James Blake & Lil Yachty Captivate & Surprise On “Bad Cameo”

Just over four months ago, Lil Yachty shared an interview clip on Instagram talking about James Blake. The key quotables from it were these: “I think James is working with a quite substantial amount of hip-hop artists, but this project is just… so left. For both of us”. “It’s just gonna be like ‘what the f***?! When they do this?!’”. After that fairly vague soundbite, the trailer-like post made things a little clearer. “CMYK PRESENTS ‘BAD CAMEO’ A FULL LENGTH ALBUM BY JAMES BLAKE & LIL YACHTY”. Fans were undoubtedly excited and intrigued, but no one was sure when we would receive it. Thankfully, on June 6, both artists shared the album cover, as well as the release date.

We are happy to say that Bad Cameo is here today, June 28, and it is quite tremendous. That may be a surprise to some, but perhaps why this album works is all thanks to Let’s Start Here. That LP by Yachty opened the versatility floodgates and most likely gave James Blake and the rapper belief that this would be possible. Honestly, though, it does more than just get by it passes with flying colors. Sure, there are some moments where it feels like one artist is in more control than the other. But the number of times that they mesh far outweighs the moments where they clash. In fact, that is so minimal that we would argue the album nearly flawless.

While that might be recency bias kicking in, hear us out. The instrumentals, which are handled by Lil Yachty, James Blake, BNYX, Dom Maker, and SADPONY, are all so unique from each other. Like the beats, the vocals are also extremely captivating and feel futuristic at times. Furthermore, the lyrical content is deep, self-reflective, and emotional, and they almost always complement the moods of the sonics. This is far from a traditional R&B/hip-hop album. Bad Cameo is something truly extraordinary and needs to be explored again and again.

Megan Thee Stallion Seemingly Reignites Her Nicki Minaj Beef With Venomous “Megan” Bars

Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj engaged in a quick feud at the top of the year. Overall, it all started when Meg began taking shots on the song “Hiss.” Subsequently, Nicki Minaj offered a response on “Big Foot.” However, many fans felt like “Big Foot” was a weak effort that wasn’t even worth a response from Meg. Today, Thee Stallion dropped off her new album Megan, and fans were curious to see if she would have any bars for Nicki.

Well, it appears as though she does. Firstly, we have the song “Figueroa” which had an interesting bar, to say the least. “I’m a motherf*ckin’ brat, not a Barbie,” she raps. “On go with any b*tch that wanna start it.” This is just a one-off bar although the Barbie reference makes things pretty obvious as to who she is talking about. Having said that, it is the song “Rattle” that is certainly going to have a couple of people in their feelings.

Megan Thee Stallion Drops “Figueroa”

“I wanted everybody right here with me, but that was my fault being too friendly,” she says. “I was thinking everything was all good, but the whole time you was my enemy / Only time y’all n****s in agreement is when all y’all tryna go against me / Only time y’all weak hoes link up is when another b*tch tryna get rid of me.” She also said: “Damn b*tch it been four years / Worry ’bout your man and your kid / Your life must be boring as f*ck if you’re still reminiscin’ ’bout sh*t we did.” Some believe these bars could be directed at Kelsey Nicole. However, for now, Nicki appears to be the main target.

“Rattle” Has Bars Too

Lupe Fiasco Proves Lyrically Sharp As Ever On New Album “Samurai”

Lupe Fiasco knows how to rap. An understatement, perhaps. Lupe knows how to rap better than most people walking the planet. He has the rare ability to make rhymes sound both intricate and cool at the same time, if you’ll pardon the pun. He’s also managed to put out some of his best work in the second half of his career. Fans worrying about Food & Liquor being his only classic have been put at ease by what he’s dropped over the last eight years. Samurai continues his hot streak.

The album draws obvious comparisons between the titular Japanese warrior and the proficiency of Lupe as a rapper. That’s where the obviousness of this album comes to a halt. The Chicago icon spends thirty minutes rattling off dense bars and intricate stories over jazzy production. Samurai is only eight songs, but there’s nothing about this offering that feels rushed or incomplete. Lupe Fiasco is such a confident and measured storyteller, at this point, that he seemingly can’t miss. Those seeking radio hits like “Kick, Push” or “Superstar” will be disappointed, but Lupe is at a different point in his career. He’s focusing on skill, and making whole albums out of stellar deep cuts. Samurai won’t convert non-Lupe believers, but it will serve as a reminder of his greatness to fans. “Mumble Rap” and “Til Eternity,” in particular.

Megan Thee Stallion Decimates Her Haters On New Album “Megan”

Megan Thee Stallion has a lot to get off her chest. She dealt with a lot of hate in the last few years, and she decided to bottle all her frustration and trash talk for her self-titled album. “There’s a reason that “HISS,” her diss against Nicki Minaj, made the tracklist. Yes, it did top the Billboard Hot 100, but it sets the proper tone for Megan, which is aggressive and confident. Megan Thee Stallion doesn’t have time to waste on her haters, because she’s too busy being successful. This is the overriding thesis of the album, and it makes for a pretty entertaining listen.

The guest features are dished out during the middle portion of Megan. GloRilla and Victoria Monet provide very different, albeit compelling features on “Accent” and “Spin,” respectively. There’s also Kyle Rich on the album highlight “B.A.S.” The rapper has a memorable sixteen, but the real appeal of the song lies in the lush Teena Marie sample. The real surprise, in terms of features, is UGK on “Paper Together.” Megan Thee Stallion pays tribute to her Texas roots by including verses from Bun B and the late, great, Pimp C. The result is a chilled-out, flow-heavy affair that easily ranks among the album’s best. Megan handles the rest of the album’s songs on her own. She slides on the menacing “Otuka Hot Girl,” but “Moody Girl” is surprisingly poignant. The rapper gets personal and vulnerable, and the results are fascinating. Megan is the best Megan album yet.

BLXST Announces Release Date And Title For Anticipated Debut Album

BLXST has been grinding for a long time. The rapper has been in the game since 2014, but he really broke out with the single “Chosen” in 2020. It’s been all uphill from there. BLXST’s smooth sound is partially indebted to G-funk, but there’s an eccentricity to it that makes him stand out. It’s the reason he’s been able to link up with legends like Ty Dolla Sign and Kendrick Lamar. After years of putting out mixtapes, though, BLXST is finally ready to make the jump. His debut studio album is imminent.

The rapper broke the news on X (formerly Twitter) on June 27. He posted an album teaser, along with a title and release date. The teaser treats fans to a montage of BLXST riding around different parts of Los Angeles. It’s dramatic, like all album teasers are, but it’s effective. At the end of the clip, the title of the album flashes onscreen: I’ll Always Come Find You. It’s a provocative title, especially given the pensive imagery of BLSXT in a car. The album will drop July 19, meaning fans won’t have to wait long to hear a grand statement from the rapper at least.

BLXST’s Debut Album Is Due Out This Summer

BLXST’s reliance on Los Angeles makes sense given his back catalog. The rapper has always made his home, and the history of said home, part of his lyrical focus. He explained his reasoning for doing so in a 2023 interview with Complex. “I want to be able to put people in a good mood,” he explained. “I want people to listen to my music while they’re with their family or while they’re barbecuing in the backyard. Want them to feel like they’re in L.A.” He’s certainly managed to do that with tapes like Before You Go and No Love Lost.

In the same interview, BLXST predicted a sea change in LA culture. “I feel like it’s healing,” he opined. “Like, the younger generation is understanding it’s bigger than that. We’re trying to feed our families and create generational wealth. So there’s strength in numbers, and I think we’re understanding that right now.” His gut feeling proved to be accurate. BLXST’s debut album will come out after Kendrick Lamar’s “Pop Out” show, which has seemingly breathed new life into the city. The rapper has the attention of the music world. Let’s hope he makes it count.

Chance The Rapper Delivers Massive Update On New Album “Star Line”

Chance The Rapper fans have been waiting for a new album from the hitmaker for years now, and fortunately, it looks like their demands will be answered soon. The Chicago-born performer unveiled a new single from his upcoming LP Star Line earlier this month, “Stars Out.” The track left listeners with high expectations, with many predicting that his next project will mark the start of a major comeback.

Chance The Rapper’s New Album Is 83% Finished

“We’re living in the project right now,” he explained. “The thing is, no one has the attention span for what the conversation needs to be. So I’m piecing it together. I’m living in it with my fans, with the new artists I come in contact with… I’m really enjoying this process time.” Chance went on, revealing why working on his last album wasn’t nearly as enjoyable.

“Sometimes the process time is really stressful and hectic,” he said. “For my last project, I’d just gotten married, I just had a baby, I was about to separate from my management. Like, I had so many things going on and now, it’s not like ain’t sh*t going on — it’s a lot going on — but I’m really able to revel in the creative process and put everything into that and be 100 percent myself and present in the now.” What do you think of Chance The Rapper’s latest update on his upcoming album? Kendrick Lamar’s New Album Could Arrive Soon, DJ Hed Speculates

It’s no secret that Kendrick Lamar is the center of attention following his viral feud with Drake, leaving fans eager to know what his next move will be. Rumors that he plans to drop a new album sometime soon have been floating around for months, and supporters have high hopes, particularly after some of his collaborators’ hints. Late last month, for example, Terrace Martin Tweeted that Kendrick is “locked in.” This left some followers convinced that a new project is in the works, though this has yet to be confirmed.

Now, DJ Hed has shared his predictions with Bootleg Kev during a recent interview, claiming that he wouldn’t be shocked if the rumors were true. He added that he can’t be sure, as he hasn’t been a part of any conversations about a new album. Either way, his revelation has fans excited to see what’s to come.

DJ Hed & Bootleg Kev Discuss Kendrick Lamar’s Next Move

“I guess so, I mean I don’t know you tell me,” DJ Hed said when asked if Kendrick plans to drop a new album soon. “I wouldn’t be surprised if we got something soon, but I don’t know. That’s not me, I don’t know for sure.” The album talk stopped there. It’s far from the first time fans have gotten hints that he could have something on the way, however.

In April of this year, Rory & Mal were discussing Kendrick’s response to Drake before it arrived, and Mal claimed that a “little bird” told him Kendrick was taking so long because he was saving it for his new album. What do you think of DJ Hed speculating that Kendrick Lamar could drop a new album sometime soon? Do you hope he’s right? Are you looking forward to hearing whatever it is Kendrick Lamar is working on at the moment? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Childish Gambino Wants To Focus On Fun After Drake & Kendrick Lamar’s Viral Feud

Childish Gambino is currently gearing up to drop one final album under his moniker, Bando Stone in The New World. It’s expected to arrive sometime this summer, though an official release date has yet to be confirmed. The release date for his new single “Lithonia” was leaked earlier this week, however, revealing that the track drops on July 2. In the meantime, the hitmaker took to TikTok Live to share some details of the upcoming project, claiming that his goal is to provide listeners with something he thinks society needs more of.

“The problem is, we’re not having enough fun. So this rollout that’s coming, it’s mostly about fun, I’m trying to have fun,” he began. “I feel like there’s just people not having enough fun […] When I was a kid, there were big things that would unite us, and I just feel bad for y’all. This generation just does not get — y’all get, like, bad stuff. Everything that everybody can get in on is usually f*cked up.”

Childish Gambino Teases Bando Stone In The New World

He went on to use Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s infamous lyrical battle, which has easily become one of the most viral moments in hip hop of this year, as an example. “Even this year, the most fun we’ve had was from a fight. A song from a fight, from a rap beef,” he explained. “Which I enjoyed every minute of. It was very fun. But still, kinda negative in a certain light, I guess.” Of course, his remarks have fans even more eager to hear what he has to offer on Bando Stone in The New World.

DJ Mustard Will Rap For The First Time On His Upcoming Album

DJ Mustard’s Hall of Fame plaque is set. He was one of the defining producers of the 2010s. He just scored his first number one single with Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.” And he’s arguably the most famous West Coast producer of the 21st century. He could retire from music today and be deemed iconic. DJ Mustard has no such plans, however. The producer is gearing up for his most ambitious release to date, Faith of a Mustard Seed, on which he plans to debut as a rapper.

Originally, Faith of a Mustard Seed was pitched as a classic DJ Mustard affair. Which is to say, loaded with guest features and snappy production. Both of these elements will be present on the new album, but Mustard felt compelled to take a more personal approach. He discussed his decision to get on the mic during a recent interview with Real 92.3 LA. “There’s a song on my album where I’m rapping at the end,” he told the hosts. “That’s the most vulnerable [moment], because I’ve never rapped, nothing like that.” The producer then acknowledged that he vowed to never rap in the past.

DJ Mustard Wants To Give Fans His Lyrical Perspective

The reason DJ Mustard changed his mind? He wanted to give his listeners perspective. “I’ve been behind the boards so long that nobody has ever heard my side of things,” the produce noted. “When it comes to anything. Family or friends… I think it was just the time.” Mustard went on to cite the last five years of his life as being particularly dramatic, between COVID, divorce, and starting a new relationship. He felt he’d finally amassed enough material to warrant dropping a verse. “Sometimes people need to hear it, from you,” he opined.

DJ Mustard’s personal life has been a topic of discussion recently. The producer has been embroiled in legal battles with his ex-wife over custody. There was also controversy sparked when Drake, the target of Mustard’s “Not Like Us” beat, started following the producer’s ex on Instagram. Fans criticized the 6 God for the sneaky behavior, and Mustard’s ex for following him back. Most famous rappers have taken shots at Drake in 2024, so it’s very possible that DJ Mustard would get in on the fun. Mustard rocked a ball cap from Drake’s hometown during the “Not Like Us” video shoot, but he later claimed that he wasn’t trying to troll.

Boosie Badazz Chefs Up Some Cold Tracks On “Russia”

Boosie Badazz is someone who does not bite his tongue. If he feels a certain way about something, he is going to share his opinion, even it offends others. That is especially true on his brand-new song, “Letter to the LGBT”. It is essentially a commentary about the community that includes a half-baked apology. We say that because throughout the four-and-a-half-minute record, he talks about trans athletes, gender reassignment surgery and more. He even goes as far as to say, “I told him not to cut his d**k off”. This song is now on the “cold” opener on Russia, the latest album from Boosie Badazz.

This is alredy the fifth project from the prolific Louisiana rapper this year. Russia most recently follows up on Happy Thanksgiving & Merry Christmas, which is only five days old. Before than Boosie’s fans were treated to another take on the Blues genre with Boosie Blues, as well as Bleek Mode and In House 2: Boosie and the Beast. On Russia, Boosie Badazz is giving you his familiar style of soulful trap on 12 tracks. What is also reoccurring here is that the features are held to a minimum. Just one guest makes the cut, and that is Og Dre on the closer, “Stuck On You”. If you want to hear what else Boosie is laying down, you can check out Russia with the streaming links below.
