chameleon’s home in Florida was recently raided. Additionally, he is facing 10 charges which include, alleged fraud, grand theft, and identity theft. Furthermore, his mother, Janice Turner, was arrested on similar accounts but with two less charges. Then, there is NBA YoungBoy, who seems to be on a better path after he received a $100,000 bond following his April arrest in Utah over a whopping 63 charges.

It included everything from patterns of unlawful activity to procuring or attempting to procure drugs, identity fraud, forgery, possession of controlled substances, and possession of a dangerous weapon. However, that lengthy list was trimmed down to 48 as of a few weeks ago. However, if things go according to plan, YB will head back to his home state of Louisiana for trial for the separate federal weapon charges. With all of these moving parts, it was quite surprising that we received a new song.

Listen To “Why Oh Why” By Sean Kingston & NBA YoungBoy

“Why Oh Why” is the first-ever meet up between Sean Kingston and NBA YoungBoy and it was teased by the former a little while back, according to HipHopNMore. Another reason why this collaboration is quite surprising is due to their contrasting styles. But the song goes over better than expected, as YB goes into his more melodic bag, instead of his typical yelping vocals. Him and Sean talk about fighting through adversity, which makes perfect sense given their situations.

What are your thoughts on “Why Oh Why” by Sean Kingston and NBA YoungBoy? Did you ever think that we would get a collaboration from these two, why or why not? Would you want to hear them together again? Who had the better performance? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. MESSIAH!, MAVI, & Ovrkast. Collab On Soothing Single “Silent Heel”

Underground lo-fi rapper MESSIAH(!) has created something truly special with MAVI and Ovrkast on “silent heel”. This is the latest offering from the Charlotte, North Carolina native, who has been quite silent. In fact, this is his first release since his short 2022 solo album PERFECT 7 which featured seven cuts. But it seems that MESSIAH! has been reinvigorated to some degree with “silent heel” out.

As we mentioned, MAVI and Ovrkast. appear here, and the former is a frequent collaborator and fellow Charlotte native. Ovrkast. is best known for his beat making abilities, but he also provides some bars here. Then, MESSIAH! comes through next and delivers a similarly impressive performance.

All three rappers’ willingness to be open about these personal bouts is highly commendable and this is certainly one of the best tracks of the month.

Bizarre Of D12 Begs The Question On New Single: “Who Got A?”

Even though the legendary Detroit rap posse D12 is not as tight as they used to be, members of the group are still doing their thing. One of them is Bizarre, who claimed to be departed from the crew back in 2012, according to HipHopDX. “Creative differences” were the deciding factor for the then 35-year-old. However, the now 47-year-old revealed that he was back with his boys in 2014. Furthermore, just last year, they went on a short six-day tour in the UK in December, according to NME. It was organized to commemorate their sophomore, and final album as a group D12 World. There were talks of a third album in that 2014 DX interview, but things never materialized.

The last “album” they put out was a deluxe of their debut album Devils Night in 2021. But Bizarre did state that he would always have some sort of ties to D12. “D12 is always gonna be attached to my name. I’m a founding member of D12. It’s not a game. It’s something that’s a life commitment.”

While a collective LP might not be coming ever again, Bizarre might be working on a solo tape. Recently, the grimy rapper dropped a single “Who got a [problem]?” with production from fellow D-Town native Foul Mouth. The track is dark, cold and hilarious, with the clear standout bar being, “Two glocks, I call ’em Gweek and Gwiddy / ‘Cause they a couple, like Meek and Diddy (Ha-ha)“. Be sure to check out Bizarre’s new single above.

Young Dro Makes Light Work Of The “Yeah Glo!” Instrumental On “Yeah Dro Freestyle”

One of the biggest rap songs in the early going of 2024 has to be “Yeah Glo!” by GloRilla. The Memphis femcee was losing some steam after dropping tracks like “F.N.F.” and “Tomorrow 2”. At least, that was the narrative amongst most fans, but she really shut up a lot of skeptics with that February single. It has become one of the genre’s anthems of the year, as it preaches self-worth and being confident in your abilities. Because of its message and lively performance, the track has been widely praised by many, including other rappers. One of them is Young Dro, who has recently decided to rap over the instrumental and retitle it “Yeah Dro Freestyle”.

Young Dro is a veteran wordsmith and has been an unheralded name in the Atlanta scene for well over a decade and a half. The “Shoulder Lean” MC is not as eager to drop much anymore it seems, as it evidenced by his last project dropping in 2022. That would be Da Real Atlanta & HyDROponic (Deluxe Edition). Furthermore, his last singles came back in 2023. But, after almost five full months, Young Dro is back with the “Yeah Dro Freestyle”.

Dro shows off his always impressive flows and wordplay across the 2:48 of runtime. Be sure to support him and the song with the link above.
